Hello!
My Photon on 4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_MR-3, trying do update to latest, but it stuck on first update.
I tried get it by Wi-FI, 3G. This is ~17MB only, but I have 750 kilobytes in three days...
May be someone have this update (Blur_Version.45.2.3.MB855.Sprint.en.US.zip from /cache partition)?
Thanks.
Are you rooted? Have you removed any sprint apps (bloatware etc)?
Phone is rooted, sprint apps are not touched...

Just a few questions. Running Tmobile stock rooted on the I717 is great but makes me a bit nervous as to what i can and can't do with this phone. I am running the UVLG3 with the T879UVLG3 baseband. and just got an update notification. so was wondering.
1. If i update will it brick the phone. tmobile update as that is what the phone id ID'd as.
2. If i do update and all goes well, i am sure root will be gone. Can i just odin recovery image and flash root through that?
3. if there a way to get the phone to not receive the updates on this rom?
4. Since i have the Tmobile modem, can i flash 4.2.2 ATT roms or any other ATT roms or will that cause issues?
Thanks for the help, just want to get rid of the annoying update reminders in the notification bar.
I apologize in advance if this has been answered or if I have inadvertently offended. I did watch the video and have developed OSes for 30 years. I also have searched all over this site and the web for resolution and am making no progress, so I'm asking the 'oracle'
Got an ATT S4 (I337) a week ago - it was running UCUAMDL. I rooted it using Motochopper and was happily using Titanium Pro etc. I get notified of OTA update. OTA update downloads (357MB) yet fails during install at 30% consistsently.
I figure it is unhappy with my root - I unrooted and cannot remember which way I did it - I seem to recall SuperSU I was using did not have the built-in 'unroot' support so I grabbed the stock image and used ODIN to flash it.I also may have manually uninstalled the 'normal' way the SU app - I suspect this may be my real problem.
After flashing stock ROM for UCUAMDL phone was no longer rooted, did not say custom etc, and took the OTA upgrade just fine. This was for UCUAMF3 which did add App 2 SD support - BTW this update used another 1G of storage compared to UCUAMDL, and I could not recover the 1G by moving apps either, making it virtually worthless as far as adding support for apps in SD, lol.
The problem is now I cannot seem to get the device rooted again. Motochopper fails when installing su.apk. I suspect I have screwed the pooch - what do I need to do to get this thing rooted again?
Is it typical for an OTA update to fail 'because' the device is rooted?
Any advice is much appreciated.

I do believe it's because of the latest OTA update. I know the OTA for Verizon patched our bootloader hack that we previously had and I think the same may have happened for AT&T. You might want to check through the AT&T forums section as you have an AT&T S4 and this is the Verizon section. Hope you find what your looking for!

I'd begin with posting in the forum applicable to your device. That being said, in about sure at&t's update was on par with ours

So a friend from China is in town, (In the USA), but she is still on 4.1.2 due to the constant conflict between Google and China. Due to that there is no way she will ever get an Ota update.
How would I go about updating her stock unrooted to the most recent version? She uses services that use sim cards over there and she uses family mobile in the USA.
I've updated stock uprooted to latest version of the SPH-L710 but not the I9300. Some process? If so can someone give me direction to the standard non specific carrier most recent version?
Also, via Odin, will this wipe all her personal information and wipe internal storage? Or just update as if it was over the air (ota)
I unlocked my AT&T One M8 a couple of months ago (I'm still on the AT&T network), since then I haven't been able to get any OTA updates. I'm currently still on Android 4.4.2 and I know that the One M8 on AT&T has already been updated to 4.4.3 and even
4.4.4 on some networks.
Is it possible that since I unlocked my device I can no longer receive OTA updates? Has anyone else had this problem?
Are you running a custom ROM?
Unlocked bootloader and root alone shouldn't prevent you from getting the OTA notification and even downloading it. Although be aware if any system files have been altered by root, the OTA will not install. Also, if you have a custom recovery installed, OTA will not install (and you will bootloop or get stuck in recovery if you try). So system files all need to be intact (or restore) and stock recovery needs to be installed.
If stock ROM, there might just be some fluke that is preventing you from getting the update notification. For some folks, a factory reset makes the OTA notification come through.
Also, all questions should be posted in the Q&A section. I'll report to the mods to move this thread.
As with all threads posted as a question, you have been moved to q&a for better assistance.
Yeah so I got a 136mb update notification today on my device. I unlocked my bootloader via the method in the "WTF.." thread; restored a sprint backup over the US998 firmware to get my 4G working again since I am on sprint. I'm afraid the update may apply while I'm asleep or if I reboot the phone. Under the update settings on Sprint the ability to disable checking for updates is not an option.

You have root now. You can remove/freeze/disable any OTA updates.

Would freezing "FOTA update" take off this? Looked up it up on titanium and froze that.

Sounds right.
Disable automatic updates in developer options. I don't believe the update would work without stock recovery tho.(confirmed I tried to reboot, it failed update. I am on US998 rom just swapped US998 build.prop with Sprint build.prop) you might be able to flash from recovery not sure tho.
I was curious so I pulled the update.zip from /cache here it is https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OvV-OI-mX9qVUKOtaAe9IBxplW2Q4UHN/view?usp=drivesdk I wouldn't install it. Every update I recieved from Sprint seemed to lock the phone down even more. It does seem to have a modem update..
