Titanium backup problem - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an att sgs2 rooted with stock ROM. I installed titanium backup and started to remove bloatware and accidentally uninstalled the stock clock. I had made a backup before uninstalling. I reset the phone and tried to restore the app +data, after 1 hour it was still trying to restore, I forced closed TB, tried to restore app only, let it run overnight, woke up and still trying to restore, I forced closed again, reset phone, downloaded stock apk, installed with confirmation, app was missing from app drawer, reset phone still missing, uninstalled backup, tried to install apk, install failed, removed orphan data, install failed, reset phone, install failed. Now instead of Clock 1.0, it says com.sec.Android.app.clockpackage with a line through it and it won't go away. I just want to install the stock clock app, what do I need to do?

Sorry, I thought app problems went in the app forum... A moderator can move this thread if needed.

In TB preferences, under troubleshooting settings, try changing App processing mode to AUTO Indirect.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk

I tried that, however com.sec.Android.app.clockpackage keeps coming back.

I have been doing a lot of research and now i have the clockpackage apk and obex in system/app... however it is not installing because TB won't let it, "clock 1.0" now shows up in TB along with "com.sec.Android.app.clockpackage", both have lines through them stating they have been uninstalled... "clock 1.0" has the option to restore (it doesn't work)... I have tried many steps in to install the APK, but it isn't working, i think TB is preventing this from happening.
How do i get clock 1.0 removed from the uninstall list in TB??? Restore does not work and i have tried all three app processing modes.

I have the exact same problem
Might anyone solved this yet?
update: that thread might solve the problem!

What have I done?

I've flashed the task650 and phantom rom. Then installed titanium back up from the market and restored all of my apps. It then said that the android launch error has stopped or something.
What have I done wrong and how can I fix it?
Did you also let TiBu restore all your settings as well? or JUST the apps? Did you restore an app that was included in the ROM?
When switched ROM's you should only restore apps that are not on the device already. You also should be careful with all settings that you restore as well.
For me, I restore the missing apps, that I still want, with data along with accounts, BT pairings, and WiFi settings. That's it.

Oh, and to fix it, I would just hard reset your device, verify that all is running as it should, and then begin installing your apps again.
This is what I think the sequence of what I have done is.
-Obviously rooted my tablet.
-Backed it up with Rom manager and copy and pasted the back up to my PC as well as the back ups of the apps and settings from titanium.
-Downloaded and transferred the task650 and phantom rom to my tablet.
-Flashed it and deleting the cache and dalvik etc in the process.
-Followed the process of not selecting google during the factory reset and changed my wifi settings and synced google once the flash had finished.
-I then went to the market place and reinstalled titanium from their and restored the apps and data.
-It was at that point when I could not get back onto the android desktop (if thats what its called.)
Now when I click the power button I can unlock it and it brings up this box:
Sorry! The application Launcher (process.com.android.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force close or report.
If I hold the power button I see a recovery option with rom manager icon and a download option.
So to answer your question I did let TiBu restore setting as well because I am a total noob. I more than likely did restore an app that was in the rom.
I can't really see if all is running as it should because if I force close the error message it just goes blank and brings the error back up.
I haven't bricked it have I? I hope to god this is fixable.
You are not bricked. I would just follow the steps again on the Task650 and Phantom thread to re-flash the ROM, and just start over. Once you have re-flashed, then reinstall TiBu and then begin restoring only the missing apps with their corresponding data. DO NOT RESTORE any settings or any apps that are already in the ROM unless you know specifically that they are safe to restore (MOST ARE NOT).

Thanks for your help I'm back on ok after a hard reset. I think its back to the way it was before I restored apps and data off tibu.
Im already on the task and phantom rom after the reset so do I need to still reflash the rom?
I'm not really bothered about reinstalling apps, but is their any I should restore?
Would downloading an app from the market I had on the previous rom cause problems?
No, you do not need to re-flash if the hard rest took care of your problem.
The only apps to NOT restore are the ones that are already on the ROM, as that may cause a conflict. Apps that you have downloaded from the market in the past, and that are not currently in the ROM should be ok to restore with TiBu.
Again thanks you have been very helpful.

Correct. To be safe don't restore any system settings or system apps. these show green in titanium. This error if from restoring sudden data on launcher. Task snuff phantoms tom uses a different launcher from stock touchwiz.

Thanks.
I've just left it as it was to be safe, was not to bothered about my apps or settings anyway I'm happy to start over.
So to avoid anything going wrong in the future, do I not update my tablet?

[Q] Weird error

I'm getting a really weird error and I can't figure out how to fix it.
----------------------------------------
The application Google Search (process com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
----------------------------------------
Anyone have any ideas?
sounds like you either had a bad flash, or you restored system data with titanium backup.
back up the stuff you need, go into cwm recovery, and do a wipe data/factory reset. you will have to set everything up again, but this should take care of your force closes.
if you continue to get force closes, then try to re-flash the ROM you are on (after wiping data/factory resetting).
Is there any way to fix this without re-flashing? I spent a ton of time tweaking everything to get what I wanted and would have to re-do everything.
you could try settings > applications > manage applications > all > google search > clear data
i'm far from 100% positive that google search is the process that is force closing... and even if that is the correct process, i'm not sure that this will permanently solve your problem, but i think it is worth a shot. i think this will clear all of the data from your google search widget, which i assume is what you are trying to use when you get the error.
let me know if it works!
Thanks for the suggestion. I gave it a try, but still no luck. Any other ideas?
When are you getting the error, are you using the Google search widget?
Did you try backing up and wiping cache/factory reset as other user suggested? When restoring with TuBu restore MISSING apps only.
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
I only get the error when I try using the Google Search function - either with a homescreen widget, or by pressing the hardware search key on the device.
So, what you're suggesting is that I back up my current rom/settings using Titanium Backup, wipe cache / factory reset with CWM, then restore the backup using Titanium, but for missing apps?
That would give me my current setup, but with any missing system apps?
Fix Permissions and wipe cache/dalvik (both in CWM) - if those fail, time to wipe data and restore your apps in TiBu.
Thanks for your suggestion, Entropy. I reset permissions and wiped both caches, but still have the same issue.
I think what is causing this is that I deleted the system app "ApplicationsProvider.apk", which appears to be related to the Google Search app. I previously tried to restore the file manually using Root Explorer and my original backup and I don't think it fully restored.
Could I use Titanium to restore this file if I've never made a backup with Titanium?
If you never backed it up, then you can't restore it. You could do a google search for the .apk, or else you can see if someone on these forums will pull theirs off of their phone and upload it for you. But you're really better off wiping and starting over at this point.
I have that apk from my original CWM backup before I loaded Cyanogen. I tried to restore using Root Explorer, but it doesn't seem like it "took".
It shows up in my system applications area in SystemApp Remover. But, when I try to delete it again using the program I get an error: "Application not found. The application was not found in the list of installed applications."
Any ideas?

I need help [solved]

Hey guys, I have a problem, and I think it's my fault. After flashing the official 4.1.2 sammy rom on my father's phone (rooted), I froze some bloatware from samsung (like days, samsung apps, all those clocks etc), then I deleted the Titanium Backup folder, because he was running low on space, and I thought that I won't need backups soon, as I wasn't planning to flash anything. Now I can't install any app from the playstore (error -101), or apks (application not installed message), and I can't find the titanium backup app. If I search in google now it appears there, but greyed out and without an icon. Now I think that I have probably frozen something that I shouldn't have, and deleting the Titanium Backup folder messed it all up.
Can I do anything except factory resetting the phone? It would be a shame to lose all apps data...
EDIT: I forgot to mention that i had previously deleted the titanium backup folder on my s2, but nothing went wrong. But then again, I'm not sure i had any frozen apps at that time
EDIT2: Also, when I go to settings -> application manager no app shows it's size. All apps say 0.00B. Also, when I go to storage, it shows the free space, but it keeps saying "calculating" on any other thing.
EDIT3: SOLVED! Everything, actually. In settings -> application manager i pressed the physical menu button and clicked on "reset app preferences". That restored all the disabled apps, the possibility to install apps, and my dignity for not being a complet moron, after all. Hope this helps other people that do the same mistake as me (probably the problem had nothing to do with the folder)
I am stuck with exactly the same thing.
Storage just says calculating
All apps 0.00B
Reset app preferences did nothing for me, clicked on the 3 vertical dots, selected it and still have issues.
Tried to factory reset, the device still says calculating all apps 0.00B. I can not install or update any app.

[Q] All apps crash after installing rom update

Hey guys, I have the ViperX+ 2.0.1 rom, but my problem is not really about the rom itself.
A week ago the ota update got released, so I made a backup and installed t, but as I already expected it there was
the same problem I had before: After loading and adjusting all apps it loads my wallpaper, but after that all apps crash,
so I have to turn the phone off by pressing the power button. This is caused by the app LuckyPatcher. In LuckyPatcher
there's a feature which installs a modded playstore, when I installed it for the first time restarted the device but after booting
all apps kept crashing, so I had to restore a backup, then I changed the modded playstore version and it worked fine.
Now back to the ota update problem: I installed the original play store with luckypatcher and removed the app,
then I installed the update and all apps crashed again, so removing luckypatcher doesn't help anymore
(restored the data via backup again). Have you guys any idea how to fix this, cause my latest backup is a few months old..
Or should I just backup my data and do a full wipe? If yes what should I backup in TWRP (only data or boot too,
cause I don't know which of them contains the broken files), or use something like Titanium Backup. I don't mind if I have to set
all the options and tweaks manually again, I just want to keep my files (music, pics, apps, etc.),
so which way would you recommend me? Thanks in advance

You should wipe / factory reset before you install any ROM. These apps you're loading, how are you loading it ? Through backup or play store ? Is it system apps or downloaded apps ?

By loading apps I mean the usual process after booting the phone, it says ''Android wird aktualisiert'' (Android gets updated).
*edit: I guess fixing the problem would be much more complicated than performing a full wipe, so which way to backup my data (as written in the main post) would you recommend me?

Do a factory reset from TWRP. You will lose your text messages and apps ect. If you don't want to go through the process of re-downloading your apps, you can use titanium backup and backup apps but not app data (not recommended). Flashing roms without doing a wipe/factory reset = hot mess. Unless otherwise said no wipe needed.
Edit just keep check of the Rom discussion to see if anyone has the same problem. Try wiping then install 2.01 make a complete boot then install ota

[help]Sony's EMail app disappeared

Hi all...
Since this morning my eMail app (Sony's one) was acting strange. when trying to launch it, I had a message saying the app stopped working. then the app started on the screen for creating an account... like if it was brand new...
After two reboots, the app finally disappeared from the drawer, Titanium backup say it is uninstalled, while application app in settings say it is installed. but from the settings app it is impossible to uninstall or deactivate... it says unable to uninstall.
I tried to reinstall the app from the apk in system, but it says installation failed....
So I cannot recover it, cannot use my backup in TB, cannot uninstall... I had to install aquamail to have my mails...
What can I do to recover Sony's app ( apart from reflash the stock ROM)?
BTW, I'm on .402 stock rooted.
Thanks for your replys
You possibly messed with TB and a system app (probably Email). That can be a cause. This is especially likely if you have enabled Email as a Device Administrator.
You should reflash your FTF (or restore a backup - not TB Backup obviously). Just select not to wipe data in Flashtool.
Don't mess with TB system backups unless you need to.
Thanks, but I don't see what I've done to end up like this. Yesterday evening it was working like a charm, this morning it acts weird, and suddenly nothing...
I haven't changed any parameters or played with TB during this period...
It was only a guess on my part.
Anyway, just flash the FTF with no data wipe selected.
