[Q] Can't unlock bootloader - Motorola Photon 4G

Okay, so here's where I'm at. I tried to load the pudding stock SBF and the just bootloader SBF from the pudding thread. And each time I tried to flash either of said files, I got a file error, same as what was posted in the thread. So I've tried to follow that thread on a fix, I can't understand any of what was said. Each time I've tried it my phone has been at 95-100% charged. So I'm not sure what if anything can be done. I have it rooted, and I managed to get the Laser P-Rom or what not onto my phone. But that's about it. The only reason I'm unlocking is for the Alein ROM. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sbf failed on me 3 times.. But I was still unable to unlock. Try going ahead and doing the fastboot command.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium

Okay. I can get back to flashing the SBF. But I'm lost at the fastboot command. I tried following the directions on the site I was using, and it didn't come up with anything? Is there is clear set of directions with where to extract the files to? And I'm using command prompt same as I did to root my phone correct?

Are you familiar with adb?
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App

If that is running things through command prompt, yes, I know how to do it but by name, sadly. No. I'm not.

also have fail issue
Im also having this issue it fails on the final part at 99% and im not familiar with adb. If any help it would be greatly helpful.

Mine does the same. And okay. I'll try to save it and extract the files. See if I can get it to work one more time.

So is there a way to check if I have unlocked my boot loader? I think I have, but I'm not totally for sure.

Sorry for 8 million posts. But I've done it! I just had to read through a couple different things. And actually read what was on the screen and now I've managed to unlock my bootloader. And got it to work. Thanks for the help guys.

what did you have to do for yours?

I followed that guide. As it was the easiest for me to understand. I failed when trying to flash the pudding file in RSD. So I didn't worry about it, and continued onto the fast boot, and it worked like a charm for me.

My RSD lite loads me up too 99% and I ignore it and continue, I run the adb commands and get to the prompt with my Unique ID but I'm lost on how maby digits or what format to exactly type back to unlock my device...I see some forums have 11digits and others with 7-10. I have tried type the exact ID word for word and some with only 11digits but always get the error this ID is not correct prompt, Help would be greatly apprecited!
I will post my ID later since its unique to each device it won't matter or a identity level, I just need someone to specifically tell me what to enter when I post my Unique ID
THANKS TO ALL MY PHOTON USERS!!!

Could someone please make a working pudding remover

The nopudding4u download that someone posted doesn't work and gives Fail to boot 2 errors to everyone who tries it out.
Could one of you please make a pudding remover that works? I would like to relock my bootloader, so that way my 4G will work. I don't want to reflash an entire sbf as I want to keep my data.
I just relocked my bootloader with the pudding remover... it says that it's failed... but it works.. make sure you flashed the stock recovery before you relock... but I kinda did it backwards... but it works...
I would get Fail to boot 2.
I had to reflash pudding to get my phone to boot.
I really want to remove pudding and the steps provided don't do much.

I'm wondering as to what exactly is the problem with nopudding4u that makes it fail to work properly.
I believe that Failed to boot 2 error means that your battery is below 50% charge. The RSD softeware on the phone won't let to flash if you're under 50% battery.
I got that error and then put my Photon on the AC charger. Tryed again 20 minutes later and the boot worked.
what does Failed to boot 4 mean?
Work it does not, rsd you must do.

Make sure you guys have the right nopudding.sbf I had the failed to boot 2 a while ago when I flashed an electrify.sbf by mistake and It nearly terminally bricked my phone. I have locked and unlocked multiple times using the correct nopudding I believe there is also a stock sbf that will relock, but I'm not sure where to find it, I would assume try googling it.

Working right now and I have to do some research to remember how I did it (been a while) , but most definitely. I'll get back to you on it tonight. where I'm at it's almost 1 so it'll be about 9 When I can pm u
I unlocked a while back to check out ICS. I then flashed back to stock using the 198_7 sbf and did a factory wipe. My phone no longer said unlocked during boot and everything was good. However, a couple days back I decided that I wanted to unlock again to try some new cool things. During the unlock process, I flashed the pudding sbf and when it reboot it said unlocked. I didnt have to go through the cmd steps and enter my unique ID. So that has me wondering if I was ever really relocked. I definitely had the stock recovery. So, even if my phone does not say unlocked during boot, should I flash the nopudding4u sbf? I ask because I will be traveling to a wimax area soon and want to make sure that I can use it.
Thanks guys.

u only have to put in the unique I'd once. Its like unlocking the door that allows u to open and close it. I believe with 198_7 u don't need to use no pudding, but I have been on cm9 a long time and my memories a little foggy. U can however flash it just to be safe.

Trying to unlock SBF 198-7

First let me apologize if this has been answered. I have tried to look in the forums for an answer and can't find it.
What I am trying to do:
Unlock SBF 198-7
Install jokers ROM
I am stuck trying to unlock SBF 198-7. I know it is possible b/c the rom requires it. If someone can please explain how to do that would be great. If there is a thread about this already that I have missed please share the link and I will request this thread be locked so that it doesn't waste anyone elses time.
I am familiar with RSD and Fastboot and have tried the steps if you have the stock 154 SBF.
Thanks again

If you've already unlocked your bootloader before.. Just use the unlock bootloader by itself.. You should be good from there ...
The unlock itself can be used through rsd .. ..no need to type anything

Once you've unlocked once u never have to use fastboot except to replace recovery. If u relock ur bootloader u never have to do the OEM unlock script again. Its forever there in a way.

Yep. Once you've unlocked, you don't have to do the fastboot. As everyone has mentioned. I can also confirm this. I've done it probably fifteen times.

[Recovery]HoneyComb Recovery For HTC View 4G

thanks for sharing. I did it on my view , really great
Does this specifically unlock the updated HTC View on Honeycomb?
Thanks
I just did this process on my View. I had not previously rooted and took the Honeycomb OTA update, after I was done unlocking the bootloader it reset my whole system to stock(with HC) I wasn't expecting it to do that, but I guess I am now unlocked and ready to root.
Sort of, you have to remember that you won't able to flash radios at all or flash kernels from recovery this way. You'll have to flash kernels over fastboot or from a booted android system.
Also unless the OP can come back with complete details of this recovery I recommened not flashing it, but extracting the one in the mini-ruu in the S-OFF thread. I see a couple of options in there which either won't work or could be incredibly destructive and I don't know if this recovery will support off-mode charging. I don't want people to get stuck in "battery brick" status, that is not fun.
Anyone get this when trying to unlock?? It doesn't give me an error code so I don't know exactly what went wrong.
We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.

nearly every time I've seen someone get that it's because they pasted the wrong information into the webpage, either too much or too little text,it has to be exactly what the instructions say to copy and paste.

Stuck in Bootloader

So I've been searching around for the last hour and I have no idea what to do about this. I'm stuck in the bootloader after I did a superwipe from the 4EXT recovery. I can't get back into the recovery and everything I do just sends me back to the bootloader. I can do fastboot commands, but I can't do "fastboot flash recovery name.img" it keeps telling me "writing' recovery' ... FAILED (remote: not allowed). I'm currently SUPERCID, and S-OFF. Please help <_<
Have you tried flashing 4EXT recovery from the AIO toolkit? I have been in the same situation as you before and that always worked for me.
I just tried ... gives me "remote: not allowed"
If I ever figure out how to get out of this situation I'm in, I'm never doing superwipe ever again T_T
The only other thing that has worked for me so far was to try the file linked in the third post of this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426377
If that doesn't work I'll let you know anything else I come across; otherwise good luck and hopefully someone here with more experience can help you out.
1. Don't use Superwipe.zip..4EXT recovery has a wipe all (except sdcard) option that works just fine.
2. The only way to save your device is to flash the RUU.
Good Luck.
edit - sorry my dl link didn't work.
if you can't flash through fastboot have you tried an ruu on your sd card?
edit 2 - double0EK beat me to it!
This is a handy tool, and it should work for any situation, given that you are S-OFF.

[Q] HELP! I can't figure out how to get back to a stock ROM!

I should never have flashed my Evo 3D. I had no experience, but a buddy of mine talked me into it. It worked fine for a good while, but now...it just reboots itself randomly, and then freezes during the boot screen. I have to pull the battery to reset. I also can't use TONS of apps that I'd really like to have. Smart Glass, My Xbox 360, Bad Piggies, etc...
Anyway, I don't even know what H-Boot is, or what version I'm on. This is all the info I have...
Android Version: 2,3,4
HTC Sense Version: 3.0
Software Number: 2.08.651.2
MOD Version: InfectedROM_Synergy-3dvo_RLS-1 (NIGHTLY)
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.13-ck3+
All I want to do is go back to a stock Sprint ROM. I'd like to get the latest OTA if possible. I tried that as well, but it just searches forever. I let it go overnight once, and woke up 9 hrs later, and the thingy was still spinning.
Anyway... Any help would be MUCH APPRECIATED! This thing is driving me crazy. I'll be getting a Note II soon, but I can't take this ROM anymore,
-B
EDIT: Almost forgot... It isn't that I haven't tried anything. I grabbed a Stock ROM off of PPCGeeks, and connected my 3vo to my laptop. I ran the .exe, but it said it failed. I also got a different ROM, put it on the ROOT of my SD Card, navigated to the .zip in Recovery, and initiated a flash. Every attempt ended with the phone rebooting with the same old Synergy ROM. Once booted, I got a bunch of pop-up messages saying that various programs weren't able to run, or something like that. However, these programs included Sense, Phone, etc...

Follow this guide through Step1 and you will be 100% stock on the current Sprint ICS ROM. If any of the apps you want to run require root then you can complete Step2 as well. Since Step3 is for gaining S-OFF I doubt that you would need to do that in your situation.

THANKS! I'll give it a shot, and report back. I REALLY appreciate the help, good sir.
UPDATE: Yup...this is exactly what I did last night. All that happens is that it tells me it failed, and then reboots back to how it was. I just read a troubleshooting section, and it says to check if the bootloader is unlocked, and that if it is (via HTCDev) that it will stop this method from working. I'm pretty sure this is what's messing this up for me. However, they give no explanation as to how someone can change this. I don't even know where to look to make sure it's locked...

Wow... Sorry. lol I don't know how I missed that. How do I run this oem tthing? The guide says I should know how to do this, but I unlocked this thing well over a year ago, and only did it once. I just tried reading a tut, but it doesn't even say how to do this, and it also says that if it isn't done correctly, it will brick my phone. He says there is never a reason to go back to 'stock'. Well, the thing is... I understand everything but re-locking this boot loader. That's all I have to do for this to work, but I just don't understand that thread at all. It's just gibberish to me. I mean, is it a program I have to use? Do I type something in? IDK... That thread is pretty hard to understand if you have no knowledge of this stuff.
I found this: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/9322-how-to-relocked-hboot-htc-root-method/ ...but it doesn't do anything when I type in the cmd.
Mogul, you could find a stock rooted Rom that would be essentially the same thing as returning to stock without having to relock. I'm sure RamJet will have a link as I'm at a restaurant ignoring my girlfriend.

He wants ota updates.
He won't be able to take OTA updates from sprint if he don't relock.
@op
You need to download the rootevo3dnew.zip attached in the link you posted above. Then extract it somewhere. If you are using win xp open cmd and navigate to that folder in cmd. If you are using newer version of windows then hold shift and right click the folder which you just extracted and click "open command window here." and then connect phone in fastboot mode and type the "fastboot oem lock". Then reboot the bootloader, you will re locked instead of unlocked at the top. Now you can run the ruu.
Or hit me up on gtalk when you have 20-30 mins time, i will guide you.
