Is anyone else having an issue with phantom taps on the screen. I know sometimes my screen will pull up the keyboard and start typing. Or if I am scrolling a web page it will think i'm zooming. Or if I go to click and hold a link in dolphin it will just click.
yeah while browsing i had the same problem, maybe some bug that will be crushed after an update.we have to bare with this in the meanwhile.
I'm reading on other forums like the Nook that a screen protector may help fix this.
Plugged in?
Does this only happen when the flyer is plugged in? I had this problem when I was trying to use the flyer while it was plugged in and it just started doing as it pleased. The first couple of times it freaked me out! It just started typing crazy stuff and started navigating from screen to screen as it saw fit every time I went to touch the screen. I thought it was demon possessed (some kind of ouija tablet), but I didn't call a priest I just unplugged it and all was well with it's formerly possessed soul.
.
I have a problem when It's plugged into the power. Scrolling pages sometimes zooms and buttons can activate if my finger is just close to them.
In some countries like here in the UAE, the combination of badly earthed mains, leather-soled shoes or bare feet on tiled floors and a very sensitive capacitive screen causes strange tap response.
Ever held a charging phone or laptop and felt a slight electric buzz??
I usually find if I clean my screen and remove any finger grease, it tends to work fine after that.
Also, even if not on power, I have found a problem with tap and hold (say to trash icons) that if you press the screen too hard, the hold does not 'hold' ... If you use a light tap it works fine.
Large finger surface area on hard press seems to confuse it.
It happens when it's not plugged in.
My screen was so sensitive it would open apps, etc. even when my finger was 1/2" away from the screen. It was frustrating. Cutting down one of the matte, anti-glare screen protectors I had left after I returned my Galaxy tab solved the problem.
I bought some screen protectors of Amazon... Thanks for the input... its the only downside to this thing :-D

Ok... I apolagize in advance if this has been muted before, but I really dont know what to search for.
My problem is, that when i make a call the screen turns off, ( As it should ) but when Im asked to tap in an extention number or 'press 1' etc I cant turn the screen back on, all the soft keys light up but the screen refuses to come back on untill I end the call.
If I dial in the number and the screen goes blank on connection, some times im able to turn on the screen if I move quickly enough and press the sta key.
Im running a htc hd2 with an the latest energy rom.
ditto
have the same problem, would love to find a solution...
Same problem here so I D/Ld Phonex from Iconsoft. Really like this a lot better and is so much more user friendly.
I'm not sure if you're having the same problem I was, but it sounds very similar...
What I discovered is that at the upper left of my screen protector, there are two round cutouts for the proximity sensor. The screen protector has never adhered very well at this point, and it was pulled away from the glass, causing the phone to belive that it was constantly near a face, and blacking out the screen.
I discovered this after being so frustrated that I removed the screen protector, and *voila!* the telephone worked as advertised. I used a hair dryer to warm the screen protector to re-adhere it, and the phone still works properly, but I don't know for how long.
I understand that there is a registry setting to disable the proximity function for the phone, but I haven't gone to this length.
I hope this helped!
I had the same problem till i change te Radio version to 2.10 or above then it disappeared
I have the same problem, screen protector causes this problem for me....
Recently my touchscreen has been acting up on me. Sometimes it will either lock up completely and ill just press power 2x to get it to work again. other times stuff will randomly start to open or if its on the home screen the phone will switch pages left and right at a very high rate of speed the screen almost looks like its flickering.
this just started yesterday, ive ran 2 antivirus apps on the phone and both say its clean so i doubt its a virus, im not sure if its hardware or software related, im thinking about doing a re-flash, but i have a feeling that might not fix the issue..
has anyone else encountered this problem? it can get annoying at times cause it almost stops me from using the phone completely.
Edit: I would also like to note, i thought it was the screen protector i had on, but i took it off and the screen is still acting up
I had this happen last night after I installed a screen protector I got from eBay (they were $4 for 10 with free shipping). I'm guessing it was something in the glue because as soon as I took it off, the phone went back to normal. It always seemed to be 'pressing' in the same spot because I was trying to send a text and it kept popping up with a menu about the contacts info. Also, when that would pop up, the capacitive buttons at the bottom (menu, home, back and search) wouldn't work so I had to lock the phone and unlock it to gain control.

Did any water get in the phone?
i have same problem and make me shock,
my motorola have anti glare screen guard
while iam eat chicken soup and play mini plan , i didnt notice if my finger are wet couz of soup, meanwhile i notice that at that time the touch screen are still good i can play the game, so i quickly try to clean it up using tissue , while i try clean up my phone keep pressing like crazy so i stop to clean it but it keep pressing like crazy, event i have already out from the game, i cannot stop it, so i must pull out the battery and put it back,
i think Atrix the touch screen are too unstable , compare with milestone milestone is better but it's less sensitive then atrix
it normal again after pull out the battery and i clean it up
I never got any water inside the phone, only on the screen protector when applying it to the screen as directed in the instructions for the skinomi screen protector.
the screen protector has been on the phone for 2 months no issues. its only now i see this happening.
i removed the screen protector to see the issue still there.
i have done a factory restore with no changes
i downgraded to 1.52 with the random tapping still going.
i think it might be hardware related.
im going to bring the phone to an AT&T store for a swap
Ok, so aside from a few barely noticeable dead pixels, my TF Prime is fine.
But 3-4 times I've had this weird issue... the TF will all of a sudden start freaking out, flipping screens back and forth, tapping on app icons, keyboard keys, etc. It's as if a ghost has taken over my Prime, lol... what the??
Just happens at random, doesn't seem to be a particular app or action that's setting it off. Has happened while using the stock browser, Evernote, and typing an email.
Anyone else seeing this? Some kind of software glitch, or do you think I got a dodgy touchscreen?
By any chance, do you have the keyboard dock attached? On a few occasions, I've had the palm of my hand kind of resting on the mouse pad and that will set it off - not a tablet flaw, it's just my hand in the wrong place. Without the dock, I've managed to accomplish the same "flaw" by resting my thumb too close to the screen. With a sensitive capacitive screen, you just need to be really close to the screen to set it off. If not, then you have a real problem.
Bye.
No, I'm not lucky enough to own the dock yet, got one on pre-order, lol.
It's not just one tap or two, I mean the thing just flips out, scrolling home screens back and forth, typing automatically on the keyboard, etc., like it's possessed or something... on auto-pilot. It will go on indefinitely, and the screen will become unresponsive to my own taps. The only way to stop it is by doing a hard reboot by holding down the power button for about 10 seconds.
Now that I think about it, probably a touchscreen hardware issue... seems like it's "holding" the tap on, not releasing the tap off when it happens. I guess I'm gonna return it next week, ugh.
I qwas having this problem also but it started happening after i put on a skinomi screen protector. People thought i got water in tablet but maybee that wasnt the problem. If your having same problem.

I've had that happen many times on my Nook Color. Drives me nuts. Certain games trigger it for me. Or sometimes it seems to be caused by my hand touching the screen or more than 2 points ( which is all my NC can handle )
Found that if I turn the device to sleep mode and wipe screen good, it usually fixes the issue. Either that or sometimes I have to reboot and it is normal again.
Glad I'm not the only one with a possessed tablet.
Hi guys. I have a frustrating problem. I have an Atrix (AT&T, NOT rooted, running LauncherPro, no cell phone case). I have loved this phone until today. Here's what happened:
I just bought a dash phone mount (ProClip) and it holds the phone wonderfully. It is a plastic mount with groove sized to hold the phone snugly along its left and right edges, with some support on the bottom corners so it can't fall through the mount.
The problem is that the touchscreen is awful when it is in the mount (meaning only my index finger touches the phone. I downloaded multitouch visualizer to confirm what I was seeing, that the screen registers maybe 2 out of 5 touches, with some of those registering as double taps. Swipes register intermittently as well, often registering as single touches somewhere along the swipe path. The phone is nearly unusable in the dock when I use just one finger to tap the screen.
HOWEVER, when I pulled the phone out of the dock and am held it as normal, the touchscreen works wonderfully, just as it has for the last year. So I put the phone back in the dock, and instead of just tapping the screen with one index finger, I rested my other hand on the back of the phone, and wouldn't you know, the touchscreen worked perfectly again.
So my only conclusion is that the capactive influence of the phone being held makes the touchscreen work. Just touching the screen with one finger with the phone in the mount makes the touchscreen register touches poorly.
Is this normal behavior? Can it be fixed? I'd really like to be able to use my phone in the mount. Thanks!
I use the Motorola cardock for the Atrix and i don't have any issues whatsoever.
maybe part of the dock is touching the screen and the phone registers that as a touch?
Do you have it plug into a charger? If so try leaving it unplug and see if it still behaves the same way. You may have to use a different car charger such as the stock one. My phone will act funny if i have it plugged in to the wrong chargers.
Thanks guys. I did more tests. It doesn't seem affected by whether or not it is charging, and the mount doesn't touch the screen. It almost definitely has something to do with how being held in hand affects the phone's ability to detect the capacitive touches on the screen. Almost as if the electrical effect of the phone being in your hand makes it easier for the touches on the screen to be detected. The thing is, it doesn't even need to be held. It just requires one finger touching the body of the phone and the touches on the screen register normally.
My interim solution is to just touch the body of the phone with another finger while touching the screen. But if I knew more about why the phone acted this way I might be able to mod the mount or a phone case to take care of the problem.
The weird part is that the phone does okay when placed on a wood or glass table, which aren't particularly conductive, but it fails in this plastic mount. Maybe the plastic mount isn't conductive enough? I don't even know if that makes sense, but it is all I can come up with.
Thanks for the help.
Solved the problem with grounding.
I had the same car mount problem with the capacitive star A5000.
I put some aluminium foil in the holder so it touches the back of the phone and taped the other end to the dashboard.
Now it works nicely with one finger.
My screen was totally unresponsive after installing a screen protector using a mild detergent and water spray. This is an easy trick that allows you to position the new screen protector, then squeegee, and let dry 24 hours for a perfectly positioned dirt free screen protector installation.
So now the problem, my screen wouldn't respond to any touch. I immediately removed the screen protector thinking that was the problem, but it didn't help. I tried restarting, pulling the battery, drying with a hair dryer, and leaving it set over the floor heat register, trying to dry out any water that may have seeped in through the home button or speaker. Still, no response to touch.
I found this recommendation from the DROID Forum -
"Touchscreen not working at all (solved)" -
*** Yesterday I was navigating, when I touch the screen to activate an app, the touchscreen froze, I reset the cellphone a lot of times but still stuck, and also reset to factory settings and wipe data, not working, finally hours later of search I found the issue to be the digitizer, it is responsible for touch reactions of the screen, located in the superior left corner, the only thing you do is press for 5 seconds in that area and the screen working right again, I hope so this thread helps a many persons with this trouble. ***
So, I tried holding my finger over the top left extreme corner of the screen (the white part above the screen) for 5 seconds and it worked! I don't know if this was coincidence or what, just thought I share this info.
