Hey, welcome to the team! I myself had been on stock ROM for a long time, but recently made the move over to Alien ROM and am enjoying it. Some people have the new HomeBase ROM which is supposedly snappy (as it does have an overclock kernel). I am fine with Alien though. I'm still a noob to android, but if you have any questions hopefully I can assist. I would also recommend watching qbking77's videos for flashing ROMs.
Good luck, and have fun!

New to Vibrant need some help.

Hi Guys
I have been on xda for a while, earlier I was using HD2 and learn quite alot from this community. Now I have got Vibrant as well reading about it on xda forums is a little confusing for me. Vibrant is not as easily flash able as HD2. So need your help guys. Let me tell you about device-
1.Its rooted and CWR is installed.
2.I installed the CyanogenMod 7 and it was working fine, Then I read about voodoo sound, to get it I flashed supported kernel -CM7_Vibrant_kernel_kang_20110504_r10_update.zip this one, but after installing it phone is not getting any signals and camera stopped working.
3.Well later on I thought to install bionix-v-1.3.1.zip but CWR is not installing saying not supported and operation abort.
Questions-
1.How do I go back to Froyo from gingrebread?
2.How to enable vooodoo sound?
Last but not the least I am already tired of flashing ROMs on my HD2 and I need little break. So please suggest best and stable ROM with vooodoo sound. So that I can use it for a while without facing any issue. Froyo or gingerbread any will do.
And please link me to some guide of vibrant where I can read and understand it. I found some guides but they dont seem complete.
Thanks in advance.

I suggest you download the AIO Toolbox. It has everything you will ever need. I believe its the very first post on the vibrant android development forum.
You need to ODIN back to stock to get to FROYO. (use the toolbox, it has ODIN)
as for a stable froyo ROM, i suggest Project V, lots of themes + the sweet edt tweaks app.
Hope that helps
I moved away from eclair the moment i got my phone (wait for it) but whenever i move from froyo to ginger or voce versa, i always odin first and look for instructions in OP...
Alright, kang doesnt seem to be stable, similar thhing happened to me.. flash glitch or kernel du jour for CM7.. WAY BETTER and both have voodoo color and sound... once you have em, download voodoo control from market, altho they should be active by default.
Idk too much about froyo roms; i rememver using bionix 1.3.1 and loving it.
Sent from a cell tower to the XDA server to you.
Oh and if you dont mind missing gps, flash miui.. i used it for a while and it was surprisingly good.

The 2 best guides ur gonna find are stickied in Q&A and Vibrant Android Development forums respectively.
Q&A is the "noob guide" by @s15274n the Vibrant Android Development one is "The Official Vibrant Bible" by @FATEOWNZYOU. Both should provide you with all your answers. Good luck!
You can always look through all the Roms and Etc. With my Vibrant Bible... Link im Sig.. little out of date cuz iv been on vacation.. but anything older then 2 weeks is on there for ya =)

Thanks to all for replying for a new user, this is what I like about xda whenever you are in trouble someone will come to rescue you
I have been reading guides and post from all our members and getting hang of vibrant now. Now I know almost all necessary things, will keep reading to get more knowledge.
@FATEOWNZYOU
Your guide is great thanks man for your efforts. Keep up the good work
Actually gps is working now on MIUI not perfect but it works, try ReVaMpEd its awesome!

ROM Recommendations

Hi guys
I'm getting a Touchpad tomorrow and have been looking around the ROM forum but unable to tell which is the best to install.
I've been flashing rom's for sometime onto my HTC phone and pretty comfortable with Clockwork Recovery. Is there a "How To" guide or do I need to go down the CM route?
Looking forward to seeing Android on this tablet and any help/advice to a newcomer would be appreciated.
Cheers!

There are some simple and well put togher guides in the dev section.
You need to install moboot, cwm & rom via acmeinstaller the first time you install android on these devices. Once you have moboot and cwm, you can play with other roms as easy as your HTC phones.
A lot of the guys and gals here have put some real nice guides and tweaks to make these tabs fun to play with.
I personally use the CM9... I have not jumped into the nightlies though. Mostly happy with the performance with the CM9 V2. I do however regularly check the nightly threads to see if it's worth updating.
Most of the other roms (I really have not played with many) share similar issues with CM9 builds (sporadic wifi, camera, etc) so I just stayed with the CM9 and have been happy doing so.
Good luck and have fun.
Hey welcome to the touchpad comunity!
You can start by following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452625
Once you're done sweting up CWM and Moboot
I suggest trying one of these three roms : (these are the best roms)
-Official CM9 Nightlies http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452625
-Unofficial AOKP Nightlies http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452625
-ClassicNerd ICS Butta HD http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472892
I suggest that you use Nightlies because they contain a lot of fixes plus new settings...
DON'T FORGET TO FLASH GAPPS
Once you flashed the rom of your choice
Get GooManager from play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.s0up.goomanager&hl=en
GooManafer is used to update ur roms OTA
If u wish to boost performance and/or play gameloft games Flash this zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1519161

!
Thanks for the replies!
Are you able to watch video with these ROMs? I've seen conflicting reports.
Getting excited now!

Yup all roms have hardware acceleration working everything is pretty amazing except for cam and mic and some unlucky people have wifi bug i never experienced it
Right, success!
I'm got CM Alpha 2 installed. About to try and install GAPPS.
Why does my device come up with driver installation failure when plugging usb into laptop?

Please overwrite the CM9A2 with the latest CM9 Nightly via ClockwordMod 'Install Update from ZIP'.

Done! Thanks for that.
Are the update incremental or will I need to back/up restore settings etc?
I am using AOKP on my TouchPad and it's stable and works well.

lots of tutorials/guides already explains this..
anyways, all you need is to wipe cache and dalvik when you are going through the nightlies..
I just flashed my Touchpad after many months of idleness. The first ROM I flashed turned out to be great. No force closes or lag the few days I've been using it. I highly recommend it. Very simple flashing. It's an ICS ROM too!

I'm a complete noobie when it comes to atrix , i just got it and i need help installing leaked ICS
i dont understand what fastboot is and i dont know how to get leaked ics on my device
can someone give me instructions ?
I'm rooted but i dont know if i have CWM installed or not
running GB 2.3.4
bought the phone from Egypt
i think i speak for everyone when i say, dont bother at all.
the ICS only just been realeased in undeveloped form and is dangerous at this moment in time
just wait a month or two then read a few stickies about unlocking your bootloader and flashing roms!
Beware it's too early for daily use!

I wouldn't suggest you to uprade yet because it's not stable.
I you're not an experienced user(noob) like me, you can try to flash Lokifish'es prerooted ClockWorkMod zips:

If your phone is an international version of Atrix 4g flash this RamFix with recovery, if your phone is ATT leave this alone:

I would recommend MRom(build on CM7.2) which is pretty decent especially in regard of battery life, until they create a firm version of this ICS leak. It's probably going to be a Jelly Bean release because some guy succeeded to create a JB rom out of this leaked Atrix 4G ICS leak.
Thank you both for your replies
i'm not a complete noobie, i used to have the defy and i was always upgrading to cm10 nightlies
but with the atrix everything is new to me....i feel that i'm lost and i keep reading but get nothing
i'm just so excited about the leaked ICS because i was waiting for this even before i bought the phone

I'm definitly a noob and still trying to fill the gaps in my knowledge. Right now I still cannot figure out how to even root my phone (MB860) running android 2.3.4. I would really appreciate some advice from one of you. Is there any chance I can call one of you? I am in England but just bought 2 hrs of American minutes. I also have skype.
If any of you are interested in helping out a noob I would much appreciate it. I am technically very savvy, I'm just unclear as to the interfaces of Linux and Android and the different tools out there.
Before you tell me to, I have already read the thread for noobs.
Do let me know

If all you want to do is root you can check out superoneclick root, it did the job for me on the last available GB update released. But remember that you have to have the proper drivers installed and that this does not allow you to flash custom roms, it simply gives you root access.
The drivers can be found here (I think).
superoneclick can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
also make sure to read a bit from that thread.
If you are a n00b don't install THAT rom... it's very unstable..
superoneclick rocks
superoneclick rocks, as does cwm recovery. Install both, and don't look back.
well , i managed to unlock bootloader and install recovery and now i just flashed cm10 by epinter
i love it

Thanks a lot for your initiative.
Feel great to see new developer for L9. Hoping for the best. Best of Luck.:good:
You could hook up with these guys who are planning a rom:

Also in the "Original Android Development" sub-forum there are some roms being started.
It may be better if Devs team together and pool resourses.

L9 is at the stage where Group effort is very important. The idea which one can conceive is not necessary other would conceive too. Different persons can solve problems like this (not all) faster than a single person, by sharing ideas and suggesting changes and helping each others in changes and experiments. Goodluck to all.

Everyone's idea of "good" is different. Try this for starters http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551140
Then try for yourself.
Bit more responsive? How fast do you want? I've never had such a fast and responsive phone. I've always been a flash junkie but I don't even feel the need to root not alone install a custom rom. The speed and battery on this phone is simply amazing.

I would suggest you not to root but it's too late anyway.
Have fun playing with it.
Thanks for all your replies, yes it is quick but the stock rom does it no justice i can tell that it could be quicker, and i have to root so i can do certain things that i need to do.

Get TWRP recovery 2.6.3.3. on it and flash you some CM11
Of course, first make a back up of your current rom so you can always go back to it.But you just got it, I enjoyed the stock rom for a bit before I starting flashing other roms. Then again we didnt have many to flash in the beginning
Houstonn's 4.4.2 PA has been good to me. 12/24 release is very smooth and great battery life.
OP enjoy your new device, go check out the Development section for all the great work....ensure you are in the correct Model forums.
