[Q] Gobstopper Bell 2.2.2 - 2.3.4 OTA - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I have successfully installed Gobstopper Bell 2.2.2 and then proceed with updating thru OTA to 2.3.4. It all went well and my phone is working.
after a few minutes, i realized i do not have the CWM recovery anymore and my phone is no longer unlocked.
Can i still use the Ihop unlocker here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
and can someone please explain to me the 1.8.3 bricks coz i keep seeing this revision, that if you go higher than 1.8.3 and then revert back to a lower version, you will get a brick. ive been trying to understand this for days now but i can't find it anywhere. is this the android version? baseband? system version or kernel?

If ur att atrix user and after ota 2.3.4 u sbf back to old version ull brick ur phone.
If ur int user, and want to go back use gobstoper or fruitcake it will be like a chicken.

[Q] Root Problem- help!

Hi, I have a root problem. I rooted the original firmware (1.2.6) using SuperOneClick and am now on firmware 1.8.3. I'm not sure if I still have root, but I'm doing a warranty exchange with AT&T (faulty ear piece) and even though I updated to 1.8.3, the Superuser icon remains there. I definitely need it removed because rooting voids the warranty, and if the warranty is void with the device I send in, it will cost $500.
I've read some people suggest a SBF Flash, but will AT&T be able to tell the firmware isn't the actual stock firmware? Or, if I was to restore to 1.2.6 via SBF Flash, will I then be able to update the firmware through the Android OS to the official AT&T 1.8.3 version?
Another suggestion I saw was the option to Gladroot it then remove root, but since I'm already on 1.8.3, I'd have to SBF Flash back to 1.2.6 to root it, anyways.
So, really the question is, will the SBF Flash remove the Superuser icon? And will AT&T be able to tell if the phone has been SBF flashed?
Thanks so much, and if you've found another way to remove the Superuser icon, please let me know!
If you sbf flash it to 1.2.6 was like how you bought it. So superuser would be gone and it wont be rooted. Also At&t wont be able to tell.
Sent from my Motorola Olympus running gingerblur 3.5 on 1.8.3 using XDA App
I rooted the original firmware (1.2.6) using SuperOneClick

[Q] Gingerbread 2.3.4 on BELL Atrix phones

Now that ATT Gingerbread OTA is out, any way to have Gingerbread on BELL Atrix phones or we have to wait until bell release their own OTA ?
Currently my phone is rooted but not unlocked. I am looking at the forum thread but it's mostly for AT&T phones.
So any ideas ?

You can unlock your phone (pudding) and install any of the ROMs out there that use 2.3.4.
Just make sure you use one of the international kernels.
Other than that you are stuck waiting for the OTA

I am up and running and very happy with this ROM - if you are interested in trying this then here are the steps I went through to install. This isn't detailed but should be enough to get you going.
You must have a Bell phone and your bootloader must be unlocked. Assume you will lose all data and BACKUP!!
1) Restore Bell System
- If you are on a non-bell rom follow instructions on this post otherwise go to step 2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142808
*note - you will need your sdcard in for the rooting required for the restore
2) Perform Bell OTA update (don't need to do this since now NFHimself's script will load 2.2.2 on your phone)
- Settings -> About Phone -> Check for updates
3) Install 2.3.4 and root
- Download 2.3.4 zip from the first post and copy to your sdcard:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166362
- Download root cwm zip from this link and copy to your sdcard:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159572
- Install Bell_IHOP using RSDLite
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
- Install CWM Recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138541
- go into CWM Recovery and install 2.3.4 zip from sdcard
- install Root zip from sdcard
Done!

He posted another thread in the link below, but it uses NFHimself's gobstopper which I did not use since I need to flash the 2.1.1 FR first. Also, I don't think you need to flash those kernals at all...

I believe this is the OTA update FOR BELL that was leaked from motorola servers.
Be prepared though, this also guide assumes you are familiar with many tools such as RSD Lite and fastboot.
ITS HERE ITS HERE!!!
I just got my Gingerbread update notification for my Bell Atrix
Fortunately this one is an "optional update" so You won't have to cancel/postpone it every hour until you are ready to install it

[Q] Help with update to gingerbread!!!

Hi, there are probably numerous questions similar to mine, but I couldn't find the right thread for me.
I recently unlocked my atrix's bootloader, and tried to update to the gingerbread update. Ultimately, I wanted to flash the Alien rom, but the gingerbread update (not the OTA one), caused my phone to be stuck on the Moto logo, so I flashed the 1.2.6 sbf on my phone.
Now, I'm not sure what I should do to update my phone to gingerbread since I read that if I update directly from 1.2.6, I will hard break my phone. What should I do?
By the way, I have been having troubles with an update to 1.8.3 via sbf. It keeps saying that the phone did not enumerate.
Thanks for all the help!!

I'm surprised you aren't already hardbricked.. Use the OTA updates until 1.8.3 (RSD shouldn't be used at all really) and then re-root and unlock whatever using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871.
If it did not reenumerate, then all you should do is boot back into RSD and see whether that fixes it.

this gives stock 2.3.4 without touching bootloader

[Q] Big problem after OTA 4.5.141

I was trying to apply the OTA 4.5.141, on my rooted AT&T Motorola Atrix stock rom 2.3.4 and after the first reboot, following the instructions from the update, I am getting the message “failed to boot 2 starting rds mode” and just sit there. After removing the battery and booting up again, the phone seems to booting up normally and then when the phone finishes loading most of the widgets, I get a message saying “turning off” and the same cycle keeps repeating.
This is my primary phone and I am really desperate right now and I do not know what to do.
Please I need some help,
You could try to use RSDlite to flash the official 4.5.91 SBF, info in the 2.3.6 OTA thread and then apply the 141 OTA. There's still a chance that the update will fail though . Worst case you will have to use fruitcake 2.3.4/2.3.6. Info on that is also in the same thread. If you just want your phone to work with no hassle use fruitcake and don't apply the official OTA update.
Thank you for the information it was very helpful.
I am pretty new on android and my experience has been on windows mobile phones mainly (flashing, unlocking and installing roms) and I can see know that my problem it’s that I tried to update my phone without removing the root access.
Now I have RDS lite 5.6 and I am trying to find the official 2.3.6 stock rom and because this is my first time flashing an Android phone, I am very nervous to tell you the truth and I don’t want to brick my phone. It’s there any tips you have to not screw up the whole thing.
I am following a guide found on atrix forums to use RDS lite to flahs my phone. [HOW TO] Use RSD Lite to Flash a SBF File - Motorola Atrix.
Thank you again,
I got it working again following the suggestions from Atrixforums.com. What I did was to flash my phone with RDS lite v5.6 using the file 1FF-olympus-user-2.3.4-4.5.91-110625-release-keys-signed-ATT-US-GAS_NA_OLPSGBATTSPE_P011 and that fixed my phone and it’s been working normally.
Notes:
My phone was using the stock rom version 2.3.4
Rooted (I did not remove the root access before applying OTA 4.5.141 and this is reason why I got in this problem)
Locked bootloader (I am not sure if this method will work with an unlocked bootloader)
Unlocked sim card
Thank you,

unlock or firmware

please guys I need help, I would like to downgrade my atrix but I can not find it anywhere firmware 4.5.91
that allows me to do the unlock and install clockworrk.Or a way to make the second version unlok
there is nothing
Official 2.3.4 can be obtained via sbf file, but be careful, you may brick your device. I've never tried flashing the 2.3.4 sbf, but I have with the 2.3.6 sbf. Unofficial 2.3.4 can be obtained via fruitcake. then flash pudding sbf to get unlocked.

I'm not sure if it would work, but what about flashing the fruitcake 2.3.4 (i think thats the verion that matches up to 4.5.91, don't remember, its been a while), and then flashing the corresponding sbf file from the link above? I know that it just worked this evening for me when downgrading from 4.0.4 to stock 2.3.6.
I had a CWM backup of 2.3.6 saved. I restored to 2.3.6 via CWM, made sure everything was still good (obviously it was). That solved the downgrade. From there, I used RSD 5.7 to flash the 2.3.6 sbf, which "locked" the bootloader. Started it back up and here I am, downgraded from 4.0.4 to stock 2.3.6. I haven't gotten into recovery yet, but I suspect its the stock recovery. The only way to get CWM back is to flash the pudding sbf, and then flash a CWM recovery.img
Edit: Recovery does revert back to stock recovery.
