So i got the evo 3d, and i have done a couple of the perma-temp roots, and now my phone just says obtaining ip when connecting to my router, but everything else can(4 evo 4gs and 2 ipods) i can connect everywhere else. I have tried wifi fixers from market and i have tried to forget all newtworks and then battery pull and nothing works, help i need it for business.
factory data reset...
try that from the options menu
I no this sounds weird but are u putting password correctl?

Have you tried disabling some of the other devices like the evos and ipods and seen if that helps? Most routers can usually stand to give access to about 5 wireless devices at one time so it might just be loaded up to its maximum capacity.

Have you tried it WITHOUT temp root? Did it connect before? Is your router B,g or n? Have you tried another say..g if it was n?.. How about a different channel?
really, dangg, lose all pics okay ill let ay know if it works.
I tried everything mentioned. All channels the whole 9 yards, so i factory data reseted, i guess well find out.

This might have been covered already. I have bought the the 4.0 but it drops wifi constantly, I looked for a link some where but I have only found one that I answered and that was to use a static IP address but to no avail. If someone could help my wifi dropping issue please lend me a hand or point me in the right direction please and thank you. sorry if this post was already covered but I didn't see anything about it.
Well, there is a topic back there somewhere about this, but the issue was never resolved. I believe it is with Belkin routers that this happens, do you have a Belkin? I have a Linksys cysco router and never have this issue; however, I went over to my friend's house who has a belkin and it did the whole dropping thing every 30secs or so. Wonder if we could fix this somehow...
My original plan was to use a static IP but that has failed. I have a Linksys router as well fairly new I can't remember model. But it is the black shiney one that is skinny stands on a little stand has a blue light on it. Poor description I know but it's the best I can do from here.
Hmm, that blasts the belkin theory out of the water...
Does your router have wps? If it does, you should try that, its a long shot, but I read it worked for someone with a similar problem on their HTC.
well my mistake I messed up. It is a belkin router . But thats ok we can tackle this and find whats screwy in there.
Ah, so the belkin theory is correct! now we are getting somewhere!
Have you checked for an update for the router? this seems to be a common culprit for similar problems. Also, if it is a B/G/N router, change the setting to only 802.11 N. There should be an option somewhere in your router settings to change that, idk where since I have an old Linksys cysco G type router.
ill check when I get home but as of now I have a soft bricked galaxy player, Its boot looping I need to do a factory reset I dont know how to though so until I figure that out I'm stuck
To do a factory reset, go to recovery menu (hold volume up+power) there should be an option to factory reset/wipe data. That is with the default recovery, if you have cwm, idk.
thats what I did with cwm and it didn't help I think I'm screwed worse then I thought I wiped delvik cach factory and data wipe. restarted back into bootloop then I tried reflashing after another wipe. I'm not sure what to do

I changed it to 802.11N and checked for firmware but nothing new. But I cant test until I am back up and running with my player.
sorry for so many posts just trying to keep detail, I downloaded the file I noticed its a tar file. I shouldnt have to do any of the code stuff in terminal because thats just how he created it. I read wrong and I should be able to just use the tar file from the the download in ODIN and drop it in and flash. I hope, its still downloaded so Im sure ill throw up another post shortly describing my next bit of panic.
boot loops after reflash
Still no luck I think its broken bad

Well, I guess you could send it into Samsung, I had to do it after bricking my thing so bad, not even a full recovery with all partitions could fix it, they fixed it up good, even though it was rooted.
How long did it take I think I might have to do that and how did you go about doing that

It actually only took them 3 days to repair it after it arrived at their facility. Add time for shipping, and it comes to a little more than a week. I went about it by going to the support page for the product; www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/YP-G1CWY/XAA
Yours is a U.S. model, correct?
Then you click the request repair service, fill out the form, and print the label, put it on a package (you still have to pay for shipping to Samsung, they pay for return shipping, though), and ship it off to the Samsung facility where they work the magic!
ok, so i lost my phone a while back and got a replacement for it... same phone and everything... well i find it and charge it and all my old stuff is stil on there... so i do a factory data reset and the majority of my stuff is STILL on there... ok, so i go ahead and RSD flash it with 198_7, hoping that this would do the trick... my info is STILL on there...
i've already tried removing the account from the accounts app in my list, but it won't let me since it doesn't get service... does anyone know anything that i can do to remove my stuff so i can pass the phone on to whoever???
Put it on Wifi?
Oh and you won't be able to do much with that phone. Highly likely since you reported it missing the ESN is locked down. Got your self a Wifi enabled MP3 Player now.

in order for it to be connected to any hotspot, its got to have service... i've tried that one too and it keeps telling me "ERROR" every time i hit the WiFi button...
Is your phone unlocked and has a custom rom? Because it sounds like you are on a phone with a fried wifi radio or your on a rom that was having issues with the wifi drivers like an old joker blur rom but if your unlocked and have cwm just wipe everything

nope... nothing special about it... i did have it rooted and locked... that's about it... i already flashed the stock 198_7 on it to unroot it and back to factory settings... only thing i'm trippin on is the fact that some of my stuff still remains on this damn thing... idk why the "factory data reset" doesn't want to work either... goes through the motions but no results...
Hello,
As for passing it on to a friend, Metro PCS used to not check for bad ESN's when Activating Phones, but this might have changed now that they are selling Cell Phones. That indeed does not make sense that your information is still on there after doing a Factory Reset. I suppose you could connect it to your Notebook and delete all Files with any Personal Information.
Cheers,
JJ
How are you doing your hard reset? A hard reset erases all your data. I think booting into recovery, pushing the volume up and down keys at the same time, and then selecting "wipe data/factory reset" would do it right.
Undertstand that you also would need to do stuff with the phone programming - your phone number and some other account information would be in there. when I got my phone (used), Spring had me do something to wipe everything including the programming information. Of course I didn't take notes, so I don't know how to do it again.
This is probably a dumb question, but have you removed your sd chip?

Title says it all. I've tried re installing 20 times(not literally) and re installing the drivers, rebooting the phone, the computer, nothing. Had no problems with my S2. Anyone else having similar issues and a possible work around? Thanks.
I had the same issue and swore it was my phone. I tried different cables and even a factory reset, however I plugged in my phone into my work laptop and it synced up just fine.

Haven't tried removing them in safe mode. Sorry to sound stupid but what difference does it make removing them from safe mode? I'll give it a whirl but all the errors I get are on the phones end. I couldn't even copy music to my sdcard. I had to remove it, use the adapter and load it right on it from the port on my laptop.

Had the same issues as well. Tried different cables including the one in the box, deleted and tried to reinstall drivers, checked regedit, and finally called Samsung Advanced Tech support, what a joke by the way. After 20 minutes said our only option is to do a factory reset which is exactly what I didn't want to do. But, it is fixed for now...
So I've read around and decided to post a thread about this issue because I've noticed at least 5 users complaining about it. Multiple times per hour my wifi will disconnect and the phone will not detect the network. It can take up to 5 minutes for it to reconnect. I know its not my router because my Nexus and other devices have never done this. All of the Wifi settings are default. If anyone else has noticed this even once please post if you notice any trends and what you all be doing about it.

I'm browsing all the wifi complaint threads. There is one that was started asking for details on what carrier, etc, in thoughts of trying to narrow it down.
ONe fella posted there that he returned his, and the new one works great.
I'm about to try the same thing.

I was hoping to avoid that. If I ordered online would I be successful taking it to the store?

I am having the same problem, but it's sporadic. Sometimes I'll go a couple of days with no problems before it will happen again. I am stock rooted with bloat removed.

I have come to the conclusion that this is most likely just a software issue. I will not be returning mine and will wait for an OTA to see if it goes away. If that doesn't fix it then off to ATT I go.
I have this problem, but it always happens the same way.
The phone will lock up, I'll get an ANR popup for Samba Filesharing, I'll hit close, and the wifi comes back on.
I had issues at work. But not at home.
Today I told it to forget my B/G radio and to connect to the N radio. No disconnects, none..
No changes made to the phone at all..

I"m not sure hot to tell it to "use N radio". I'll explore. But first want to test to see if I still have the problem on this new phone.
