Even if you do have a recovery cable, you won't be able to recover your Atrix, since noone knows how to recover via NVflash except for Motorola.

I wonder if Motorola would ever be interested in revealing how to do it? I suppose it would save them money in the long run.. We've had them unlock the bootloader, so maybe this is worth a shot?

I was wondering the same thing. They made an official statement that they are willing to unlock the BL, so they can follow the same road and release the SBKs also who knows...

Guys, they didn't officially unlock the bootloader. BL was unlocked by pulling a test build off their servers. I guarantee they didn't intend this.
Motorola fails even with OS updates, so I wouldn't except them helping the developers in any way. Especially disclosing proprietary SBKs.

I agree, but there was a thread here some time ago quoting a marketing director of Motorola with ETAs regarding the bootloader unlock

You need SBK to be of any use. I very seriously doubt that moto will ever release the SBK. They really don't have any justified reason to. There is no justification for demanding them to release it. They can simply say that everyone is responsible for their own modifications of the device, and that they hold no responsibility.
According to rumor, Moto themselves either can't, or is unwilling to fix the hard bricks. People sending them in for coverage under service plans are getting completely new phones, not having their phones fixed.

My hope
Has anyone tried whit the factory cable and this? briefmobile.com/motorola-atrix-4g-system-boot-file-sbf-leaked
It may be a solution, please if anyone has tried this with the factory cable that can tell us, works or not?
I feel guilty for damaging the Atrix my brother, now has the old Nokia while I can solve your problem but this seems to have no solution, my Atrix is perfect, works well.
Thanks,
Alex

Alex, that link is unrelated. That was early on in the atrix world and the SBFs became used to fix soft bricks. We've evolved way past that link. Unfortunately at this time there is no fix for the hard brick even with a factory cable. The author of that article himself was one of the hard bricks who had to get a new phone.

thanks
Thanks guys, i hope help some day....

I'm going to jump back to the original topic of this feed, does anyone know where to buy a factory cable? I know it's possible to make one, but I dont solder so does anyone know where to buy one, or a way to make one without soldering?

I would say if you can't use a soldering iron the easiest way would bet either stripping the wires twisting them together and wrap them with electrical tape or using a Wire Connector (You can buy them at almost every store that sells hardware equipment.)

Bootloader question...

So I know there are already some pretty talented devs working on the prime. My quotation is... Is anyone working on unlocking the bootloader? Just curious.

I doubt anyone is working on it. Asus has already said they will unlock it. It would be nice if a dev could figure it out so we didn't have to possibly void our warranty, but hacking an encrypted bootloader is not easy without a leak from Asus or direct help from them.
Yep we need a leak, bc 128 bit encryption ain't no picnic

No one is gonna work on the boot loader since it would take so much work to gain such little ground with the unlook tool coming at some point.

On a serious note... Can't wait... My prime should be here next week. Can't wait until we get an unlock and have ViperROM on this beast! I'm about to switch back to it on my 3D!

What we should do is start asking Asus when are they going to unlock it for us. They claimed once ICS dropped we would get access. I have wrote on there FB and twitter profiles and asked when are we going to get it unlocked. I think we need to ban together again and spam the crap out of them to get what they said they were going to give us.
We have bigger fish to fry, let them get this thing working correctly first, we have root, just have to wait a little bit. I read on here somewhere about a February release time frame..........

Because asus really needs another thing to be bothered with right now, when their current flagship tab is experiencing many quality control issues.

I agree. As much as I'd love an unlock tool now, I'd say we should all wait until most of the problems settle down a bit before we go spamming them about it.
Yeah, but we could have the developers here working for us as well. A lot of them could do better jobs than most companies to fix the problems. Having asus working on one end and developers here, we could accomplish so much. Once the bootloader is unlocks it will still take some time for the developers to do there thing. So the earlier they have access, the better IMO
Sorry to revive a dead thread but I didn't want to make a new one.
Why wouldn't devs want to unlock it? That way we don't have to void our warranty. Also, how do we know it will be a complete "unlock"? If you have looked at HTC's unlock tool, you'll know what I mean. If you use HTC's unlock tool, it makes it a ***** to flash kernels, cant be done through recovery, and they cannot flash radios with their unlock tool. How do we know that asus won't pull the same ****. This is just my opinion though. I'm not a dev by any means.

I'm sure the devs would love to just be able to unlock it but the encryption they use is so good you basically need Gary Key or someone from Asus to leak us the bootloader encryption key. Brute force methods would apparently take longer than the life of the device.
I just wonder how many devices would not have been returned if we could do a proper wipe on our own had the bootloader not been encrypted.

I flash kernels every couple of days with my HTC unlocked method Evo 3D. The only thing that sucks is that I have to be at a PC to use the fastboot method to get into recovery. There is also an app that you can use to flash a kernel. I haven't tried it yet, but I heard it works great. I haven't tired flashing a radio yet though so I can't comment on that. If it was just a locked bootloader that would be one thing, but they (ASUS) put a 128bit encryption on the bootloader as well. It would take a long time for them to break it. Maybe with the unlock tool, someone could see how they use it and find out how to break it with out using the tool by ASUS. But we won't know until the tool is out and available to the public. I am hoping once it's available, and rom's/tweaks/kernels/ect start being made, more developers will buy a TFP and join in to make this tablet into a beast!!
I think Asus unlocking the bootloader would be a brilliant move for them. They would get rid of sooooo many warranty claims. It would be the single best thing they can do to keep the TP from becoming a major financial black hole for them.

Asus like any company comes down to being a business and businesses want money not to please every customer corporations are greedy and that's the facts
But don't you see ? If they allow you to unlock your bootloader, the moment you do that you are waiving away your rights to warranty. So one less warranty claim to worry about. One less warranty expense going against what must already be a very deep hole in their earnings.
It better be fully unlocked with an nvflash recovery! Otherwise I am returning it both of them and the dock
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Yeah, I know there has to be a lot of people who wouldn't have returned theirs if they could have simply downgraded back to Honeycomb while the issues with ICS were worked out. That along with it voiding everyone's warranties would have meant a whole lot Primes not getting returned.
Asus is in the business of making money though so apparently they make more of it by having a wifi tablet locked down while the returns roll in than they would otherwise. I can't imagine too many devices being bricked because of flashing roms but apparently ASUS has done the research that it is cheaper for them to do it this way.
It certainly isn't carrier influence, which I could see in the case of a 3G/4G device, but this is a wifi only device. No carrier to screw over here with tethering or whatever.

[Q] Is it possible to repare a hard brick?

Hi mates,
First, I'm a noob. I know how to flash X8 and Desire but I know anything about Atrix.
I have this message
Code:
SVF:105.1:2 Failed to boot 0X1000
Is there a solution to solve it?
Thanks for your answer.

Actually, yes... or maybe. I found a Chinese site that sells a new CPU and Memory chips for the Atrix. They claim that changing the 16GB memory chips and the CPU would bring your atrix back to life.
I didn't try it and I don't know anyone who has. So... it could be bull****.
Also, I know most of us hate rumors, but a close friend of mine (who makes a living out of fixing mobile phones) received a "service bulletin" from Motorola saying they would open the Atrix for homebrew modifications sometime this year. I wouldn't bet my money on it though.

That works because in the process you're replacing the fuse in the CPU that prevents relocking the bootloader. Its a hackish workaround, you're basically keeping the screen and casing, and replacing the rest. Probably cheaper just to get a used working Atrix.
to the OP - Are you aware of the distinction between a soft/regular brick and a hard brick? Its pretty common terminology with electronics and simply knowing you have a hard brick could have answered your question.

4.5.1A-1_SUN-254_13, is there an sbf?

Ok so I just sent my mopho in for repair and those frackers put 254_13 on it. I'm guessing this means that I now have a non-unlockable bootloader, grrr!!! I think I might insure it and break it hoping I get an unlockable replacement but that's for later.
I have not seen anyone post a 254_13 sbf, so before I try anything I would like to get some image files of my phone to share with everyone. Though it does appear to be the new one on moto's website. I think I could do it but I'm not totally sure how to do it with motorola's sig. Can I decompile 198_... or the 254_12/soak and recompile it with my new images? Is this possible, does anyone care, am I really bad at searching and I'm about to get flamed, or am just out of date?
Also if this is a waste of time let me know.
Most probably a waste of time.

Bricked device

Ok, so my last post was moved to a thread where it may die..lol
Anyway I have an android device (doesn't matter at this point which Android device it is) and it is bricked. There used to be a guy/company I could send a bricked device to and he could fix it and would send it back. I know this because I had a bricked device once and I used him to fix it long ago. I'm not sure if he is still in business or not, but I would love if anyone knew. I'm going through old email messages to try and find him but this was at least 3 years ago... Anyway, if anyone knows who I'm talking about I would love if you could post the info. =)

haha yeah I know, but a couple/few years ago he was a bigger deal I guess. I had bricked a phone back then and someone sent me to his info.. I know it seems like finding a needle in the amount of 20 hay-stacks, but thought it was worth a try.
I'm still actively looking for a way to at least flash a rom to this, hoping it would take. I called both my carrier tech support and the maker of the device tech support, neither would support the device so I'm here talking to all of you and hoping....
I know who you are talking about but he was long ago banned. You will need a jtag box to recover the device. To be honest you will spend more getting it fixed ten you would getting a new device.

Yes. No device is truly completely dead as long as you have the right equipment and know how. You just have to remove the board and Jack into the mount points on the board with a jtag machine.

Well, I'm not sure how or why he was banned, but he basically fixed bricked phones. He fixed an old Galaxy S3 for me when I bricked it. Cost me like $60. He was fair and fast. That's all I know about the guy. Sorry
I can't get into why he got banned. If you search for unbricking some of the older Galaxy devices you will find him easy enough.
If you are interested you can look up if on Jtag systems. They are what people had to use before you could flash a device with a pc. They allow direct loading onto the board.

Almost a month after phone release....Zero developer support... sad

Absolutely zero support...so bad decision that i took this phone. ... No bootloader unlock method...no TWRP or anyother custom recovery. No root... its so bad...
Ofc, because s20 is coming
And I don't think there will be any development

Oh, danke
It's still need to wait some time to get it active?
So there's hope, at least the bootloader can be unlocked.
For those who have the guts, maybe it'll be possible to try debloating, if someone wants a less cluttered phone.
I'm interested also in this phone.
Also, I think it's a matter of time until some devs get more news about this bootloader unlockable capabilities.
Patience is a rewarding virtue :silly:

This phone is a tarted up budget phone, no "enthusiast" is going to bother with ROMs, it's not worth it. I have one, and it's one budget-ass phone, screen size and battery are the only things that make it vaguely worth buying. For the same price you can get a S10+ which is a much, much better phone in all respects.
The glasstic back is horrible (mine is even peeling off near the camera, great stuff for a week old phone), the cameras are pretty weak, earpiece volume is poor at best, and having to use an anctive headphone jack sort of sucks.
As for debloating, I just use Package Disabler Pro, same as all my Samsungs, and had no problems. Yes, it costs a few £, and yes it sometimes stops working, but when it does work it's a great job.
Not at all impressed with the phone at all.
It so sad that Samsung is really going down the ****ter with enthusiasts. Locked bootloaders and hardly any 3rd party developer interest makes all of Samsung's line less desirable. I guess Samsung is only interested in being the Apple of Android phones.

It so sad that Samsung is really going down the ****ter with enthusiasts. Locked bootloaders and hardly any 3rd party developer interest makes all of Samsung's line less desirable. I guess Samsung is only interested in being the Apple of Android phones.

There's a problem in your thought process there.
Samsung, or any brand in that case, isnt obliged to offer you 3rd party support.
Roms are being cooked by amateur hobbiests, enthausiasts or side projects for people working in IT. This has nothing to do with samsung and does not affect its "desirableness" at all.
The bootloader is not locked. Its secured so idiots cant accidently wipe the device.
If you dont like it, why dont you cook your own rom. Or next time, check XDA first if there's a community activly developing for it if you love rooting so much.
****ting on samsung because you dont understand something is not cool.
Think twice next time before you start to point fingers and blame the wrong people.
