[Q] Removing numbers on Android keyboard first row - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all!
When I installed the Cyanogenmod 7.1 on my SGS2 yesterday (YAY!!!!) I had, at some point, removed the numbers on the top row of my keyboard. I don't remember playing with any settings, it seemed to come stock with the mod. I had to reinstall a few times and wipe clean everything and now that my phone is fully functionnal under Cyanogen, I'm unable to redo that.
So, does anyone know how to change the keyboard settings so that when I hold the E letter, the first thing that pops up is not a friggin 3?
So far I tried changing the keyboard input langage to French (Canada) and the interface langage as well to French (Canada) but to no avail

Keyboard gone

Hi you all,
I recently installed the MMS 1.6.0.12 version on my XDAII which was equipped with 1.6.0.8.
Everything worked just fine but today I had to Hard reset it and all my settings are gone, also the 1.6.0.12 which is normal I suppose.
Is there no way to store that programm and settings or maybe even in the PC so it reinstalls automaticly after a hard reset and sync with my desk top?
Also, I had to Hard Reset it because, out of the blue, after 2 weeks of no problems whatsoever, suddenly he froze after sending a sms and then the keyboard was gone and I couldn't open any programms. Only Settings and the phone remained ops.
I did install VITO Smartmap and Navigator II yesterday but they worked fine.
Anyone ideas?
My ROM: 1.60.00WWE / Ext ROM 1.60.50
Thanks

Decuma OnSpot not working after WM2003SE ROM Upgrade

I recently updated my Imate PPCPE with the new ROM for WM2003SE (2.06WWE). I was previously running 1.72WWE which is WM2003.
The upgrade seems to have gone well with no issues I can notice so far except that I can not use my favourite input program Decuma OnSpot anymore. When i Install it, it just messes up the whole input functionality and ALL the input methods disappear. i.e. when i click on the little input panel button on the lower right of the screen, nothing happens. Nothing comes up and there is no way to select an input method or do any input.
Even the (default) keyboard doesnt show up anymore when it is supposed to (i.e. when i am on an input field).
Has anyone seen this issue? any idea about what is causing this or how this can be resolved? maybe there's a registry setting somewhere that can help?
got a crack for it ?
I have the same problem running WM2003SE on MDAIII

WM6 on SDA II - sucess, minor issues

Hello,
yesterday I quite successfully installed WM6 on my German SDA II. I used the 1010 ROM form this Thread: WM6 for SPV 550 and it was quite effortless. I had to restart mtty for a couple of times but finally it worked and the phone wasn't bricked. Greatest obstacle during the installation phase was to change the language from Chinese to English.
The phone works well, but since I bought it just yesterday I can't compare the OS to the previous one. To me it seems OK.
Until now I encountered some problems while using the phone:
First there is no Java included in the ROM, so I had to install and modify IBM's J9 (had a minor vribra issue with that).
Secondly, I cannot access voice commands, the phone just doesn't do anything.
And finally, t9 annoys me while writing messages. On my other smartphone, a Wm2003SE device, I can use the *-key to cycle through all input modes. This doesn't work with the 1010 ROM, instead it shows me a list of symbols in between which is annoying when you (at least try to) use correct upper and lower case writing.
Regards,
Dirk
Has anyone a solution for the t9 issue? That's a thing that really bugs me.
Dirk
read read read, it was be many times .....
Don't misunderstand me: I have t9. But on my WM2003 phone I was used to cycle through the options (abc/Abc/ABC/123/t9/T9/T9) by pressing the *-key. This still works for abc and so on but I cannot switch from t9 to T9 because then the same list of Symbols like on the #-key appears, meaning that I have to close the list, hit the key again.
Dirk
just hold "*" for the list ?
I was confused by the list. But now I just realized that I have to hit * once more, the list will go away and everything works as expected.
I also talked to the friend of whom I bought the phone and he tells me that it now works *much* faster; e. g. the camera took a while to start, now it's just a blink of the eye.

Dirk

Problem with calendar topic

Hi,
I'm wondering if this is a common problem and if there's a fix for it? Or maybe the solution is something simple that I've missed
When making new calendar entry, the topic will only take numbers when using phone keypad. Everything works as it should be when typing with qwerty keyboard.
Are you sure you didn't just switched to numeric input mode (hold the */T9 button)? Because it's working fine on my S740.
It appears that the user had installed some unofficial language package that broke this. Hard reset fixed the problem
Thank you anyway.

HTC hero keypad issues

Hi All,
Got my HTC hero and alls been well untill i got frustrated with the qwerty input! So I investigated how to swap over the settings to phonepad T9 mode, Success under the Text settings, under Chinese options. Untill i went to type a message and its gone back to qwerty !! Check my options and it still remains on the new setting. Why is this??? Also is it because my factory ROM is Singapore? If how would I get an offial HTC rom (European) to install on my device?
Thanks, Im running 2.7
