If you're talking about SOD, then most probably. I haven't encountered it in the last... 10 hours.

WakeUp lag is reduced, but still it's not fast as in Froyo. In froyo, wakeup was immedietly, in GB there is lag about a second long.

If you're talking about "patch notes" or changelog on this, then probably the following:
Wake-up / Lock button is more responsive. Means it's a lot faster here in KPN than in KPH or the old 2.3.3 leaked rom (obviously since KPN is now an official release)
Apps compatibility. Swiftkey X, Viber, Whatsapp, Slice It and others doesn't force close now after restarting the phone. Or I'm just lucky and have not experienced this yet. But definitely a bug fix somewhere inside the firmware.
Connects faster to wifi.
I'm yet to find out more since I just flashed this KPN 30 minutes ago. Was using KPL since last night.

Hi All,
How to flash this FW? After extaction I don't find any FW files like APBOOT, CSC, etc..
Please help.

It is a One Package. So select copper.ops then click one package, then flash but remember make sure you're current firmware is 2.3.3 or it will hang on system.rfs

It will not work with CF-Root. Only KPH ATM. And My real name is Liam. Not Jackie.

After flashing with the new firmware, the updated FW doesnt do a media scan on the default "media" folder. Ignoring all music inside the folder, mp3 or aac alike. Weird.

Hi yall...
Im sitting here with a good mates i9100... He has flashed it, and now it does not have any signal...
IMEI is just blank, and I think this is because of the baseband radio mismatch as it is showing baseband unknown...
I have tried:
Flashing I9100XXKG2
And in odin I have ticked:
Re-partition
Auto reboot
F. Reset Time
Phone Bootloader Update... (This should update the bootloader, shouldent it??)

From what i have seen for flashing through ODIN, they always mention that re-partition should not be checked. Dont' know why but i guess probably that may have messed up something on the phone. Please google to find out what re-partition does.

Do you have backuped your /EFS folder or not?
We recived it in this condetion... It was already f***** when we started playing arround with it
well considering my un-flashed (freshly unboxed untouched after 2 day usage) S2 managed to lose its IMEI all by itself (showing exactly what you're being shown now), this is entirely a Samsung fault.
I gave it at a local service center and it took them a few days to repair it. They said they had to replace the motherboard and re-flash it (the original mobo wasnt taking flashes apparently).
Dont know if this helps ya.
First off: Stay faaar away from the "Repartition" tickbox.
Sounds like the EFS partition is messed up, without a (working) backup of it, there isn't much that can be done, I think.
Try flashing one of the _user_low stock ROMs (without repartition!) those contain pretty much every part that can/should be flashed.
Maybe this helps.
If not, send it in for repair.
Could you please give me a link to such a ROM ?

No, SuperOneClick doesn't work on a stock ROM, that's right.
Download Chainfire's CF-Root kernel for XXKG2 and flash it too.
You'll have insta-root right after flashing CF-Root

Great news!!! I have installed and works fine with my ACE L version, the 3G connection works fine (my operatos works in 1900MHz frec)
This is the information in samsung kies
The downloaded file is an EXE, run and get a TAR file, flash with ODIN with signle package option.
If you come from 2.2.1 is very important to flash another samfirmware ROM such KPH, then flash this.
If you come from 2.3 don't worry.
And good news, this is original and appears in Samsung Kies, look
is it this one from samfirmware because there it is stated as 2.3.3?

Thanks! It work greats anyways!.

Nop, in SamFirmware only appear the Global Version, this firmware is for the L version, not for the Global, B or T, only for L, this device update to Ginger this day, this is and original firmware and the LatinoAmerican Users with unbranded devices see this update via samsung kies, in the second post I put a screen capture.
For the B and T version exist the 2.3.4 from Vivo Brazil, search in this forum if you want to download it

[Q] Confusion between KPH & KPN

KPH is the latest version (2.3.4) which theoretically should be better than KPN (2.3.3), but i have found many ROMS's have KPN as their base & these ROM's are supposed to be the fastest & stable of all ROM's . I am using the latest 2.3.4 KPH Stock ROM provided by Samsung ; & so m confused to which ROM should i go for , those based on KPH or KPN. Please guys if anyone can help me much appreciated (even though i m sound dumb to some people !!)
2.3.4 KPH is not the latest. It was a leaked ROM dated June 2, 2011.
2.3.3 KPN is an official release by Samsung dated July 13, 2011.

The only new feature kph 2.3.4 has that is not present in kpn 2.3.3 is the video chat in gtalk.
Galaxy Ace users cant even use that feature because the phone does not have a front facing camera.
That is why a lot of ROMs are based on KPN. For the reason that most bugs have been fixed and Samsung has ironed it out already.

Android 2.3.4 is on par with KPH, so it doesn't seem like you are outdated.
But if I were you, just to be safe, I'd still flash it with KPH or KPN if I wanted to use a custom ROM.
I'm sorry for asking, but which country are you from? (Can't see the flag under your avatar as I'm browsing through my phone).

sorted it, now installed and running 2.3.5
Is the frankenstein version the same, I cant see any difference?
Anything I should notice?
Glad you got it!!! (Did it work the way I hoped?)
You probably wont notice any visual changes as such.
Remember, you installed a no wipe version so you will still have the same theme (If you applied any), or wiill still look "Stock".
Changes, if any, maybe more on performance. Keep an eye on battery usage and maybe just general speed of the device.

I normally flash roms at 100% to avoid throwing off the battery calibration. Give it some time, drain the phone and charge it back to 100. It will slow down unless the reason is due to a rogue app.

[Q] Best stock GB ROM?

Hi,
This might be a stupid question but which is the most stable GB stock ROM available out there as per your opinion? and what is the harm in installing a ROM with different CSC as to yours current?
Does doing a factory reset after installing a ROM, removes all the settings from your old ROM ? as in is it like a format on a PC?
Thanks in advance.

This is TOTALLY subjective, as you yourself stated with "as per your opinion", and usually starts a bunch of arguments. Which is why these threads tend to get closed. I expect this one to get closed shortly.

You probably won't get updates via Kies anymore, if you were ever able to in the first place.

A "factory reset" essentially restores the last ROM you flashed to how it was the moment you flashed it.
EDIT to add: to the above factory reset question... it does remove all user installed apps and data too though. So it is KIND OF like a PC format, but not exactly.

Hi thanks for the reply. No i don't want to start a long thread of debates what i meant was, is the latest GB 2.3.6 better and more stable than the 2.3.5? The reason i asked about the CSC was coz 2.3.6 is not available for my region so was wondering if it is more stable than 2.3.5 i would upgrade it!
I updated my system to 2.3.5 via kies and all the software & everything else was how it was before I upgraded to it, does kies reinstall the stuff?

I'm still on XXKI3, which is 2.3.5. It's perfectly stable for me. CSC only matters if you want releases through Kies. If you want to continue to receive Kies updates, then don't change anything. Otherwise, you can flash whatever CSC you want.

No. Kies updates are non-wipe, which means it won't touch the data partition, where your apps live.

one last question, when flashing a GB stock ROM which is not available in my country via KIES do i need to put the following in ODIN:
The .tar with modem in the name is the phone/baseband bit of the package
.tar with csc/multi-csc in the name is the csc bit of the package
.tar with code/PDA in the name is the PDA part of the firmware package
for that particular ROM? or is there something i shouldn't mess with?

no need to worry, any FW package you download should contain these 3 files, to select from respective sections of the ODIN
or all these in a single TAR file to select from PDA.

You've for sure got an I9100, right?
USUALLY, full firmwares are all inclusive. So they will contain modem and CSC already. So you just put it into the PDA field in Odin and leave everything else alone.
You only put modem and CSC in if the package you put in PDA doesn't have them already, or you want to overwrite the ones that are already in a package.
Make sure you don't re-partition, or include a .PIT file unless you REALLY need to, the .PIT file is FOR SURE INTENDED FOR YOUR MODEL OF PHONE, and you know what you are doing. Flashing a .PIT file for a different model of phone will completely hard-brick your phone, and there won't be anything you can do to recover it yourself unless you get your own JTag box. Otherwise, it will have to go to Samsung or a service point that has JTag.

if you select any of the CSC, you probebly get a single .7z file which can be extracted with winrar, then you will get a .md5 file, just select that one from PDA, as per the guide of the same thread....GOODLUCK
I have not tested this to comment, but used 2.3.6, its very stable...
there are firmwares released after this also..like XWLA2, LA4 etc...

Installed firmware XWLA4 it is working like a charm and it is much much better than any before. Before i had 2.3.3 and wen i upgraded to 2.3.5 from KIES i was disappointed by the lack of stability in 2.3.5, Now when i upgraded 2.3.6 it is far far better than any other stock GB available.
