Sync icon stuck on... - Motorola Droid X2

This happened today. I deleted some of the apks (not all) from the list in this thread last night. Today, I went back in and deleted the related .odex files.
Now my sync icon is stuck on. I went into my account settings and checked/unchecked everything, plus I've rebooted twice.
Someone please help. This is driving me nuts...
Thanks!

I Think That Has To Do With Email Authenticator, I Remember One Time I Deleted That On Accident And The Sync Symbol Stayed On.

[Q] double circular arrows on top display

I have these double circular arrows up top next to the H+. They are not spinning, just setting there. They don't seem to ever go away. Is this using data or what. Not sure what is causing. My phone is rooted with a few things frozen but nothing that has anything to do with syncing.
thanks for any help
It sure seems something is still syncing... You can test what it is by going into Settings ยป Accounts and disabling individual sync services for any accounts that have them.

No, I only have the Moto Blur default account and there are no setting for that. It has a little lock by it. I don't use it, I use K9 mail program for all my email including google but in my System account there is my Yahoo account that is the default, locked account and a google account, neither of which have any setting at all.

Nope, I tried that and the arrows remain. Also, something strange I think. The arrows stay there even if I turn Airplane Mode on!
Sounds like a silly question, did you reboot?
I rebooted many times. I started removing apps so hopefully I could find it but each time I restarted those sync arrows came back. I also tried freezing every thing I could but no luck so today I unfroze everything and still couldn't get rid of them. Something was always trying to sync. I noticed that my battery life was shorter today so I did a factory data reset and now I am in the process of rooting it again and installing my apps again.
Thanks for all your help and I will be more careful and systematic this time but what I learned is that one needs to be careful about installing apps. Read the reviews first because some programs are memory hogs, some take over your system, etc.
I've only seen that when I started up this new phone.
I shall look for it. I really like my phone. Look at it often.
(Wow, that was nerdy.)

Yeah, the Atrix is still relatively new to the dev scene so most mods are going to have side effects. Basically, just be prepared to do some resets and such until something has been labeled "stable". I'm already on my second Atrix because I messed up the lights for the capacitive buttons and something went wrong with charging, it would always say it was charging even when unplugged. The problems even persisted after a factory restore. Luckily I was able to unroot it and bring it in for a new one before my 30 days was up.
When you see the "sync" icon there, you can go to:
Settings > Accounts > tap on an account, say Gmail.
If something is sync-ing, you'll see the sync-ing icon beside the checkbox for contacts/emails/calendar.
I know on mine, when it syncs with my google calendar, it takes a good 2 mins...odd considering i have less than 10 entries. lol.
I got curious why the sync icon was there for a while, so this was where I looked to figure out what was sync-ing.
Download os monitor and look sort by load. See what is taking up the load and that is your rogue syncing app. Likely it is stuck on a google contact that is corrupted (if acore is your issue in os monitor)
i had the same icon on my notification and i froze account sync and calendar sync, it was killing my battery around 10% per hour. the icon went away after a reset and i have no idea what caused it. looking in titanium i saw an app called SyncML 2.2.1 that has a similar icon but i have no idea if its the app thats responsible, still froze it.

Calendar not syncing with gmail

hey guys,
I've been having a problem with my gmail calendar not syncing, which is very important to me. Not sure if anyone else has this issue. It worked for about 2 weeks then stopped. I still got email, but not sure if my contacts were syncing. I tried the manual sync in Accounts and it said it was synced, but it wasn't. No phone to gmail or gmail to phone on the calendar. I set up a multiple day event (every thursday) and that was when it stopped working.
Anyway, here's how I got it working again. I went into Settings/Applications/Manage Applications, then the ALL tab. First I opened the Calendar Sync Adapter and Clear Data. (That didn't fix it, but I'm not sure if it fixed something else, but this is all the steps I took.) Next was Calendar and Clear Data. (Still no fix). Lastly was Calendar Storage and Clear Data. I'm not sure if the last one was the important one or it was a combination of all three, but that seemed to fix it. I had to re-enter all the events that were originally inputted through my phone so you might want to write those down, but now my phone goes both ways... with gmail... haha. Hope this saves someone some time.
Oh, and I'm stock 2.2.2 not rooted.
What bloat ware have u frozen/uninstalled also you could try force stopping you calender and clearing data and reboot idk if it will do ne thing but its worth a shot
I'm unrooted stock. I haven't frozen or uninstalled any bloatware. I cleared the data and that seemed to do the trick for a day. Now I'm starting to have the same problem again. I haven't rebooted since so I guess I'll try that.

Gmail - Emails won't send?

Hoping someone can help me out. For the past couple of weeks, I haven't been able to send emails out using the Gmail app. I can compose, attach, save....but when I go to hit the send button, or choose send from the menu, the button grays out instantly and nothing sends. Doesn't even go to the outbox.
I've read around the forums for the TB and other devices having the same issues and tried all of the tips. I've wiped app data, app cache, uninstalled all updates, uninstalled the .apk, reinstalled from the market. None of those potential solutions have worked for me . Sync works fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: it's happened on multiple roms, so I know that isn't the issue.
Thank God!
Sorry...I am just happy I am not the only person dealing with this.
I am experiencing the EXACT same thing. I was just about to post everything you did...plus
I cleared all drafts from GMail. I cleared all sent mail from Gmail. I have tried unistalling and reinstalling gmail. I have tried serveral different methods for restoring everything....
- skipping setup and turning off auto-restore and auto sync restoring everything with TiBu
- skipping setup and turning off auto-restore and auto sync restoring everything with MyBuPro
- skipping setup and turning off auto-restore. Signing in to google letting sync complete including apps. Then waiting 15 mins...rebooting and manually restoring only my missing user apps via TiBu.
- loaded the 2.11.605.3 rooted and deodexed but otherwise stock RUU posted in the deveopment forum and still it happened after restoring all my apps.
Everytime...I think I have it beat...but within a day...NOPE! No sending again.
At first I thought it was restoring the apps...BUT
What is F'n strange is that it does not break as soon as the restore is finished. In fact I make sure to email myself at another email address each step of the way to make sure if I can identify where I am going wrong. Each time everything is fine at first.
It is usually between a few hours and a day when Gmail stops working.
This last time I noticed that the gmail app updates itself when I am done...even if I make sure not to in my restore. But I immediately sent myself an email to that address and it worked. Then several hours later...it was broken again.
Not sure if this is related...but I noticed that gmail duplicates that address in the drop down after it breaks. What I mean is that when I type the first few letters of my name....all my emails show up....but each only once. But after it breaks ... the email I sent the tests too shows up in that list twice.
This is the most maddening thing I have ever dealt with in my 3 years of owning some rooted droid or another.
I am tempted to just unroot and restore to stock...and pray that it goes away and does not plague me ever again after 11.11.11
Return to stock and see if the problem persists. If it does call up verizon, explain to them what is happening, may be a problem with the phone, not sure how, but just maybe.
I assume this is the best way?

So I tried wiping and loading a fresh install...and only reinstalled a few of the most vital and used apps.
Have had no problem for 3 days. So clearly it was a bad app causing this. I will experiment this weekend to see if I can figure out which one.
I've had this problem come and go, but telling Titanium Backup to wipe the data for the GMail app always fixes the issue for me.
Can you wipe data of primary gmail address? What happens then - does it take you to the startup screen to sign into gmail from scratch?

It just does it for the whole app... So basically all 4 of my GMail accounts had no messages on the phone until the app successfully synced with GMail. Sending normally works fine after that.
I'll try that next time. Thanks

email not syncing automatically

So i'm not sure what happened, but all of a sudden as of a few days ago my email (stock mail app) has stopped syncing automatically and i can't seem to fix it. It will sync fine when opening up the app, but it doesn't seem to do it according to the schedule i have set, so i don't end up knowing i have emails unless i actually look.
anyone have any ideas? I've tried changing the schedule and that has done nothing. I have 3 email address all with different sync schedules and it seems like none of them are syncing automatically.
they used to work fine!
Mine did the same after about a week. Would only sync if you opened it.
Already disgruntled that there is no way to go from email to email without going back to your folder list I decided to use the standard email app instead.
Just copy the email.apk and exchange.apk from any aosp rom and put in the system/app folder and correct the permissions and reboot.
Haven't had any issues since but this will only help if rooted.

I had this issue too a couple of weeks ago, however, now it has gone away. I would try settings and then accounts & sync and make sure the mail account is listed and the auto-sync switch is on.
I had my hotmail setup through the new hotmail sync profile and it quit working recently. I deleted it and set it up under the email profile and it worked fine. I don't sync my MSN contacts or calendar anyway.

Not syncing calendar...

I just got the 4g yesterday and rooted it. Nothing beyond that though. The phone is not syncing my calendar for some reason. I've tried uninstalling the entire calendar (backed up with titan, and restored now) to try and install the cyanogen calendar with no success. I installed buisness calendar free and it doesn't even see the calendars.
In the sync settings under all my google accounts the icon is red and it says:
'Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.'
It's said this since last night so there has to be something wrong with the phone.
I tried wiping cache/davik and nothing. Still fails.
Any assistance would be much appreciated,
thanks,
Justin
In case its relevant, I did this to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1758682

I don't think it is because you rooted your phone, I have a galaxy S3 that is not rooted and my syncing stopped working as well. I think it might be a bigger issue with google.

I am not rooted and I have this problem too. But, its with the Facebook calender only. The others sync fine.
Yeah, I dont think it has to do with root either, but I'm pretty sure my other phone is syncing just fine. I was just thinking maybe I missed a setting somewhere or there was some bug that people knew about and possibly how to fix. Just really annoying since I use it for work.
**edit**
Actually, forgot about this... my calendar app actually stops working if I try to view calendars to select which ones to sync. Also business calendar doesn't even recognize that I have calendar's (maybe cause the sync problem noted in OP).
found out it is my phone, tested at a verizon store and google calendar sync works on the demo phone as well as the galaxy s3 there...
