Do any of you guys have trouble mounting the usb drive in x64 bit windows 7? All my computer sees is just removable media and no space or storage. Also it says that my drive is being used by something else? Strange?
another thing to add is that it mounts fine in my ubuntu wubi installation on the same pc;(
Many thanks
JD
Nope I'm running win 7 ultimate x64, no issues with mounting and transfering files

Its really weird, it works on linux and my laptop but not my pc?
Problem solved,
Does not like the G: letter as a drive, changed to T: and now mounts as normal
Thanks all
JD
No problem here with Win7 64bit
I'm running Win7 x64, no problem, even created new folders on the TouchPad while in Win7. Transferred over 100 photos.
Are you plugging in to a PC port or hub? Is the hub powered?
was fine for me on w7x64 ultimate
had to install some driver first though i think? i did it when i installed preware and put 102 photos on to see how they looked
I usually don't have a problem with it, but it decided to be a bugger one day. Had to restart the TouchPad twice before it would connect properly.

Hello -
I have been trying to get music transferred from my computer running Ubuntu 10.10 to my new Thunderbolt with zero success.
The computer will recognize the phone when I plug it in and select Disk Drive from the phone, but it shows up as having no available storage space, so I can't even drag-n-drop music to it.
Has anybody else had any luck with this?
Thanks!
Sounds like it's not automounting. When you plug the phone into your computer and choose disk drive, is there an icon in Nautilus, or whatever file manager you use, for the phone? If so have you tried right clicking it and choosing "Mount." Otherwise you can just mount it from the terminal.
I use ubuntu 10.10 as my media center on my laptop and have transfered music using it. It took me awhile to figure out how to sync my music, however, i was able to access the sd card right off the bat after plugging it in. Navigate to /media and see what is listed there.
On a whim, I checked for system software updates on the computer and there were a few that needed installed. After installing them, everything works great. I'm using Rhythmbox and the phone now shows up in there and will let my sync.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Hey, I've been trying to transfer some movies to my tab and it doesn't seem to be working. The windows explorer crashes when I drag over file. Any help?
Thanks in advance

The only way I could do it easily was to buy the USB adaptor and transfer via USB. This works fine for me and transfer is pretty quick. Just drop the required files you want in the relevant file directory on the tab.
I couldn't get any data transferred via WIFI or Kies so gave up and the USB transfer works fine for me. You may want to pay for the Diceplayer app though as I found the stock player had audio/video synching problems in some files.
I use an app called/ WIFI FILE EXPLORER/,to transffer everything from my pc or HD2 WM 6.5!! to my SGT.never fails and very easy.

+1 for this. Never had any problem. Are your files too big for the OS? I'm not sure what the limit is, but can you split the files up?

Transfering movies - transfer rate
Hi everyone,
First time ever in a forum so hope i am doing this right.
Bought a Samsung galaxy tab 10.1, all is good but when i transfer videos from my laptop it says i should convert for proper play back on my tab.
The issue I have is that transferring files takes like 1 hour for a HD movie and for example breaking bad 800 mb takes about 20-30 minutes.
I am just dragging and dropping from my laptop to the movie folder of my tab.
I have searched the net and many say the Kies and allshare of Samsung are a no go..
So my question is this normal transfer rate?
Do I need to install another application on my laptop or tab to be more sufficient?
Thanks
Nash
What about using SwiFTP on the tab to start an FTP server? Then use Filezilla FTP client on the computer and sign on to the FTP server. Then just transfer everything over?
Get File Expert from Android Market (free). You can then tranfer files from PC/Mac to the Tablet via your web browser.
File manager HD is pretty good for copying files over wifi.

I have usb cable as part of charger, so I can unplug this cable and use it just as usb cable.
Otherwise I am transferring data with my own app Local Sync which synchronizes Outlook, but has powerfull file synchronization with transfer resumes, md5 verification, etc.
Without any app it should be possible if you install Samsung USB drivers and disable usb debugging mode in tablet, which is activated by default - just drag and drop files between pc and tablet.
I have used Kies wifi and wired and both have worked, but of course via wifi the movie took a looooong time.
I should finally have my usb/sd adapter kit delivered next week so that will be my new way of transfering files.
nice love it

I am confused, (a common state for me when playing with my Tab, unfortunately). My Tab has the 3.2 update and I have no problem dragging and dropping files between my PC and the Tab. I have not installed any USB drivers or disabled USB debugging, at least not that I know of. I am using the stock USB charge cable.
Did the issue with USB transfers go away with the latest release?

So you're using the USB connection? Everything worked fine from the box for me.
This might help you (it's a little bit slower though) - try using File Manager HD, it's really easy to browse and copy stuff from your PC/Mac/laptop/whatever, you can even set bookmarks for easier access
I dont get it. When i plug in the usb cable in prompts to shut debugging on/off, and something for asus sync (i use ubuntu), but nothing to mount the sd card storage. Am I missing something clear as day? Please help. Thanks guys.
ps... i love this machine, worth the wait...
if you're using linux, you might have some issues mounting since it uses MTP for its transfer protocol.
wifi explorer or dropbox might be an easier solution, but maybe someone using linux can chime in and tell you if there is a way to mount it in there for file transfer.

There got to be. Thanks.
I wondered if it was possible, so when I connected it, it said cable connected on the phone. I was then able to mount storage like normal. Then in the setting-storage, I saw mount external storage, which then gave me access to the phone SD card. Pretty sweet, can transfer stuff very easily now.
nice find, this will definitely come in handy at times
Sweet, now I can transfer photos from my phone with ease! Great find!
Dropbox or AirDroid can transfer photos (and tons more) with ease & no cables needed

thats because in Android 4 / Galaxy Nexus doesnt mount as a "normal" usb device anymore. it uses the MTP protocol instead, and it mostly sucks ;-)
Doesn't work for me either - HTC Desire HD.

Yup. I can't stand MTP. I want to use Microsoft's Synctoy to sync files between my galaxy nexus and computer, and between my Prime and my computer, but Synctoy doesn't recognize MTP devices. Anyone else have another way to easily sync files on our MTP devices?

there is an awesome app called FolderSync on the Market. It also has a lite version. You can sync via (s)ftp, dropbox and about a dozen other services!
I have it set up so it syncs my photos to my PC when i'm connected to my home network and also to transfer files from a certain folder on my PC to the tablet.

I just formatted a 64gb USB flash drive in NTFS format and dropped a couple of mkv movies on it. I put them in a folder titled movies and nothing else is on the drive. When I attach the drive to my tablet using and OTG connector it mounts fine using paragon NTFS. But when I search the corresponding directory my files/folder contain the movies are nowhere to be found. Does anyone have some advice on what I may be doing wrong.
BTW I'm rooted/unlocked running CM 10.1 stable if that applies.

Why are you using paragon? CM mounts NTFS just fine... Maybe try it without?

Give USB OTG Helper a try. You can find it in the playstore.
I used this app on my Xoom to mount NTFS. I never tried no my Nexus, as I'm now with a FAT pendrive that mounts just fine
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.stickmount
i use stickmouny also. no problem at all. try pppwidget also for 3g.
Yet another guy here who has only used StickMount, which can mount NTFS read and write just fine. It's also free. Sorry. Wish I had some experience with Paragon.
Stickmount or Nexus Media Importer makes it simple. I couldn't be asked to try and make it work with other things when a solution exists for the price of a soda.
StickMount is good.

It was no possible to delete files, and suddendly stopped copying saying the there was not enough space in the file system... The usb was empty....

Fixed. It was a matter of cache lagging the whole system and not right format (ntfs)....

I do the same thing but I am running CM10.1 and don't have a problem either browsing for it through Astro file manager or via the stock gallery app.
