How can I return to stock - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Just saw the news on Skyrocket and will be returning my GS2 before the 30 days. I can always buy it again if Skyrocket isn't all that.
I'm rooted and running UnNamed ROM so how can I go back to stock?
Thanks for the help. I'm sure theres a couple other people on the same boat

Go to the development forum and look under the stickies. It's one of the first posts on kernals, etc. I would recommend you find this information out before you root your device.

LOL, that does not include root. IF they choose to look and find it rooted, your warranty is void. That also means so is the return policy.

The guy at my ATT store they didnt care if it was rooted
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium

OK, so you trust the guy at your AT&T store. However, read the agreement you have with the company. Then, when the phone goes to the service center, and they determine that you voided the warranty, you will receive a charge on your bill for the full retail value of the phone. This is my understanding of the risk.

Return to stock
Another post is here for a description using Odin, and how to check/change your firmware flash count. (You need a jig to reset this; if you don't want to build one they were available on amazon prime as of last week. I tend to trust Amazon to fulfill purchases from unknown sellers.)
I found the above guide to be better personally as it spelled things out better and offered more than one method -- as well on showing how to view the flash counter if you run into someone really tech-savvy at AT&T.

I don't know how this rumor started but it's completely false. Once they've accepted the return, anything they determine after the fact is on them. Ethical or not is besides the point.

I was actually thinking of wireless warranty return, and I see that the OP is returning the device to cancel the contract, but in AT&T Returns Policy & Early Termination Fee you will find the following:
Equipment may not be refunded and the equipment may not be returned to you if one of the following applies:
•Equipment was returned more than 30 days from the purchase or ship date.
•Equipment was determined to be ineligible (e.g., opened software, liquid or physical damage, not in substantially the same condition as when received by you).
Emphasis added.

question
If it's within 30 days, can I return my phone to store that has been rooted and unlocked but still on stock ROM?

A tually that's not true. If AT&T knowingly accepts receipt of a rooted phone, they can not charge you if Samsung rejects the device. It's like saying that Best Buy can recharge your credit card for a return they already refunded to you.

Phone Replacement

Just wanting to get a FYI. I may by default try for a replacement before my 1 year is over. Whats the process I should go through in order to make sure its a valid replacement.
What ROM should I go recover to?
What process should i go through to unroot?
Is there anything else i should make sure is done before I send in my phone after getting replacement?
All help is much appreciated.

Unless you have insurance and there is a major problem with you phone Tmo isn't going to replace your phone.
Unrooting is easy its basically typing in a few commands to unroot it or you can do it via OCLF
As far as putting the stock rom back in place you can use ODIN
T-Mo is very inconsistent. If you call one time, you can get someone that is Super Rep and will go by the book and make it hard to get a replacement. If you call again, you can end up talking to someone who just sends you a new one no questions asked.
I've had 4 vibrants since july, and have swapped them all at my t-mo store. Theyre not supposed to do that, but they do, sometimes you just gotta ask nicely and look like a victim.
Uh how have you gone thru 4 vibrants....crazy

Someone at tmo isnt doing their job. After the 3rd exchange within 3 months they are supposed to force you into a different model phone, and release you from your contract in case you want to leave them.
Because after 3 exchanges, you're costing them more money than you're worth to them.

So close to giving up

This phone is awesome until i make or receive calls. I've tried numerous roms and modems that all result in the same result which is muffled voices that i often can't even understand. Seems that its when im talking to iphone users more than anything but its always there. My inspire was great with phone calls and really never had an issue understanding with any phone I've ever owned. Very frustrating and even happens on headset and Bluetooth devices. Any advice, anyone else experience this?

It very well may be a hardware issue. It happened to me on my last SGH. When I got a new phone, I haven't experienced the issue.
Try getting a replacement with whoever you bought the phone from. I had my phone replaced via hardware warranty and not insurance, so I got it for free.

That's probably what I'll try. I bought it over the phone with at&t so I'm sure they will want me to send it in since they aren't selling the sgsII over the counter here in austin (they are pushing the skyrocket). Sucks to be without a phone for a week or so!

You'll keep your current phone until they mail you the replacement. Then you'll pack your old phone into the box and ship it off. Make sure you've flashed back to stock and removed any trace of root because if you don't you'll lose warranty.

It should be pretty easy to make a claim on faulty hardware when you do it online and send it in, I haven't had any issues with call quality or anything so I'd guess it's a hardware issue
also I've done this before, except I did it with insurance claim, and I'm pretty sure they sent it with like FedEx overnight shipping too so you wouldn't really be waiting either

I would rather have a refund than a phone someone already used and broke. I buy new, I expect new.
refurbs are often times just a new phone that they cannot sell as new because it was opened. No scratches or damages but its still new.
Refurbished phones right now are basically still new phones. Most of the refurbished phones were phones bought brand new and returned within the 30 day free-exchange period. Some people didnt like it and a lot of people returned it for the Skyrocket... so AT&T has to resell the phones as refurbished even though there was nothing wrong with it at all. So now is the time to buy a refurbished phone.
I got my Dad one last week and he got it on Thursday. Its completely brand new. Not a scratch or anything on it. He got it for $9.99 and its perfect.
of all the refurbs I ever received from AT&T, all of them looked new.
I was up to 4 Captivate refurbs last year and they all looked brand new.
Interesting, not having any call issues with my phone.

[Q] Returning relocked rezound?

So i really want to unlock but im worried about it still saying re-locked at the top if i ever have to send it back for any reason just in case. Maybe im just paranoid but i have already had 1 replacement and i don't want to have trouble if i need another. Anyways, my question is has anyone successfully returned a rezound BY MAIL. i dont care about if it worked in a store, i have to send it back by mail. Has anyone done it? If so, post your results
PS. I am not new to rooting, i had a Dinc and loved all the roms for it but you could always get it back S-on if you needed a replacement and there's no way to do that with this one.

You still have HTC's Warranty, as for Verizon.. A store Visit they won't really bother going as deep as checking the bootloader... A mail in to Verizon they would notice once they try to Debug it before selling it off as Refurbished and sending you another
But DO they check and debug that deeply. Going to a store is really just not an option for me and I don't want to be stuck with a defective phone if I can't get it replaced and its a hardware problem.
EDIT: Also, what does HTC's warentee cover vs. Verizon's?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA App
HTC claims they will cover all HW issues NOT related to unlocked bootloaders. Verizon is kinda up in the air. I can say plenty of people have said that they have sent multiple phones back to Verizon while still rooted and s-offed, so not just the rezound and have never been charged.

In all reality it comes down to the individual person at Verizon who checks the phone... Somebody might load up the Bootloader and See "Unlocked" and all hell breaks loose... Or some dude might just ignore it and flash a Factory Locked Bootloader and move on..
As for Warranty IDK.... Check the manuals that came with the phone
So, here's the better question, has anyone here actually been slapped with a fine for returning an unlocked bootloader?

I highly doubt it. The great majority of employees probably have no idea what a flash counter even is, much less how to view it.
Well, from my experience, returning a few phones:
Samsung Infuse - didn't power on, just opened back cover to make sure IMEI matched up
HTC Vivid - same
Galaxy Skyrocket - they didn't even open the box, lol
So you're probably good! From my understanding, they only look at the flash count for warranty repairs. I don't think many ATT sales guys even know what a flash count is

You guys should start a "Ask Maroon Mushroom Thread" lol....or maybe "Ask an At&t Employee Thread"?

So how would that stop someone from actually doing it? If the reason they claim said "lost" phone is due to them dropping and breaking it, they likely aren't gonna want to use the old one anyway. Sounds more like a way to avoid having to pay full retail price for a replacement rather than a way to have two working devices both for the same price.
Cept you could always get a replacement for what was claimed a lost phone, which then "turns up a few weeks later." only way to screw up is leaving on the lost phone while the replacement is on the way.
