If I sell my optimus I need only $20 more to buy a gio.
I just want to buy it bcos it has no problem with multitouch and no touchbug. And a little bigger processor than optimus.
Worth it? If not why.
And dont tell me to buy other expensive phones like sgs2 and such

IMO, I would never/ever buy Samsung device again (I still have Samsung Galaxy), cause their support sucks big time. Unless the unit is from top of the line products.
Regarding Samsung Galaxy Gio:
- it has less internal memory then O1
- OS is 2.2 Froyo (don't know if it will get 2.3 version)
- 1350 mAh battery vs 1500 mAh from O1
- how much RAM it has is a real question (cause RAM is a must have)
In the end: I don't think that just because of a faster processor (800 MHz) is worth your money and an upgrade. Better wait till fall for other, maybe better upgrade.
So that's a big NO for this option (but in the end it's your choice).

There is no point in going for Gio, and selling Optimus one. Whats the major difference in both the phones except the Gio using chipset Qualcomm QCT MSM7227 which is overclocked at 800mhz. If you using custom rom, the least OC you get in optimus one is 729 which would be stable.
So does it make any difference of mere 70-100mhz. Offcourse, you can somewhat resolve the touchscreen bug issue through mik's kernel.
The rest screen resolution, camera etc are same. Its not worth to pay extra to get the Gio, when you have a working CM7/GB rom for optimus one.
PS: I am not sure about the ram in Gio, but if its <=512mb (optimus one), thn you are wasting your money.

i hardly think there would be a dev section for gio in xda so custom roms would be out of question...if ur buying a new phone, buy d 1 which has good developer section.

Exactly, plus increase your budget to buy a better phone in future rather thn selling the current phone and buying a downgrade phone with no dev support yet, plus ram is still questionable.
Guys guys I don't really care about custom roms or kernel. Because gio don't need them. It has nothing to fix such as multitouch bug or touch bug 100% cpu or gpu or whatever.
And RAM problem? I don't think so, my friend own a galaxy ace and has no ram problem whatsoever he even use 5 homescreens with launcher pro.
And the battery thingy, I do not care less even if optimus had 1500mah than 1350mah(gio) or whatever bcos I still ended up charging it every single day and same goes with gio in the future too I guess. So the difference is not that big in battery imo.
And like I said, I don't plan to buy gio for an upgrade phone I just want it because it has no problem especially touch and multitouch problem which optimus had now, and the official gingerbread rom kernel still hasn't fixed this issue.
Oh and no gingerbread updates? I DONT really care. Although I read some news that ace, gio, fit and galaxy mini WILL get gb updates sometimes this year.

No one has said anything about low ram ? Did someone ? I said I was not able to find how much ram does it have.
You should buy Gio, as you have already made up your mind and wasting time of others saying Gio has this/that. You get the reviews which are not bais on the device they are using. Good luck with your purchase.
Less Ram often means less speed because ram need to get flushed more often to load new data. Just like when using a pc. It's getting less responsive.
It will be a good riddance from our community!! Go for it

Update your phone to gingerbread from the LG update and see if you still have problems. The Gio is probably the better off phone if your looking for just stock, but the hack community here is the best and you will regret not having such a great team of devs that work on the optimus.
Title says it all.
Hey guys, I come from optimus one forum and want to ask questions and some opinions here since I can't find galaxy Gio forum.
Is it worth it? I'm so fed up of my O1 has some problem with multitouch axis and touchbug. I know theres a kernel for it but its custom kernel and it still doesn't fixed it completely.
I want to sell my optimus to buy gio. Gio has nearly same specs with ace except camera, ignore that since I don't really care with the camera. Is it worth it?
I see ace and Gio plays some heavy games like Gameloft perfectly and smooth unlike my O1.
I wonder if your ace and gio can be overclocked from 800mhz to 900mhz+? because my O1 can from 600mhz to 865mhz maximum.
So tell me your opinion. I know that ace and Gio has less ram than O1. What problem has you encounter with such a low ram? Or there is no problem at all?
Thank you.

For 2.3 gingerbread your background apps get closed a lot, that's all for ram. Overclocking not under development yet..
Edit, I'm referring to ace. Gio forum is not here.. I chose ace though because of the Turbo 800mhz.

Meh...gio has a smaller screen if i'm not mistaken. it's 3.2'' while ace has 3.5''. Also gio doesn't have a led flash, ace does have one and it's quite useful (for me at least). All in all there aren't many differences between the two but ace scores more points with a bigger screen, led flash and better design

I have both (well, my wife has the Gio, I have the Ace).
Ace has much better camera (Gio has no flash), and can take shots at night (though still not great photos).
Ace has slightly bigger screen, but same resolution - so Gio is actually slightly sharper screen.
Ace looks a bit nicer (IMO)
Ace seems more popular so there are more aftermarket accessories, and has a budding dev community (Gio has very little to no dev community AFAIK).
Gio appears to have less SOD's due to Wifi+sleeping issues (but I haven't tested the Gio too much in that regard)
Everything else seems to be the same (including the Wifi "Error" bug - at least with stock fw's on 2.2.1).
All other apps/etc/etc run similarly on Gio and Ace (with my limited testing).

Well i would never recommend you to shift from O1 to gio. Gio has no dev support !! O1 has a great dev support and i wonder why you want to shift. Gio also has low ram whereas your O1 has more ram and can be overclocked to perform well. If you were shifting to a better phone , then that would had made sence. But spending money and shifting to a completely same device with 0 dev support wont be a nice decision.

I noticed that when i play heavy games (like dead space), even I'd i clear cache (with adrenaline boost) and close other apps it still lags. In order to have the game running as it should o have to reboot the phone, so that there is nothing that can slow it.
Why does this happen? Shouldn't all be cleared by killing apps and clearing cache?

Oh man, lately people are always pissed off in this forum!
It was obviously an ironic comparison, sure as hell that there are GALAXIES between the 2 of them (got the joke? ..galaxies? ).
This was meant to explain that many people don't care about a little lag in a great game, as long as they can enjoy it... and standing to the economical possibilities they have.
I, personally, try pushing my phone over the limits day by day, because i don't have the money (ans the will) to buy a newer one, which will become outdated in a year or so.
I hope i explained clearly what is my thought.
Back on topic, my only real question was about knowing why it seems not possible to have the same performances obtained with a reboot by wiping background processes, cache, killing apps etc.
I don't think this is a stupid question but, if someone does, he is asked not to say the same things (Ace is not for gaming.. bla bla bla).
Thank you very much for your attention!

why do u want to overclock in the first place.since 1200mhz is more than enough for the beast (ur GS2) to wrk efficiently. do rewert back, since overclocking or undervolting will always lead to issue's like, overheating, random freeze's and reboots rather than improving the performance

Galaxy S2 is very fast! There is no need to overclock your device. If you are looking for the best stats and performance for the Galaxy S2. Go back to Gingerbread. Meaning install a custom gingerbread based Rom and Kernel. Mix and match different Kernels and Roms until you find a Rom and Kernel that suits you. Remember its not all about the best stats on benchmark tests. Enjoy your phone!!
