Hi to all!
Today i got my motorola atrix ordered on ebay (refurbished by seller), so this is my first post... I turned on my phone and touch screen is not working at all :crying: ... this is really bad, i dont know what to do, please help me....
Return the phone and ask for refund. Open a dispute if necessary. That's what I would do.
Or, you can buy a new digitizer and try fixing it yourself. I would not recommend it.
That s really bad news... If I return the phone I will lose 2x shiping money (2x30$) and money that I payed customs (35$) I m not fault for that all after all.... Could it be software problem that could it be fixed before returning the phone? If they changed the touch and flash it probably... The phone is at&t unlocked...
I think you might get the first shipping reimbursed, but I'm not sure.
It seems very unlikely this is a software thing, but feel free to try another ROM. Not much to lose at this point, right?
Just return it if you mess around with ROMs the seller might use it to say you tampered with software, safest bet is to return

I flashed stock rom, but nothing happened... I think it s hardver failure, probably touch...
How about pdsfix? Could this help?
Seller probably replaced digitizer and it went bad.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
I decided to return it, they will send me another one... I think that is a best solution of this problem...
Try to work out so that they pay for shipping this time, since it was not your fault the device is malfunctioning.
While we are on the topic of replaced digitizers. Are the replaced ones also made out of Gorilla glass? Was wondering if there's a way of testing if it is Gorilla glass without damaging the screen. Any ideas how?

Panic much? There's actually a thread here on xda that links a flash tool from HTC to remove root/etc. I'll see if I can find it, but you should search as well.
You'll find how to return to stock if you search these forums...
It will be easier to help you if you would explain exactly what you did up until you lost the ability to use your touchscreen.

Easy. Boot into fastboot, then flash the shipping software from winxp. Have the HTC sync drivers installed, but htc sync stopped. It works.

I have an HTC Aria (well, wifey does) whose screen randomly quits working. I think it may have to do with the battery, as troubleshooting suggests that possibility, and a totally full charge seems to help (where-as it may not work at 80%). Anyway, doing what I can to mitigate it while I get a replacement unit. Although it is under manufacturer warranty, I'm scared to send it in to them, as you get charged so much if they find it to have violated warranty in any way (e.g. water damage or something). Almost cheaper just to buy a used one on eBay.
Send me your email and I can send you the stock 2.1 recover that breaks the root. Its what I used to return my first aria. Just make sure to backup all your data on your computer. Change the SD card also or back it up on your computer and delete everything on it if your sending it to HTC. I must warn though your replacement might contain the new hboot which their is no root for as of know.
P.S. my touchscreen failed because of the phones high temperatures mainly in the 105-110° F.
Signatures are fancy.
This phone has never been rooted, so no worries in my case. The OP may be different, I kind of jumped in here. I fear instead one particular water sticker, that, while white, is slightly torn (somehow). So... I mean, its like rolling dice.

pLs help me .. i have same problem with my HTC ARIA ..!!
how ur HTC started wOrking ?
i posted this in another thread, but its already on page 2 of that forum so id rather get my answer here.
Specs
-i have a vibrant for tmobile.
-rooted.
-phone has to be 2 months old, hardly used. still had stickers on camera.
my questions
-if i use the unroot technique posted earlier, will i have any problems with tmobile and unroot? show any signs?
-does any one have tmobile thats done an exchange under warranty with a rooted/unrooted vibrant??
-i have a dent on the chrome frame around the screen, nothing else...will this effect the warranty?
that dent pissed me off, ive been USING the phone for like 5 days? i havent been on this forum long.
so i wanna use a warranty exchange, say my mms or something is acting silly, and get a new one.
let me know.
Bizumppppp
Bizumppppppppppppppp
lack of response probably is due to having not a F'ing clue what you are asking.
whats wrong with your phone?
why can't you unroot it? Use OCLF in the market if you are having issues.
why would use of the phone (dent) hender warranty for a valid claim... assuming you have one?
If I unroot it, will tmobile accept it and not be voided???
Im asking because my dent is pissing me off and I wanna send it in to tomobile w a lame excuse that my mms is messed up
In one sentence, if I unroot my vibrant, will tmobile void my warranty?
So you dented your phone and are going to report a fake issue in order to get a phone without the dent you put there.
Okay....
Perhaps you should have a real issue so when they get your phone they dont charge you for the one they sent you.
PS, I am not going to help you fraud samsung/tmobile, maybe others will.
Buy a phone case. That should fix it.
If you are going to scam them, then nobody here can change your mind. Same goes for people who brick their phone, and do a warranty exchange. In the long run, it hurts everyone, causes prices to go up, and causes more stringent return policies.
If you go through with your scam, why don't you spend 16 bucks on a t-mobile silicon case for the replacement vibrant, so next time you don't dent your phone.
bye
ps... to answer your question, I think using ODIN with the 512 pit and tar should get you back to stock. Not sure though if they can tell you rooted before, ask someone else.
Would using odin put him back to stock, or would they still know he rooted before?
Unrooting your phone will keep your warranty intact, but that dent (depending how big it is) is not covered with warranty because its physical damage. When they receive your phone they inspect it and you can get charged an out of warranty fee which is near $250-300ish for a vibrant. T-Mobile will not let you dispute this charge either because all the phones are individually inspected.
Also, claiming an issue with the mms is not the best reason for a warranty exchange because mms issues are network related 9 times out of 10.

Whatsoever wrong w having a new phone w a dent on it, and just trying to get it replaced???
When I had a blackberry. I told tmobile some issues I had w the phone and thhey had no problem sending me a refurbished phone.
Now, when I try and do the same w the vibrant, im wrong????
Come on now, if u guys dont take advantage of that luxaryy, ESPECIALLY a 500$$ piece of equipment, then ima say ur wrong

No thank you.

I would say that returning a phone that works fine because of a dent is wasteful. Buy a case from amazon for a couple of bucks and it'll cover the dent just fine. And if dents and scratches are going to bother you that much then take better care of it.

Sounds like you dented it and want another. Ok Capt. Entitlement.
How about treating your things better or taking some responsibility when you don't. I'm well aware it's a $500 piece of equipment and I treat it as such.

Root/unroot to exchange phone with tmobile
Just do it and see what happens. Let us know. I had a problem with a phone that the USB plugged in kept intermittently come on. Not good called TMobile has a new phone in three days. But i had a legitimation problem not a scratch or bump.. I don't think TMobile will exchange. Unroot phone then go in sd and delete update or anything that shows Young tried to put a rom on phone. Mer I'de get a cover.
i got my casemate case.
but the day i ordered it, is the day i dented it.
OF COURSE ima get pissed.
like i said, i did it like 5 times with a blackberry curve. not once did they hassle me.
so i dont see why it would be a problem with a phone thats less than a year old.
Hi, I need urgent help!!
I have buy a new Xperia Neo (for about 300 euro) , the phone perfectly works, but wen I try to update it with Pc companion and SEUS, it says me that the phone have a modified SW.
I'm sure I haven't do nothing like flash, root,..
I go to the shop were I buy it and they send my phone at the Sony assistence.
The assistance find a problem: that the software was bad modified, and says me that for repair it I have to change the all motherboard, because it's damaged and they can't repair it.
But they want 180 euro, the shop says me after a looooong talk that they haven't do nothing at the phone and maybe is a virus, and can help me paying an half,so i have to pay "only" 90 euro.
The question is it's possible damage the motherbord with a SW or a virus??
And what I have to do??
Pay 90 euro also if I haven't damaged it or use the phone like it is(it says me that is damaged and don't know for how much time it works)??
Thanks for help!!
Well looks like someone used that phone before, and looks like unlocked bootloader via official way(hence PC Companion or SEUS wont work), I can't think of another reason.
I wouldn't pay anything. I heard stories that people bought "brand new" phone from store, which have images on it from vacations..
Not sure how you will prove that you didn't do it.
They (Sony Ericsson) should have your IMEI, mail, name if someone unlocked BL official way: http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions
If they say that you unlocked BL tell them to prove you, to show you info from above.
If they can't prove you, demand free fix, as you bought it new.
If they show you that, ether accept that device and go back here on XDA to relock your BL and use SEUS or PC Companion. Or ask/talk to shop to get you new device, which I doubt they will do As you can't prove that you didn't unlocked it.
few software modifications can do damage to the hardware in rare cases like extreme overclocking , extreme overvolting ....
first check if your phone is bootloader locked or not , try using flashtool software (of XDA) to flash latest firmware of your device & see if it changes anything ...
Before sending the phone to assistance I controlled and the bootloader was Unlooked,
but today the shop call me and they say that the assistance have tryied the phone and don't know the date of unlooking, and it's not for the official way.
After I tell that I'm sure, I'haven't do nothing.. they tell me that probably I have a virus, but have a virus apears to me a very very difficult probability, also for the use I have done with the phone. And I don't know if a virus can unlook the bootloader.
The problem is that I don't know how to prove the unlooking was before.

Yes.. but I think it's hard my phone is damaged for this reasons, I don't know..
It's possible that the motherboard is ok, but the assistance doesn't wont repair it and says me I have to change it??
The phone is unlooked I've seen it before sending to assistance, I haven't the phone now to try, it's in assistance, I have to decide if pay half for a reparacion (90 euro instead 180) or not..
If phone was just bought, just demand for a new unit. Maybe someone bought it from the store, unlocked it, then sent it back. When I got my neo new, my son stepped on it so LCD was busted. I had to return it aftr only 10 days of use. At first they refused to replace it but after some discussions, they did.
And honestly... Thats the first time I heard of a virus destroying a hardware -instantly I mean... But im no tech guru so how do I know.

Urban legend, software does not kill hardware instantly, it can shorten the life by straining it using it in a way it wasn't designed for but cannot cause instant death. Most of these myths come from old propriety software users, where a virus has damaged a driver or key library then the hardware stops working, stoopid then takes hardware to practitioner of dark arts (monkey who knows a little) who when asked states problem was a virus, stoopid then thinks virus broke hardware, monkey doesn't explain to perpetuate the myth that he can do magic, so that stoopid takes back to monkey when it next breaks.

Your phone is a used one probably,if pc companion says it got modified fw(due to bootloader being unlocked on official method I guess) and you haven't done anything to it big chance its earlier used one.Demand a new unit from the shop.
>>The question is it's possible damage the motherbord with a SW or a virus??
very rare, but sometimesyes I guess.I remember reading in Neo forums about some battery sensor getting killed when updating android to 2.2 to 2.3.4
Wasn't that downgrading, not upgrading. More a case of missing drivers than physical damage, the battery still worked....

Yup, it is when downgrading. From 2.3.4 to 2.3.2. And it was for all Xperias2011, which started before 2.3.4.
Yup battery still working, but phone is not detecting juice from it
Still, until today noone(of course appart SE guys) knows what exactly killed it. And they(SE) replace entire mbo when you give them phone with that problem.

@pioloo: did you bought that phone in some locale phone store, or at some tele operator shop?
Anw, we can all guess now and tell you what we would do. It's up to you. If you are 100% sure you didn't do anything to it, demand new phone, or repairing on THEIR cost, or money return. Don't know how are laws in your country.

I bought it in a big chain fisical shop, in Italy.
Yes, I'm sure I haven't do nothing, and a virus, in the few days i had it, appears to me very very difficult.
But the problem is that I have no proof..
The shop tolds me that the motherboard is broken, and it's possible that a virus can have canged some registers...
But I can't understand how a virus can broke a moderboard like this... How it's possible????
Also because the phone works perfectly when I send in assistance!
And why, with a flashing you can't have the originals registers??

You just answered your question.
Flashing new fw can restore old registry...unless you have unlocked bootloader. Search the forums here how to repair damaged bootloader. Maybe it can fix your problem.
Honestly, I have no faith in the skills of SE repair techs. The fact that they could not tell if my phone was previously rooted when I sent it for.repairs was proof enough for me.

After a looong looong talk with the shop finally I solved it!
They said, they change me the all motherboard of the phone for free!
But I had to insist a lot that I don't wanna pay ANYTHING! The offers me to pay only an half, after only 50 euros. But I refuse all! Because I know what I have done with the phone and a virus appears to me something almost impossible, knowning how a virus can work and how I used the phone!
I said I don't wanna pay if they don't have any proof the phone was modified after my buying date, and I asked to have the phone back as it was.
After this calls they call me and say me they pay for the reparation!
I bought it new with the receipt! In Italy in a big shop chain.
It was the last model in the shop and it was not sealed because they said me it was in exposition, but no one used it, and when I open it there was the full battery and the first android configuration, so I belive it and I buy it however.
A suspicion that someone had modified the software I would never have thought.
I don't know if this had happened to someone else who believed in the history of the virus or did not want to waste time discussing would pay a lot of money by no means.
Yes, also my think is the assistance don't want to loose time repairing it, they prefer change the all motherboard in this cases, and say it's impossible to repair.
Thanks to all for the precious help!!
Hey,
If you bought it with unlocked bootloader why dont you try to flash Stock rom via CWM ?
Jozinek created an Update zip of stock rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518151
So basically you could try to flash a Kernel with CWM and then flash via CWM stock rom.

Yes, I thougth about flashing, but before trying everything I tried to have the phone perfectly new, that I paid for!
Because I don't know how was used from who flashed it, and also I don't wanna pay a modified phone like a new one..
Fortunely I solved it! And now I think I wanna save the guarantee at least to the exit of ICS and usefull mods for ICS!

I'm thinking of sending mine into Samsung to have the glass replaced (my friend cracked it and I don't have a warranty), and I'm not entirely sure how they would react to having custom stuff on there, so is it possible to remove CWM at all? I don't think they'll do anything, but just to be safe.

Lol if you already don't have the warranty then they aren't going to say anything about having all that custom stuff on it. When you root and add custom roms to your device it voids the warranty so since your is already gone they won't say anything. Plus it isn't illegal.
If you root, then you void warranty. If they did see your CWM stuff, then you voided warranty and they prob won't fix it.
Obscured is correct. You have nothing to worry about because your NOT claiming warranty. You'll be paying for the service, and it is a hardware issue not software. Samsung police will not be busting down your door after they receive it. If it were me I'd ask them to not restore it back to stock (which they have a tendency to do with screen replacements) and to just fix it. Remember, they are working for you now, not the other way around.
Sent from my YP-G70 using xda premium
You could just flash stock or a nandroid backup (if you have made one). You can just delete cwm by deleting the cmw folder in the root directory, then unroot using SuperOneClick.
Alright, good to know. I just wasn't sure if Samsung has a habit of nitpicking about things like this even without a warranty. Now to decide if it's worth paying $100 for the repair...

In my opinion, paying $100 for a repair on device with such a poor value is not worth it. I mean, it is almost unfathomable that a device selling for approx. $400 a year ago can't even fetch half its value at retail now. And now, worse yet, Samsung doesn't even give a rat's behind about the Galaxy Players anymore. They won't even give ICS on our devices the light of day, even though we Android faithful bought one of their Galaxy Players over an iPod Touch. Isn't Samsung trying to compete with Apple for market share in multiple areas? Who's going to invest in a future Galaxy Player with the fear of spending hundreds of dollars only to realize a measly year later that they're not getting an upgrade?
Have any of you guys made a claim with Assurant? What has been your experience? I googled them and it seems that they have a really bad reputation for sending damaged devices. I cracked my screen and digitizer and I'm thinking about whether or not I should file a claim or repair it myself.
I lost my phone, had it replaced in a few days. So I was happy about that. But I think they sent me a faulty phone, since I've seen this one reboot twice on me already. Also my original one didn't have any issues. None.

They generally send you a refurbished device, unless your old device was lost, then you'll probably get a brand new device.
