I also got ahold of one of these plum colored beauties and I must say the colour is very very nice; having said that I'm starting to question whether or not it's worth all the trouble...
Let me explain, the first plum 3vo I got from Sprint ran perfectly fine but had a tilted screen and dust started gathering underneath it after a week; the first Sprint tech I went to about this was friendly enough and quickly set up a replacement unit for me. I waited a week, they called me in and took my handset for the replacemnt... Then it turns out the replacement unit was a black device. It also did not come with the battery cover so at that point I was the proud owner of a two tone device... I politely asked them if they can get me a matching front and they agreed and say they'll call me back when said device comes in. Two weeks later and I hadn't heard from them so I went to my closer Sprint location and they let me know nothing was put in for that replacement but would be happy to assist me in getting the correctly coloured phone. Week and a half went by and I'd received no call from THAT shop so I call them to ask for info on the status of the order. They shrugged it off and said it could be another week and that they would call ME. So I waited another week.
Yesterday I called back and spoke with a different agent who seemed a bit more patient and actually checked on the status of the order. Nothing had been put in for my account AGAIN... he apologized and put in for a rush delivery on the handset. Today I went into the store and inquired about my ordered replacement; "hasn't come in, we'll call you call you tomorrow for sure the order is in, etc."
I received a call two hours afterwards, even though the agent I spoke to earlier assured me they had received all of their orders for today, saying my replacement is in.
"Great, I'll pick it up tomorrow... Can you check on the colour for me?"
"Black."
"Ugh."
Tomorrow should be a fun trip to say the least.
Edit: Went to sprint store tonight and got a fully black/red model; they said they would "let me know" when the plum was available for replacement. I'm going to the corporate office tomorrow or call them up and see what else can be done... sigh...
Funny little tid-bit; apparently, (I'm taking these peeps' words with a grain of salt) after the 4th replacement phone you are eligible to swap out for another type of device... hmmm.... we shall see :3

I use this as a Daily internet portal, listening to music on Spotify, ebook, sketch design concepts, taking notes for work. Anytime I travel, this Little tablet is the one thing I take with me on the plane. I don't really play that many games on it, some and it does a decent job for that. So I think these Specs will be fine as long as the Apps I use doesn't require a Quad-Core. Might gift another tablet to myself, but probably sell it to a co-worker who might need the all around awesomeness of HTC Flyer at cost.

Same here. It was $295 and I almost bought one but went to Best Buy to ***** at them in person for jerking me around. I come home about an hour later (found a friend camping outside Best Buy) and it was $199.49! I couldn't click buy fast enough. Thank you Best Buy but you still suck.
I also bought one from techforless. We will see what happens. They got good reviews on Google shopper.

I live in Colorado Springs and have purchased from Tech for less many times, to all that have doubts, I would say you have nothing to worry about and will receive a quality product for the price, the reason they did this is because they had over 800 yesterday and when they have a large amout of inventory they do what is called a fire sale and that is how they move a lot of merchandise in a very short period of time. I wish I would have seen the sale would have liked one myself, OH WELL I guess I just missed out. Congrats to all that got one you got a heck of a deal!!!

Well, as luck would have it, I saw a tweet today about being able to go see the transformer prime at select Gamestop locations. There were two in Colorado that were supposed to have them to demo.
I called one of them in Denver, they said they had a display unit and a unit to sale. Well, hop in the car, and now I have an Amethyst Grey 32GB sitting next to me, completely sealed.
I wanted the 64GB version, and I think I will hold for that from Amazon. I'll probably just sell this one on craigslist.
I know I'm very lucky. The first time I've ever had anything like this happen to me.

Stuck it on Craigslist. Some of the people on IRC are saying I should take a dump of the rom before I sell it. However, if I open, I can't return it. Decisions, decisions.
Just called a gamestop about 75 miles away from me & they have the 32gb champagne gold one (purple) but i'm thinking i won't ever hardly ever be looking at the back of the thing anyway lol.My Xoom stays in a gel cover or either the folio at all times..so color really shouldnt be a big deal.

Lucky Mofo. If you don't plan on keeping it, smartest move now would be to put it on eBay. I'm sure you could easily get $800 or more for it. Since it's so rare and not even officially out yet. You should contribute by dumping the rom to developers so we could have a nice headstart on developing. The sooner the better and faster we get custom roms, CWM recovery, n over clocking.
Do a system dump dude listen to them then sell it on ebay I'm sure even opened you could still get Atleast 600! Just leave the clear plastic stickers on

Aftermseeing this thread I called around to local gamestops to see if they had it. They said only the big store ones around here would have it. I found one and they said none in stock yet but they will have it on the 19th. Only thing is he said they only taking pre orders on it so once they come in, they pretty much all will be accounted for. Especially since demand is so high. He said everybody been calling like crazy and going bananas looking for that tablet. I was like I know, it's the first quad core android tablet..LMFAO

Haha, sorry, was getting late and needed to end it quickly. I asked the cashier to go get a manager because he couldn't give me cash for the gift card. Manager came over, I just said that I had been over at customer service for the last hour and a half and that I'd like cash for this gift card because i am no longer going to shop at this store.
I just got so annoyed with the waiting game. Anyone I spoke with had absolutely no idea what i was talking about most of the time. Also, the computer guy that came over to check the Prime, he actually says, "why don't you just get an ipad"? I wanted to slam his head against the counter.

I've always detested BestBuy. They're the "Hot Dog On A Stick" of consumer electronics stores. Too well lit... Too plasticky... Forget about getting anything even remotely obscure there -- too few choices on most things.
'Won't even get started on how borderline criminal Geek Squad is. $25(ish) to "optimize" my e-reader?
Being an IT professional, I advise as many folks as possible to avoid that store and go elsewhere... anywhere...

Actually the main difference was, on that Friday when they wouldn't put a Saturday delivery sticker on for you? They went the extra mile for me, and SENT IT GROUND (after I had paid $29 for overnight shipping 4 weeks earlier), causing it to take another 12 days to reach me in a padded envelope, after riding via Rail from California to North Carolina. The box was quite crushed, though the Prime seemed okay... at first.
oh, and they charged me for the pre-order immediately, even though the policy says "we won't charge until we ship" so I had paid for it almost 6 weeks earlier.
The good news? I got my Prime for free. Yep. BB provided a FULL REFUND. I should be happy yes? Sort of. The Prime ended up RMA'ed, and I am without it once again. The saga continues. It was agreed to send me another one, yesterday, overnight. And yes, I agreed to let them open and test it since I am NOT going to be without it again, but instead of shipping it yesterday - Thursday they forgot... whoops. Now I wait till next week, unless I can get Asus to do a Saturday sticker...This is like the movie groundhog day... it literally never ends.... and I so lived my OG transformer... It's like I am being punished for wanting something more... The Prime I got paused, hung and lagged on virtually everything I did with it. It was cosmetically nice, but never saw a single GPS satellite. Wifi... fair... Light bleed, not terrible, but enough to cause concern, in every way it was ... not much better than my TF101 except in looks, and took a better picture. Not nearly as slick as I had hoped. Looked wonderful with the dock though... Horrible to keep clean. ICS is cool, but again, it lags so often, ... well maybe the nbew one will be better, or enough updates will come along to get things right... sigh

Thanks for posting this. I am glad to know I wasn't alone. That is pretty awesome that they gave you a free one, hopefully you get it soon! My device did work pretty well. Still got hung up every once in a while but I just couldn't spend that kind of money and not have at least the build quality done well and I am not dealing with that many dead pixels. If it were just a couple, that's another story.

Maybe that is why I don't get a great signal with my D-Link dual band gaming router, I didn't buy the solid gold packet protecting ethernet Cables! It has nothing to do with having a three floor residence.
On the other hand, I did work there for three years so I do know how to game the system. Due to the one year ADH I have only had to pay 99 a year to upgrade my laptop to a newer version.

I was in one shop and the back of the phone and top front edge looked dark grey but then I went into another shop and it looked definitely black. Is there only one colour (Carbon Grey) or does it come in black also? I prefer the black and am in UK.

Carbon Grey (AT&T).. That I'm aware of they should all be the same color regardless if branded or otherwise... But I could be wrong
I googled it, and somehow have the feeling that it's carbon-gray phone only. The phone is black, but the sleeve is carbon-gray.
Mine is carbon-gray too. You don't realise it until you look at the edges around the screen though.
I read somewhere in early Titan days, someone in US went for an accessory replacement and the back sleeve he got was black instead of carbon-gray from HTC. Any pics on the net showing the difference? I feel colour blind!
I swear the unit on display in Carbone Warehouse in Selfridges London, is all black - front and back. I know this because I never liked the grey colour so the black colour there immediately hit me.
If anyone knows of any links to a black cover please let me know.

I believe the carbon grey backing is specifically at&t's version of the Titan( they released it late in the u.s. and wanted it to be slightly different. I have that specific Titan but have purchased a spare Euro(black) cover on eBay because you are definitely right, it looks much better!

I used to develop when it was 'Windows Mobile' - did 5+ ROMs and Mods for Toshiba TG01 (the first snapdragon phone ever!)
I was also active for a bit on Android forums after that. Made themes etc, so grateful users do thank me. Never did donations, so thanks was everything I get
