Thanks
One turn phone OFF .
Two read the millions of battery posts on here .

Install any 2.3.4 rom to get a major battery life boost. Also get Juice Defender (preferably Juice Defender Ultimate) and set it up to your needs.
With this I can do 2,5 days with one charge and regular browsing/texting/etc.

SOMEONE !! HELP !!
I need to find out which ROM has the best battery life, can someone point me in the right direction pls....
Thanks

Try them all. It all depends on how you use your phone. There's no magical rom with great battery life.
If you use your phone a lot, go for a ROM which isn't overclocked.
If you want the longest idle time before recharge, I think you should set the "conservative" governor as a screen off policy and you will be fine. Of course you can also disable features such as data but you will loose many useful features of your phone. Unlike what some people says, disabling GPS doesn't improve battery life as it isn't used except when you start an application which use it.
Battery life is most affected by the screen light.
And with every rom you have to callibrate your battery. Most people with poor battery life haven't done this.
The Froyo roms are the best options because the are faster and less stressing for the juice.

They all have the same battery life (give or take 5 minutes)
All pretty similar.
Use an underclocked kernel, play around with brightness settings or use an app such as ultimate juice / juice defender to regulate 3g / wifi usage

How to callibrate my battery??
My Hero just lasts two Days with 691mhz Flykernel 11 and Elelinux 2.1 and no 3g.
I just hear a lot of music with it, connect it a few to wifi and play some games in the school.....
How long does your batteriest last?
Thread moved to Q&A not development related

You say two days without a charge with occasional wifi use (wifi on, screen on, phone signal on), and games playing (sound on screen on, processor busy) like it's a bad thing...
Since the mid 2000s phone capabilities have been surpassing battery performance at a remarkable rate. With the advent of the iphone and the gaining popularity android smartphones, phone feature demands have exploded while battery technology just isn't anywhere near providing the kind of battery life we expected on our dumb phones, ie, don't bother packing a charger for a two week holiday if you charge up before you leave.
This is a large reason why new technology is being created with more efficient manufacturing processes, smaller dies, etc etc, as it is easier to reduce power consumption at this time than it is to build slim, cheap, high capacity batteries.

Mine struggles to get a day battery life, with not very heavy useage... how do i calibrate my battery?
not to sure where i should post this... q&a vs development
i've had the thunderbolt for 3 days now
rooted + tesla + lean kernal 1.41 extreme (slotted at 1222)
i can't seem to make it more than 8 or 9 hrs with minimal usage
when i look at app usage with system panel app none of my apps are eating at the battery... and display really isn't taking that much either
i should note that this also with 4g off (wifi off gps off low display setting)
i doubt it's a kernel issue cause i've tried 4 different kernels
the battery life on this device can't be this horrendous with all of the above mentioned. i'm coming from a motodroid and i would make it 7am to 11pm no problem with pretty good usage.
thoughts?
Give it a week or so. I had horrible battery life too, but now I get 15 hours on light use and it's only at 41%. This includes the 6 hours I slept.

didn't follow that...
you're saying after 15 hrs of light use you're at 41%?
that would be much better
fixed
after wiping battery stats via recovery my battery drainage is completely fixed...
getting incredible battery life with tesla + lean kernel (extreme slotted at 1222)
thanks
Make sure you turn off 4g when not in use. I have mine set to 3g only since I don't get 4g where I am. I'm also running Tesla and battery life is incredible with moderate use.

I've posted on other threads about the battery on this device and figure i'll reply here also. I've had the phone about 2 1/2 weeks now, have not attempted to root it yet but tried getting the extended battery, using apps like battery doctor, watchdog, juice defender, etc... even battery calibration on the original battery as well as the extended and still had very poor battery life. Luckily since I got this from Best Buy Mobile and they have a 30-day return policy, I am going to take it back this thursday and exchange for the new Samsung Droid Charge.
I am bamf remix 1.6.2 using the standard kernel. Will juice defender improve my battery life?
I've never used it. I'm using the updated kernel 4.4.6 OC'd all the way up on demand. Really liking the battery life.
my brother swears by juice defender on his thunderbolt but i haven't used it myself FWIW
All it really does is turn off your data connection at certain times, so yes it should improve battery life. I have never used it nor do I plan on using it. I bought a smart phone so I can always be "connected", I do not want my data connection to be cut off. But hey, if you don't mind it just might help you.

Green Power works better for me on the Thunderbolt.

You practically will be connected almost all of the time with JuiceDefender. It will turn off you data when not in use, but you can set up an internval where the data will turn on for however long you want for it to sync data like email.
Juice Defender didn't always turn 3g back on for me and I had to reboot to get it back. I lose a lot of battery when I reboot so I uninstalled this app.
I do use juice plotter and love to use it to manage my battery life, see trends and find out what I can do to stretch my battery life when needed.
I use JD Ultimate and think it does more than simply disconnecting your data. For example you can reduce the amount of data you receive which has greatly improved my battery life when I mostly needed to use my phone for things that did not require a whole lot of data.

Ken, I am currently using Juice defender on the Tbolt and have seen some improvement, more like 5 percent an hour down with medium usage versus not having juice and dropping 10-12 percent an hour.
Still nice to have the extended battery.
I'd like to give the green power a shot as Pzy suggested.
I have had good luck with JD. Only use when I'm at work or out and about when I'm not using the phones data much and need the battery to last.

Same here. I tried juice defender and it was just OK, it added maybe an hour of usage.
But I tried the free Green Power last week and it added 4-6 hours of battery. Then I bought the full and with nightmode on, I am now at 1 day 8 hours since unplug with 23% of battery left. Display eats the lion's share, followed by phone calls.

I just grabbed the free version, and it is saying "Only Wifi management is currently supported on your phone"
I don't know if this is because i'm running CM7 or if its normal.
Good call andy. Woot.

It works fine here but I am unrooted. I use the power widget and I can see the network and wifi turning on/off.
It might be CM7.
The disabling/re-enabling of radios was way too finicky for me, plus the fact that I didn't really notice anything but negligible gains in battery life.
I just bought the extended battery for $25 (got Verizon to give me a half-off discount) and called it a day.

It's gonna depend on how you use your phone. For the most part Juice Defender will only save your battery when your screen is off and your not using your phone. However you can set it to disable the networks when certain apps are running as well. So I guess it could save you a little if you had it set up for certain apps you use a lot that don't require a network connection (i.e. games).
I have been using Juice Defender with the stripped bamf rom and kernel. When my screen is off my battery is barely used. For example I went to bed at around 12am woke up around 6am and only lost 2% of battery.
I love JD. Yea i bought a smartphone that wants to stay connected but honestly it doesnt need to. Ive probably doubled my battery life, dropping maybe 1 percent in 3hrs, MAYBE, when its idling. I really like it. It doesnt take long for 3g to enable when i need it too, and plus i can enable it from the notification bar instantly.
I'm talking ROMs, kernels, apps to help, ANYTHING. I'm almost literally sick by how awful this battery is. I made my EVO 4G last 2 days on heavy usage(how I always use my phone) with juicedefender running. Now juicedefender doesn't seem to help even a bit and my phone ends up dying in 6 hours TOPS so I need to start focusing more on ROMs geared towards battery life. Help?
Edit: before people assume I haven't researched this. I bought an Anker battery (still hasn't shipped), taken heed of everything in the battery life tips thread, AND reduced my auto brightness as suggested in that one thread. These fixes give me negligible amounts of power.
Edit 2: after turning off all user apps that start up with my phone my phone has a wake lock that I can't get past.
I personally think that the Virus 2.3.3 Nightly (gingerbread) ROM runs very well with the lowest amount of battery use. Some things you have to get used to, but overall I love using it. I'm on my second day of no charge (although I do have a 4500mah battery) - and still have 30% left. And I am on my phone for hours sometimes. So with a regular battery I would assume you could get a day or more. Use the stock Ziggy's Kernel that comes with it. Then, if you want even more battery out of it, use Virtuous OC to underclock the CPU to below stock settings and you should easily get more than a day out of it with pretty hefty usage.
A different ROM that wasn't my personal favorite but is definitely a good ROM for battery saving is Viper's. His is sense.

Juice defender definitely drains battery by running in the background. The 3D is already capable of disabling 3G while screen is off.

Hi,
I want to know about your experiences with Juice Defender (free version), especially on ICS phones.
Is it really useful? Does it really "expand your battery life"? Or did it become obsolete like most of the "task killers"?
at mine it does it very good, i do use the ultimate for 6 euro's on market... it really helps me since it makes it able to let my phone hang in the whole day instead of 8 hours. if u really need more battery live just buy a bigger battery along side, i use anker 1900 mah

I use it on ARHD ICS and to me it does seem to help. Could just be a placebo effect but I don't care, it's staying until I see otherwise.
i used it before (when i had Inc S)..... didn't feel any benefit from it while i was using it.
The best one
Hi guys
I try several pay and free apps ( include Juice defender ) to save battery but the only one I recommend and use to save at least 50% battery is Super Power from XDA Developer
Trick - On settings - Disconnect data for 30 min and reconnect periodic for 2~3 min to update mail, and all internet connections
Give a try
Best regards

Correct me, but isn't the development of SuperPower discontinued? More than 1 year ago?
I think I will give JuiceDefender another try...
I had juice defender on my nexus one and it was amazing. Phone for two days with moderate use. However when I installed in on my galaxy s2 it actually seemed to drain battery. And fast. Same settings and everything
