Can't hear out going calls on Airave. - HTC EVO 3D

Sprint seems to be no help...
I installed my airave last night, today I have full bars where normally I would have 1-2, I can receive calls no problem....but if I dial out all I hear is some random techno robot sound....
Sprint had me update my prl and profile....then reset my airave...
It's back up cause I def have full bars, so I tried to call out....same thing...
Anyone else experience this? Oh, they also had me change my network settings from automatic to Sprint only....
Sent from my s-off'd 3VO

Sometimes I would get that on my og evolution randomly... Never did figure it out... Reboots usually fixed it.
I always wondered wtf that was all about.

Was it solely on outgoing calls? I honestly don't mind, I rarely use my phone ad a phone...so if i had to unplug it on the rare instance I need to make a call I could live w it if they can't fix it

I bet you changed something in your EPST settings. I had that problem too.

yup...never had it happen on inbound calls ever. only outbound...and as previously mentioned I was also suspicious of EPST being messed with...I'm pretty sure that would come about when I'd force roaming...or take it off of forced roaming. I don't recall exactly...but I know it happened on AOSP and Sense roms.

That sounds possible....I think the only change I made was the one that was supposed to speed up the internet....I will have to try finding that thread so I can set it to default....thanks

Was that something you changed on your phone? Or was that setting stock?
The reason I ask is because I have an airave and don't have any problems with it at all.

I had that issue as well. Couldn't figure it out. I called sprint & one of the rudest reps I ever talked to explained situation & they said it was the internet connection. Had me go test it and everything was good except quality of service was to low. So she said I was just screwed cause I probably won't call my internet provider. I appreciate the tip on the voice quality settings, I will try that.

I'm probably gonna have to do the same too. Sprint told me it could also be your internet connection. Read page 14 or 15 of the details in my Free Sprint Airave thread if you like. Forgot where exactly I wrote it.

HELP!!! Not receiving calls!!!

Ok, so I haven't rooted my phone. It's completely stock. I am not receiving ANY phone calls. First it was just sending them directly to voicemail. I did a PRL update and updated my profile. Now all I get is it ringing 5 times, then goes to voicemail, but it doesn't come through to my phone.
Any ideas?
Just tried making a couple calls. Wouldn't go past "Dialing." The phone went into Roaming, and now it's making calls on Roaming... WTF!?

Call sprint on from another phone, they'll fix it.
Try calling Sprint from another line and talk to them. For data are you on WiFi?

I'm on the phone with Tier 2 right now. I'll post results. So far, they have reset the switch from their end, and had me verify that my "Mobile Network" was turned on.
Update...
They're saying that there was a ticket created in the area this morning for an outage issue. They're saying that the domestic voice may be down, which is why I can only make calls when my phone goes into roaming. They're checking into it further.
If anyone is interested, it's over in Orlando, FL 32819
Went to lunch down the road, maybe a quarter-mile, and was able to make a phone call without a problem. It's gotta be a tower. I asked a couple people in my office and it turns out that the BlackBerry devices that everyone uses are also having the same problem in the building. Sprint was on-site yesterday looking into it. I guess they're working out at the tower today or something... Maybe taking long breaks in A/C because it's so ****ing hot outside today.
I've had the same problem with Sprint for the past month in my house. Traveling a few miles down the road (new tower) and no issue.
Sprint sent me an Airave for my house and now calls/data come through.

Roaming

Before S-off my 3vo would automatically switch over to a Verizon tower while roaming, now after S-off Verizon towers can no longer validate my 3vo and wont roam on that system? Is there a fix for this or is it going to stay like this?

sorry but do you mind telling what for roaming is needed?
you can internet/ 3g without roaming right?
what is it for?
He's saying his roaming is borked, I assume he ran an update of his prl, when he makes a call he probably gets a message from Verizon saying his phone is not registered. Sprint will probably want to do a re activation.
You roam on Verizon when a sprint signal is not available, which is quite common for me.
Also check your settings in the wireless and networks section and see if your set to automatic and not home only, and roaming guards are turned off. S-off does do something to the phone authentication so its up to sprint to fix it on their end.
doesnt roaming cost money?
meh i have everywhere connection to my provider,
99% coverage.
I just rooted a few days ago and can't call on verizon either, calling sprint tonight.
use sprint chat, makes things alot easier and faster
tried chatting 3 times, getting error 1012, and so far no one can tell me to do anything except pull the battery or update the profile
try just making a call while ytou are not roaming, you will most likely get and error 16, and if you hold long enough you wil;l be routed directly to sprint to the security dept. who will fix your problem
I just got off with Sprint chat and said:
I am getting an error 16 and need an HRL refresh

There's an app for that, roam control, but its kind of shady, it dosent work when you need it most. Obviously you don't have a working signal and no data, it has to check for a license every time before you can use it. So if you don't have data and need to roam, your sol until the phone itself decides to roam.
Trying to get fixed... Said I had to be off phone, what did they refresh?

It shouldn't check the license every time you run the app...it doesn't for most people. I'm trying to figure out why it does this for a small number of phones, hope to have some type of correction soon. Thanks! -MrGreg

Its anybody else receiving text messages late? Mine come in on time sometimes but when it doesn't it ranges from 7 to 40 minutes late. I know its sprint since I don't have this problem on the VZW prl. I called and they said they put out a ticket or something like that. Is this happening to anybody else?

Welcome to the ****ty Sprint network
The fix? Get a Verizon or ATT phone
I'm really considering it but I'm just not sure about the monthly raping I'll receive
At least youll actually be able to use the data you pay for on Verizon
I would do the same but thankfully I am in an area with Wifi most of the time so it doesnt matter that the data speed is only 40kb/s and no 4G service.
I wish my speeds were that fast smh
Google voice integration did this to me. Disabled integration and went back to normal.
Also been having problems with missing/late texts ever since i linked it to google voice.
no, but sometimes mine will come with the timestamp way later than it actually is, which is also annoying.
So sprint called me asking if I noticed any improvements, I told them to call me tomorrow so I can test it out....its the same no improvements

garbled distorted calls

I am having trouble with distorted or garbled phone calls. I have wiped and reflashed the latest Mean rom. I've also flashed the latest radio and PRI, as well as updating profile and PRL. I cannot get this problem to go away. Some times it is clear, but mostly it is garbled.
Anyone got any ideas? I thought about an APN problem, but I haven't messed with APN'S since my old g1 days and I am not even sure the evo lte uses them (or even where to find them) .

Hmm...its very garbled. Basically unusable. Although I haven't heard about bugs in the update, it doesn't seem right. If everyone had distortion like I am experiencing there would be a revolt.
Thing is, at times it is clear. I flashed an old nandroid and it was gone. Then went back to mean rom and it was back. Wiped and reinstalled mean rom and it went away for a bit, but now is back.
Even stranger, calls to my Google voicemail are perfectly clear. Turn around and call some one and it is garbled.
May call sprint and see if it is a configuration issue. Pissing me off.
And it's clear again. WTF??!!
Wonder if these darn tower upgrades are responsible.
The last poster read my mind, as I experienced that here in LA. As soon as Sprint started upgrading the towers in our area, the voice garbling began, and after much complaining to customer service, Sprint sent me a free AIRAVE.

I can tell you this has nothing to do with rooting, roms or the like. I have a completely stock EVO Lte that has never been rooted or even plugged into a computer! My phone is completely stock and I am having the same problem with my phone. If I make a call and the call quality sounds good to me, it will sound bad to the other person. If I make a call and it sounds distorted (garbled), it sounds fine to the other caller.
I am getting completely fed up with this phone. I called sprint SEVERAL times to get a replacement because of the wifi/gps problems, and I insisted that I did not want a refurb phone. The rep said it would be a new phone (after many HOURS of phone time with Sprint CS) What they sent me was a refurb, and a POS at that! Scratches, loose back cover, the red around the camera flaking off! I am not going to accept it and will be returning it tomorrow at the Sprint store! I am going to call them while at the store so they can "hear" my newest complaint!
I tried to swap this phone within the first 14 days, and the Sprint people insisted that it was just them working on the towers, so I waited. Then after that 14 days window was passed, all the CS reps said was "if you would have returned it within the first 14 days..." Makes me sooooooo freakin mad!!!
If your reading this, and have the same issues, it is your phone. PERIOD. Call Sprint or go to a retail store and complain, complain, complain!!!
It's the Network
My wife and I have both been having this issue a lot recently. Me on my E4LTE, and her on the Galaxy SII. I really think it's the network, not the 4G. We started having the issue right after Sprint started their HD Voice upgrades. Sometimes calls are perfectly clear, sometimes their slightly garbled, and sometimes they're completely broken up. I'be been through the ringer with Sprint's Tech support with no luck at all. I think I'm going to switch to Verizon once our contract is up (which is a shame because I was very happy with sprint and the EVO up until this problem).

Slow Mobile Data

Hey all,
A few weeks ago, I switched from MeanBean to Jelly-Bam ROM. At the time, I thought this was a Jelly-Bam issue, but I'm pretty sure it's not now. When I switched ROMs, I noticed that my data was slow. I work in Baltimore County, MD and lost my 4G signal. I have occasionally seen 4G at home since I noticed this issue, but it's rare. I typically only get 3G and often it's less than 1MB/s. I tried switching back to MeanBean and that didn't help (I had updated the radio before switching back, I would think that would only help). I have updated my radio (currently running 1.12.11.1210) and that hasn't helped. What made me think it's not the ROM is that my wife has a stock Evo 4G LTE and she also has slow data speeds. BUT, my brother has an S3, also on Sprint and in the same town and he's getting 4G fine. I do have my have my Network Mode set to LTE/CDMA (actually on Jelly-Bam it's LTE/CMDA/EvDo). I'm running Jelly Bam 7.8.0 (CyanogenMod version 10.1.0-RC2-jewel). Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions as to what could be the problem with my phone. If I can provide more information, let me know and I'll get it for you.
Thanks so much in advance.
Baltimore and supporting areas are still going thru LTE upgrades, it's still on-off for some areas. Annapolis is lit 100% as far as I can tell.

Is your evidence of the S3 pulling in 4G while your device does not anecdotal or have you performed a side-by-side comparison? The answer to this will help us narrow down your problem.

Unless things have gone backwards, I don't think that is the case. I used go get 4G in Baltimore. I've seen as high as 25MB/sec, maybe even higher. Now I don't see 4G ever down here. (I've seen it a few times at my home in York County, PA since this issue, but it doesn't last long and the fastest I've seen is maybe 5MB/sec. But most times its 3G and less than 1MB/sec.)

My evidence is based on my seeing absolutely no 4G at the time (I've seen a few few times briefly as noted in the post above.), while my brother who is less than 1 mile away see's great 4G (faster than his home wifi so over 15 MB/s). I have consistently had terrible speeds around town while he consistently has good speeds. No, we have not stood side by side and done a test, but I know how my signals used to be and how they should be and I'm nowhere near that.
I was actually near the Key Bridge last night and where I usually get LTE or at least have in the past, I got solid 3G, I tried airplane method and reboot, switching from CDMA back to LTE to no avail. Soon as I got back into Pasadena the LTE was solid. I never was sure about the differences between the Samsund devices vs. HTC but for me, the signal is sporadic which in the past has been due to Sprint upgrades. Hope it gets better and check out the SG4RU site for specific information about your area. Thru have a ton of info that will let you aware of the work and or upgrades in your specific area in Baltimore.

It just doesn't make sense to me that Sprint reception would decrease by so much and (as far as I can tell) completely lose 4G coverage at my work and mostly lose it at my home at the same time, while my brother continues to receive great service on his S3. I just don't see how that could happen.
Does anyone have any other ideas? Any ideas what could be wrong with my phone? Anything else I can update? Any settings for me to check that I might have missed? (I feel like I've check them all, but I'm up for anything at this point.)
Thanks in advance. This is driving me nuts.

I'd like to throw my own recent experience in here.
My wife has the OG Evo. I have the Evo LTE. While I do not get LTE in this area, I still get 3G coverage. The other day, out of the blue, my wife's 3G quit working and she has next to no service while I have solid coverage, and yes this is side by side.
Call me crazy right now because if what I am about to say, but I have this inkling of a feeling that Sprint is directly behind her almost completely losing signal in an area where 3 towers surround us to attempt to get one of us to call in, complain, and get coerced into an upgrade (she's due for one as of June 1st, go figure right?
I've noticed this happen whenever I was due for upgrades on my older phones too such as the Hero, Moment, etc... if I could pinpoint what they're doing, if they're doing anything, they'd be in some majorly serious ish.
So, I called Sprint and they walked me through #72786# update on my wife's phone. Apparently both of our phones were "off the network". We went through it for my wife's phone and it put it back on the network, whatever that means, but it didn't improve her service. They're now telling me our options are to take it to the nearest Sprint store with a repair center (the closest 2 are about an hour away each) or pay the shipping to return it to HTC.
They told me I could do the #72786# update on my phone and that it would not get rid of my root. Does anyone know this to be true? I'd like to try it on mine since they say it also is not "on the network". Because it does a firmware update, I wanted to check to see if that would interfere with the root access on my phone or my ability to gain root again, should I ever get rid of root.
Which brings me to my next question, if the above is safe for my rooted phone, I try it, and it does not work. How do I go about returning my phone to it's stock configuration? I've read a little about RUU, but haven't been able to figure out enough of it or where to get the RUU to feel comfortable doing it yet. If I do an RUU, will I be able to get my root (and s-off) rights back on my phone? How about if they try to bring my phone completely up-to-date? Is there a way to root currently up-to-date phones?
I know I've packed a lot of info and questions in there, but I would really appreciate any help and answers that people can give me. Thanks so much!!

Did your wife ever update her profile? I'm 99 percent sure sprint isn't cutting off her 3g. Check the link in my sig, bottom of post 1 faq, those steps will work for the og as well...

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, we just updated her profile via System Updates-->Update Profile. If there's more to it than that, let me know. I'll take a look at the link in your signature too.

Yeah there is quite a bit more to it. Is she rooted? Because that will help save her data if a hard reset (##786#) is in order...

No, she is not rooted. So for now, I figured I'd start with trying this on my phone. Unfortunately, the MSL reader app wasn't able to read it. I'm actually in an old version of my phone. I'm going to install my last backup and work from that since I'm somewhat hopeful this will fix my problem. I might as well do it from my latest ROM. I'll have that up in 10 minutes or less and I guess I'll try to work through your instructions...
If it works on my phone, I guess I'll go through it with my wife's then. I have everything important backed up on mine. I'll have to check hers real quick to make sure she doesn't have any recent pictures, but I think those should be on Dropbox. I assume it will tell me before I might have to do that so I'll know to double-check everything if it comes to that.
Sorry if I've asked any questions that are explained in the instructions...I just wanted to reply and now I'll continue reading through them.
Hard reset on your phone will wipe everything in data/app as well as your internal sd. Your external will be fine as well as your wife's external however she will lose all apps, sms, mms, call logs, bookmarks via stock app, as well as any system settings.

Note: All these fixes must be preformed on a stock or stock based rom with epst support and make sure you are in a known good signal area

So I should not be running these from my Jelly-Bam ROM? Or is that OK? If not, should I run an RUU will holding down volume while powering on and doing a factory reset work?
Thanks so much for your help!

As long as you have epst support you are fine. Just try one of the codes... If it works your golden.

I guess if it tries to dial and says "The feature code you have entered is invalid" or something like that, I'm not golden...

Yeah, I didn't dial. But when I hit the last #, what I entered before goes away and nothing happens.
Will these changes stick through a new ROM update? I guess I'll try them on the last stock save I have and then try to restore my MeanBean ROM (the last ROM I had that worked with 4G...Jelly-BAM seems to be what broke it.).

Yes these will stick through Rom updates. I know epst works on meanbean, viper, operation jellybean, and the sense 5 port from my personal experience.
