I am in the midst of following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212239
Was on step 8, flashing the EC09 radio. ODIN finished what it was doing said RESET, THEN PASS, like it should. The message box said that the actions had completed sucessfuly. Phone shut off to reboot, and just stopped. Now it acts like the battery is dead. Power button does nothing. VolDn+Power does nothing. Did the phone just commit suicide? Plugging it into the computer or a wall charger, no response.
EDIT: Never mind. I freaked prematurely. Had to pull the battery out and now got back in to the downloader. Starting over from scratch.

I picked up a used Vibrant last week and it initially worked fine. However, it still had 2.1 installed so I decided to update to 2.2 with Kies Mini. After 4 hours of screwing around and with it and much searching of forums, I finally got it upgraded, but something seems to have happened to the phone in the process.
The phone acts like the USB is permanently on, even if no cable is attached. The USB plugged in notification stays on even when the cable is unplugged. After I charge the phone and unplug it, the battery indicator continues to show that it is charging. The main problem is that the phone gets stuck in some kind of loop when the phone is turned off and never truly turns off. Initially, what would happen was that the little loading circle indicator would appear then the battery charging icon would pop up for a moment. However, since there was no cable plugged in, it would disappear. After several seconds of a black screen, the loading circle would come back up. This loop would simply continue over and over. Pulling the battery and putting it back in did nothing; the loop would just start over again the moment the battery was inserted. The phone would not respond to the power button while this loop was going.
At this point, I was still able to get the phone to boot by plugging in the USB cable, waiting until it started to charge (with the green battery icon) and then hitting the power button. This went on for several days. Today, I decided to take the battery out for several hours to see if anything would reset. However, things only got worse. The loading icon still pops up but now the charging icon doesn't come up, even if the USB is plugged in. I just get a loop where the loading circle pops up, disappears, comes back, and so on. I am now also not able to power on the phone with the power button.
I am still able to get into download mode (but not recovery mode) so I flashed everything back to stock using Odin and the instructions on this forum. This does get the phone booted back up, but as soon as I turn it off again everything starts all over.
So now I have a phone that, if it is ever turned off or loses power, has to be reset, wiping everything in the process. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Is it some kind of bootloader issue?
Odin, put 2.1 stock rom back.
Like the post before me mentioned, Odin back to stock 2.1
And personally, I'd much rather install stock froyo with ODIN rather than KIES.
Or just use a Custom ROM altogether.
As I mentioned in the original post, I've already restored the phone with Odin several times and it has absolutely no effect. It allows the phone to boot once but as soon as it is turned off again the loop starts over.

I have heard of KIES updates screwing phones before! I would contact T-mobile and tell them the situation....letting them know its used and had stock T-mo 2.1 and after using KIES to upgrade to 2.2 it screwed your phone.
Eventhough its used and You didnt buy it from them, they would probably fix it for you for free since their update program caused the issue...If it was a stock phone then they will probably fix it.
edit: in your story to them, leave out the part about you using ODIN...i am sure they will call that a void of the warranty.
Hi guys,
Hoping there are some experts out there who have more wit and experience than I do with my phone :-/
Something very peculiar just happened to me. I got a Samsung Galaxy S Advance from my company, but since I have another phone I decided to upgrade it to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 using Odin to root it. Just like the poster above, Odin said "PASS" but didn't reboot my phone. Not even a flicker on the screen. When I try to boot it myself I see no activity that the phone is even charged or anything. The battery is charged, so I have no clue what could be wrong. What I've tried so far:
1)
Unplugged it and tried to boot it normally, didn't work. No sign of life.
2)
Took the battery hour for 1h+, boot normally, didn't work. No sign of life.
3)
Took the battery out for some time again, boot into download mode, didn't work. No sign of life.
4)
Take the battery out, put it in again. Hold down volume UP and volume DOWN simultaneously, power on. Didn't work
NOTE! When the phone is plugged into my PC and I do this, the computer makes a beep indicating something is being recognized as plugged into the computer, a second later it makes a beep indicating something was unplugged... nothing more happens.
Please help. I'm rather new to Android phones, and I would appreciate any assistance
Thank you

Hi there!
I have a friend who has this phone, Nexus 4, which has some problems..
Out of nowhere it startet to not start. It boot up fine, gets into Android, and the first thing it does is shutting it self down. I get the message "shutting down" and there is this "loading screen" as if I had done the shutdown sequence myself.. Which I am most definitely not doing!
I thought that deleting everything and doing a foctory reset would do the trick. This turned out to delete everything, including the OS. After that happened the red light of doom started showing up. It turns out the phone was completely drawn for battery, which I fixed by putting the battery in a "professional" charger. The same charger I power up my RC batteries with. When this was done it once again booted, and I got to flash a new 4.4.2 OS onto it.
And then it starts to shut itself down again..! Every single file is deleted and reseted. I have even switched out the battery with a new one. Just too be sure..! Does anyone have a trick I could try?
Thanks in advance!
I let someone sublet me for me. When I got the apartment it was a mess. The whole place wasn't cleaned in weeks and it was a nightmare. (He left the faucets running and flooded the carpets)
I tried to find him but apparently he skipped town.
In his garbage I found an Edge. It was in excellent condition.
Tried to plug it in but the power didn't work. Broken?
I walked down the street and bought a factory plug. It would boot but stuck at 0%
I did some casual Googling and I was able to get into the boot menu (Volume Up, Home, Power). Reboot and got to his lock screen.
Repeated the above step but this time, did a factory reset.
It worked. Set up my account and was in the phone proper. I liked it, but still can't charge past 0% (need to stay plugged in)
Tried to do a factory reset but from the phone's menu this time. I forget the exact wording but error said it couldn't perform the reset and to use Smart Switch
Thought it was odd so I downloaded SuperSU and sure enough, confirmed it was previous rooted.
I assumed this explains the power problem and why I couldn't factory reset.
Waited to get home. Forget the name of Smart Switch so I decided to prompt the error again. However, when I went back to try to factor reset via phones menu, it reset without issue.
Now I am getting: “DM-VERITY VERIFICATION FAILED” ERROR
(thedroidguy.com)I looked into it and apparently I'm soft bricked.
I have the phone plugged into my computer now and got into Download mode (Volume Down, Home, Power).
It flashes for a second and my computer acknowledges that something is plugged in. Smart Switch says I'm using an Unsupported Device.
If I plug directly into power I can get to the download screen and hit up but have nothing happens.
Please help. I am staying in a hoste. I am wet, cold, and want to fix this problem to sell this phone and make my hard earned money back!
Any help can be great!
I found a youtube video by Rootjunky.com (/YJi_w5c0KyE) but I can't figure out what the firmware is since I"m in a boot loop. Worried about picking the wrong one..
Samsung Galaxy Note 2, rooted, carrier unlocked. Running Straight Talk.
On my computer today, I finished getting directions on Google Maps, then clicked to send to my phone. As soon as I clicked that link on my phone, a gray block with a progress circle popped up, then disappeared. This continued in a 1/2 second loop. Nothing else responded. After a minute or so, I popped the back and pulled the battery. I put the battery back in and it wouldn't boot. It does nothing. At all. It is completely dead. I've pulled the battery many times, tried to start it in safe mode, and recovery mode. It does absolutely nothing.
I need it up again as fast as possible.
Any suggestions?
