Vibrate stopped working overnight - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok guys, here's a odd one for ya...my Vibrant has been working fine until this morning. All I did was kill the battery completely and charge it up last night cause I wanted to condition it and now my vibrate has just stopped. I get a short little vibrate like it would when you touch the soft keys but nothing else. I'm running stock 2.2 rooted and with the Bali kernel...was working great.
Any ideas? I have uninstalled all sound apps that I've installed and still nothing...

Didn't want to do it but did a hard reset and it fixed it, kinda odd...

That happened to me as well right out of the blue. I also had to do a hard reset from within CWM and that cleared it right up

This happened to me a while back and I have just been living with it. Haptic feedback stopped as well. The hard reset you are referring to, does this wipe all your data?

Yep wipes all your data on the phone, I just ran MyBackup and backed up everything..wiped and then restored...

I was experiencing this, tried a hard reset and it did not work. My phone has not vibrated under any circumstance for about 8 months or so now, even after trying every software-based fix I could find by googling. I'm pretty sure the motor is just burnt out. Anyone else experienced this, or have ideas for options?

[Q] Anyone Have Issues With Phone Going Into "Safe Mode"?

Hello,
This has happened to my wifes and my phone numerous times and there is no real pattern to it. I've spoke to "adrynalyne" about it and here is what he said: "The reason why the phone would randomly go into Safe Mode would be false touches being registered on the capacitive keys. I am not trying to sound like a jerk, but aside from cleaning the screens and possibly interference from screen protectors...."
Anyone have any other info on this? Neither phone has a screen protector on them and I'm not sure how to prevent it. It seems to happen a lot more to my wife than mine, my phone is running SC2.8 and hers is running SC2.6 but it's happened on on all previous versions of SC.
Any other info to share? Thanks
-Edit-
Just wanted to add, hers has done it while it's charging and not even being touched.
I don't even know what safe mode is on this phone, I'm not sure I've ever seen it.

It's real, I'll see if the screen shot app will work next time it happens to me.
happened to me just this weekend.. Was out on a hike, using gps to keep track of mileage.. phone was working fine for first 3 or 4 hours but then pulled it out and was somewhat frozen (not cold, just unresponsive). It rebooted itself a few times and both times ended up in safe mode.. Safe mode written across the bottom of the screen with no widgets or cell connectivity.. much like windows safe mode.
I pulled the battery and started back up and it was fine. Would love to hear some more info on this safe mode. Though if it were important I'm sure there'd be mention of it somewhere in the devthreads.

Overheat - Battery Drain - Strange Behavior

Has anyone else had any problems similar to the below? I've had my phone for about 6 weeks and its been fine apart from the standard issues others are having, it''s not rooted and apart from maybe 10 apps installed is as it arrived.
Today I noticed it was exceptionally warm in my pocket (Top shirt pocket not trouser) to the point where I was getting worried, when I checked the screen it had used about 50% battery in less than 2 hours! So I checked what was rinsing the battery and it reported Android OS, the screen and phone idle all as top players.
I decided to reboot to see if that stopped it getting hot, still the same used another 25% battery in 30 minutes. Shut down took battery out rebooted still draining the battery and getting hot.
At this point the strange behavior started when the phone rebooted it said I had 5 missed calls and a text message. Checked missed calls non there, tried to read text message and it wasn't there but the notification was still at the top so I accessed the message from there and replied. Went back to message inbox still no message locked screen and still reports 5 missed calls that are not in the call log!!!!
Battery has now died and it's only been on a few hours!
The getting hot thing has worried me more than anything as the phone wasn't doing anything......anyone got any ideas please?
Restore factory settings or use the pc suite to repair the phone.

I also had a battery problem. It was the facebook application that caused the trouble. I deleted all the facebook's data, and today I have no more problem
Thank you for all your replies, I tried resetting the phone settings and that made no difference at all so I did a factory reset...........just spent the last few hours re-installing everything and setting everything up .
The battery performance has gone back to normal but I think the phone is definately running hotter than it was, I can actually feel it in my shirt pocket now whereas before I could just feel the weight of it.
Total newbie question I know but now the phone seems to be running normally again is there a way to back it up exactly as it is? I.e. keeping all my K9 mail settings, installed apps etc etc, it's taken hours to put it all back and I don't fancy doing it again.

i think this have been fixed by a Touchpad Calibration update by service centers since late last month.
anyone can confirm this? i am about to get a 'grey market' phone that have the exact same problem. if the calibration will have it fixed, then i'm going to get it for sure
yea u can even install astro file manager from android market which helps keeping your application ..
Not much activity here eh?
I just want to find out if the touch screen unresponsiveness, overheating, and crazy menu/back button behavior has been resolved by the touchpad calibration done by SE service centers? Is there a way we can resolve, or update the touchpad drivers ourselves?
Thanks in advance!

.21 screwed it all up..., ( sleep of death ? )

Had no problems what so ever with my software until i updated to .21, ( others had flickers, signal problems and stuff like that. ).
How ever the last update seem to have given my tablet the "sleep of death" issue, so it seems to be called atleast, after putting it into sleep it wont wake up unless i hold the power button and let it turn off and then power it back up, happen twice and i just recently updated to .21.
have you tried a soft reset to see if it might clear it?

??
A soft reset is needed just to get the thing working again... It happens again after that, so no, it doesn't really solve anything.

soft reset doesn't mean you have to reinstall everything again. that's a hard/factory reset. soft reset you just stick a paper clip in the little hole underneath the memory card slot.
I don't have that issue at all. I think 2-3 people reported it or from what I've seen so far.

ah, thought soft reset refered to factory reset and hard reset was equalent to nvflash, so just pressing the reset button is wourth a try...
Is this the problem where the screen goes black like usual and when you tap power it doesn't come back on no matter how many times you press power?
This started happening to me after the update, but all I had to do was tap the volume button and then the power button would start responding again.
Hope the fix is that simple for all of you.

It happened to me again and the volume trick didn't work this time. Holding power for about 10 seconds to restart still worked though. Are all Android tablets this unstable? As much as I love the whole idea of Android, the minor to serious kinks I regularly encounter with this thing are pretty aggravating.
It happended twice to me after the upgrade. Had to keep pushing power for like 10 seconds.

Before I had the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and had no problem. Like you said, is pretty aggravating, specially when my wife have an ipad 2 and always is talking about what smooth is her ipad.
Started happening to me as well. Never had any problems with prior updates now I've gone to shutdown 2 times since making an update. The method described above doesn't work for me.

its just a software issue introduced with the latest patch and sins it wasent there before the patch its hopefully removed within the next update.
*edit* - it have happen a couple of times now for me and i tried spaming the crap out of the buttons with no result so the only working method is to hold the power button to it goes off or the soft reset button...
I posted this in another thread, but thought I'd put it here also in case the other one is too far down. This is working for me.
I've been having this since the latest update as well. It happens whether it's on the charger or not. So far I haven't had it out of the dock long enough to know if being docked has anything to do with it, but I do know that removing it from the dock once it happens doesn't clear the issue. However, I did notice that if I go under Settings > ASUS Customized Setting > BATTERY SAVING and uncheck MobileDock Battery saving mode, it doesn't seem to happen. After I did that it didn't happen for about 36 hours, but as soon as I re-checked it to test, it happened the first time it went to sleep. Maybe a coincidence, but prior to that I couldn't make it more than a couple of hours without it happening. Might be worth a try as a work around if you're having this issue. After it happened to me again, I unchecked the setting above again and have had no SoD since.
This has happened to me 3 times now since the update and the only way to get any response on is by holding the power button for 10 seconds. Mine has always been docked and plugged into the charger when this happened.

yea, saw this in the other post and tried it to, havent worked for me tho, :/, im gonna undock the tablet this night and ill see if it happens again this morning without the dock, so far it have happpen every morning with and without the charger plugged in, and even while it was a sleep in my bag at work, ( while in the dock ).
I had this happen for the first time today.
I lost about an hour of productivity as it took me ages to work out I had to hold the power button for just over 10 seconds to get it to force a shutdown.
I'm guessing everyone here has a dock who is getting this issue.
Lastnight I enabled the network deep sleeep and dock sleep in asus custom settings.
Anyone using the same? and getting the issue.

Phone reboots during call

Hey guys, I've been having a weird issue for the past week now. On Mean Bean 3.09 every phone call I take or make ends up rebooting, usually within a minute of the call going through. Now, I also noticed that my proximity sensor now longer works and the screen remains ON during the calls no matter how close my face is to the sensor/screen (I am not a ghost).
I have tried completely wiping to factory multiple times, and flashing different roms, including basic rooted stock roms. All now have this same issue where my proximity sensor does nothing (screen stays on unless I hit power button during call) and it reboots the phone during all my phone calls. Anyone have any idea what's going on, and suggestions on how to fix? Thanks!
You may want to look at the firmware version you are running.
Just an idea, never had that issue before.
Captain has a very detailed list of them here
http://themikmik.com/showthread.php...dio-Collection&p=220556&viewfull=1#post220556
I guess at this point it cant hurt.
So, seems it was a hardware failure. Took it into sprint and they had to order a replacement phone, there goes 50 bucks =/
At least its fixed

Touch issues

I have the global version of the S6 Edge, and something strange is happening. I'm wondering if this means I need a new LCD / Digitizer replacement.
A couple months ago my phone stopped responding to touch completely. I put it down and used another device for a while. Took it up one day, charged it up, and the touch started working fine for a couple more months.... Until it stopped again. IDK what else to try. I've wiped the cache, did the master reset, hard reset.... Now it's sitting at the setup screen, not registering a touch anywhere.
Does anybody have any ideas??? I've spent the entire day resetting the phone to no avail. I'm also running stock software. Never rooted.
Thanks
