Panic much? There's actually a thread here on xda that links a flash tool from HTC to remove root/etc. I'll see if I can find it, but you should search as well.
You'll find how to return to stock if you search these forums...
It will be easier to help you if you would explain exactly what you did up until you lost the ability to use your touchscreen.

Make sure you've installed the Android SDK USB drivers as well.

Easy. Boot into fastboot, then flash the shipping software from winxp. Have the HTC sync drivers installed, but htc sync stopped. It works.

I have an HTC Aria (well, wifey does) whose screen randomly quits working. I think it may have to do with the battery, as troubleshooting suggests that possibility, and a totally full charge seems to help (where-as it may not work at 80%). Anyway, doing what I can to mitigate it while I get a replacement unit. Although it is under manufacturer warranty, I'm scared to send it in to them, as you get charged so much if they find it to have violated warranty in any way (e.g. water damage or something). Almost cheaper just to buy a used one on eBay.
Send me your email and I can send you the stock 2.1 recover that breaks the root. Its what I used to return my first aria. Just make sure to backup all your data on your computer. Change the SD card also or back it up on your computer and delete everything on it if your sending it to HTC. I must warn though your replacement might contain the new hboot which their is no root for as of know.
P.S. my touchscreen failed because of the phones high temperatures mainly in the 105-110° F.
Signatures are fancy.
This phone has never been rooted, so no worries in my case. The OP may be different, I kind of jumped in here. I fear instead one particular water sticker, that, while white, is slightly torn (somehow). So... I mean, its like rolling dice.

pLs help me .. i have same problem with my HTC ARIA ..!!
how ur HTC started wOrking ?
When i bought my evo 3d I could choose between it or the samsung galaxy s ii, I chose the evo 3d because it looked like it was going to have the best dev support, but then my phone broke and i had to get a replacement that came with 1.50. now i have to choose between voiding my warranty or staying stock. I've been waiting for months but were still screwed. Did we choose a phone that was truly a gimmick and all the devs have moved on? Or did HTC win and develop an un-hackable hboot with 1.50?
Most devs haven't wasted time with it recently because ICS and other things like CIQ
I have 2 dead pixels and decided not to test my luck with a refurbished device..
Most people that have 1.5hboot took the HTC method.. and seem pretty happy. But there are a few that feel the warranty void is to big of a risk...
If you waited this long is wait for ICS OTA as it most likley will come with a new hboot that someone will most likley crack (look at what happened with the EVO 4G GB update and how long it took to crack)
My best advice is if you are a flash fiend do the HTC method...
If your the few dozen that don't want to "void" your warranty then write HTC or some respected devs.... I seen there was a large bounty for a s-off 1.5 awhile ago... Go stir up that thread rather than making a new one...
Good luck!

Really???
Have you ever been to the Dev section??? There is more than enough action going on as far as development. The EVO 3D does have the best Dev's, but your issue is not the phone. You issue is you have 1.50. There are other alternatives you have to flash and get custom mods but you need to do the research. But don't be mistaken, the party is still jumping in the development section. Hell ICS is just in its alpha stage but its running just like a RC.
This is my 3rd evo. 1st had hboot 1.4 2nd had 1.5 and when it stopped charging they replaced it free. (I have the 8$ insurance plan) I dont see why people are so worried about voiding their warranty..?
I don't get it either. It only matters if your returning it for a software problem.

Easy way to get replacement after void warranty + software problem....
Remove battery....
Place in microwave for 3-5 seconds (just enough to zap the motherboard, not melt ****)
Put battery back in.. make sure it won't respond to any key combo.
Take it to sprint and say you pulled it off the charger and this is how it ended up...
Poof a phone will either be handed to you... Or one will be sent in the mail...

So let me get this straight. You mess up the phone and then engage in insurance fraud...and then promote it as well?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
really? i thought it voided the hardware warranty because once you mod it you can change the factory settings that are setup as failsafes... but if its just for software.. thats what xda is for. i do have a few dying pixles though so maybe i should go get it replaced then open up the new one....
I havent applied any updates or anything since i got the phone because i didnt want to start the waiting process over, but thats a good point, once ics gets released it will probably start a new wave of development bound on cracking the new hboot.

Taken from HTC DEV
You are about to start the process of unlocking your device. Unlocking your device allows you to install custom Operating Systems (“OS”) onto your device. Custom OS’s are not tested as thoroughly as your original OS, and unlocking your device may void all or parts of your warranty. HTC disclaims any and all liability for proper functioning of your device after the bootloader has been unlocked and for data lost in the unlocking process.(Meaning they are unable to help you trouble shoot your phone once you place a rom on it.) To prevent unauthorized access to your data, unlocking the bootloader will delete all personal data from your device including applications, text messages and personalized settings.

No where does it say your warranty WILL be 100% void. In my opinion this means
Code:
Warranty Void
- If you overclock your phone and your phone overheats to the point of processor damage
- Undervolting or overvolting causing damage
- Flashing an incompatible radio file causing brick
- Flashing a GSM ROM on your phone causing brick
Code:
Warranty still intact after using HTC UNLOCK method.
- Charging port errors (shorts, detaching, etc)
- Dead Pixels in screen
- Severe light leakage
Also I highly advise against doing the microwave method because that is fraud and you'll be up the creek when they ask you for the charger that resulted in the "severe electrical damage" to your device. Just be up front with the techs and tell them you used HTC DEV but you're having hardware issues (assuming you're actually having hardware issues.) This is my view on HTC's stance on the warranty issue, so take it as that - my personal opinion.
I'm still new to this regarding s-off and rooting but I have hboot 1.5 and used the HTC bootloader unlock method and I've had no trouble flashing roms. I don't see what the big deal for s-off is when we are still able to flash kernels and ROMS.
So a week or two ago i bought a phone off this forum from. HTC EVO 3D. I Got it it was in pretty good shape. But when i turned on the screen there was a cluster of little white spots on the screen lower half. It was only noticeable when in white screens or lighter colors. Well the first things that sucked what the phone was unlocked with HTC's lovely unlock method, Warranty Void right? Well i said screw it so i send it in, Monday i believe and they received it on Friday.
I used there Tracking service and had seen it barely when into repair today. I thought wow fast!. Well just about 20 minutes ago I received a email from HTC, STATING!!!! your phone repair has been complete and we are sending your phone back to you!!!!!!!!!!!! The replaced the whole bezel digitizer and LCD unit. Im completely blown away by there service.
I have searched everywhere about HTC repair service and everything i see is negative about 75% of the time. Im completely content with the service they have provided and looking forward to getting my phone back. Thank you HTC for fixing it. Now Lets hope they did a good job
Glad they turned it so quickly for you. I hope the new screen and digitizer work well.

On HTCDev it says "it might void your warranty". That means that it is possible to void your warranty. In other words: if you OC your CPU/GPU and you burn them, the warranty will be void. If there is an electronic or a manufacturing problem, then they will repair it for you.
I know but it still surprised me when it was fixed, i had asked previously if they would and multiple members stated that my warranty was void and not to take the risk.
I have the same white dots on my screen... I worry if i sent them my s-off 1.04 hboot it wouldnt come back the same. Probably just me and my trust issues, but im curious if anyone has sent an s off device in. I would be more than happy to go back to my OG Evo for a bit for a new screen.
I guess I would wait to pour praise until I had the phone back and can see what exactly was done.

I had my HBOOT 1.4 S-OFFed, but I just put it back to S-ON and flashed a stock 1.13.651.7 RUU before sending it in. HTC didn't say anything, and the repaired phone is currently with FedEx on its way back from HTC

So my HTC amaze died on me about 2 days ago I was listening to my music in my car connected through Bluetooth then a cop passed by and everything shut off haha coincidence haha anyway went home had no service like absolutely nothing thought nothing of it and went to sleep, next morning still nothing and ever since now its dead. Called HTC they said most likely its T-Mobile not the phone but they sent me a replacement back cover (which is cool) because the antennas are on the back anyway I know this isn't the problem because even without the back cover you can still get signal. So I took phone to T-Mobile put new sim tested and nothing so now I know its the phone not T-Mobile. Anyway my question is how can I prepare to send back to T-Mobile I have relocked phone put stock recovery and put leaked ics Rom. So is that bad that it sais relocked and bad if I'm using leaked ics rom I know its voids warrenty when it sais relocked but my software and phone everything works perfect its just the signal so will they fix it? And when I send in could I send phone with a eBay bought battery not HTC one so they could send me a new battery or should I send only HTC battery, phone, and back cover. And also is there any fix for this so I don't have to send in? Please help thanks
You can install official ruu and that will update and install your hboot to locked, which is what tells them if it's locked or relocked. If you don't know how to do this you need to read. Also I've been hearing that ever since s off became available they are considering as voiding warranty not sure if this has taken effect yet or if it matters but just to be sure if your s off read the section that tells you how to s on.
Now before you send have you tried toggling airplane mode on and off ? Still no signal? Flash the official ruu usually fixes these issues. If still no signal then I suggest you send it in.

It's still gonna say relocked, the only way he can get it back to "locked", is if he s-off's the device, once s-off is successful, it automatically puts it as locked all over again, he can leave it as lock, restore a stock ruu, then using, use the command: fastboot writesecureflag 3, that will s-on the device along with everything else being complete stock.
Hmm ya I know how to ruu wich I did but I ruu the ics leak and now everything's stock accept that it sais relocked and want to know if that's gonna be a problem for warrenty when I send it in? It shouldnt since its not software problem? And ya hear how to s off just don't want to try wire trick and all that. And yep tryed turning off and on airplane mode turning off radio taking T-Mobile to change sim cards have original stock Rom tryed *#*#4636#*#* all those tricks but nothing.

When you chose to unlock boatloader you voided your warranty. So by saying relocked it tells them you unlocked it. You need to do what dark nightmare says or you run the risk of not warranting your phone. Luckily for me I "lost" my phone so I couldn't send it in.

aw glacierguy thanks for the positive attitude! hope everything goes good for my phone!
So update for everyone i called HTC back and told them to cancel my back cover replacement for the Amaze because i know this is not the reason why i have no bars! because without that cover i still had bars and i know the amaze has some more antennas inside the device. Anyway i told them that i want to send the phone in for repairs so now everything set up and just have to send the phone on its way :crying: hope its a hardware issue and they can fix it. In the mean time got kinda intresting email from HTC saying
"After we receive the device, we will diagnose it and if there are any damages that fall outside of the limited warranty, we will contact you with a quotation to repair. If you choose not to repair, a service fee of up to $35 dollars will be charged and the device will be returned unrepaired."
Yes kinda scared me but hope i don't have to pay anything for this repair so everyone wish me luck and ill let you guys know how everything goes.
Sucks im probably not gonna have my phone for about a month
Just asking, but even if you managed to get the phone completely back to stock and say "Locked" isn't HTC able to tell if you've unlocked the bootloader via their unlock process on the website?
I was under the impression that the entire reason for the HTC unlock process (getting the key from the phone, etc) was so that they would have a database of phones that have had their bootloader unlocked? I'm kind of new to this but that was my impression.

I think they do have a database, yes, but that only tells them that you requested the file, they can't know you YOU used the file, can they? Huh? Nope, if they knew you used the file, that sir would be invasion of privacy, then they'd be paying for more than just a simple device replacement with the lawsuits that would be hitting them from every mobile device owner using their product.
So once it says "Locked", they can't say you voided your warranty, then they'd have to prove it.
Yes what darknightmare said you could get token but maybe last second decided not to do it haha anywho sending it saying relocked hope they fix hardware issue if not maybe gotta spend money?

They don't need a database. There is no way I know of to get a "locked" phone once it has been unlocked. It will say "relocked". So HTC knows it has had an unlocked bootloader. That doesn't necessarily negate the warranty so far as HTC is concerned. I've read that they have fixed what are obviously hardware problems. But they won't fix anything that a ROM screwed up unless you pay.
The wildcard is T-Mobile. They may or may not be picky about these sort of things.
Ya for sure lets see what htc sais shipped out today through ups htc should get it thursday hope ups loses or breaks my packagae have 300 dollar insurance ha but yep anyone know of any prices for this fix?

Sir, when I say there is a way to get a "locked" bootloader, please don't argue with me unless you can prove my theories wrong, , I have tested and proven everything I speak of, I don't just say something because I want to.
Edit: For the record, once it says "relocked" you have voided your warranty, if you read the agreement on HTC website when unlocking your bootloader and the message on the device when unlocking, it clearly states by unlocking your bootloader you are voiding your warranty.

100% on what Dark Nightmare said, i followed the procedure on the forums on how to completely restore to stock. i was s-off etc.. after it was all said and done, my phone was locked and ready to rock. I sent it back after my replacement arrived and all was good.
Just read through General, Q&A and Dev section, Trust me the answer is there. It's ALWAYS there. I used the GB juopunutbear S-off tool instead of the ICS tool cause i am retarded and didn't take my time and got stuck because of it. I did 2-3 minutes of using the search button and i was fixed in a second!

I think my post may not have been clear. Of course you can lock the bootloader; that is how one installs the original ROM. But I was under the impression that it then says ”relocked” if you have previously unlocked the device. That warning from HTC have me a lot of pause when I read it! But I think what I read said ”may” void your warranty. But I was reading fast...

Hi to all!
Today i got my motorola atrix ordered on ebay (refurbished by seller), so this is my first post... I turned on my phone and touch screen is not working at all :crying: ... this is really bad, i dont know what to do, please help me....
Return the phone and ask for refund. Open a dispute if necessary. That's what I would do.
Or, you can buy a new digitizer and try fixing it yourself. I would not recommend it.
That s really bad news... If I return the phone I will lose 2x shiping money (2x30$) and money that I payed customs (35$) I m not fault for that all after all.... Could it be software problem that could it be fixed before returning the phone? If they changed the touch and flash it probably... The phone is at&t unlocked...
I think you might get the first shipping reimbursed, but I'm not sure.
It seems very unlikely this is a software thing, but feel free to try another ROM. Not much to lose at this point, right?
Just return it if you mess around with ROMs the seller might use it to say you tampered with software, safest bet is to return

I flashed stock rom, but nothing happened... I think it s hardver failure, probably touch...
How about pdsfix? Could this help?
Seller probably replaced digitizer and it went bad.

I decided to return it, they will send me another one... I think that is a best solution of this problem...
Try to work out so that they pay for shipping this time, since it was not your fault the device is malfunctioning.
While we are on the topic of replaced digitizers. Are the replaced ones also made out of Gorilla glass? Was wondering if there's a way of testing if it is Gorilla glass without damaging the screen. Any ideas how?
