HELP! Bricked Phone / flashed Kernel as Modem - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I was in rush and flashed CF Root KG3 with Odin but not as PDA... i flashed it as a Modem.
Odin tells me FAIL but now i cant flash anything more. It's recognized in ODIN but always says "setup up connection". So i cant flash a real modem or a kernel.
Didnt rebooted the phone because its staying atm at the download mode.
Hope you can help me.
ouch.

Okay uhhhhhhhhhh rebooted phone in download mode and reflashed modem.
Everything fine now.
Last time i did this at work.

You are very lucky, on most phones that would have been a hardbrick

[Q] Why can't I root again?

Okay so I rooted my Note once using Odin and left one rom on it for months. I recently needed to take it into the service center due to a stretched out charging port so I downloaded and flashed the stock .tar via Odin, now I'm trying to reroot it again using the same Odin method I used the first time and my phone just gets stuck on the bootscreen. I've reflashed the stock .tar and tried reflashing the root 3-4 times now and nothing is changing. Could somebody let me know what I'm doing wrong? Is there another way to get my phone rooted again? I tried just installing superuser and rom manager thinking maybe it was already rooted and they didn't work. Thanks.
You should be first flashing CWM.
Then you can flash a rooted rom.
All you need is your phone in Download Mode (not recovery mode) and Odin3 ver 1.85 on your pc, then flash the CWM tar in odin's PDA slot.
As to your current problem, if you are GB you have to flash a GB rooted kernel. But possibly your phone is ICS now, so you have to flash a rooted ICS kernel.

Alright thanks I'll try that out, I was under the impression that I needed to root before I could use CWM, as to being on ICS, I don't think so seeing as I was rooted using the same rom for the past few months and haven't updated it, I didn't even know ICS had been officially released until today lol thanks for the info I'll try it out.

[Q] Brick? Sudden Death? My ideas are going out

Hey guys!
I think i could use some help on handling my GT I9300
I was on Paranoid Android 3.15 and flashed miuiandroid_m0_jb-3.4.12
It worked for me for about 40 hours- no problems at all.
While i was setting up my phone and reinstalling my apps clockworkmod told me that there is an update. I could update to a version that i already installed a couple of days ago but somehow the app showed me i am running on an older version. After trying to update clockworkmod it told me that an error occured while updating.
Didnt take care of it because i went to bed and wanted to continue later this evening.
Some hours ago (i already used my phone as usual) my phone restartet and stuck on the samsung logo.
When i plug in the charger no led turns on. Sometimes the Samsung logo changes to the charging animation but it seems that the animation is frozen.
I cannot enter recovery mode only download mode.
What i have tried till now was:
trying to flash a stock rom with odin 3.7- Odin told me something like there was no pit file found.
trying to flash an odin flashable cutom rom- some error as above.
trying to flash a 3 parted rom with pit file- odin was stuck on "Get PIT for mapping" and nothing happened for about 60 minutes.
I have uses both GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit and GT-I9300_mx_20120329.pit

MODEM_I9300XXLE8_REV02_REV04_CL1145430.tar.md5
On Odin 1.85 the repartition fails
Now i am pretty clueless and i hope that someone could tell me a solution
Oh i almost forgot.
in Odin mode my description is:
PRODUCT NAME:
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
Thanks in advance!
You could try flashing CF-root with odin and see if that works. If it does you should have access to recovery.

Oh i sorry. forgot to write down that i already tried this aswell-but without .pit file. That was one of my first ideas because i wanted to avoid repartitioning.
Same error in odin- no pit found.
Should i try to just flash cf root with the .pit file? or would this cause even more damage?

i dont know if this will work , but you could try it , try flashing resurrection rom from the checkrom website through odin in download mode
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNaQfdOi56E
Is it possible to flash only recovery image with Odin? I've been doing that with Mobile Odin, so I guess it might be possible with Odin as well?

This was the custom rom i mentioned above. Have forgotten the name so i only wrote via odin flashable custom rom. Same issue there "there is no PIT Partition"
The "best" result untill now was trying to flash a 3 parted rom with PIT but odin seems to freeze on getting pit. Or at least nothing happened after an hour
Usual is wrong PIT for your phone or PIT partition damaged .
Take it to a service centre .

I went to my provider today and gave it back to send it to service. I don't seem to be the first one who gave the phone back with the same issues. Usually it takes about one or two weeks till they have checked the phone and decide if the repair or replace the phone. Today the nice lady in the shop told me that they will send it back on monday and a replacement will arrive on monday aswell.
Thanks anyways

Bricked phone, Odin can't load the system.img

Hello.
I tried to flash stock XEO ROM to my S3, but while the whole process it stuck on loading system.img. Then when i tried to turn on the phone it shows me the yellow triangle and info that i can recover the system with Kies. But it also didn't work. I tried to flash other stock roms but it always is stuck in booting system.img
FIX:
I downloaded different roms and different ver. of android
Tried to flash several times with pit file and without but it was still stuck at system.img
I tried different ports and the result was the same
I changed the cable and reinstalled drivers and I succeed to flash 4.0.4 ver without pit file with odin 3.07
Have you tried flashing stock rom via ODIN?
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about I tried several times and it still doesn't work :crying:

Did you try install stock firmware with PIT file?
If you have 16 GB version of GT-I9300, you can try this PIT file (I tested on my device).
Odin 3.07 with PIT file;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2762337&d=1401023420
Download a stock ROM from sammobile, then put it to PDA. Before start flashing, press PIT button on Odin and select the PIT file, then press Start.
I decided to send my phone to service, when will it come back still bricked I will try it
Ok, I will get my phone back UNFIXED because they told me at the service that i have to pay for changing the firmware because my phone comes from other country.. I disagreed and told them to send my phone back.
I had an idea how to fix my phone and also some questions about that.
First, is there any way to full wipe my phone without recovery, I mean that i can;t access recovery on my bricked phone and i think that causes the problem with flashing any rom with odin (that the brokem rom i still installed and odin can' flash the new one over it). When I'll wipe the phone completely i suppose it might solve the problem. But does wiping the phone makes the phone unrecognizable for PC?
The second idea is kinda connected with the first one. I thought about flashing cf root with odin into my phone and as far as i know, it has its own recovery so i can easily wipe the phone with it and then flash the stock rom.
I know that my reply looks kinda messy but I hope you know what i mean.

Sgh-1777 never rooted stuck in odin

never root boot loop stuck in download mode SGH-1777 Won't do anything else? HELP?:crying: I read your other threads but it is stock and I have no clue on root.
I just want a working phone! My new S7 won't even turn on!! No matter what I do?? Kies won't even see either phone! I tried uninstall and reinstall didn't work either. Please help me?
Deleted by poster.
Well you said i777 then you said s7. If you have a i777 you're in the right forum. The s7 forum is over there somewhere.
Download the MD8 firmware odin tar file, put phone in download mode, connect phone to computer, then flash it. If that gets it working ok, if not then throw your phone into recovery mode and do a data factory reset.
What StoneyJSG said. The odin file is found here
fast download
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347826277
slow download
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/15434/I777UCMD8_I777ATTMD8_ATT/
You will need samsung usb drivers and odin. There are many guides on how to flash stock fw with odin.

Odin flash stuck at ODM.img

Hey everyone,
I was on stock with my S9+ and because of my slow carrier regarding updates I wanted to flash the latest BTU firmware from sammobile on it.
I downloaded everything, went into download mode and everything went well until the ODM.img file. Now it just stays like that without any error but also not going forward.
I do not know now what to do and how to get it flashed and working again? I am afraid, if I cancel the process now that I will not be able to boot again.
UPDATE:
First I was trying to do it with ODIN 3.13. Now I decided to try with ODIN 3.12 and after clicking on flash it just flashed the moden within a few seconds and rebooted the phone saying it was successful. At first it was strange because it did not flashed the system and took only 2 seconds, but the phone booted fine, with the data still there but on the newest firmware.
So, seems like the issue was in the lates version od ODIN, like always.
I'm having the same issue. Trying to flash unbranded XEO firmware on branded S9+. Everything goes fine till ODM.IMG. Older ODIN isn't flashing anything, phone just reboots.

I tried this as well and also got stuck at the ODM file.
It's quite safe to hold down Bixby+Volume down+Power when it gets stuck and just repeat the Odin process.
I concluded that you can't use the Home CSC file when changing firmware from any other to BTU (or any other different operator version). The only way to do it was to allow a complete wipe of the phone by using the CSC file not the HOME version. After that everything went OK.
As a tip, if you are currently stuck at odm.img then restart the phone in download mode (Bixby+Volume down+Power) and as a temporary fix to get your phone back, use Odin 3.12 and flash all the files AP, BL, CP and Home CSC. It will go through very quickly, it won't change your CSC nor will it wipe any data. Then use Smart Switch to make a backup, then repeat Odin with all the files but use the non-Home CSC file which will wipe the phone, and when complete restore via Smart Switch.
just flash with .pit file and see the magic
