I tried this for my Evo 3D and it worked awesome. I can stay connected with more signal strength and my download speeds are faster:

I know its for the epic, but works on the EVO 3D as well. The Directions are very similar

When I had the HTC Hero I was hitting that upload at peak & averaging 800Kbps upload. My Downloads were around 2.2Mbps down.
Those are Rev. A speeds. Glad to see that they're returning.

Yes, many smartphones in the Sprint line-up will. The question is if Sprint will be smart & activate it on the newtork. All the ducks are lined up.

I mean, I would love to get that speed also, but my buddies on AT&T and Verizon consistently get 2M-4M all day long.

wow it couldn't be more opposite for me in central Florida. I work for AT&T installing the cell equipment and I have Sprint. No wonder so many Sprint users are complaining about 3g speeds.
Average 3g in Houston, TX :
Taken on the way home from work... tonight.
But, yeah, 3g is usually between 1&2..
(Not really that impressive, IMHO.)
<<work in progress>>
Wifi at home, however, is pretty ok in my book....
(and that's not even the best connection speed).

Also, current 4g, while I'm here...

If the phone is unlockable, with a tool available from Motorola with a warning saying "If you unlock the bootloader of this device, your warranty is void... blah blah" .. Thats Motorola's loophole for no support.

It's actually (mostly) not Motorola. The problem is carriers, worried about their bloatware (especially Verizon). Motorola has stated that as soon as carriers (Verizon) allows unlocked bootloaders, they'll comply with a tool similar to HTC's. All Big Red cares about is raping your wallet... HARD (I have the bills to prove it) and their bloatware sucks data like no other app you'll find anywhere. The reason our bootloaders have chastity belts is because Verizon wants to protect their bloat, and keep playing Viking (not Minnesota style, Nordic Viking) on your payroll. That's at least my take on things... Besides, this phone is a beast out of the box, AND (at some point) we WILL get ICS. There aren't any fully functional ports of it out, and anyone who's ever flashed a ROM, or customized Kernel will tell you that there are drawbacks to flashing them in most cases (I know, I was a hard core flashaholics with the EVO).

While I appreciate how crappy Verizon is (American friends regularly remind me), I really don't see why they keep getting brought up as if they're chiefly responsible - Moto started this locked bootloader trend with the original Milestone, the GSM variant of the Droid, and went as far as to tell customers to buy a Nexus One if they wanted a development platform. There are open market GSM RAZRs, no carrier attached, bootloader locked like all the rest (I'm posting this from one). Even the developer edition has a locked bootloader. I'm sure VZW have a lot of sway with Moto, but that doesn't explain why all of the other RAZRs are locked too.
Still hoping that merger gets us the result we want when it's all ironed out. It's a shame it's worked out like this. Kudos to the devs we have for accomplishing so much when they're so shackled.

what the hell does verizon have to do with all the other consumers all over the world. keep your damned bootloaders on verizon and unlock all the other ones >_> sold overseas. moto support has been **** ever since they released the v6.

What you guys aren't thinking about is how much carriers pay to have an "Exclusive" phone. AT&T paid out of their butt to get the iCrap, and so did Sprint when the "exclusive" contract ended. Think about the MSRP. The manufacturers of these devices say they're worth up to $600+. We get them for $199 (or $0.01 in my case) because of the money the carrier spent to get your $1,500+ per year on their contract... From a business perspective it makes complete sense, but for us... It SUCKS! THAT'S why Verizon is to blame...

The RAZR isn't a Verizon exclusive device outside of the US, though, which is pretty much my point.
Absolutely agree that the existing business model is very broken, but it isn't going to change until people stop buying subsidized handsets.

Sucks even more that none of the US networks are truly cross-compatible, makes subsidies almost a necessary evil. I hope for everyone's sake that the logical extension of VoLTE leads to cross-compatibility.

No love for Washington state, just rain...
I was so excited when my Note showed that little 4g icon at the top. And when I noticed it was getting better speeds than my Wifi, I assumed I was somehow getting LTE.
Then I saw some of the speedtest.net results from the true LTE users and realized I was somewhere between Edge and 4g.
Since the Tmobile fix, I've gone back to my unlimited SIM, but I am no longer satisfied with the <1Mbps speed that Tmobile offers in this area. At least with fauxgee through At&t I was getting ~4Mbps.
When I read this release earlier, I just got even more depressed. I don't think AT&T has any intention of bringing LTE to my area even by 2013.
Why should I, at 5x slower speeds, be paying the same as my counterparts in big cities?.
I guess this decision isn't going to be as easy as I had hoped.

Just to commiserate with the others from Philly...we continue to be left out in the cold.
I was talking to a tech blogger who moved from California to DFW and she was commenting on how much easier it is to do business outside of Cali. She said it is so difficult to put towers up if you need them and to get permits to adjust the networks etc. She mentioned in Texas it is much more business friendly which is why we have good networks. I noticed that even when Sprint launches their Lte network in a few Texas cities once it comes online.
Not sure if the ATT LTE rollout is affect by this but I suspect it is. The business climate where you live will unfortunately probably affect your LTE availability.

Minneapolis / St. Paul should be a top priority. Verizon launched there the first day they had LTE. ATT needs to compete.
