Is the Evo 3D Worth Getting? - HTC EVO 3D

Hey guys I've been shopping around for a new phone lately and I've been thinking about buying the Evo 3D. Now I'm aware that this phone is Fairly New, but I'm just wondering if Anyone is Disappointed with any part of it, or if its just Truly living up to what Sprint claims it is... (a Great phone).
With that said, can you guys maybe give me a brief listing of your Likes/Dislikes?
Also what's the deal with the Permanent Root/Recovery Situation?
Thanx in Advance!

I personally love the phone. No dislikes. It is my first android device though. Super quick, everything is so smooth. You can't really do anything to make it stutter. Battery life is pretty good. With moderate usage I was getting about 12+ hours.
Check the development forum section for info on s-off/root. There's plenty of instructions on getting s-off and root.
I'm still testing, but I just flashed some new roms that remove a lot of the bloat that comes stock on the phone and my battery life seems to have almost doubled. Wouldn't be surprised to get a full 24 hours out of it right now.

I'll do that... Thanx for your Reply!

I upgraded from the Evo 4G to the Evo 3D.
Likes:
Processor speed (very responsive)
Battery life (compared to stock Evo 4g battery)
Additional storage
Dislikes:
Skinnier screen (makes Swype keyboard keys too small)
5mb Camera (would rather have the 8mb cam from Evo 4g, than the 3D cam ability)
Side location of USB port
Screen lock (very annoying, can't turn off)

Coming from the Hero.....This is a HUGE upgrade buddy. No dissapointments here, and now that we have s-off and full root the developement on this phone is absolutely exploding. There's really no better options then this for sprint in the forseeable future. The Photon just came out, but that's likely to be lockdowned worse then this was, SG2 is still rumor only (never officially announced by Sprint) and the Hero2 will be a lower end phone (single core, less ram etc.)

I ditto what hockeyfam said

There are apps in the market that can disable the lockscreen.

Forgot one other like: Evo 3d is rootable
Still on the fence as to which one is my fav, though.
Photon looks promising by the way.

First off, Thanx All!!
Next I Definitely Agree with you, Almost Anything is a Considerable Upgrade from my Poor Old Hero!
I'd also like to know, is the Battery on the Evo 3D the same size as the Hero's? My girl has a Droid Inc. and its the Same... just wondering if I could Switch batteries from phone to phone?
Thanx Again guys!

No. The Hero's battery is much smaller (sorry the exact specs elude me at the moment). E3d battery life is far superior to that of the Hero in my experience with the 2 phones. Same usage nets me much better life with the 3D...light usage I can get almost 2 days of charge. VERY heavy usage, I'm still around 12 hours with 4 hours "screen on" time.

How much faster is the Photon than the original Evo4G?

Hi,
I have had my Evo since last year & I have been debating on switching to the Photon (I am not a fan of 3d so the Evo isnt for me). I was curious how much faster the Photon would be in terms of real world usage.
Any former Evo (not 3d) owners out there that can fill me in?
Thanks,
Rich
Alot, not to go into details, go to Sprint store like I did and play with it!
Very good. The dual core CPU & additional RAM make a huge difference in Android's performance capabilities.

Substantially quicker! Don't get me wrong....the EVO is still a deserving player, but the hardware upgrades just make everything...."snap". No regrets here.
Everything is faster, trust me. I compare them all the time and this phone does everything with ease. Gonna still hold on to my evo for a while though. Although the phone is fast, there are some slight bugs that need working out. Back to speed though. This phone is awesome at games and the evo just doesn't seem able to keep up. The photon plays every game with ease and that includes tegra games.

You are going from an Evo 4G to the Motorola Photon 4G, the first Evo was an evolution, and now we've moved on to HINT: BIGGER and BETTER things, to the Samsung Epic 4G, Evo 3D, etc, now you are here with a NVIDIA Tegra Dual-Core Processor with 1GB Ram, and roughly 9GB internal memory, and I would say AT LEAST 60% Faster.
Remember, you're with NVIDIA.
If you ask me to define NVIDIA, I'd say FAST!!!
the quadrant scores completely crush the evo
ill do a screen grab if i get some time at work
Photon Speeds = Much Snappier/Faster Feel...
I just sold my beloved Evo for the Photon via BestBuy a little under 2 weeks ago. I really, really did not want/plan on giving up my evo. But BB offered me 149buks for the evo and i took it.
Back to the OP question. Is the Photon faster? YES, you will notice from first use it feels much snappier. I will equate the speed difference to that I felt from my HTC Touch Pro 2 to the Evo. TP2 was slow, Evo felt really fast, Photon feels even faster. I thought the Evo was super fast, and it is. But I really didn't think there could be a big improvement over the evo in a phone. Luckiy I was wrong
I know your never supposed to ask for an ETA but.... Is anyone on the Cyanogenmod development team planning on supporting the Photon? I am a minimalist & want my phones running AOSP.

1. It's a lot faster than the old EVO which I also had.
2. DO NOT upgrade, wait for the Samsung in September. The no audio on phone calls is a very serious problem with the Photon and one that shows no signs of being fixed 100% by any means or method.

I have absolutely loved my evo since launch but I'm getting itchy to upgrade to the photon. What is holding me back is all the little bugs being reported. Sounds similar to alot of the bugs in the initial evo launch. I was lucky with my evo but I don't want to push my luck with the photon. I think I'll wait a few months and see how the issues shake out.
Evo OG could leap tall buildings in a single bound. P4G can leap 1 and 2 thirds buildings in a single bound.

You will notice the speed difference in most things. Dual core runs Android much better.
As for the comments about waiting for the Samsung Within, tired of hearing about it honestly. I was excited about that phone coming and have heard great things about it. However, still no guarantee it will be faster than the Photon or do some of the things the Photon does. Plus, when the Within actually does come out it will just get trampled by the quad core offerings potentially coming Q4 this year/Q1 next year along with all the other phones.

Its a dual core phone. So web browsing, load times, app loads system writes reads, a lot will be faster. Motoblur sucks, so the home screens, Widgets and most everything that isn't CPU intensive lags like hell, like on any blur phone.
I played with the photon extensively and decided to go with the 3d simply for sense 3 and the pentile display pixel issue drove me crazy
The photons to gonna be faster, by a lot 95% of the time, have better battery, get better reception, take better pictures, and turn on faster.
Being an og evo owner also, I have to ask... why don't you like the 3d?

False. What's your source for that? I know my source is reliable, and there is a fix in the works at Moto right now. The problem has been pinpointed, and an update should be out shortly.
The wife and I were in a 4G area today and did some side by side speedtest. My Photon averaged double her speeds on here EVO. Ran about 6 test each and it was almost double everytime.
I went from the OG 4G to the 3D to the Mo-Pho & I am definitely a happy camper! Wrote uh blog about it, like the hear it? Here it go:

Evo3d vs photon?

Hi guys, I currently have photon which I do like. I I hate motoblur, and end up rooting it and removing sprint bloat, installing different launcher, sms app, keyboard as photons stock offering is very much lacking.
Now, I always love custom roms which makes phone snapper, and right now, photon doesn't really have much to offer as far as dev goes at all... Specially due to unlocking method which kills 4g and so much workaround required to get it working.
I have an opportunity to trade my photon in for an evo3d. As far as raw performance gods, which is better? Is tegra chip much better than the dual core in the evo? I know that with the evo there is much more development going on to say the least, but is the device pretty comparable performance wise? Isn't photons display a little richer? Even though both are qhd?

Im going to give the best opinion before a battle breaks out. Go with whichever one your happier with. There both good phones.
Free Dirk!!!
The display on the EVO looks better in my opinion because if you look close at the photon it gets all colored its the pentile display. You will get mixed results about which phone has more raw power. The biggest differences are 3d vs global. The EVO also has an asynchronous processor and the photon doesn't. It's preference. Personally if I need my phone to last I can get a good 17 hours so I don't know if battery life is that important. But a lot of people saythat the photon is faster. I couldn't give you a verdict on that. They are both great phones.

As a owner of both.
Display: the 3D has a slightly crisper display but even with the brightness all the way down the Photon is still view-able in sunlight. Even with the brightness all the way up the 3D the screen is barely usable.
Battery: the Photon is heads and shoulders above the 3D. I'm a heavy user and was able to get more than a day worth of usage.
Radio: Photon wins here again. Locks and stays connected to 4G, 3G and voice signals much better than the 3D. The 3D would always drop connection on me whenever I tried downloading larger files.
Performance: Quadrant scores don't mean much but I consistently got around 2700 on the Photon running at stock speeds. The 3D only got 2200 max at stock speeds, the only time I got 2700-3000 I had to be overclocked at around 1.5Ghz. Remember the photon is only running at 1Ghz ( no overclocking available yet )
Sense vs. Blur: Sense adds a lot of apps and additional functionality but I do not use much if any of it, so for me it's just bloat. I prefer to replace rosie with Launcher Pro. The HTC gallery would never load my picasa album but the Photon's gallery loads my pics fine.
I never used the 3D functionality on the 3D but missed the kickstand on my OG Evo so the kickstand on the Photon is a welcome sight for sore eyes. The kickstand works in every orientation except upside down.
I travel over seas a lot so the gsm roaming is also a great addition.
Before either device launched the Photon was my original choice but being a gadget geek like most of you here, I caved and got the Evo 3D because it launched first.
There you have it, my summation of the features specs that are important for me.

I thought about it too. I switched to sprint from Verizon. I had a Droid x and decided to go with an evidence 3d. I had it over night and took it back and got a photon. It's way better than the evo. I'm not one for htc's sense stuff. The speaker is louder on the photon, camera seems better, and the phone is lite weight. I also like the trimmed edges

Sprint is throwing all their money into marketing for the Evo 3D but the Photon is a better phone bar none. The Photon would be a beast if it had the dev support like the Evo 3D.
Even without the dev support the Photon is still better.
I'm rooted but the bootloader is still locked so no real modding/customization as yet.
I have 30 days to decide but I think my mind is already made up.
The Evo 3D almost made me switch to Verizon, that's how bad it's radio issues were for me.

Wow, the issues you have or had make no sense. HTC radios are updated and improved more often and faster than any others I've seen. Price for the photon already droppped a hundred bucks at bestbuy. The only feature the photon has that I'm jelous of is the dock to t.v. control. Other than that laggy and and the too much plastic feel are overwhelming for such a high end phone.
And their off!!!!

Upgrading to Evo 3D - anything I should know?

Tomorrow I'm getting my Evo 3D GSM - which is an upgrade from my HTC HD2.
What should I see to be different (besides the obvious 3D). Will I get better battery life? My HD2 is currently getting around 4-5 hours of life, idle, and using 2-5ma an hour.
What roms do you recommend? Does ICS support 3D (besides camera)? Are there any roms like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1482664 that have 3D support? And does LeeDroid have 3D support? I don't want 3D for all the time, but just to show friends.
Are there any good tweaks that are out there for the Evo 3D? Any recommended accessories?
Thanks,
Snowled.
Battery is fine if you aren't a super heavy user. No ICS roms have a functioning camera at the moment, and AOSP roms do not support 3D in any way.
Leedroid fully supports all functions as it is based on official HTC firmware, and is imo the best gingerbread rom on the device.
If you want to squeeze the most out of your battery I would recommend using Anryl 10.07 kernel and setting a low conservative clock speed for screen off, and an interactive clock speed for screen on via SetCPU.

I got mine for one month and i love it. I am from a Nexus One wich was heavily customize, flashed, bricked, unbricked, bootlooped, unbootlooped, etc etc...
Yesterday i unlocked it from HTC, flash the amazing 4ext touch recovery, but as my hboot is 00018 i'm still S ON but i am currently on leedroids rom and its great !

Well the ICS Sense versions are actually 3.6 and 4.0 . But to answer your question no, they do not support 3D at all as they are mainly based on the Sensation (3.6) and One S (4.0) official firmwares, neither of which have any 3D libs or support whatsoever. Until an official EVO 3D ICS firmware comes out, there will be no perfectly working (eg. missing 3D, camera, bluetooth, USB mounting etc.) ROM for ICS.
Definitely invest in an extended battery. I got me a 3500 mah and love not being too dependant on an outlet throughout the day.
Well because off the 3D it takes longer until we get full function ports that also have the 3D.
An spare battery could come in handy. I think its a very good phone, only HTC One S and HTC One X are in mine eyes better then HTC Evo 3D and both don't have the 3D.

Sounds like you need to get a new battery for the phone, if it's sitting idle and only getting 4 to 5 hours.
My recommendation... Don't buy it... It's a year old, and you'll wish you held out just a couple more months for a "One Series" phone.

First, the Evo is in no way one year old ... First time available at the end of juny in USA only !! More than two months to go only for Sprint Version ...
Second, why to hold out for One Series ? Costs more than 300€ up than Evo and what can it do better than Evo ? Right, nothing ... No microSD, no changeable battery, too big, expensive, ...
Great - you get a bit more sharpness and quad core thats not even lagfree ?! 599€ lol

Hardly, it has a natural 1.51ghz dual core aka the same as the One S and USA version of the One X, and 1gb ram which is 256mb MORE than the One S and the same as the One X. Not to mention it doesn't have that disgusting pentile style display and has fully removable external storage and battery. The One X's only saving grace is its screen resolution. Sense 4.0 is a non issue as it will undoubtedly be ported with full functions when the official RUU of EVO 3D ICS is released.
The EVO 3D is still a very strong phone and at the current prices it would be madness not to get one.
Oh and it has 3D .

If the price difference between the HTC Evo 3D and HTC One X wasnt so big I would also recommend that.
But its really worth buying it, I bought it for € 289 and now its in MediaMarkt germany again € 269, so price dropped € 20.
Anyway that is less then € 300 for an really good Android phone, its even better then the HTC Sensation XE which is overhyped because off beats audio.
In mine country you will pay about € 320 for it orso, its still cheap, an HTC One S, which is better then Evo 3D would cost € 479, but has some cons.
Honestly? It's not a bad phone. I had an LG Optimus 2X until a few days ago (I was running them side by side for a month-ish), and the optimus had pretty much everything better (IMO!), except half the memory and smaller resolution screen. I would say the reception is slightly better on the EVO 3D. I would say technically the O2X was the better phone, although I do think it would REALLY benefit from having more memory.
I don't really care about the 3D at all, but the number of accessories and just I preferred using the EVO 3D made me sell the O2X. I don't actually like sense however, although it's easy to use.
Also.. 'friend steam' kills your battery, I wouldn't use it lol.
Bottomline, the Evo is still a good purchase for the price (as long as it's not still high). If the newer phones are anything like the price of the Evo 3d, then then 3d isn't worth getting and you may as well get something new like the HTC One X.
I really think the other guys recommendation NOT to buy the Evo 3D is completely missing the cheap cost of the Evo 3D (for most people). If you are getting it on contract it might not be worth getting, so do your sum's first

Less RAM, horrible pentile display, non removable battery & memory. Hardly "better".

Sounds like you need to get a new battery for the phone, if it's sitting idle and only getting 4 to 5 hours.

I bought another battery and it had the same problem. It would only charge to about 50-70% over a full night (12 hours or so), so I would need to wait 2 days to use my phone again. It had this bug with NAND cLk Android & normal WP6.

I would have gotten a One Series but I don't earn as much as I would like to, so I bought a phone that seemed that would run good yet be in my budget
Anyway, thanks guys for replying, I can't wait to get mine today
Don't buy it

i came from my hd2 about a month ago. got it cheap 229 from asda. Never thought i would get rid of my hd2 but this phone is a big improvement. the battery life is better. more importantly everything just works.
I was a flashaholic on the hd2 but not touched this phone which says alot about it imo.
I think you will be fine.

Thanks,
Snowled.

Go on amazon.com and get the wall charger with 2 batteries. It's well worth it. Under $20 and very nice to never have to plug ur phone in. Yeah u gotta rip the back off and switch them all the time but this thing starts up so fast compared to my og EVO it doesn't even matter. U will like the phone. These new evos not having replaceable batteries has got to be a bad thing. I dont know how it will ever get rooted if u can't get urself out of s bootloop lol. I haven't rooted my 3d yet cuz I don't really like the methods out right now and with it getting ics I probably won't even bother.

As a fairly new Evo3D user I can say it's a great phone and I see no reason not to get it. I upgraded from a Samsung Moment and have been impressed with the power of my new Evo3D, which is a beast compared to the Moment. The only thing I don't like about the EVO3D is that it doesn't have a physical slide keyboard built-in; I loved that feature of the Moment and am still getting used to using the inefficient on-screen touch keyboard.
As for ROMs, I first flashed the Fresh v4.2.0 because it is basically a better version of Stock. Fresh runs excellent on this phone and battery is good. Now for the past few days I am testing MeanROM v3.4 with Chad's Anthrax kernels, and still trying to get it working right. If I can't make an Anthrax kernel work well I'll probably go back to the kernel that came with Fresh as I had absolutely no problems with it.

Anyone coming from the Gnex?

If so, what do you like about the evo over the gnex? Anything you miss from the Gnex?

I had the galaxy nexus and absolutely hated it. What your missing going to the evo lte is horrible battery life and crappy signal not to mention the horrible GPS that has been on every Samsung device I have ever tried. The evo lte I have had for a few weeks and haven't looked back once. The evo lte is far superior. Ohh wait the one thing that the gnex had over the evo is the easily able to be unlocked bootloaded. That's the only thing that I miss. But as past has shown we have awesome developers here so it shouldn't be too long before s-off is achieved.

I still got the galaxy nexus and I still haven't made my decision but galaxy nexus is really great phone I prefer some stuff on the galaxy nexus and some stuff on the EVO lte... Both great phones tho

Ok, what about from a performance standpoint? The Evo LTE will run me about $150 more, think the difference between the two justifies that? I'd be waiting for some cm9 on the evo lte anyway fwiw.

Performance for some reason they both feel snappy, the gnex multitasking feels better (since it doesn't closed the apps half of the time) games feel good on both I'm not wow by the 720p screen just yet but give me some time. Aokp and black ice roms are my favorites. Sense is sense if you don't like it you won't change your mind, I'm still undecided which one is better for me, I didn't like the one s much will see for this one, screen size is nice and design is awesome IMO, the nexus all black looks really good too
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
I think from a performance standpoint they are both on par with each other. Me personally I couldnt stand the gnex as the service was unstable. I would loose signal and miss calls and I was sitting in an area where i had decent coverage. It wasnt the greatest coverage but it was decent. The Evo Lte has much better battery life than I could ever imagine. I am getting at min 17hrs per charge with LTE enabled and searching, wifi on and bluetooth on. That to me is worth it. The gnex i could barely make it 4-5hrs before i got the infamous low battery warning.

Alright, I spent a solid 2 hours in the sprint store today, and I was pretty torn, so I decided to see why some people made the switch and why. Thanks for the input guys.
What do you think of the camera? In looking at countless photos posted by people Evos, I find it really doesn't look much better than my GNex. And how many hours of battery do y'all get (and screen on time)?
I think the battery is great. I am sitting at 12hrs 32mins right now with 16% remaining. This is with the lte option enabled. Screen on time is just under 4hrs. I have been trying to run thru this battery pretty hard today as well. I am extremely impressed with the battery. Typically I can easily get 17+hrs on a charge but I have had androirc running in the background most of the entire day.
As for the camera I personally think its far superior than that of the gnex. Video is just unheard of quality.

Camera is definitely better and battery too but not removable :/, I don't think you might want to pay extra only for those two features alone tho. Just saying

How much are you lovin' it? (A positive thread)

There is a lot of 'My new phone has bugs' threads, and maybe rightly so, as with any new device... But I would like to make a positive thread about how we are loving our EVOs!
Love my screen size
The functionality that Sense gives me
My 64gb SD card
People ask what phone I have once they see the back design
Google wallet usage
I've had more comments on it's kickstand that I had with the EVO 4G's kickstand for some reason.
I love how thin it is (coming from an EVO 4G)
The awesome battery life (I'm seeing about 16 hours yeilds around 20% battery left the last few days
Happy to stay with Sprint and tether unlimitedly (within reason) hehe
I love having root and having the same features that my EVO 4G had when I left it
The MODs already available that I've applied
Looking forward to the ROMs that really turn me on. I haven't flashed any just yet. Waiting to see what gets cooked up.
I'm very happy with my phone.
Any noteworthy experiences you've had with it being out and about?
I'm pretty impressed so far.
+Battery Life
+Screen (way better than my Epic 4G and I compared it to a co-worker's ATT Galaxy II and there's no comparison).
+Fast, loading some apps tooks forever on my Epic 4G. Really see the shining power of an additional core and +500 mhz
+Faster 3G speeds, not by much but hey I'll take what I can get
+I much prefer Sense over TouchWhiz
+Kickstand, I place it right infront of my laptop at work and it doesn't budge
+Unlimited data, even if it's slow I don't see justifying an additional $20-50 for other data plans on Big Red or ATT (I use over 5GB a month normally).
-Google Wallet: not sure what Google's deal is here, maybe they're withholding due to Sprint's plans but I managed to fix it with the build.prop/SU workaround but for those who don't want to risk root/messing with files I can see how this is frustrating, especially if they have $10 burning a hole in their phone (not wallet, cwutIdidther?)
Neutral: Multi-tasking. I can see where people get frustrated at this but I don't have 4-5 apps I need open and re-opening them isn't a big deal to me. Sometimes I use Pandora and I like a song, pause it, do something else, then return to it and it re-loads and loads a new song. Kind of annoying but whatever.
I love the phone to. This is my first HTC. My last was a nexus s 4g. (great phone btw). I like the build quality and sence. The speed and battery are amazing.
I love when someone whips out their iPhone and my screen is as big as their entire phone.

Loving NFC right now, holy crap where was this 2009 ago?
Digging the Camera that has put to death HTCs long history of $#itty white balancing. The instant shutter brings tears of joy to my eyes.
Finally nice to have some decent internal memory for once.
And the screen, the money maker, superb.
This will be the 1st phone I'll be holding onto for 2 years (or plan to anyway) since the.... well ever.
I'm enjoying it thus far. I had an HTC TouchPro, a TP2, the OG Evo, the Evo 3D, and now the Evo LTE. Not really an HTC fanboy, but the phones they've put out on Sprint have always met my needs, and there's always been an upgraded one available when I got the upgrade itch.
I love the battery life, the screen is awesome, and the camera is phenomenal, especially for a phone camera. On the whole I like Sense, and it's one of the better interfaces for Android I've played with in terms of integration and functionality that it adds. I don't like how buggy and laggy it can get, how it can slow down the phone, and how it has a few settings/features I wish were easier to turn off, but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives.
I can't wait until the dev community matures some more and we see some different variations/tweaks, a fully functional CM9, a wider variety of ROMs, and some themes to throw around.
Oh, and after flashing Freiza's kernel, a lot of my slow down/lag has dropped out. Add in the PKMN ROM with both cores, and it's a much improved experience with negligible impact on battery life. WIN!
Fantastic camera (for a phone).
Amazing screen quality.
Phone is solid, does not feel cheap.
Sense 4.0 is great compared to other Sense versions. It is nice to see a more "less is more" approach from HTC on this one. Of course it is still heavy compared to AOSP, but it is very light compared to older Sense versions.
Went from launch day EVO, to launch day EVO 3D, then to this. This phone feels very light (my 3D had a Seidio Surface case on it, so it weighed a bit more than normal). I love the camera features that come stock on this compared to the last two EVO phones.
(Everyone who posted so far got a thanks from me for the positive comments. It is nice to see a positive thread for once. Seems all people want to do is complain these days, not here specifically... I mean in general.)
The other day someone asked me if it was an iPhone, that says enough for me. Seriously though I am very happy with this device and sorry to see so many issues being reported. I don't have a single one.

- I love the screen, it's gorgeous. I thought the screen on my Epic 4G was amazing and this blows it away (and the screen on my Transformer). It's really fast, has a great camera and amazing battery life. My friend has the GS2 and I was wowed by that when he got it, I thought it was super thin and fast and the Evo makes that look like a dinosaur.
Oh yes I'm lovin it, can't wait until all the awesome new development starts to flow (MIUI) and any and all tricks and hacks.
this phone is already very nice and it will only get better, I love my new toy.

If you format the 64 GB card using the phone, it works. I have a 64 GB card in my Evo LTE right now.
Well I said it with the og EVO. And now ill have to re state that this is the best phone I've ever had. Solid. Smooth. And just works. I absolutely have no issues with it that occur any more than a 1 time thing. Don't and probably never will understand the issues others experience besides obvious user error because this thing is awesome. Now just waiting on sprint to make it more awesome with nv or LTE.

I was enjoying my Evo 3D again after finally getting it rooted and running MeanROM/SOS ROM, but I really wanted a better camera to capture pictures of the kids. The GS3 had some appeal but I didn't want to wait and decided to give this one a try first.
- Display: I'm addicted to it and don't think I could give it up. I sometimes prefer watching this than all but my newest TV.
- Kickstand: With this screen and all of the great apps now out for video, this actually is really useful, and the design of it is superb.
- Build: Design is nice, hardware feels super solid. I don't love the glossy plastic part but don't hate it.
- Camera: almost prefect for my use. It's so fast and the UI is very nice. At a kids birthday party over the weekend at a bounce-house, I caught a lot of decent photos and videos I would never be able to get before. I find my photos a tad over saturated, but it does give them a little "pop" that my family seems to like better
- Battery: I wasn't sure about the battery life at first but its great now. I don't mind the non-replaceable battery.
- Storage: With the on-board storage and a 32GB card, plus the 150GB of cloud storage I have among various services, I certainly have plenty of space. The storage configuration with MTP and partitions is a little goofy, but not a huge deal.
I have some gripes about it, but almost all are software (Sense bloat, HTC multitasking killing background music and downloads, the lame multitasking UI, the no-menu-button-3-dot-popup). Once I bite the bullet and root this thing, all of those problems go away.

Lovin' the dedicated shutter button and fast camera, battery life (compared to my previous HTCs), fast processor, and large screen size.
Lovin' how great the phone looks with a sanded top cover. I'm lovin' Charmeleon ROM 5.0 too.
I've received compliments from others on the super IPS display with wide viewing angle. They also love how thin the phone is.
Much love for this phone!
Image sense rules
Battery life and performance are killer
Form factor plus sense 4.0, sexiest phone ever
Seems like multitasking was better stock than on a custom rom. Currently on fresh 5.1.1
When LTE finally rolls out in LA, iphone fools will be drooling

I have been on viper Rom now since yesterday with the menu mod.
I can definitely say this Rom is slightly more responsive, and I love the menu button 'fix'.
I believe this Rom brings out the best in what the stock was already making good. Oh, and i have seen improvement on multitasking. It's not perfect, as stated in the roms thread, but it is def better.
