I was using my tab while keeping it charging, got the battery 100% full notification, so I unplugged the charger. However, it thinks it's still plugged in. I've tried restarting multiple times and wiping cache, dalvik cache, and battery stats, but it's still happening.
The big problem is that now it won't recognize other things, such as plugging in a USB drive or game controller with the adapter. How do I fix it?

I maybe wrong but it sounds as if your charging port may be messed up somehow. Call the Samsung number on the back of the tab its on the bottom it'd really small lettering though. They may be able to help.

That's what I ended up doing. Their customer support is amazing! 24/7 phone line, and it took five minutes to refill them what was going on and that I has already retired everything like resetting, and now they're sending me a shipping label free of charge to repair it. I'll have it back (same one, not a new one) in 5-14 days from when I send it in with the label, which should be 3-5 days to get. Not too bad srt all.

Samsung Galaxy Player 5 Charging Issue
Slightly different device, same problem. My Player will continue to show as charging after I unplug it. This does not happen every time, but it happens more often than not. Also, wall charger or PC both cause the problem. A little more info about my device: I have an un-rooted domestic (American) version of the YP-G70, which is a 5in Android device with no cellular connection of any kind (wifi only). I have had no other problems with the device and it is only a few days old. I suspect I will have to get it sent back to Sammy. Anyway, thanks in advance for any help, and please spare the noob!

i was using mpdroid the other day. the app crashed a few times. After fussing with the app for a bit, i had the phone next to me on the table. I noticed that the phone had restarted itself and appeared to have hung with the red Motorola boot icon. So i pulled the battery and tried to turn it on. No response.
I have tried the following
-left on factory charger for a day. Have tried blackberry and iphone chargers as well
-plugged into USB port on PC, results in green light being lit for short period of time
-factory hard reset (volume down and lock button at same time).
-a friends fully charged battery
the only one of these methods that resulted in any indication of life is the lighting of the green indicator light when plugged into a PC's USB port.
at the very least i would like to wipe all my data off the phone before exchanging it at at&t. Is there anything i can do to either recover the phone or wipe it?
You need a factory test cable look in dev section on how to make one then flash a sbf with rsd. That's how I fixed mine
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
Note to your self please check cables to make sure they aren't touching one another when u make one if the 5vdc shorts with the wrong wire it will short both ur computer and phone
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
do the at&t service centers have the ability to do this? There is one nearby that i can stop at after work.
I assume that since id be flashing the phone that id lose everything that is on it?
I don't know really I don't think so its a cable that moto uses. Plus I wouldn't take it to store most of them guys don't know what they are doing. Plus you run the risk of him trying to factory reset and permanently bricking your phone. What have you installed which build. I would make that cable and then use fastboot to flash 2.3.4 . Then again its up to you. YOU CAN TRY to bs the store by saying it was updating then wouldn't come back on, you may get a dumb one.

Since i am so busy these days i might skip making the cable and just exchange the phone. It would be a legitimate return as the phone did this to itself. I haven't modified it or installed anything outside of the standard app store.

I have a white galaxy note on AT&T rooted with saurom 7.1 and for some reason when I use my USB extension with the original or after market charging wire the phone will not charge, in fact it still uncharges while I'm using it but it shows it plugged in.
It's not the rom because it did it before I flashed it from stock and also on the ICS leak and now again on saurom 7.1. Without the extension though it charges perfectly normal and quickly. One day it took 6 hours to go from 2% to 13% while it wasn't in use. I've also tried using other extensions I have and the one identical one did the same thing and another shorter one actually didn't allow the phone to charge at all or show it was plugged in... What gives?

I would recalibrated the battery using a app that requires root in market.....wait till it hits 100 then recalibrate it....then let it drain all the way down....charge to 100 then do it again....this way the battery and system knows the true values...just my opinion I would try

Are you plugging into a wall outlet or a USB port on computer. There are a number of battery threads on here, but the quick recap is that the USB port on your computer isn't going to charge your Note very quickly or at all when you use it because the USB port doesn't provide enough power.
It'll charge much faster from the wall.
And even faster if you're not using it.

From the wall with a USB extension it took 5-6 hours to go up 12% without it, it goes to 12% in 5-7 minutes. This is without using it.

I had the same problem with my note, it wouldn't charge via data cable or factory charging cable or 3rd party cable. After speaking with Samsung they said that this is a known issue, but did not tell me what the issue was except that it did not affect the battery. They sent me a new device, and was instructed to use my original back cover, battery, and they sent me a replacement factory charging cable and was instructed to use it exclusively. I got the feeling it was a port/cable issue and that they were well aware of it with an efficient return policy set up. Maybe you won't have to go this route, but a free (new, not reman) phone is a free phone.

Little more description of your problem would help.
As was asked, does the screen shut off, or does it completely shut down and then show you the charging screen?
Have you checked your logs to see what your phone has to say? (and if you haven't, don't ask "How do I do that?", there's a number of threads that have discussed it. Do a simple google/xda/google play search for dmesg)

My phone does the same. When I plug in the charger ( USB cable plugged into wall unit) the screen shuts off, I hear a click inside the phone, and then the phone reboots over and over. If I plug it in with the power off, I see the battery, with the cursor for about 2 seconds, then repeated over and over.
On my phone the USB port was broken so I purchased a replacement " board", not just the connector, and put it in. Any thoughts. Thanks. Phone is fine otherwise.

What I would do is first make a Nandroid backup (I'm assuming you know how to, since you have a custom ROM) and maybe a TiBu backup as well.
Then, try going into CWM and wiping data to factory reset, wiping the cache, and wiping Dalvik cache, then reflashing the latest version of the ROM you already have installed. See if that helps. It probably isn't an issue with your ROM but then again precautions are always good to narrow down the real problem.
Good thought. Did try that and no better. Sending in for warranty. Pretty sure it is a hardware issue.

Yeah. Sounds like it would be a hardware problem. Not sure why I thought it might be something else.

I had this problem. It is due to using an aftermarket battery without Near Field Communication. The batter I have seems to be authentic Samsung, but was made for the i9100, with doesn't have this NFC chip. These aftermarket batteries have to be charged in a separate charger. You will notice the NFC batteries are slightly thicker and have "Near Field Communication" under the Samsung logo.
That could be it. I already sent it in for repair, but I did purchase 3 genuine Samsung batteries for the i9100 to use in my i777. They work fine in my i9100. Good to know. Thanks.

Samsung knows about this
I know this is an old thread, but I just called Samsung for this problem on a non custom ROM, non-rooted, S2 and the agent didn't specifically say that it is a known problem but he told me he would set up free repair without even asking when I bought it or any other purchase verification. I work for a fairly large tech retailer and in my experience this usually means that it is a known issue.
I did find it to be the batteries that i purchased. They were for the i-9100. The att version needs a device appropriate battery. They say nfc on them. I sent it in for repair and samsung said that they couldnt find anything wrong

Have you tried wipe cache and dalvik?
I have same problem sometimes even when not plugged in. I think it might be cause of some Stweaks setting when the screen is off for a long time. Please let me know what I can change.
I have the exact same issue, I ordered this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BGM392G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it shuts off when plugged in. I flashed a custom kernel and it fixed the issue, but it happens all over when I odin to stock. Is this a HW problem with my phone, or just a bad battery? EDIT- I looked under the label and there is indeed no nfc antenna, even though the label says nfc and there are 4 contact points. I will be returning the battery and updating.

So my little sister's tablet the SGT 10.1 just pooped out apparently. About a month ago it stopped responding to USB Mass Storage/MTP when connected to computer and now it just won't charge/turn on. So I tested out the charger/usb on my samsung galaxy note 10.1 and seems that the charger is dead so I was like great, the charger's dead not the tablet. I plug in my galaxy note 10.1's charger and charge the tablet overnight and try to turn it on this morning and it still doesn't turn on (yes I held the power for at least 15,30,60 seconds and also tried to get into recovery or download mode). Is this tablet salvageable or am I going to have to pay a hefty fee to get it repaired? I am out of warranty because this was a refurbished product (never buying refurb again btw). I'm not sure whether the entire MOBO is dead, or the SSD, or the battery. Not sure where to start troubleshooting but am willing to take the time to repair it myself if I have some hopes of preserving her data which has countless pictures and videos. And I'm pretty sure there's no way to take the nand flash chip and transfer the data to the a computer...or is there? Any advice or comments are appreciated. Thank you.
Are you able to get into recovery mode?
Lol did you even read my post? No it doesn't turn on at all no download recovery nothing.

31 dollars to diagnose the problem, 86 to replace the battery, 200ish to replace the MOBO, and 63 to replace the power button. It could be any of these.
Sounds like you have a dead unit to me. I think you need to decide how much that data is worth to you.

But the led flash light on the back side makes a short flash every 15-20 sec
Help needed
Thanks for answers
IF you are up to it and you know what you are doing.. you could find a dis-assembly guide for the tablet..
Take the battery out and get it checked / charged separately from the unit.. Just make sure you're giving it 2 amps at the correct voltage..
Connect a DC supply at the correct voltage, and limited current, to the unit, and see if it powers on..
That will give you some answers at least as to where the problem lies.
All at your own risk of course..
Try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it. I know this method sounds too easy but that happened to me. I bought my tab from eBay with a cracked digitizer and LCD, so I didn't know what exactly could be wrong with it. Before I got my replacement parts, it would power up but since it came with no USB/charger, the battery had almost no juice. Before I received the cable, it came to a point where the thing wasn't turning on at all... even with the little juice it supposedly had.. and yes, I was doing all of the button combos. So a few days pass by before I finally disconnect the only component I had yet to disassemble (battery) and I reconnect it and the tab turns on. :what:
I was amazed at why that was even the issue. So that's one thing you could try in your attempt at cornering the problem.

Hi all. I have a big problem. I placed my phone onto my desk before sleeping (my battery was +/-55%). When I woke up my phone did not want to go on. I tried charging it for 3 hours with my 2 pin charger and it still didn't want to come on (the charging battery animation didn't even show). I also tried charging with the USB cable via PC but that didn't help. I used my multi-meter to check if the battery was working and it showed that it contains +/-3.4V (battery is rated 3.5V). I tried to boot up into recovery mode (volume down + home button + power button) but it still didn't come on
I bought my phone at the beginning of the year (brand new) and it has been working with no problems until today. I have essential data on my phone (phone book, messages, apps etc) which are really important and I wouldn't want to lose them. Help would be much appreciated.

But how can it get bricked out of the blue? Was working perfectly night before happened. The only app I installed was Angry Birds: Star Wars (officially from Play Google Market).
Hard to say. Phones (like any other electronics) can die for all kinds of obscure reasons.
Service centre or JTAG repair; if you choose the latter option (assuming it can be JTAG'd & it's not a hardware issue), you could ask the repairer if they can recover your data. Might be possible. Service centre will wipe it if it if it's not a hardware issue, and if it is, they'll replace the MB which means you get new internal storage/you'll lose your stuff.
LOL.
