Hi, I have searched high and low for Eugene's no brick froyo rom. Can't find it anywhere. Anyone have a link?
I need it as nothing is unbricking my Vibrant. The internal ram is still checksum fail, after I had used cwr to partition the memory, thinking it was for external sd.
I have used ODIN to re-flash stock... With re-partition checked and un-checked, no difference.
Trying to be calm

Good luck, it should work. I was in your exact shoes last night and the only thing that did it was for me was this (Froyo that doesn't brick). Nothing else would unbrick my phone.
After flashing it, my phone would only boot into recovery. It wouldn't let me get into Froyo, not even sure if it's supposed to. Anyway, once it flashed and entered recovery, I simply rebooted and flashed back to stock and all was well.

Yep, worked... Glad it worked for you too. I thought my $500 was out the toilet. Problem as a crash course expert hehe was finding everything that was needed as there were so many different forums where all the information was.

I am, absurdly, in the same boat. I, too, thought I was reformatting my external SD. I followed the link above to Eugene's froyo that doesn't brick file and am installing the Android SDK as well. Am I to understand that once you flash Eugene373's "rom that doesn't brick" that it just remains in the recovery screen while I do an adb reboot from my PC? Sorry if this is a redundant question. I did read all of Eugene's post front to back several times.
My question that I really need answered is: How do I do an ADB reboot from my PC? I installed my drivers and android SDK, but can't seem to make it reboot from my cmd by typing "adb reboot"
Nevermind ;-) I figured it out. I was just overthinking the problem. Instead of typing adb reboot, I just manually rebooted it and then reflashed stock 2.1 from ODIN and, "Voila!" My issue is fixed. What a serious pain in the ass. Not something I am likely to repeat in this lifetime. Thanks alot guys for your post and to Eugene373 for his genius "rom that doesn't brick."
My vibrant has an error of can't mount mmcblk0p1 and I can't use my external sd or install apps in recovery I can still access my external sd for some odd reason I installed a rom and then flashed voodoo and it wouldn't with after a great while so I battery pulled and used odin trio get to eugene froyo that cannot brick and my partitions aren't being read I can fix thus all if I can change the voodoo/enable-lagfix file to disable it can someone please suggest how to fix this issue I'm almost literally in a panic over this please help it'd be much obliged
Best bet is to use odin do you know what that is

Hi guys,
I was running the latest version of VillainROM and after trying to flash stock kernel and rebooting, I am getting a BOOT LOOP at the VillainROM startup screen. I tried connecting to Odin in download mode but ODIN is not recognizing the phone.
Please help out. I forgot to take backups using CWM before installing the kernel and now I am not able to connect to the PC either. Is there any way of flashing back the old kernel/ROM using external memory card? Any suggestions? I would be really grateful! Thanks.

Yo man, what up. Kinda new to all of "this". litterly just made an account. Anyways I got my Fascinate rooted, right, i got the superuser and rom manager and all that. Im still on stupid version 2.1 update 1.... It sucks. Non of my favorite apps work on it. Plus i can't get into Clockwork mod recovery to use a rom and update it either... Why?? I flashed it through rom manager. I also tried it through Odin but when i put the stupid pda file and press start, Odin says somethin like "Failed. Succeeded 0/ Failed 1" then i get a soft brick. But luckly i know how to fix that. What should be done, need you people to help me out.. I looked over the Internet on how to do it, but you know how it is. The ota doesnt update my phone... Kies mini doesn't update my phone (gives me something like "Can not update this device" ...ALL I want for Christmas, Santa, is to get a f*ckin update.. Anything other than 2.1 on Fascinate!
Because you did not mention it...
Have you spent the time reading through droidstyle's guide?
