why do u want to overclock in the first place.since 1200mhz is more than enough for the beast (ur GS2) to wrk efficiently. do rewert back, since overclocking or undervolting will always lead to issue's like, overheating, random freeze's and reboots rather than improving the performance

All phones aren't created equally and therefore some can't handle being oc or uv. That being said, have you tried to give out more voltage?

Galaxy S2 is very fast! There is no need to overclock your device. If you are looking for the best stats and performance for the Galaxy S2. Go back to Gingerbread. Meaning install a custom gingerbread based Rom and Kernel. Mix and match different Kernels and Roms until you find a Rom and Kernel that suits you. Remember its not all about the best stats on benchmark tests. Enjoy your phone!!

Hello,
I have installed the Megatron Rom and the Mik_OS Kernal. When I SetCPU the device to 768MHz+ the phone will freeze after 30 seconds. The screen goes black for a second and then the screen turns on again and the brightness is slightly brighter and the whole phone is frozen and I can't do anything . I have to take the battery out and put it in again to fix the problem. Right now I am running on 748MHz and sometimes 729MHz.
Please help me fix the freezing problem.
Thanks
thats called a kernel panic. sometimes your phone cannot handle the frequency that you set and when that happens, your phone freezes (or reboots or shuts down). if you want to be able to overclock to a higher frequency, try flashing another kernel
I found that on my wifes phone I can't overclock past 748 or else it has problems. My phone is stable at 768, same models. I guess it's just the way different phones behave.

There are some phones that are stable at 806 while some guys here reported kernel panics at 729. It differs.

If I need to flash another kernal then what kernal do you recommend for me? I usually like performance based ones.

I have installed the Franco Kernel but when I reboot the phone it says that it is overheated and it shuts down. I have rebooted several times and it still doesn't work. I am immediately changing the custom kernel.
Hye i hve an official gingerbread 2.3.3 V20d rom(rooted) and i wan. To overclock my optimus one, do i need a custom kernel to do that? Im new to this so pls guide me
yes you need a custom kernel

thnks, can u suggest me the custom kernel for the stock rom? and do i need custom recovery?
you need a rooted phone and a kernel that works with the stock rom you are on.
most kernels only seem to work with some custom roms. But you search and you will find
I ran 480mhz and 729mhz for the longest time with no issues.
Right now I'm at 122mhz and 480mhz (longer battery life), and the fact that I'm not running games or intensive graphics or anything.
ROM

Which rom do u use??? the stable 1 u had mentioned at 768MHz???
768mhz is just too high, the most stable and highest clock for our p500 is 729max and 691min
I tried 768 for a day and the mother board burnt the other day.

You shouldn't be going higher than 729 on the p500

Oh, oops, I've been running my p500 at 768mhz for the last 4 months and apart from the battery draining 1% a minute and the battery temperature reaching 38C° it doesn't crash, I tried 787mhz but it crashed in the first 10 seconds.

Why cant a kernel like G3Mod for Apollo be modified/adapted so the Ace can be overclocked?

Im fairly new at modding, but my guess would be that they are different phones and even though they work of simular hardware the way they work is different. There was a project working on this but it was dropped. My guess is if it was an option they probably tryed it. You have an 800mhz cpu? Is it that much of a problem, for me the biggest problem is ram! The majority of the time this is what slows down the ace, and even that isnt a huge issue.

Good evening guys. I started this thread because I'm a bit confused on what is the best OC for our SGA. Can someone help on this?
I´m using No-frills CPU Control. If it is the best, don´t know but it works and it is free

How high can you go? with respect to the stability.
The overclock capabilities depend on the kernel the app will just help you access the them
Ketuts Blackhawk kernel offers 902MHz overclock

I don´t use OC Kernel atm and i never tried out how high my Ace can go.
There are differents in how high u can go, try out at your own Risk
My phone gets into a boot loop if I overclock it to 883MHz, so be careful while overclocking. You might kill your ace

I will try to run No-frill CPU Control and post some feedback later or tomorrow. Thanks guys. Suggest different apps, for me to observe what is better for may SGA.
Samsung tests their processors to work stable at 800Mhz only.
Stable OC is a kind of lucky draw.... My Ace is stable max at 921-940Mhz......

I use setcpu i dont know if its the best but is enough for me
I feel lucky because i can get 960mhz stable with cm9, almost 1ghz.
But be careful and do it by your own risk as i said i feel "lucky"

I can do 960 but it force restarts when ever it gets hot.. so 940 is stable for me... guess you are lucky after all..

you can use setCPU application. You can buy it from market. But I prefer not to OC my phone as its drains battery and harmful too...
I'm using SetCPU (I love it since it allows to create profiles, like charging, screen off, etc...). I'm overclocked to ~860Mhz without any problems.

overclocking is too much desired.... but in a hot condition .... keep ur ace cool at normal MHZ of 800 else u can end up of excessive battery heating ,, retarding battery life...and may be a processor burn ....

My question is clear: Which kernel is the best for overclock?
Higher than 1.8ghz:good:
I use android 4.0.4

Another best kernel thread?
LOL at 1.8 Ghz! Do you want to fry your phone?
As far as i know, Almost every kernel apart from Speedmod and phenomena can overclock your phone. 1.6 GHz is the max I've seen.

WOW, do you want to be able to fry an egg on your phone?
IMO I definitely WOULDN'T overclock an S2 to 1.8ghz it's just stupid.
I did hear that the T-mobile version of the S2 can be overclocked to 1.8ghz but they're running the Snapdragon processor so it's competely different.
Want my advice? 1.2 ghz is plenty fast enough and won't damage your phone.
I play many many high end games on my S2 and I'ts played everything I've thrown at it without missing a beat.
I am intrigued though, can you pls tell me why you want to overclock so high?
Please refer to the stickied thread here before creating threads like this.
