Hitting the button at the top right didn't work? Are you rooted?

Yea I'm rooted. I can mount r/w when I'm in the /sdcard side, but as soon as I go to /system it goes back to r/o. Hitting the button at the top right doesn't do anything.
Can you try ES file explorer? See if that works. I don't have root explorer so I can't really provide you a sufficient answer.
Appreciate my help? Thank me
did you s-off, flash recovery, flash root? then bootup and install busybox? latest stable busybox is 1.18.4, you can find a busybox installer in the market by stericson, works ok.

Okay so i superoneclicked my vibrant to gain root and install bisy box. I purchased root explorer off the market and tried to remove the avatar apk but its says its a read only file. Wtf. How do i get rid of all this bloatware without having to flash a custom rom?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Check to make sure it is mounted as r/w. Across the top it will say "mounted as r/o" or r/w with a button to change it to the other.
R/w = read/write
R/o = read only

Top right, but yeah.

d/l and install Titanium Backup
it will show all apps including stock bloatware that you dont need, click on uninstall and wala! gone!
The bloater app is helpful for installing or removing stock apps.
so i have s-off, root, custom recovery , the works......but y cant i UNINSTALL stupid bloat? i can disable, but not uninstall via an app like my 4gevo ........is me just stupid?
Hummm. Well what have you tried so far???? As in apps??

did you already flash the su zip or a rooted rom?

Get Root Explorer and use that, or if you're not sure and need to make sure you have root access just download busybox from the market and it will check to see if you have root, that's a fast way to determine if your root access is functioning or not.

Every root app should work except ones that depend on kernel mods (i. e. market version of Wireless Tether). I used Root Explorer and Titanium Backup to take care of my bloat and all went well.

Go to the development section and search for Vipermod, that's the best way to uninstall the bloat

Nevermind, I used viperboy scripts and a reboot later and the bloatware is gone from the app drawer as well. I'm not sure if it was viperboy scripts or titanium backup that removed it from the app drawer but a reboot helped.

Running into strange issue.
Have complete root. Using root explorer, root user granted.
When i first go into the program I can set to R/W. However, once R/W is set and then I go into the system folder it goes back to R/O. If I back out to the first page it goes back to R/W.
It's very weird that it'll only stay R/W on some folders and not others.
Any ideas what might cause this?
UPDATE: I uninstalled root explorer and downloaded ES File Explorer. Gave ES root permissions, and hurrayyyy. I can delete the bloatware.
Although I have superuser operating fine with terminal emulator, and when I type SU into terminal it gives me "#" sign, Titanium Backup won't acquire root. Does anyone have any ideas?
Edit: I've tried reinstalling TB and seeing if it's upgraded/patched.
Edit2: I've installed busybox and made sure SU is updated. TB still won't find root even though it says i'm rooted in TB.

Use es file explorer from the market.go into settings and check box to show hidden files then look in /data/bin/ delete any files in that folder then reboot and TB should be fine.

Thankyou. I checked show hidden files. Still didn't see anything. Than I checked "root explorer" and "mount system files". Than I found data/bin and deleted everything in side. Rebooting now.

I think I saw on here that if you update via OTA you may not be able to mount system with r/w permissions.
Try and create a file in /system

That means you cant write to the system partition (delete need write permission).
I'm pretty sure someone posted a fix, do a search.
Also you should reply to @Envious_Data he's trying to help.

You only need root on your phone, then run the recovery installer on your pc and it'll do the rest of the work. ADB drivers must be installed don't forget that. instructions and download here, read them carefully and you should have write access in no time.
