the actual flash process does not require usb debugging on, as long as the phone enters flashmode(hold back and then insert usb cable) the flash shud work, when the phone turns on and has been setup then u shud do as flashtool says and tick usb debugging on
so just to reiterate, open flashtool, press flash select ur desired firmware, press flash, flashtool prompts u to enter flashmode(hold back button then insert usb), flash will automatically begin, once flash is complete unplug usb turn phone on, wait till its booted up and gone thru setup NOW u can selct usb debugging and unknown sources

Hi,
i have the same problem here, it's been a week since i started trying to flash this bloody X10a. Still no success, i can't even turn it on! Everytime i try flashing, i get this:
20/006/2011 16:06:55 - ERROR - (X10flash.java:260) - Error flashing. Aborted
20/006/2011 16:06:55 - INFO - (FlasherGUI.java:826) - Now unplug the device and power it on
20/006/2011 16:06:55 - INFO - (FlasherGUI.java:827) - Then go to application settings
20/006/2011 16:06:55 - INFO - (FlasherGUI.java:828) - turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging
So, my question is: Is it possible to turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging with a phone that won't do anything else than get into flashmode after 20-30 minutes of USB Charging and back button holding. The phone won't charge the battery either.

C'mon guys..no matter what is up with your phone you can repair it with pccompanion....

[Q] Unfixable Problem... Someone Help

Hi,
I've had a useless X10 here for months. I've done everything to try and reinstall the firmware including SEUS, Update Service and Flashtool. Nothing works and I cannot access my phone.
I was hoping I could get it working with the new flashtool. After running it and connecting the phone, it's giving me the error:
12/000/2011 22:00:44 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted
12/000/2011 22:00:44 - INFO - Now unplug the device and power it on
12/000/2011 22:00:44 - INFO - Then go to application settings
12/000/2011 22:00:44 - INFO - turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging
The problem I'm having is, I haven't been able to get my x10 to turn on. Is there a way to flash without having debugging enabled?
Thanks.
Try to reinstall the drivers
are you rooted?

Have you looked at this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
Try this:
1 - remove the battery and wait for 4 - 5 minutes;
2 - reinsert the battery;
3 - put your phone to charge in a wall socket (not thru USB);
4 - leave it charging for about 3 - 4 hours (check if the led is on);
5 - try to flash a stock rom using flashtool.
My X10 has an issue with the battery that makes it power off and not turn on while I don't do steps 1 and 2. I've tried to reflash a stock rom, but had received the same error you have, until I put the battery to charge during the entire night. After the recharge, I was able to reflash the rom fine (altough the problem of shutting off randomsly still happens).
Hope it helps.
I've tried using flashtool after charging my phone for a good 10 hours. It takes around 4-6 hours to flash 7-8/10 files then the battery dies.
Nothings working. The new flashtool demands the phone have unknown sources and debugging enabled but I can't since I cannot access my phone.
And if it matters at all my phone was rooted with FreeX10 rom.
GTFIH X10 geeks, help me.
when it just wont work
CHARGE PHONE TOO 100% BEFORE STARTING ANYTHING.
First ALL FLASHTOOLS Have to be done in Administrator mode on your PC/laptop and this may also fix that messed up usb port you seem to have on it to. You should NEVER charge you phone for more then 2ish hours in fact it should only take about 1.5 to 2 hours if not then you have a bad one. Also you should check that your usb drivers are up to date before you start. And Be Patient.
Had the same problem last year. What you need to do is uninstall all Se software Pc Companion an Se update Sevice and all Java.
If you have a registry cleaner and or an uninstaller (not windows) like Revo Uninstaller free or Pro use it to uninstall an clean registry. (BUT NOT IN Administrator Mode only Flashtool needs this)
Do a disk clean up Local Disk C:drive/right click properties/click disk cleanup/click all boxes/Click run/clean.
Reboot wait till stack OS/drive light stops flickering (stops loading).
Yes boot again.
Reboot wait till stack OS/drive light stops flickering (stops loading).
The first boot sets up your cleanup the second boot starts a fresh boot cycle again wait for full load up light stops.
Reinstall all programs letting them update them self. JAVA first Pc Companion then Se update Service rebooting on each one NOT all at once (waiting till stack OS/drive light stops flickering (stops loading) each time.
This helps your stack/drive stay clean.
If you do not have 7zip (free) you should get it now an download an install it reboot PC (waiting till stack OS/drive light stops flickering (stops loading).
When connecting phone to PC use a different USB port then the one you used at first.
Now Start Pc Companion and let it do it's thing, do as it says, connecting phone to update Pc Companion to it.
Then do the same for Se update doing as it says and do an update and/or repair.
If it says to unplug or plugin USB just unplug/plugin the USB on the PC not the phone and making sure that you put it back in the same USB port.
Create a folder on C: drive:
Right click Start/Explore/Click (high light) Local Disk(C) click file/new/folder/
right click new folder/rename/Flashtool version ?.?.?
Download And Save to Folder you made on the C: drive
Firmware Files:
(use a Stock/Generic firmware first like 2.1.1 for your region)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10738467
FlashTool version ?.?.?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Install Flashtool on C: drive:
After downloading file to folder go to file and in it a rar file
Right click 7zip file/Select Extract to Flashtool ?.?.?
Reboot wait till stack OS/drive stops loading (light stops flickering).
When using Flashtool do not unplug USB from PC and when plugging in for flashing just remove battery plug mini USB in phone hold back button an put battery back in.
While Flashing NEVER TURN OFF/CLOSE FLASHTOOL until the phone is up and working completely.
After putting firmware in folder.
Right Click/x10Flashtool/Click Run As Administrator.
And follow the instruction in all the guides and all should be good.
NOW READ THIS POST FIRST

With the SDK what would I have to learn to fix the phone?
Can you get in to xrecovery if you can clear all. If not try pluging in to usb xrecovery should come up. Sorry so late I'm not at my pc all update this when i get home.
Sent from my X10a using XDA Premium App
make sure you have a sim card in the phone, that might get you past your problems
Do you have x10.sin in loaders in flashtool?
Is your USB cable connected through a hub? There is absolutely no reason it should take anywhere near that long to flash unless your connection is to slow. I tried flashing while plugged through a passive hub and it would get to ~70% and fail everytime until I plugged directly into the PCs USB port. Flashing should only take a few minutes if you have a good USB connection.

Its your battery. Its not charging correctly. U may need a new one since u can't turn it on

Did you get it fixed ?? Phone power should be at least 60% when you start anything
To get in to xrecovery turn off phone wait 5 seconds then turn on phone and pressing the back button tell it comes up if it doesn't try again and if it still doesn't then you didn't do something right.
Also try SU update repair.
Try turning off phone plug in usb to phone then pc then turn on phone if you flashed right xrecovery should come up on phone then scroll down with volume button to advanced setting clear all then re-flash Firmware. if not re-root install xrecovery if that does not work start ALL over from start with my first post on the 24th. my guess is you are missing some steps.
@GravvyTrain
Yes I do have a Sim card in the phone, problem remains the same
@Dusza Spc
Yes I do have the x10.sin file in flashtool
@CMoney87
Not using a hub, directly into my laptop USBS. Also tried on various computers, same problem. It's the phone.
@Lion3494
I doubt it's my battery, I've used another and same problem.
@Patricks_book
Have not fixed the problem. I literally can't access anything on the phone, When you press the power button it vibrates and thats it. I've tried accessing Xrecovery and It doesn't do anything.
I've tried SU Update Repair and it gives me a network error (I've disabled firewalls, tried on another computer) and It doesn't allow me to go any furthur (wrote the exact error in a previous thread).
I haven't missed any steps, It just doesn't flash.
Awesome to make things even better, my phone won't go green when on USB.
Put the phone onto charge and all it gives me is blinking red light.
Goodnight sweet X10.

[Q] SE Boot looping (SEUS,FLASHTOOL,SEPCC - NOT WORKING)

Please someone advise
I have read about a million threads and am unable to find the answer
My SE x10 mini e10i is in a constant boot loop showing the SE logo
I have tried using SEUS and it worked first time around,but after having tried a different rom to flash again with same problem
This time around it wont repair saying that the version is up to date
Also same with PC companion
First time around Flashtool did not work when I had my phone in USB debugging mode and started to flash it put USB debugging mode off and rebooted the phone. The only ftf that worked was nAa-08 - 2.6.29.6 loader and kernel. The rest of them it gave me the error of USB debugging turned off.
Now it doesn't even want to pass the logo and there is not CWM or xrecovery on the phone. When i try to flash it,the phone resets out of Flash mode and says USB debugging if off please turn on
Please if someone can advise. I even tried updating USB drivers,changing admin rights ex.

bad luck 4 u......
i have this problem like this x10mini(my friend phone).....seus not work....flashtool say usb debugging if off...
but PC companion work for me...
SE X10mini with GINGER-DX
HAAHAHAH!!!
Can't believe it,after no sleep and lots of coffee
Got it working,plus flashed GingerDx which is one awesome amazing rom
The whole problem was with Windows 7
After extensive googling, I came across information that Windows 7 compatibility has issues with USB Debugging drivers
Had to set restrictions within Windows and then force install specified drivers
I used Flashtool with admin rights and first tried to flash a whole .ftf but did not succeed
The only .ftf that flashed was the E10_nAa-08_2.6.29.6-nAa-08.ftf
but that only includes a kernel and loader (but which helped me to be able to enter recovery
This is where i copied the Gingerdx.zip file on my SD card and tried to install
Did not work thou,baseband issue like before
So I took a chance,went back to Flashtool and tried to flash another .ftf file
2 of them failed due to the USB debugging issue. I un-installed the USB driver from computer manager,set Flashtool to only install baseband files and then hooked my phone up in flashmode plugged it in and wola,the driver like before installed (correct one for flash and not mass storage)
Thus from here did the whole .ftf flash and then in recovery mode installed the GingerDx.zip which worked now due to the baseband being correct
Thank you coffee,screw you Windows 7 (PS : also being 64bit)
And thank you for one awesome O/S stelios97
Sir I have encountered problem like yours, but with SE WT19i Live,
Please Elaborate this one..
Flashtool to only install baseband files and then hooked my phone up in flashmode plugged it in and wola,the driver like before installed (correct one for flash and not mass storage)

Are you sure you flashed the right ftf for sk17i or sk17a, don't know which one you have?
Normally homekey must work if you have flashed the right ftf!
Yes, restart your pc, after that it should work. If you want to reflash it, you don't need to power on or anything, you just connect in flashmode and that should work! Turn phone off, pull battery, put in battery and hold volume down. While holding volume down connect to pc, don't power on device just connect while holding volume down. And do that AFTER flashtool has prepared the files, so select the right ftf again and click ok. When the picture on how to put it in flashmode appears, put it with volume down in flashmode, should work
Otherwise look in my signature, there's how to use flashtool in the rooting guide on step 2 rooting 4.0.2.A.0.62/69 there's how to prepare all and do it...
im sure i got the right tft, i did try to reflash it but it wont continue because it wont connect in my pc..im trying to restore some system apps that i uninstalled after root. btw thanks for helping mihahn. if things work out with this restoration, could you please give me some list of good custom roms and kernels for sk17i?thanks a lot for helping guys

You can't install custom kernels if your bootloader isn't unlocked. Only roms for locked bootloader. And without working home button you can't select anything in clockworkmod.
So better reflash the ftf. And you don't need msc or mtp mode, just connect with volume down when phone is turned off. Doesn't flashtool recognize it. Did you install the drivers from flashtool>drivers folder now?
Does windows detect anything when you connect in flashmode? Any sound?
Otherwise:
1.Download pc companion and connect phone, it will show the update. After that folllow the onscreen instructions.
2. If PCC doesn't show up the update, just go to the repair option and it will flash it again, too.
If nothing works, unroot and bring it to service center because of the homebutton
thanks...i got my phone fixed.i just restored the Setup Wizard via titanium back up... and i reflash it..thanks

Hi,
I have some confirmation questions:
Which ROM ftf do you have, which was the original baseband on the phone? Maybe check in STOCK ROM list for a better suited ROM.
I have better experiences when connecting the other way round: plug the cable into the phone and connect either at the computer or into a short usb-extender cable in convenient reach.
When doing it the other way round, I have often 'timing problems' to fiddle the usb micro into the socket at the phone.
Maybe try another cable and/or carefully press the plug to the phones frontside to prevent connection problems.

[Q] I flashed the wrong rom

I flashed the wrong rom on my Xperia Z2, I tried fixing it by flashing tft file, but I couldn't even get the device into flashmode (Power + Vol up), It just never vibrates, when I put it in the charger it just keeps blinking red.
What's the proper fix for this? and is this a soft-brick or hard-brick? Please help.

Flashmode is not Power button + Volume up. But...
Connect USB to ur computer
Then Hold the Volume Down key on your phone while u connect the USB Cable to the phone.
If you successfully get to flashmode, then u can flash an FTF file for ur phone. (This will also wipe internal sd files if you don't untick 'data' under wipes) Then again, phone might not boot properly if you don't wipe as u said something about custom ROM.
OR Follow these steps I found on Sony website
1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps

18/058/2014 23:58:26 - ERROR - You can find them in the drivers folder of Flashtool.
I'm sure that I have the drivers installed as I tried earlier today to unlock the bootloader through flashtool (which didn't really work out) and it recognized the device just fine.
right now it doesn't even show the Sony logo..I'll try PC Companion method in seconds..
EditC Companion is asking me to make sure that the battery level is above %80, when I was flashing the new rom, the battery level was around %50, should I care about this, or is it just an extra precaution? because I don't really see a way for me to know the battery level.

I'm sure 50% is enough to install through PC Companion unless ur battery is bad.
And do you by anymeans use windows 8? If you do, Did you disable driver signature while installing Flashmode, Fastboot and Z2 drivers from the C:\Flashtool\drivers folder, or where ever u installed flashtool to.
I believe I didn't disable driver signature, I connected the device to a different usb port too just to be sure, my OS is windows 8.1.
PC Companion is updating the phone right now, I'll see how it turns out and report back to you, thanks.
Edit:It worked, my phone is alive, thank you, stanley <3
