Have you found a solution?

Is it just your screens timing out or like your holding the power button? Are you using a wall charger or usb to a pc?

Little more description of your problem would help.
As was asked, does the screen shut off, or does it completely shut down and then show you the charging screen?
Have you checked your logs to see what your phone has to say? (and if you haven't, don't ask "How do I do that?", there's a number of threads that have discussed it. Do a simple google/xda/google play search for dmesg)

My phone does the same. When I plug in the charger ( USB cable plugged into wall unit) the screen shuts off, I hear a click inside the phone, and then the phone reboots over and over. If I plug it in with the power off, I see the battery, with the cursor for about 2 seconds, then repeated over and over.
On my phone the USB port was broken so I purchased a replacement " board", not just the connector, and put it in. Any thoughts. Thanks. Phone is fine otherwise.

What I would do is first make a Nandroid backup (I'm assuming you know how to, since you have a custom ROM) and maybe a TiBu backup as well.
Then, try going into CWM and wiping data to factory reset, wiping the cache, and wiping Dalvik cache, then reflashing the latest version of the ROM you already have installed. See if that helps. It probably isn't an issue with your ROM but then again precautions are always good to narrow down the real problem.

Good thought. Did try that and no better. Sending in for warranty. Pretty sure it is a hardware issue.

Yeah. Sounds like it would be a hardware problem. Not sure why I thought it might be something else.

I had this problem. It is due to using an aftermarket battery without Near Field Communication. The batter I have seems to be authentic Samsung, but was made for the i9100, with doesn't have this NFC chip. These aftermarket batteries have to be charged in a separate charger. You will notice the NFC batteries are slightly thicker and have "Near Field Communication" under the Samsung logo.

That could be it. I already sent it in for repair, but I did purchase 3 genuine Samsung batteries for the i9100 to use in my i777. They work fine in my i9100. Good to know. Thanks.

Samsung knows about this
I know this is an old thread, but I just called Samsung for this problem on a non custom ROM, non-rooted, S2 and the agent didn't specifically say that it is a known problem but he told me he would set up free repair without even asking when I bought it or any other purchase verification. I work for a fairly large tech retailer and in my experience this usually means that it is a known issue.

I did find it to be the batteries that i purchased. They were for the i-9100. The att version needs a device appropriate battery. They say nfc on them. I sent it in for repair and samsung said that they couldnt find anything wrong

I used to have this problem with the stock ROM using the stock battery. Hasn't been a problem since install CM 10.1.3 with either my stock or non-NFC aftermarket batt.

Have you tried wipe cache and dalvik?

I have same problem sometimes even when not plugged in. I think it might be cause of some Stweaks setting when the screen is off for a long time. Please let me know what I can change.

I have the exact same issue, I ordered this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BGM392G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it shuts off when plugged in. I flashed a custom kernel and it fixed the issue, but it happens all over when I odin to stock. Is this a HW problem with my phone, or just a bad battery? EDIT- I looked under the label and there is indeed no nfc antenna, even though the label says nfc and there are 4 contact points. I will be returning the battery and updating.

i m using redmi note 5 pro with corvus os latest and i flashed update and clean dalvic and catch
but still the problem same some time phone gt off when charger connected

Tab thinks it's charging

I was using my tab while keeping it charging, got the battery 100% full notification, so I unplugged the charger. However, it thinks it's still plugged in. I've tried restarting multiple times and wiping cache, dalvik cache, and battery stats, but it's still happening.
The big problem is that now it won't recognize other things, such as plugging in a USB drive or game controller with the adapter. How do I fix it?

I maybe wrong but it sounds as if your charging port may be messed up somehow. Call the Samsung number on the back of the tab its on the bottom it'd really small lettering though. They may be able to help.

That's what I ended up doing. Their customer support is amazing! 24/7 phone line, and it took five minutes to refill them what was going on and that I has already retired everything like resetting, and now they're sending me a shipping label free of charge to repair it. I'll have it back (same one, not a new one) in 5-14 days from when I send it in with the label, which should be 3-5 days to get. Not too bad srt all.

Samsung Galaxy Player 5 Charging Issue
Slightly different device, same problem. My Player will continue to show as charging after I unplug it. This does not happen every time, but it happens more often than not. Also, wall charger or PC both cause the problem. A little more info about my device: I have an un-rooted domestic (American) version of the YP-G70, which is a 5in Android device with no cellular connection of any kind (wifi only). I have had no other problems with the device and it is only a few days old. I suspect I will have to get it sent back to Sammy. Anyway, thanks in advance for any help, and please spare the noob!

[Q] S II dead :(

Hi all. I have a big problem. I placed my phone onto my desk before sleeping (my battery was +/-55%). When I woke up my phone did not want to go on. I tried charging it for 3 hours with my 2 pin charger and it still didn't want to come on (the charging battery animation didn't even show). I also tried charging with the USB cable via PC but that didn't help. I used my multi-meter to check if the battery was working and it showed that it contains +/-3.4V (battery is rated 3.5V). I tried to boot up into recovery mode (volume down + home button + power button) but it still didn't come on
I bought my phone at the beginning of the year (brand new) and it has been working with no problems until today. I have essential data on my phone (phone book, messages, apps etc) which are really important and I wouldn't want to lose them. Help would be much appreciated.

But how can it get bricked out of the blue? Was working perfectly night before happened. The only app I installed was Angry Birds: Star Wars (officially from Play Google Market).
Hard to say. Phones (like any other electronics) can die for all kinds of obscure reasons.
Service centre or JTAG repair; if you choose the latter option (assuming it can be JTAG'd & it's not a hardware issue), you could ask the repairer if they can recover your data. Might be possible. Service centre will wipe it if it if it's not a hardware issue, and if it is, they'll replace the MB which means you get new internal storage/you'll lose your stuff.
LOL.

put the charger into the phone hold the bottom of the usb (the last piece .. of the charger) and move it

Why make one? It costs < 5$ (even for 1$ in ebay) anyway. Worth a try.
Same Issue
I have the exact same issue with my i9100. I woke up and it was dead. No recovery mode, no download mode, nada...nothing comes up on screen. It has been a little buggy ever since the ICS update but it has always worked eventually. I put the battery into my friend's phone and his worked fine. I am really hoping somebody has answers and it is just not "dead". I never used a ROM or anything, it's killing me that a $500 can just die overnight like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If your phone is still under warranty, go to Samsung service center.

I can not believe that just happened overnight, the only possibility is that you put some of the room's, if you have a warranty on the device, you can send it to the service and just hope that they will accept it and serviced

[Q] Very slow charging galaxy s3

Hi,
Since 1 week now I have some huge difficulties to charge my GS3. For exemple when I plug it before going to sleep, in the morning there is only 50%. Sometimes I plug it and it stop the charge itself (not at 100%), i have to move the cable a little to continue the charge.
I tried several cable and plugs, nothing change.
Does anybody experienced this? What can I do?
Ps : I already read this post but I didn't find any answer.
Thx
I presume you charged the phone through the AC power? I had similar issue prior which was resolved once I wiped my Battery Stats. Is your phone rooted?
yes my phone is rooter I have omega V35 ROM and i already tried to wipe the battery stats and nothing changed
Im sure you have also clear cache, wipe, reflash the ROM? Its highly unlikely that all of your chargers are malfunctioning, If the phone is still within the warranty period, it may be time for you to visit Samsung Service Centre (SSC)...but unroot first!

no i didn't tried to reflash the ROM cause it was working great with this ROM before, I contacted samsung and they will repare it but i need to find the bill first. Is it really necessary to unroot the phone? Installing a stock ROM is good or is there something else to do to unroot it?

unrooting is in reference to returing to stock ROM. SSC will invalid warranties to rooted phones.
i just reflash the ROM and the phone is still very slow to charge.
I will send back to samsung i think.
i just installed the Omage ROM V38 and i still have the problem, you can look at this graph :
Take battery out for 10 minutes. Plug back in and see. If not possibly battery port issue, my wife's had to be sent back for it.

So different USB cables didn't helped? That usually does the trick. Other than that try kernel such as yank kernel which allows fast charging option.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
First flash STOCK ROM and see what's gonna happen.
If the problem still persists, send your phone for service.
Make sure there are no signs of custom ROMs and Kernels.
Solution is the CABLE
Here is a confirmation of the solution from Turkey: It IS the CABLE...
Check the cable end that goes into the S3, if you see 5 places but with only 4 wires, it charges VERY slowly... However, I used a $5 charger which had 5 wires in the end that goes into galaxy S3 and voila!

My stock Samsung cable has those 4 connections instead of, what looks like the 5 that can fit in. And it charges so slowly!
9/10 its the cable. I don't know bout what is said above. Mine charged fast then suddenly started charging slowly. It was to do with the kernels usb charger stability detection.

So if I install stock Android, will that change the kernal and therefore fix the issue?
I don't see why I should have to pay and wait for a new cable, even if it's only a few quid and a few days :/

All Samsung kernels have the detection. Whether changing the kernel or cable fixes it or not is not knowable.
all you can do is try. can you not borrow a cable to test it? Surely you know someone with a cable?
yes, mine s3 to does charge slow i have the Purelook HD rom please help, take my phone on charger from 4& next morning about 50- 60 & only charged!!
I have a similar issue here, although my problem only started with latest arhd 25.0 Rom, never had this with previous roms of arhd....some times the charge is very fast , then next time it will charge to 19% then stop, then next time it's fast then will be very slow... very intermittent, I have changed chargers. Still same results, going to try wipe the battery stats to see if that helps.

Phone Died And Won't Charge

Hello,
Well, I was just on facebook messaging my friend. My battery soon reached 30% so my phone entered power saving mode. Suddenly, my phone turned off and now it won't charge. When I plug in the charger, the battery charge sign loads but then goes white and turns off. I tried entering recovery mode (hold power and vol up and vol down), but it didn't work. I tried entering download mode using all methods possible and that didn't work either. I have Serendipity 9.4 installed on my phone and it is rooted. What should I do? Is my phone salvageable or should I just throw it away? I can't go to Samsung and ask them to repair it because I have flashed a custom rom on my phone. I am at a loss...

Look at ur micro usb port of ur phone as well as the micro usb cable that u r using to charge it and see if any of the contacts are messed up in either one and therefore causing it to not make good connection. Or there may be some dirt or something causing the connection between the cord and ur phone to not be good also.
Also u could try a different cord or car charger...

Going by your Name,I guess you belong to some part in Asia( India or Pakistan -Most probably), just like me.
Just go to any Mobile repair shop nearby and give them your battery and ask them to give it a "BOOST" it wont cost u more than few bucks(10-20 INR/PKR) and 10 min's.
Now insert in your phone and that should work.

The fact you were able to customize your phone rules out the fact that you are "JUST BAD WITH PHONES" i have been doing this for months. There come times when I get a phone that just doesn't respond the way it is supposed to. I have two i777 that I am really struggling with right now. One of the previous posters suggested flashing back to stock. I understand you CAN'T get to download mode, that suggests to me that you require "JTAG" repair. I have seen that available for around $35.00. that's not bad. Search EBAY and google and maybe even here.

GS3 I9300 Battery/Charging/USB Connectivity Issues

Hi Guys,
I have, from what I have seen, a pretty unique issue.
I recently purchased an s3 19300 brand new from a reputable online seller. However, after about a month of use some battery and charging issues popped up.
It is currently running 4.1.2.
First, my phone will often say that the battery is at 100% when it obviously is not. This will stop it from charging when it is plugged in. The green LED is on whenever the phone is off. This would only be a minor annoyance if it weren't for the other issues
Second, Often the phone just won't charge. I have tried multiple chargers, on multiple power sources, with multiple compatable batteries. Nothing fixes this issue. No red light, no errors, nothing. It sits as though nothing is plugged into it.
Traditionally a factory reset has fixed these issues, albeit temporarily. This tells me there's a software issue. I have tried not installing any applications, but the problem always comes back.
I am pretty baffled. Nearly 4 years of flawless Captivate performance hasn't prepared me for this.
Thanks for any help you can provide. If you need ANY more information, please ask.
Have you tried charging it with the phone off

Thanks for the reply.
I definitely have tried to charge it with the phone off, with the phone on, connected by USB, with multiple cables... Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
There really isn't a defined pattern with the issue. If there were, I'd probably be able to figure it out.
Return phone to seller for warranty repair .
