On my phone when I access the hidden menu (type "3845#*506#" on dialer) and go to the device test for the motion sensor the values jump around a lot, for example from -6 to 165, this sometimes effects programs like compass mode in street view. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Is there a way to calibrate or reset the sensor?
To calibrate, wave your phone around in a figure "8".

Thanks for the response, but that didn't work for me, the numbers keep changing. Is this normal? Do your numbers jump around?

Hi,
Whenever I try a game that uses the S2's motion sensor like Glyder or Nova 2, left and right seem to be switched. Maybe its me, but it just feels wrong when you lift the left side of your phone and your view or character goes left as well.
Does anyone know if this is configurable, because it doesn't seem to be an option within the games.
Thank you for any feedback.
Regards,
Karel
Calibrate your sensors (Settings > Display Horzontal/Gyro Calibration) and also check in-game settings?

Get glyder from the market instead of Samsung Apps. The one from Samsung doesn't work properly.
Glyder also does this on my phone. Tried calibrating, assumed it's a game glitch.
Hi,
Thank you all for the tips.
I've actually tried horizontal calibration, but nothing changes.
I'll try downloading the Glyder app from the market instead and see if that makes a difference.
For Nova you can actually set the gyro settings to 270 degrees instead of 90, but then up and down handles a bit awkward.
I'm guessing there is no solution for this yet so I'll wait for someone to release an app for this someday.
Just one of the disadvantages of a brand new phone model
Wow! I thought that was how Glyder was supposed to be ... I actually got pretty good at the controls
Update
Just a quick update to say the market Glyder app is working fine.
It turns out that my accelerometer is off by -.304ish on the horizontal axis. Anyone know how to calibrate it on the system level.
Please help, this can be very annoying when playing games that don't have a calibrator included.
BUMP. If anyone knows a way can you please tell me because this can become a nuisance at times...every game without a calibrator included tends to move towards the left...such as NFS Shift. The car tends to go to the left when holding the phone completely level.
ANY files I can tweak to change the sensor settings.
ANY programs that change the SYSTEM accelerometer
ANY help would be appreciated.
You can access test/calibration service via adb:
Code:
/system/bin/akmd2 -s
BUT I don't recommend it. Be warned that you may mess up your device!
Cheers,
z
DAMN, if a veteran android developer advises not to mess with the files...I would probably be stupid not to listen...I guess I will just leave it alone.
Okay I was stupid and did not listen...and tried it. BUT it doesn't actually change the sensor...
Start Factory Shipment Test
Start HDOE calibration
Start measurement
Start acceleration sensor calibration
I clicked Start acceleration sensor calibration, and and set it up according to the instructions...but everything remains the same.
Still a small tilt in horizontal direction.
MUIU rocks... i love this rom! However, anyone know of a way to configure the compass in this rom? it seems to partially work, for the most part, the accelometer takes over.... if you load a compass or app that uses it, it will face north where ever your phone is tilted up(ex, if you hold the phone level then elevate the bottom of the phone where touch sensitive buttions are... the compass will think that is north..... at first you would think its just plain broken and that it is only useing the accelometer, but if you take a magnet and put it near the phone, the compass will change direction by the magnet... so it seems to me that there are 2 inputs being activated here... with the most prominent being the accolemeter
is this a driver issue or is there any known way to hack/calibrate this?
there are several apps that depend on the compass to work properly(star charts/ google sky ect..)
i really dont want to flast back to 2.2....
Flip it up and down a few times.

I don't know wheter this is accelerometer or gyroscope, but I have problems with moving from portrait to landscape, vice versa. It goes to landscape abnormaly fast, but when I take it up and want it to use in portrait mode, It doesn't want to move, I have to touch the screen and shake phone a bit and then it would change... I accidently entered calibration gyroscope and tamper in there, how to fix that? Help
I place it on the table in the portrait mode, and after like 5 seconds it changes to landscape. Lol
Menu / settings / display /
1. Horizontal calibration
2. Gyro calibration

Yes, I did that, again, still the same.
Download a diagnostics app such as Sensor List (vector rotation sensor) or Z-DeviceTest and check that your X-Y-Z axis are actually changing in "real time". If they are, more than likely a ROM issue and not hardware. Edit: In that case, backup, factory reset. If rooted, same, but also wipe cache and dalvil in recovey before flashing ROM in Recovery or Odin.
I recalibrated like 10 times, cleared cache, and now it's ok. I don't know what was wrong.
I have the same problem with LBP, LBH ICS leaks.
When I played Modern Combat3, the kyroscope always get wrong way.
When I play games like temple run, my phone tilts to the left by itself. Is this hardware related problem? I already tried other roms but the problem remains. There are games/applications that let you tweek the default axis, but only for that specific app. Is there a way to repair this?

I wold like to know the answer to this too, i remember that at the first run i did a calibration setup and i can't seem to find that in the menu, the only thing is the compass calibration that doesn't seem to change anything for the g-sensor. Now my phone is about 4 degrees tilted to the left. PLEASE HELP!
What do you mean at the first run? Are you sure the calibration was for the phone axis? I be searched the web long enough to know that there is no such setting on the ATRIX. The only calibrating thing is the compass and that has nothing to do with tilting(I think ;p)

Mine is tilted 4 degrees to the left too! Could it be a coincidence?
