CM7 is on it's way, I can't remember who is doing it.
I'm sure more ROMs will appear soon enough.
Please remember that this phone isn't old, and phones like the DX1 are over a year old, so of course there's way more ROMs for it.
The bootloader is still locked and the phone is not on the top of anyones list apart from the people who have built roms.
Give it time. The big dogs will be here. We have a good start on things!

It's funny because the hardware is badass in the Droid X2. Compared to the Incredible 2, Charge, Thunderbolt, it crushes them all. Sure it doesn't have 4G and an AMOLED screen, but honestly with a dual-core CPU and a Tegra GPU you are just holding tons of potential in your hand.
You don't see many ROM's being released because they would all be iterations of Motoblur, which IMO sucks. All the ROM's out right now are practically the same thing, and the ONLY thing that would differentiate them would be either A) a different theme, or B) a few custom mods like additional lock screen choices. Unfortunately, that is all you would see and from a dev standpoint you just don't see the point.
Well I hope this phone lives up to the potential that it has with hardware. I agree fully this thing flies and is a huge leap forward in android type devices. I'm sure in time we will have some top notch stuff coming our way I may even start deving again myself or at very least theming

It does, and unfortunately at this time I think patience is key. I'd encourage you to do some development It can be fun, rewarding, and a great learning experience if you are still into that kind of thing.

Dual core doesn't actually mean double the fun. My benchmarking scores aren't that much better than my tbolt were, and I wasn't overclocked. The phone barely feels snappier.

Don't know what your taking about just ran quadrant and 2503 not rooted or over clocked pretty damn good in my opinion. And yes I'm still in to deving but I may be looking at a lot on my plate soon going to be potentially web mastering 5 different businesses so that will be fairly well time consuming but well see

That's because most apps, including quadrant, are not optimized for dual cores. Until more apps are made to take advantage of better hardware, it wont be that much of a difference

It's not about it being faster or snappier, it's about the fact that there are TWO CPU's crunching numbers instead of just one. Keep in mind that a lot of apps are not yet programmed for dual-core processing, since the technology is relatively new to the mobile market. When you see more applications programming for dual-core processing then you will see a difference. It was the same with regular PC's when dual-core processors came on the market, as well as with 32-bit started to transition to 64-bit.

Quadrant is trash for benchmarks. If you run smartbench or antutu the X2 demolishes the bolt and charge and any single cpu phone. I've gotten 4.9-5k on my X2 on Antutu, where as my friend on his OC Tbolt running cm7 @ 1.8ghz only gets like 3.8k. But atm for real world you won't notice too much of a difference since apps aren't optimized for dual core as stated earlier. But full flash websites on desktop mode are no problem for this phone to chew through. If you try that on the charge, good luck even scrolling through the browser. But as long as you enjoy the phone who cares right? In the world of Android your phone is quickly outdated since all the manufacters and their mothers love to push out phones at the speed of light.

im getting dx2 today for replacement

I believe battery life importance is by far the most important thing in a phone. Can't wait for the day when battery life on these and 4G (since their going to phase 3G out) is fantastic (more then 10 hours heavy use). Thats just wishful thinking because it'll never happen.
Question for those here, when 3G phones do get phased out and were stuck with 4G and its horrible battery life is everyone just going to go with the flow or anyone stick with the same phone they currently have.

If you want to hear yet another "negative thing" about the Thunderbold, I think it feels rather "clunky" in your hand. Sorta like a small brick.
I had a Thunderbolt and came to the x2. It's a great phone, development is awesome, ie it has cm7 and a slew of sense based roms. Battery life is easily manageable. I'd go back if i could.

Go for the Bolt, especially if you're into custom roms. We only have 2 roms...which aren't really custom roms, they're just tweaked stock roms. Nothing like CM7 or MIUI.
Once the Bionic comes out, a good handful of people will get it. I doubt a lot of devs will be looking at it (locked loader, sick of waiting for it). The Bionic, the Vigor, and the rumored soon released Nexus Prime are going to push us to the back of the room. I plan on trying to sell my x2 once the Prime or Vigor comes out, actually I regret getting it since the Prime and Vigor are coming out so soon
I have been looking for one for weeks and it has been a no-go. i've looked through XDA market, and CL. i dont understand why, ive heard so many people trading back to a atrix from a sensation asap when they tried it. when i ask if they'd trade its usually "no thanks, the sensation is worth more". i honestly dont care about price tag. that doesnt put out how much the device is worth, just what manufactures tag it. especially when atrix has more ram and features. and before i get flamed for even posting this. i want to trade because i care about display and camera over webtop. i take tons of pics and watch netflix alot on the go. i actually liked this display until i watched a couple movies.. i hate the outer glow on the screen and how grainy it can look/washed out. or maybe i should go after another phone?
Reason im posting it here is because i want to hear people who have the atrix or even both opinions. thanks
edit: haha to think i was about to trade.... http://www.htcphones.net/htc-announced-sensation-xe-with-beats-audio/ look at this ****!
I have an ATRIX and I love it ..I actually thought about trading it for a sensation but after watching a review it changed my mind. Its so much faster than the sensation and never lags,..I think it was bad with MOTOBLUR but with a custom rom or the official gingerbread update its simply amazing, only phone I would trade it for is the galaxy s2

ive heard about all the laggyness and glitchyness the sensation has "had". its mostly all gone now, they released a update and one of my friends that has the sensation says all the screen issues are gone and its way less laggy. so that made my interested in it again. ive always been on HTCs boat, this is my first Moto device. i wouldnt mind getting one again though.
edit: dont get me wrong, i LOVE my atrix, best device i have had. i just like to switch things up.. i dont really care for the "big features" of this devices. they sounded cool at first. but not for me

Do you like it though?? about benchmarks or anything of that matter. just everyday use and games/movies, also i love to skype and such. its sad atrix isnt supported. thanks. ive never been big on CM cause its all "stock" it just bores me id rather have eye candy and neat looking things and a camera/gallery with great settings then just.. stock. hopefully ICS has neat things
thats why i love sense. it all great in one package. i havent had my hands on sense 3.0 yet, last android HTC devices i had was the mytouch 4g.
I can't do HTC phones anymore until they improve the battery, and make the signal strength stronger...

I love my ATRIX, I get around 2200-2700 on benchmarks and in everyday use it never lags, opens applications easily, also the battery is a huge plus, I easily get through a day, I could get it through 2 but i'm used to charging my phone every night. I also think the tegrazone games are fantastic, even though im not a mobile gamer. If you're thinking about trading your phone for the sensation I would wait for any HTC devices coming out in the next few months that may running sense 3.5, or even beats audio, or maybe a Samsung galaxy s2 or nexus prime.

Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
lol i know what you guys mean xD i am always home so that isnt an issue, and with radio i have more benefits with the sensation cause im on tmo. the biggest thing i will miss is the nvidia GPU, im huge on nvidia. not so big on AMD adreno... AMD always is lacking something it seems. id be giving up tegrazone for NEON support, that is hard. id probably go for neon support because i play emulators more than anything.. like ps1 games, etc. just getting someone to trade is the problem :[ id love to have a spare atrix though, this phone has been my favorite so far modding. HTC phones have never been that fun for me with modding lol, idk why. alot of people think the guys in the atrix forums are mean, lol. people are worse in the HTC forums.
motorola atrix internal hardware with HTC sensation external would be a dream phone haha.. im never getting a samsuck phone again, after what they did to the people who spent $500 on the behold 2 to f*ck them, seriously. dont mean to sound like a **** but i was one of them who bought it lol. im all for motorola, htc, and id think about getting a xperia if they made a freaking dual core phone and not just overclocked a arc up to 1.4ghz -_-
my brother has a incredible and holy crap that things battery life is horrible!

I'll give you the screen, but my Atrix is in a case so build quality to me doesn't matter as much.
I really think "HTC Sense" is the biggest draw that brings people in. I enjoyed my time with it too.
But whether I had HTC for Android or even Winmo, I never kept a call in any of my questionable dead zones.
If they fixed that and the battery (larger physical battery and in the software) I could see myself going back to HTC again down the road...

They aren't the same phone and they don't have the same specs.
The obvious
Motoblur(Poton) vs Motorola UI(Bionic)
The motorola redesigned it's user interface in order to make it faster, more user friendly and utilizeless resources. The Motorola UI is also present in the Droid 3 phones.
The not so Obvious
Tegra 2 (Photon) vs TI OMAP4 (Bionic)
Tegra 2 is unique because it has what is called an Ultra Low Power (ULP) GPU. It essentially has to GPUs where if it doesn't need to push itself, the ULP would kick it as a result saving a lot of battery power.
The TI OMAP4 doesn't have a feature like that it has something different. It has a dual channel and it is dual threaded. It is the only dual threaded processor on the market. It is in a way the only true dual core processor on the market.
The quadrant test out there are only designed to test a single core and a single thread, so therefore not accurate.
I'm not impressed about the SGS2 quadrant score because it is a single Thread processor.
Most people aren't aware of the differences, but now your informed.

Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
What is the OP talking about? Droid Bionic is almost the same as the Photon but the Photon wins based on a very extensive and detailed dog fight:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlH5l-z4dYk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txRW-7cGe9Q
It loses in the WiMax vs LTE and 720 vs 1080... but that doesn't mean the phone is ****... The quadrant score is substantial... The phone itself is king.
No... I'm positive I have it right. The mooblur is the old. motor UI is the New. The Droid 3 was the first phone to receive it.

Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
I got rid of most of the sprint crap, and used Shabby's little trick to use both cores, and overclocked it, and the phone is pretty snappy for me. I haven't messed with the Bionic, so I can't really give an opinion on that, but those are the things i've done to make mine improved. And I enjoy it. :]
According to Motorola the Photon does not have Motoblur.
The EVO was crap?? A matter of opinion for sure and you would be in the minority.

It doesn't mean anything to overall performance.
But if 1 core, 1 channel, 1 thread on the photon is faster than 1 core, 1 channel, 1 thread on another dualcore chip at the same frequency.. then it means a lot

But it looks like the rest of the world has overlooked the Photon as well...
http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/20/hulu-plus-for-android-gets-more-plusses-adds-compatibility-to-n/
Hulu Plus already adds Droid Bionic and Evo 3D... but photon can sit and spin.
Ok this is BS.
Why are app writer hitting the atrix and bionic but blowing of the photon?
the fact just had to installed a bionic app to get video chat on the photon pisses me to no end

I'm getting rid of my Droid 3 already and am trying to decide between the (coming soon) Droid 4 or the Galaxy Nexus. The Droid 4 is basically the same as the Razr but with a keyboard, which I love, but I'm wondering if the keyboard is a big enough trade-off for the Dev support...which the Galaxy Nexus is ALREADY getting TONS of.
Any indication of CM7 or CM9 being worked on by Devs for the Razr? If it works for the Razr, there's no doubt it'll work for the Droid 4...similar to how all Bionic themes/ROMs can be easily ported over to the Droid 3.
Thanks in advance.
Well the razr still has locked bootloader and all that ****e, so until ICS the razr won't see that much love, but we have root and a couple of good devs already here. Also the Galaxy Nexus ain't that much really, had it for 4 days and back with the razr

Yea? Could you give me some insight on the display differences? I know the qHD pentile is always crucified when compared to the SuperAMOLED, but I'm curious as to how much of a difference the AMOLED has. I've looked up countless picture comparisons online, but they truly don't do either of the displays any justice. Since you owned it for a bit, could you elaborate on it for me?
Also, what other factors made you go with the Razr? You're just the person I was looking for =)
Thanks in advance.

That would be an interesting read (thread) from your point of why you came back. You were having screen issues and everything, curious...

I can tell you know that my first 2 razrs suffered big time with the black blotches, I got that pissed off I got the Nexus, after fiddling with it for 4 days it just didn't feel right, plastic and just felt crap, screen was amazing and ICS was very responsive, but I got the razr from day 1 and wanted to give it another go so I ordered another, this one is perfect in the screen and Motorola have done a good job on this phone, I think it feels good, looks the biz and the display is cracking, in other words I wanted to believe in this phone and it's delivered, at last

I've been battling back and forth on this...what to do when the GN comes out. I really like the Razr but there's one major deal that really bugs me...two, actually. The locked bootloader and it has a issue in the Android sys called 'suspend' that is killing the battery life. It could be so much better if it didn't have that issue but batt life is a huge deal especially with these smart phones that get so much use. I love the screen, love the build quality, how thin the phone is. Bought a killer cover for the phone from Verizon that has perfect grip to it, perfect size and a kickstand on the back that folds up when not in use. Really love the size of it! It's a kickin' phone but will it get Developer love like the GN will? Decisions decisions....
The Bootloader being locked is temporary. The suspend battery issue may not be an issue or it may be fixed if it is. If you like the RAZR and especially like it more than the GN then software shouldn't really be a buy factor as it will drastically change in the near future.

For (most of?) you lucky non-US users, that is. Those of us on Verizon are hanging in limbo. We don't know for sure.

As for now, the bootloader is locked, so, you won't see anything like custom kernels and great improvements. Other devs will surely come when the bl will be unlocked in January.
At the moment, I can assure the EternityProject Team is on the RAZR.

I have the same problem(screen) but I can live with it, I guess. Sometimes it disturb, but there is no challenger for it. HTC makes too identical phones and Sense sucks. Galaxy Nexus is too plastic and soft design makes me sick. But anyways this AMOLED is awesome! I can forgive these black "ink-marks".
They will came visible when colors are near this this and this

Oh cool, there's finally a rom for the RAZR?
I know that the GN had like a 1/2 dozen already where the RAZR had none.... off to the dev section to see this newness that you speak of!
http://htcsource.com/2013/01/new-pictures-of-the-htc-m7-and-sense-5-reveal-new-details/#That's right folks, it's been but a few months since the release of the DNA and we are already seeing HTC propose a new flagship device that will supposedly launch in 2013!
Everything below here is subject to change
The Specs (what we think we know)
-4.7 ' 1080p "Solux" Display
-32GB internal memory
-13mp camera
-2mp front facing camera (capable of 1080)
-2,300 mAh battery (no word on removability)
-aluminum uni-body chassis
-2GB of RAM
-468ppi
-1.7Ghz quad core Adreno processor
-4G LTE support (don't think I had to mention this one)
-Jellybean OS
-Possibly Sense 5
-Possible 4-carrier support
-Beats audio integration
Expandable memory options are not yet known but are most likely non existent
What I think right now is we will see this show cased at Mobile World Congress.
I will update this thread as news comes out about this beast and openly encourage whomever may read this to correct any errors I have made
Feel free to discuss any aspects about the phone in this thread, any speculation regarding anything about HTC and the M7's release, marketing, pricing, and "downfalls" is absolutely welcome so long as disrespect for other users is completely non-existent.
Update 1/21/2013:
Sorry for not updating way sooner however I have been busy!
Some new pictures surfaced recently of the M7, purportedly running Sense 5, which as some of you know has not been released yet. Pictures are here!
Furthermore, there have been some more rumors which indicate a possible announcement of this handset at MWC!

Oooo, seems like it would be a nice device. However I have no idea why you would need a 1080p display on a 4.7" device, but if it doesnt absolutly drain the battery why not?

Absolutely agreed friend, however from what I have heard the DNA's battery already holds up well with a 5' display to power. Should be interesting to see some of the opinions regarding battery for this

Its hard to believe they just came out with the DNA and were already talking about a new device that is slightly better on paper spec wise. I think it might make a few people mad since they just bought the DNA and now there is already something new.
Sounds like a neat phone

I had believed from the start that they were going to release something a bit better shortly after that would have larger memory, just a marketing ploy I suppose

Technologically, it is a beast but it is hamstrung by a lack of storage and a questionable battery. Whether HTC or Verizon is to blame we'll never know. Either way, it missed the mark. I have to believe its not just the hard core crowd that noticed. Their announcement on Facebook was absolutely blasted by comments pointing out these omissions.

Was Verizon. HTC wouldn't release the butterfly with the storage and omit it in the US. Verizon wishing everyone was streaming it more likely the culprit. Tis true, lots of people were upset. The DNA isn't a bad device, just limited.

I agree with what you are saying for the most part. I agree it got blasted for its "small" battery before it was even used by anyone, which put a sour taste in a lot of mouths. After owning mine since the week after launch, I have nothing but amazing things to say about the numerically "small" battery. I was skeptical at first, but it turned out far from questionable for me, and the added rigidity of the non-removable back is great. I hate squeaks and creeks.
The storage gripe I completely understand. Personally it has had no effect on me, but I can sympathize for those who need/want more, especially in a day and age where file sizes are massive and people spend multiple hours on their phones.

Apparently the chipset is substantially different; dedicated chip for camera and special LTE chipset which has lower power requirements (as on the DNA). I'm very nervous about a non-removable battery, but I've always been OCD about that with multiple chargers and always carrying a spare battery in my briefcase. I'd also really like to see removable storage (since I have a 64g card in my Rezound).
Most importantly, however, will be the ability to unlock the bootloader and an easy way to S-OFF. My upgrade period starts around May of 2013 and hopefully by then there will be alternatives to stock for the device. I bought my Rezound the second day it was available and the first few months of no-root were painful, even though the devs came up with a temp root within a couple of weeks. If HTC and Verizon Wireless lock things down, I'm going to look elsewhere.
The non-removable storage is a total troll move by Verizon. They push you to a tiered data plan, then minimize your storage capabilities and tell you to use cloud storage forcing you to buy more data. Up yours, Verizon.

I could live with the "small" battery as I'm never far from a charger for long. The storage was the deal breaker for me. I work a lot of 12 hour shifts, no WiFi at work, and like to have plenty of music on hand. Also, having kids, it'd tick me off if in the middle of shooting a video I'd run outta space and lose recording a memory.

If its multi carrier it might be worth looking at. I want the note 2 so bad but I don't want that low ppi. I'm hoping the note 3 will be 1080p. However, after this one, im never buying a carrier specific phone again. And I'd almost prefer not to buy HTC phones since other manufacturers are doing better with long tern updates now. But I do love the premium feel. Just depends. But those specs are sick.
So much for HTC sticking to their game plan of spamming less phones in the market. Company is going to be RIP at this rate.

Well I think this is a great opportunity for them. When has "spamming" the market really gone horribly for a manufacturer? I don't hear Samsung complaining about their Galaxy line up...or Moto complaining about their Droid Razr line up. I think HTC has been too conservative with releasing devices and I think it's time they change up their game. Anything for them right now would most likely be a saving grace
