Hi guys,
I have been noticing that for the past few days, my battery has been acting quite strange...
For example, after about 2 hours of the phone running (started at 100% fully charged battery), and sending 1 text, spending about 10 minutes web browsing, and 10 minutes playing a simple game - the rest of the time in sleep - I have 87% battery left... is that normal? And why is the battery dropping so fast and suddenly?
I have the "Microbes" live wallpaper on, and WiFi was connected the whole time.
I have just calibrated it with the "Battery Calibration" app, and I specifically tried calibrating to get rid of this problem... I'm so confused...
Live wallpapers and wifi on all the time are battery eaters. Also ive noticed that after a calibration the first charge drains quicker than normal.Wait a few charges and dont turn on anything you dont need.
So, should it get better after
a few more charges?

my battery drops about 10% an hour in my pocket....
when i look at battery usage it say my screen caused 70+% of my draining.
How can my screen drain so much when its only been on less than 1 min....
downloaded different roms stock 2.1, stock 2.2, 2.2 superclean.
All drain extremely fast and my battery manager keeps on saying its my screen..
Its on automatic settings!!!!
do i need to calibrate my battery? thanks in advance.
edit*
could this be a wakelock?
When you reset batt stats, it just adjusts it so the percentage is "correct", it won't affect the drain
im almost positive its wakelock....do you know how i could fix that?
*edit*
looked up spare parts and it is not wakelock......i dont understand why my screen is eating so much battery while its not even on!
10% an hour just sleeping!!!!!!! 25-35% while surfing the web, this is lame.
Today I disabled the ambient light sensor and just went back to adjusting brightness manually. 13 hours after unplugging from the wall and I'm at 50 percent.
I also have auto rotation turned off.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
turned auto rotation off and rebooted my phone a total of 3 times after installing my rom.
now after 2.5hrs im at 95%!!! The screen does not drain my battery anymore when sleeping....but if im using my screen my battery still depletes extremely fast. like 5% every 30min. still it will last me more than enough for 18hrs with moderate usage. problem solved, but don't know how. rebooting did the trick...

I'd pay good money for battery life like that. Mine is running superclean 2.92 and it'll die with screen on within 3 hours every time.
What ROM are you running? Radio version? kernel?

running sc 2.9.2 non voodoo....and stock from what i can tell.
i dont know why but serouisly rebooting my phone a couple of times after installing got my display from draining my battery in sleep....i have no clue how, but it did.
just played angry bird for 30min, 5% drop.....with screen on auto... im at 81% at 4.5hours..... its to good right now! lol.
my phone was at 50% in sleep within 4 hours this morning!! amazing.
I'm getting horrible battery life too. Been searching for an answer. My display is using 90 percent of my
Battery in my pocket?

Check to see if your GPS is on, I'm using SC and voodoo kernel, was getting phenominal battery life until a couple days ago, phone wouldn't sleep. After banging my head against the wall for an hour or so it came to me that I had used google maps to see if it would lock my location and forgot to turn GPS off after. Shut GPS down and all is good now!
I have the stock 4.5.9 gingerbread update on my AT&T ATRIX. However I am observing a terrible battery life. There are too many solutions in the forum to follow. Can someone direct me to the appropriate one? I am rooted and unlocked. I used the unlocked 4.5.9 sbf for upgrading from from Froyo to gingerbread 2.3.4

there;s a lot of solutions because poor battery life can be cause by many things, you have to find out what is draining your battery. try calibrating first let it drain until your phone turns off and then if you have cwm install then wipe batterystats and then a full uninterrupted charge
Try setting profiles in SetCPU and freezing apps with TitaniumBackup. Theres a topic for each of these two solutions.
battery stats 6h 3m 29s on battery (now left with 10% of battery)
Display 49%
Phone Idle 22%
Cell standby 6%
Android system 5%
Launcherpro 3%
xda 3%
Android OS 3%
this is just terrible .. i never had such battery life with Froyo. i dont understand what might be the problem. Meanwhile i will try to calibrate my battery.

Calibrate your battery.
Then freeze your bloat.
Problem solved.
dont forget you might also being playing with your phone a lot more trying to see all the new stuff in the update. Thus causing more battery drain.

There are some strange things happening with the battery. I let my battery discharge completely to the point where phone shuts down. Then I plugged in to charger, waited for 2-3 minutes so that I can start the phone. Started the phone and saw 50% battery. Don't know what's going on.
I was told by an admin from another site that most of the battery programs do not work with ova ginbread. You go to settings/about/status and observe the battery. I do no I was also getting flaky results with 2 of the battery programs.

That's a GB bug... there's a battery fix in the development section to flash which deals with the reboot battery jumping. (turn off phone at 50%, turn on phone and it says 70%)
I am having problems with my Atrix too. With my usage, I used to be able to get almost 3 days of battery life. Now it hardly lasts a day. I have checked pretty much all settings (sync, sleep) and all seems fine as far as I'm concerned. So I am having hard time trying to find what is causing this. The only suspect I have right now is wifi. I don't think wifi is sleeping even though I've selected "When screen turns off" in the sleep policy.
Does anybody know why there's a boost in battery % when the phone reboots?
Is it a software bug or a battery problem?
Sent from my LT22i using xda premium
mine does that to with 1.54 software...
Even worst, last night I've left my phone charging and when I checked it this morning it had 1% lol wtf?... it stayed 12hours plugged in... rebooted it and it started charging again.
Going back to stock rom from the carrier... or .544 file.

Nonsence , i started using the stock kernel and i got AMAZING battery life , it surpasses double the sustainability ...
*note the spikes that go up is not me charging , sometimes when i look at the phone for example is 25 % and when i wake it up after an hour or so its like 30 % , idk why this happens but it happend like 3-4 times
Well... Don't know why then. ..
Maybe i have a defective phone or battery.
Anyway, i just flashed again the .544 firmware, updated through ota to .54 , and didn't root this time just to check things out.
Either i have a software issue or defective phone/phone charger.
I noticed someone telling that the phone should charge in about one hour and mine doesn't do that. The two times i charged it, it took a lot longer. In almost two hours it reached about 70%.. so there is/was something definitely wrong.

its about calibration, you use it, it drains more, so it shows % of battery remaining like using, turn sleep mode for a while, battery will calibrate and show you more % because phone doesnt drain much

I understand your point of view but that does not make any sense, since no other brand does that type of reading.
I'm sure it is a software glitch or malfunction that causes.
The remaining battery % is the battery you have left. I've never heard of a % if you use it and % if it's idle, and IMHO doesn't make sense.
If anyone could confirm this, would be great.
tks
I also experience a boost of 1-2% when I leave the phone idle for hours..But the flickering values during reboot-isnt that an inefficient usage of the battery by the OS? Can it b fixed? It sucks to reboot the phone often to increase my battery...But it only works around 2-3 times in a single charge session..after that it drops during reboot

casca-the phone charging fully in an hour is simply bogus...It takes an extra 1-2 hrs after hitting 100% to reach the "Battery Full" state..

Yeah mate, true. Mine takes about 50 minutes to reach 80% and another 60 minutes to reach 100%.
From what i have read on a couple of reviews the Xperia P has quick charge mode until the battery reaches about 80%
The Battery can b made more efficient..the extended standby mode is a life saver,..but what's the point of not using the phone?...wish the "extra charge" during reboot gets fixed when jb releases..What's the maximum backup for u all? I once got around 50 hrs,via frequent reboots...

Android 4.0.4 may have this problem
So, there's no fix right?
i have xperia p and sometimes when i put it on charger for example when its down to 3% it starts to charge but not raising percentage but when i reboot it shows real status.so its charged but somehow percentage bugged
where are you from and what file did you flash? generic world or central europe?
normal problem
I think it's a normal "problem",
while rebooting it's clearing the battery-cache.
and it's not only on your Xperia P, it's on iPhone too

Same here ics is so bugged..what does it take for Sony to give a clean version...JB might b even worse...
it was actually weirder than that guys... the phone was loosing battery % with the charger on!
for instance, if I pluged the phone at 40% at night, in the morning i would have 1% of battery... so, not only was the phone not showing the charge going up, it was actually showing it going down! lol
anyway, I think it has been solved and I the problem was I've flashed the generic world version instead of central europe one.
tks for the posts.
My screen is draining too much battery about 70%.. and my battery life is only 8-10hours(when screen is on.. but not all the time) just checking my notifications in moderate use.. my screen brightness is at 0% non automatic...no live wallpaper i think it's not normal because i've seen people saying s3 battery can be at least 2 days..when my screen is on i lose 1% every 3-5minutes, i already tried hard reset.. ....i do use android 4.1.2 uk official rom
Hope anybody can help me!
Sorry for my english btw!

when my screen is on i lose 1% every 3-5minutes,
Thats not what your facts say 12 % discharge in 139 mins
use Greenify from the market to help battery .
Check overnight sleep with all turned off .
All this is well posted why not search read the faqs and guides first .

My DNA battery has gone crazy. Last night the battery was at 66%, I restarted it and the battery went up to 76%. Today, the battery was at 33%, I rebooted it and the battery dropped to 17%. After that I rebooted it again to see if it would go back up and it dropped to 14%. So I did it one last time and that battery then went up to 24%. I dont get it and on top of that my battery life has been terrible recently.
To try to extend it I have installed Lux to manage the screen brightness, I have turned off backup and Google Location Service.
I got Nova Launcher yesterday to see if that helps, I'm using Greenify to close apps and CleanMaster to get rid of junk. I dont use Google Now or have any apps sync/receive notifications besides Messages and Phone. I can't get through the day and I don't use my phone from 7am to 12 in the afternoon.
I have 25 apps installed from Google Play and all the bloatware and useless apps disabled. I use Next Browser instead of Stock/Chrome
Any solutions or suggestions

Maybe just try to do full cycles with the batter to re-calibrate it, charge it up 100%+ and drain it 99%, rinse/repeat a few times.

Ive read that you arent supposed to drain the battery and this phone is unpredictable for when it will turn off from a low battery.
Sometimes it turns off at 8%, sometimes it might turn off at 2%

You're right about draining the battery however we cannot fully drain these batteries. The system shuts the phone down when it hits a certain level, however you can still power the device back on after it does this, thus the battery still has charge and not fully drained.
And yes they can be unpredictable.
Mine will shut down when it gets to about 5 percent but I was using it one time and it went from 8 to 2 in a second and powered itself down. I think they all act weird when they get really low but your issue sounds like the battery is on its last leg.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
According to your battery stats, what's draining the battery the most? Also download GSam battery stats to get a more detailed look at the apps and services that are consuming battery.
Maybe your battery is past its prime, but you want to be sure its not an app or service draining things before giving up.
My Droid 3 and 4 are still going strong as long as I charge them fully and then periodically drain them to 10%.
