Case with USB Keyboard for Toshiba Thrive - Thrive Accessories

New posting on Amazon for Thrive Leather case with built-in USB keyboard from GSAstore:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005JDUMCO

just got this case...its pretty cool although it would have been much better to have a touchpad on the keyboard itself...I guess I need a usb splitter

rotates Multi-Angle?

No, it won't allow you to rotate the Thrive. The clip that holds the tablet in the case prevents the use of the headphone jack. I plan to drill a hole through the clip so I can easily use the jack at the library.

Is it a Bluetooth keyboard?

Car kit/mount.

Has anyone found or/and is using a decent car mount?
I'm looking for one that is powered (with micro USB) with maybe a fm transmitter and bluetooth.
Thanks.
Halfords phone holder
Incar charger from T-Mobile
if anyone is using a charger for their car, i'm wondering how fast it is to charge a battery with it?
is it like when charging through your PC (slow) or just like it's standard charging?
Check brodit.com, they have/will have soon, a good holder/charger for the phone
/MKL
I make use of a Parrot MKi9100 Solution via BT.
Charging happens by a cut + angled Micro-USB Cable that is soldered to the +12V ignition Bus (with some resistors, a fuse and so on), which comes out of the front window air ventilation from my dashboard.
The Phone itself is also used as GPS Navigation System and rests in a holder, like you know it from 3rd Party PNAs (I don't know the English Word for such a holder atm.. sorry.)
I've just purchased the Brodit Fixed install Active Cradle and the car specific ProClip mounting bracket from http://www.dsldevelopments.com/
for $96 AUD inc P&H
I figured this would be a good future proof solution as if I upgrade my phone then I just need to get the right cradle and it will fit straight to the ProClip.
When it arrives I'll take photos of the install.
Yeah, I'm looking for a good landscape car mount for my X10 (has to be adjustable as I have a thin rubber case on the phone), as well as car charger and hands-free speakersphone for Christmas.

also Canadian Tire has a charger from duracell that looks like it will fit the bill for many different phones multi ends and all.
I couldnt find any proper hands free car kits for the Xperia. I'm happy to use a Blueant X9i got 3x $100 off ebay.co.hk!
I got one of these:
http://universalfuze.com/parrot_minikit.html
I think it is great!!!
I only use brodit, for the last 5 phones...
Got my Brodit kit yesterday, installed it in 10 minutes.
Forgot to take photos but can easily do it again.
The mounting face clips onto my dash near the stereo quite securely then the swivel mount just screws to that. I drilled some small pilot holes in the mounting face to make it easier and neater to screw the swivel mount into place, then just attach the phone mount to that. Plug into cigarette lighter, done.
In the not to distant future I'm going to install a secondary cigarette light socket hidden behind the dash. Its pretty easy to just hook into the existing cigarette lighter wiring, this will give the car kit the look of a permanently installed device, but actually make it pretty easy to remove. And free up the cigarette lighter for other chargers (iphone, usb adaptor for Blueant charger, etc)
So, I ended up picking up a iGrip Traveler Kit at The Source for $30. The suction cup holds pretty well on my Magellan GPS mounting plate (though has fallen off once or twice after the car gets well warmed up from the winter cold... I rigged a string to my windshield vent to prevent it from falling), and the actual holder grips the X10 superbly, even in the rubber shell case I have. You can very easily pivot it and rotate it from portrait to landscape.
For the charger, I'm using the one that came with my Jabra Cruiser.

I was using this cup holder mount that has a short gooseneck (Bracketron Universal Cup-iT with Grip-iT), and that was working fine for me. However, the position of the phone wasn't the best since I had to look down and toward my side to view it.
I just got this mount that goes into the CD slot of my car stereo, and this one is pretty nice. It's the Mountek MT5000. The mount blades slide right into the front of the CD slot, and then you just twist this little nut in the back a bit to tighten the blade grip. My X10 fits nice and snug, and now it's in a better viewing position.
If I need power, I just use one of those inexpensive USB chargers from eBay. A ten-minute job of opening one of those up, soldering together the data pins, and it works good for the phone.

Sorry but all these ideas sound pretty crap. I totally agree with vmiguel and will only buy Brodit from now on.
i have been using the ebay x10 windshield mount. for $12 it's doing a pretty good job compared to the other ebay mounts for my other phones. i'm not a fan of universal window mount kits..
not a big fan of universal kits either.
i attached (sorry, couldn't find one without a watermark, but i won't link to their ebay auction) a picture of a kit that's sold on ebay, does anyone have experience with this one? the one pictures is meant to attach to an air vent but there's also one with a suction cup. it looks like it has a good fit with the x10.
I'm going to need something like your kits.
Need more options, please!

I've been through a bunch of car mounting solutions already. They include:
Cup mount: www.bracketron.com/products/universal-cup-it-with-grip-it
Cigarette power mount: www.bracketron.com/products/universal-usb-power-dock
Air vent: www.bracketron.com/products/mobile-grip-it-universal-holder
CD slot: www.mountek.com
My favorite is the Mountek CD slot mount. Its quite inventive.
The air vent one from Bracketron is good too. Its spring clips hold everything nice and firmly.
The cup mount was good too, but it doesn't offer a good viewing angle and reach for the phone.

I use this one, and love it. The drawback is you have to remove any case before putting it in the mount. I got the hang of one handed removal, but it was a bit difficult at first. Easy to rotate to landscape. Camera hole in back for using any apps that layer gps info over real time camera view. Vent mount won't work with circular/spherical type vents in some cars. You'll know what I mean if you have one of those cars.

[Galaxy Tab 2 7.0] TPU cover - screen protector - USB otg adapter

Hi people
I wanna show my new items purchased on ebay, all cheap items, sorry for the quality, my LG O1 it's bad with cloudy day
First, the screen protector:
They aren't made for our tablet, because they are for the previus version (galaxy tab 7.0), so we need to cut a piece of layer before apply in the display because if we don't remove we can't hear from the speaker and we have problem with luminosity/proximity sensors.
In the pack there are 3 screen protector, they aren't the best because sometimes there's a scratch in the layer before you put it in the screen but it's okay for the price.
Here you can see the cut for the speaker grill, the hole for the camera is already made:
Second, the TPU cover:
It's just a silicon/plastic cover for protect our tablet from scratches in the rear case and some little knock in the angle, it prevents a lot of micro-scratches (I always put my tablet above a cloth if it is without his new tpu cover)
Third, the USB otg adapter:
This isn't the original but it has VHBW standard quality so it's perfect, I use it sometimes with flash drive, or my mouse or my keyboard for serious business LOL
Here you can buy this article:
Screen protector
TPU Cover (if you search you can find 2 other colors than black in the same seller: clear (it's semitrasparent) and pink for ladies
USB OTG adapter
Sorry dude for my english, have a nice day

I know this cover but I don't buy it because it has tpu over the volume/power button, it hasn't a hole for the microsd and the sim and it has the irda hole.
And I don't like the X style
But it was my first dream
For the USB: you can connect what you want in the female USB that came out from the adapter.
Yesterday I tried with an USB hub but tablet stop current out if you plug more than one USB (I tried with flash drive and wireless receiver for mouse) so you need to plug an USB hub with his wall socket for more current.
I suggest you a wall socket with at least 2 Ampere.
Sorry for my english
With this method you can connect more than 6 USB device (I tried with wireless receiver for mouse, 3 flash drives and a keyboard that required 2 USB port)
Is your TPU cover provide sufficient space for headphone plug?
I bought TPU in another place and need to make bigger hole, so headphone plug stays in place

Thinkpad Tablet Dock 2

I have just bought a Thinkpad Tablet (the original andriod version)
Was looking for a thinkpad tablet dock here in Australia as I remember that they were selling for $40 at one point. However couldn't find it online anymore.
On the online chat with a lenovo rep, he tells that dock 2 will work with the the original thinkpad and more interestingly.... HDMI will work from the dock as well.
Can anyone confirm this? HDMI was a major missing thing from the original dock
I think it will work. The port for the tablets is the same and I found out the original android dock was supposed to have HDMI out but they removed it before release.
You can see it in the picture I just took.
Just found this picture from the Lenovo site.
Is the original dock compatible with the Thinkpad Tablet 2?
I don't need all the ports. I just want to charge faster. The original dock is much cheaper.
Neither dock is immediately cross-compatible.
I had a TPT1 and still have its dock. My TPT1 was upgraded by Lenovo to a TPT2 after numerous warranty issues. They also gave me a free dock since I had purchased the TPT1.
To this question, I'll caution owners from buying the "other" dock for their device. Neither is 'out-of-the-box' compatible with the other tablet's physical dimensions.
The TPT1 dock is intended to be used in portrait mode, and the trough in which the tablet is seated on the docking connector is "boxed" on all four sides. Since the TPT2's connector is on the bottom landscape-wise, it cannot reach the TPT1 docks' connector as-is. You'll have to cut pieces of the plastic and metal dock off at the ends of the "box" to allow the TPT2 drop onto the connector.
Here's a pic of the TPT1 dock's "boxed" trough:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/wwzqrgi9tjhrro8/2013-02-17 11.58.04.jpg
I also estimate that the TPT2 dock will not work with the TPT1-- if someone is doing so successfully, I will be happy to be proven wrong!
The reason I think it won't work is the comparative width of the TPT1 vs. TPT2. The TPT2 is significantly slimmer than the TPT1. While the TPT2 dock is not "boxed" on the ends like the TPT1 dock, the trough looks to be too narrow to allow the TPT1 to slide in to it. The TPT2 slides in snugly, and it is much thinner than the TPT1.
This pic is not as clear as I'd like, but it is attempting to show that the trough of the TPT2 dock (held upright in my left hand) including the plastic lip in the front is still narrower than the TPT1 trough.

Hope this is helpful.

Is there a source for the TPT1 docks? seems scarce on ebay and internet
Wow... they have become a little scarce.
Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-0A3395...65591584&sr=8-1&keywords=thinkpad+tablet+dock
Also the connector on the TPT2 Dock is a little bit different than on tpt1

Keyboard?

Hi
I'm looking into getting a keyboard for my Note 12.2. I currently have the Samsung book cover and it does what it says and works fine. However I can't decide between a keyboard case or a separate keyboard. My requirements are possibly too much to ask from one device though as most nights I watch stuff on it in bed (not that sort of stuff ) and need to be able to hold it comfortably with the cover behind the tablet.
The one thing I don't like about the book cover is the way it stands up. It's very unstable and to be honest, not suitable to use with a separate keyboard. So if I went with a separate one, I'd need to get a cover/case that supported the tablet much better in landscape orientation standing up.
The keyboard case I was looking at was the Logitech Pro Case. Seems nice but how does it feel when the keyboard is behind so you can hold the tablet? Does it add much weight also?
Any ideas or photos of your set up would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Andy
Too good to be true??

I got the Wedge keyboard, and I bet Amazon has plenty of those used. I wished I waited to get mine from Amazon instead of buying it at full price at Staples. Great build quality, never once failed when using it for either my mac or tablet, and has portability. But any bluetooth keyboard pretty much does the same thing, though it depends on what you want.
If you want portability, get the Wedge Keyboard.
But if you want a bigger keyboard, I bet there are plenty. I've never heard of a keyboard case like the surface covers, but those would be a cool thing.
I have the Logitech cover with keyboard. It is very well designed and pretty comfortable. Its only disadvantage is weight - it weights about the same as the tablet itself.
Wytaptalkowane na notatniku
I prefer a separate bluetooth keyboard. So I've got a Logitech K810. It's exactly the same width as the tablet, so they fit together nicely in a sleeve. Excellent build quality, battery lasts for months and the keys are very responsive (as expected from Logitech's high-end line. It is 100 quid, after all.)
I also prefer a separate keyboard, picked up a used Belkin fsl114 (10 inch wide) for almost nothing that is outstanding. Believe it was in an Ipad case. We use extensively on another tablet and lasts quite a long while. Not quite full sized, about 3/4 size.

I got RAPOO E6700 and with Xposed Additions I'm more than happy with it.
In mobile situations I use Microsoft Sculpt Keyboard, in the Office I use the full size Speedlink Athera Bluetooth Keyboard.
Thanks for all the advice, I'll be looking for a separate keyboard now I've got a decent folio case.
Is there any way to remove the magnets from the Logitech case? Or does anyone know of a keyboard case without magnets?
I really don't want anything to mess up the S-pen functionality and really don't like magnets in general when it comes to proximity to electronics.
The magnets in the Logitech case does not affect the S-pen functionality. Magnets do not affect electronics unless you use a really powerful magnet like the ones used in lifting cars in a junk yard.
However, normal magnets may affect floppy disks by erasing the magnetic part of the disk but who uses those anymore?
Most good speakers have a powerful electromagnet in them and you don't ever hear of those causing any issues with electronic stuff. In my office those speakers are within inches of my laptop and never any issues.

It's not about electronics. The Spen sensor itself is magnetic. Introducing another magnet into the magnetic field of the Spen disrupts the field.
Maybe, but the magnet in the Logitech keyboard does not affect my Spen in my Note Pro 12.2. Is it affecting yours?

Logitech has put a bit of protective material between the tablet and the case in their Note cases. The issue affected all Spen devices.
Cheaper cases, however, don't have that addition.
So annoying that the best keyboard case out there has these. It's a well known fact that magnets disrupt SPen. A clasp would have been fine. Which is why I bought the Speck Folio. And I'm probably going to buy a standalone K810 keyboard. Even if it's way less compact.
Really satisfied with my Logitech keyboard/case combo, the ability to switch layouts (I'm using canadian french) makes it perfect for the job. I'm also using a bluetooth mouse to get the most of it. Add a USB OTG dongle and you get pretty everything you need for a laptop replacement.
The only setback, like the others said, there's no magnet to shutdown the screen when closing the case.
I bought it on ebay for about 60$ which is well worth it.
I had a device with Wacom pen (it was an e-book reader) with cover that had a magnet in it - what it did is it destroyed the pen. The screen still works with another Wacom pen, but the pen that I had with the device is broken and draws only on parts of the screen. So now I avoid any covers with magnets.
I have had the Logitech since I bought the tablet 7 months ago and no problems at all.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Free mobile app
Been using my logi keyboard for 9 months myself, no magnetic dividing by zero so far...
...turns out logitech isn't some one off company that just throws **** together all willy nilly...

Car dock for dual screen

Has anyone found a suitable car dock for the dual screen? It seems like most of them don't open wide enough to accommodate both screens (6.5")
Wireless charging would be even better but since the pad would be near the side I don't know if anyone makes something like that
I use this one with a custom bracket to fit my dash.
You can adjust the bottom supports to suit the folded or unfolded size.
I use the LG dongle for charging.

I stuck a metal plate on the inside of the DS case and im using a magnetic holder. Works well, but you'll lose the wireless charging capabilities with case on. For me it was worth the compromise.
Magnetic holder on the air vents, get two if you want to put it more secure, I left the metal plates inside the case and not on the phone itself
anyone consider using microsuction tape? haven't tried this yet but it seems like it could work.
I would like to use a QI Car Charger.
Anyone has an idea which one to use for the Dual Screen Mode?
The left grab-arm must be way shorter.
Or does anyone know a QI Charger which grabs the Phone from Top and Bottom?
Ali got it
I ordered this one for the price of 4 $ and 42 cents. that is including shipping from China to Holland LMAO

Seriously! Don't do that!
