Is there any plans for getting a Kernel that will allow us to overclock or Amazes. I have been wanting to see how we can push this device and havent seen anything in the development forums about anything for overclocking. Props to Xboarder for creating excellent Roms right off the bat for the amaze. I have tested all of them and there all pretty AWESOME!

This is patently wrong, S-Off is NOT needed, a unlocked S-On bootloader will do the trick for custom system/boot partitions, meaning a custom rom can be loaded on the phone (including overclocking, although nobody has a custom kernel that can do it yet). You can easily unlock the S-On bootloader at htcdev.com, it remains S-On, but is "unlocked", the reason it is still "S-On" is because you can't flash unsigned radio images or unsigned HBOOT images.
This will easily OC to 1.7ghz, probably 1.8-1.9ghz, I haven't checked, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's the same SoC as the Sensation, which easily goes to 1.7ghz.
The thing that kills me is that there is so little out there for this phone. Sure it's pretty new, but it seems like HTC is even giving us the shaft, as they're putting ICS on the Sensation before the Amaze.
At least we're not hurting for processor power. I'm running Energy and loving it.
You guys should speak to Faux123 since we all chipped in and bought him an Amaze just so he can get us custom kernels. Unfortunately we discovered that HTC hasn't released the wifi drivers (TI 1983 drivers I believe) and although we were able to obtain the drivers they still didn't work right with the kernel. He has tried 28 times and we're stuck at the best he can offer. So blame HTC for keeping you from frying your CPU.
You would think it could go past 1.9ghz my G2 was OC to 1.9ghz and some even got 2.1 and 2.2ghz

Same for MT4G if I remember right. Whenever I would show off it's speeds, I'd momentarily OC to 1.9 min/max. But I get better speeds from my amaze at 1.5 than I did on mt4g at 1.9 so I think it's fine how it is.

Been noticing ever since performing S off and rooting my evo 3d every custom rom i flash still gets the same benchmark results with quadrant, linpack, and smartbench or worse then running stock. Even with running Rc Mix overclock kernel with numerous roms and setting clock speed to 1.5 and 1.7 gighrz oc benchmark numbers are significantly worse then stock. I know these tests are pretty much for bragging rights and not real world usage, but coming from an inspire 4g when i oced to over 1.5 was getting 3000+ on quadrant.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
I haven't looked too deep into it, but I've noticed some rooted devices around here pushing 7500 on CF-bench which is much more than the SGSII and over 3000 as well on quadrant.
Scores will continue to significantly increase once we have an AOSP rom/CM with more optimized kernels.
Use setcpu and set both sliders to Max and governor to performance and retest

He is Correct. S-OFF means that the NAND portion of the device is unlocked and can be written to. The default setting for HTC’s devices is S-ON, which means that neither can you access certain areas of the system nor can you guarantee a permanent root. Furthermore, signature check for firmware images is also ensured by the S-ON flag.

What's up everyone?
Just wanting to see if people have been able to overclock past 1.8 successfully. And by that I mean no lag, reboots, and runs faster then 1.2 lol. I remember with the OG Evo that 1.19 was more or less the most you could get out of the phone. I can get to 1.8 on most overclocking kernels, just wondered if anyone got higher. I personally use net's kernel, silverneedle, and I must say it's rather nice.
And no, this isn't supposed to be an overclocking vs. not overclocking type of thread (sorry trolls :]). People are going to overclock because it's fun.

that would be sweet, i read that its only stable to 1.7.....thats what everyone keeps telling me as well. I dont think ive seen a phone yet hit the 2.0 barrier on a dual core!
what are the steps you use on your kernel. I know the stock goes from 1.18 straight to 1.5. did you change that so it atleast has 1.2,1.3 and 1.4? it also goes from 192 straight to 384. do you add a 200 in there at all. I think that would help with power savings. especially when it comes to haves a screen off profile. The phone gets a little laggy when you have it set to just 192mhz for screen off. its better when its 192-384mhz. But having a 290 or something in there would help out im sure and save a little bit of juice due to being able to set it to 192-290 or what not.
just wondering. i thought the stock kernel on the phone was a little odd in them regards. it really likes 1.5 and really hates 192mhz.

It all boils down to voltage, some devices require more voltage than others, some require less. My 3D handles 1.83 all day long, but I had 3D's running at 1.83 LONG before I even had one, remember, I'm on Verizon.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to how I can get TMOUSA working on the rezound? I might buy this phone in a week...
Is there a specific rom I need to flash to get TMOUSA to work? Or is it Flash once, done?
Either install JoelZ's Sense 4.0 rom and use the GSM patch and then just toss your sim in.

The reason I'm getting this phone it's because it can work with TMOUSA, and it has a 720P display..
Also, I can't find any OC kernels... Is there any kernel for rezound that OC to around 1.7/1.8Ghz?

No stable GB kernels that overclock and there are overclock ICS kernels if you search. The rezound is really fast at stock clocks though. There isn't much reason to OC.
Not sure why you are so opposed to using the roms I mentioned. Joel's sense 4.0 rom which the GSM patch is meant for is by far the best rom.

Sorry, I'm new...
I'm from the LG G2X, thinking of getting rezound.
Is it hard to S-Off? On a scale of 10 what is it out of?
Can I flash any kernel/any rom using the HTCDev method(S-ON)?
Just to confirm, the GSMFix is 100%, SMS, Data, Call. Right?
Sorry for many questions, I want to make sure of everything before I buy this phone.

LOL any phone would be an upgrade from the G2X.
S-OFF is probably a 2 on a scale of 10. It looks WAY harder than it is.
You can flash any kernel/rom with S-ON, but it is not a convenient. I recomment S-OFF immediately. It makes it much easier to recover your phone too if any issues arise.
GSM Fix is 100%. You will get T-Mobile 3G, texts, calls, etc.
However, since you are on tmobile, I would recommend a One series since you are a GSM user.

I don't want the One S, Pentile display, battery, no SD.
The one X is too expensive. ( Rezound is about $300, One S is about $425, One X is about $550)
So this will work with TMOUSA 3G, or is it just EDGE?
With S-Off, I can just flash kernel, and roms with CWM right?
^^ Can't I flash roms and kernel with S-On on CWM?

Don't worry about what S-OFF allows you to do. Just S-OFF the device. 3G should work fine as well as edge.

The thickness isn't really that bad, it's a beautiful phone IMO.
You want thickness get the extended battery for all day power users. With an extra extended battery you can pretty much go anywhere and not worry about losing power. The phone still fits in your pocket and chicks dig it
Don't worry about an OC kernel. You won't be able to control the scaling properly. In my use leaving kernel as is provides the best battery life.

the one s is not pentile display and from what reviewers have said, it has the best QHD screen right now. Just remember that a 720p screen sucks way more battery than a QHD. I would do the one s personally instead of trying to rig a verizon phone on t-mobile. Pretty sure the one s is hspa 42 (at least 21).

Forgive me, but I can't seem to find a whole lot for the AT&T version of this phone. I am a new owner of a used HOX+ on AT&T, long time Android user, rooter, flasher. Never stuck with a device long that wasn't s-off so I am not super familiar with kernel flashing and ADB is always a new experience for me every time I use it (too long in between use to remember much about it, AND I just went and installed Linux on my machine :silly: ).
I've come to terms with there not really being much out there for the AT&T phone, so I've resigned to sticking with the stock ROM rooted. I am wondering if I've missed a sense friendly kernel out there that I can use to change clock speed with, undervolt, etc.? Any other recommendations concerning ROMs etc are appreciated!
There are no fully functional AOSP type roms, are there? :crying:

It may have been a while, but I could've sworn you could, you just had to flash kernels through fastboot.
So you can have a custom kernel, but you can't use OC/UV? What about governers? Can you adjust those?
You can still flash kernels though. That only requires an unlocked Bootloader.

Yep for at&t users all we have is the sense 4+ rom.. my reaction was the same as yours
Try bedalus's hxore kernel 1.3, works perfectly on my sense rom, you can mess with clock speeds but that's all. I also recommend Elegancia rom which is solid too
