Telus Fascinate 4g nice root? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, this its my first post in the XDA forums yey!!! And the question of the day from me is, is there a clean nice way to root the telus fascinate 4g??? I saw the other posts on it and some soft bricking was happening, not to nice. I tried super one click and it hung on the 6 th step. If anyone can help out or direct me in the right direction that would be great!!

Sorry, not at this moment.
There isn't a quick way to root 2.3.4 Gingerbread phones in general, and the T959P is more of a niche model.

I am in the exact same boat as you Greatcdn. I do not want to overclock my phone nothing like that I just want to be able to remove some files I cannot remove without having root on my phone.

Hey thanks for the reply! Hmm yeah this kinds sucks, I like
GB but it would be great rooted!!! Maybe a clean method will come or soon enough.

Is there anyway to downgrade the firmware???
I just got the 4G as a gift and I'd like to try to root it.
I'm guessing the rooting methods are different from the original fascinate?
Thanks,
newbie

Good lord, can't you do any searching? You've been around this site long enough to know how to look. This forum isn't even big, so go look.
Not too bright dude, this phone does not have s-off yet, reading is your friend.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab 10.1
S-off isn't available at the moment. there are some temp root methods available, but I would recommend waiting until S-off is achieved. Well at least that is what I am gonna do(when I get it next week). I waited a month for the rooting method for my Epic.

ok i know that there are two ways to temp root but which one is the better of the two..............................
Neither of them are permanent. CleanTOOL removes bloat for you.

It all depends on what you want the temp root for. If you want to lose some bloat use cleantool, for everything else, I'd use the other methods.

Really noob apparently. Jeeze I remember when I was wet behind the ears but even then I read more than I typed. Still do.

Use cleantool as it removes bloat and it stays off.

Best Root method

Find my guide in the general section and look up section5
You do not need to root to install Miui.
There are reasons to root a stock rom, but there seems to be a general misconception on why you root, and when to root.

This!!! I missed the miui part....yea no need to root if your flashing a custom rom!!!
I think a lot of people are used to other phones like HTC and Motorola where you have to be rooted to flash roms. I thought it was weird too when I first got the fascinate coming from those other brands. I like that Samsung leaves the security essentially wide open on their devices.
Yeah I have a evo 3d running miui and my buddy wants it. What's the way you guys recommend

lol wow i had no idea that you did not have to be rooted, like the above guy said im a HTC guy and its just the way im used to doing things.
My buddy is jumping up and down right now like a little douche nozzle.
If he still wants to root, SuperOneClick is the easiest. Just make sure usb debugging is on.
Just Odin cwm4 fixed for cm7. Then flash miui in cwm. Su is preinstalled on miui.

[Q] New to Samsung

I just gave up my EVO which I was a pro at rooting. I am totally lost with the GS2. Is there something similar to unrevoked.com ? Who are the more popular GS2 developers? I was a Fan of Virus Roms, MikG, and Energy Roms. Thanks in advance for your help.

Rooting the SGS2 is really easy, all you need todo is flash a kernel.
Recovery and the kernel are fused together, whenever you flash a kernel you are flashing recovery, so to get CWM you need a kernel with CWM.
No such thing as S-off (unlocked bootloaders woo!)
A good guide to everything, clickme
The modem is almost unbrickable (people have recovered form flashing a i9000 modem by just flashing a new modem)
You never need to put a .pit into odin or repartition.
The current ICS leaks are unstable and not really daily drivers.
Stock roms download links plus howto
Carrier branded firmware
Easiest way to root
As far as popular roms, poke around the original android section, pretty much all the roms in there are good.
My personal favs are in my sig
Thanks, a lot to take in. Ill read up.

So if I want to set up my phone like yours with the Hyperdroid...... is there an easy way to do it? I managed to root the phone, as I now have superuser on it. Not sure what I need, or dont need. I really would like the battery to display % like my evo did instead of the green battery.
Thanks again for helping a newbe out. Im sure I will love this phone..... Allready got 14MBPS download on 4g WOW
one more Thing, I have the Tmobile GS2. Will the hyperdroid work with this????
If I have a,rooted GS2, should I not upgrade software that Tmobile pushes to the phone?

T Mobile USA SGS2 or Tmobile UK or other country? From your sig it seems you have the USA one.
If its the USA version, you are in the wrong forum. You need to go here
As all the software in here will not run on it

Stock android

I love my photon with a passion except for the bloat ware. I want the stock android launcher on my phone. I hate the moto crap. I want to run everything straight google on my device with out rooting. But if their is a 100% vanilla rom out there that be nice too.
U could compile one for it?

This can only be done with root. But honestly rooting takes 5 minutes and can be reversed so there is no reason not to. Universal deblur, compliments of lokifish.

Not possible, if you are on the latest OTA update. And you'd loose 4G if it was possible

He's right. That is an unlocked rom, and you can't unlock if you have taken the 2.3.5 update.

damn it okay thank you for the info. Im just stuck waiting for sprints ICS. -_-

Rooting s2 question.

Well let me start by saying I have rooted phones before, so I know a decent amount of the processes. But it's been a while.
My question is, is there currently a one click root method for an sgs2 on sprint running ics 4.0.4? A friend of mine just got one and he wants me to root it for him like I did his evo a while back.
