Can anyone point me to a post thats not 6 months old and not compataable with this build on how to achieve this, or offer advice on how I can achieve this with and without roms. Thank you guys for keeping the development community going strong!!
One More Question

Hello, I have a BeHero + v1.2 Rom on an Orange unlocked phone. Can you guys please tell me your opinions about this one, good & bad points, and if there are better Roms to choose. I'm a bit new to this, and trying to find my way around.
Thank you.
Get yourself a proper 2.1 release for the Hero. BeHero is ported from another device.
You can choose between Kimera 1.8, VillainRom 12, Cronos 2.0 and some others.
Hi, What do you mean from another device, and are Kimera 1.8, VillainRom 12, Cronos 2.0, alternative Hero Roms for Orange unlocked phone, and all 2.1 android? Thanks,
I would say VR12 is the best right now but thats just my opinion
Yes you can use Kimera, Villain or Cronos,... Or any other ROM from this section. As long as it is for GSM HERO you are ok.
I think BeHero is ported from the HTC Legend maybe, or Eris?... but anyway, the newer ROMs in this section are made from an actual Android 2.1 ROM made for our Heros, not a port from another device.
EDIT... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE POST IN GENERAL or Q&A NEXT TIME!!!!!!
It means that Behero was designed for the Droid Eris and was customized to run on the Hero.

Be nice please. We all started off not knowing much.
Yes, I am trying to learn. Rankjie was obvioulsy born with this knowledge and did not have to learn.
Thanks for the info about which Roms, so many to choose from. one more thing, I am reading that many drain the battery quickly. Any ideas on one which does not, as nobody wants to charge every single day if it can be avoided.

roms based on the old leaked 2.1 kernel drains much more battery than roms based on the new 2.1 kernel, hoewer most 2.1 roms use the new version so unless you pick an old rom you should be ok, I would reccomend villainrom 12, it is fast, energy efficient and has a lot of cool features.

Roms:
Last time I flashed a room was to my unrooted Galaxy S2, and it was with (then freshly released) 2.3.5 Frankenstein ROM. Now I find it to be to laggy and want to change to a better performance one. Am even considering overclocking.
Which up-to-date ROM is recommended for Speed & Performance?
Also for other newbies reading this thread that might be interested in battery life instead:
Roms recommended for battery saving?

(seems easy to follow compared to some threads on how to root on here)
ISC Release:
I really want to root my phone but considering that ISC will be released for my Galaxy S2, I don’t know if it’s worth it since it might wipe my phone and my rooting will be gone. Is it worth it to root now considering I really don’t know when ISC will be released?
I will be greatly appreciative of the one answering my questions, and fellow newbies will hopefully be too.
My Phone’s Current Info (want to be sure that my phone doesn’t have some wrong rom installed before I root)

Roms: Everyone's taste is different.
Root: Everyone's taste is different, but this is probably more straightforward than the one you linked (you might be noticing a pattern in my answers).

So what you're saying is that everyones taste is different?
Of course I understand that everyones taste is different when it comes to the launchers, thats why I asked which one do YOU recommend. Don't feel like downloading them all.
When it comes to roms though, how can you say everyone's taste is different. I asked which ROMS have the fastest results (quadrant score) and lags the least. That has nothing to do with that everyones taste is different
The point being with everyone's taste being different is that regardless of what we recommend, you are still going to keep on switching based on the opinions, hence there is no difference between us telling you what is best, to you finding what is best, you're still going to experiment. Anyways I prefer tw.
Rom? I don't know. Really i could care less about benchmarks, I could cheat off one to make my phone look like god and yours a piece of crap, and at the end of the day, they still run the same. Frankly they are all the same to me, no difference in speed, etc, just a different UI. It's not hard to try a couple and compare, try it. Unless spending a couple of bandwidth downloading roms and sitting down and trying a a rom for an hour is totally a workout for you then I see no reason for this thread.
Root? Does it matter? If you can read and understand it shouldn't matter which technique unless you are in some ways mentally deficient. There is nothing big to rooting, you only need to be able to read.
ICS? That isn't even going to come out officially anytime next month or so. Maybe next year, but not this year. So if a couple of months is a short time to you, then please, don't flash a custom rom and wait a couple of months for the iCS release.
All of this will depend on you and what suits your needs... from rom kernel radio launcher tweaks... blah so many variables....
Closed like all others...
Flash away tweak find feel some reward for DIY ;-)

I have recently started my own ROM work. I wont really call it development until I learn what im doing
I was curious to see if anyone would be willing to do a little beta testing for me and maybe give me a hand with some future mods!
If you'd like a try at my rom please pm me.
XWKL1 base with entropys latest dd
Mods so far:
Deodexed
Zipaligned
Took out a massive amount of bloatware
Modded camera
Fancy rotation animations
I think that's all for now. Im mostly focused on battery life and a VERY stripped down OS for speed.
Thanks everybody!

Best thing I can suggest is to go look in general Android section and i9100 sections at the tutorials and incorporate them and learn that way. No better way that song it trial and error, gl man

I've see many people made the team to build Android ROM (for example CM7 and CM9). And i have question, can i build Android ROM by myself or one person?
There also it things that go into roms that a lot of people are not aware yes anyone person can build with the correct type of skills but just because your familiar with how to build it doesn't mean. U might not need assistance if you want build roms I would start by checking out android kitchen and start from there its a starting point for new people like u and me does that mean your rom will be sweet ass cool no but its a starting point

I was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction - there's a ton of SGSIII forums on here and I don't know where to find the right info. Lots of dormant forums and dead ends when I go searching. I have an unlocked rooted Verizon SGSIII d2vzw / SCH-I535 on stock Android 4.4.2. I'm looking to upgrade it to the latest and most stable custom ROM. Mostly for security reasons, but if there's any performance improvements that would be awesome. If that doesn't pan out I'll probably have to give in and buy a new phone, and I'm not very impressed with anything they've built in the past 5 years.
Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!
