[Q] Data Connection Problems - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I have a X10i running CM7 2.3.5 baseband 2.1.71 kernel 2.6.29-zdzihu-19082011
I have a data plan through my service provider (I've been able to access data no problem before with this device and this ROM and this SIM). I recently found out I was using the wrong APN "internet.fido.ca" and I am now using the correct APN "fido-core-appl1.apn".
I am in a good service area, however I notice that sometimes my data connection is intermittent. I see the H or 3G with the signal bars however I can't send/receive data.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? It was working great since last Friday when I changed the APN.

3G/HSDPA Connection Issues - Vodafone

Hi Guys,
I've had my Hero for a while now and I've got a problem were it will not make a stable 3G/HSDPA connection, browsing the internet etc works perfectly fine when I have "Use only 2G networks" selected but when its unselected and my Hero shows the 3G or H symbol the connection simple times out when I try to use it.
The area I'm in has a very good 3G signal, I've tried my sim card in a friend's phone and it connects to 3.5G with full bars and browses the internet just fine. (the issue follows me no matter where I am)
I've checked my APN settings and these are all correct, I've updated my Radio to the latest supplied on Modaco and just today upgraded to Modaco's 3.1 rom.
Anyone have any suggestions to fix this? Or experiencing the same issue?

[Q] Data issue New phone (Atrix)

Hi,
I received the phone yesterday, put in the SIM which has data enabled on my old phone.
Voice calls work fine but I get a message saying that there is limited data connectivity. WIFI works fine.
Initially when I went through the set up process MotoBlur could not connect (later realised my WIFI was down) So I turned off Motoblur using Bluroff.
I have set up the phone with my gmail account and downloaded the market app. the version of the market app I have is 2.3.6.
My system details are as follows:
System V4.1.83
Android version 2.2.2
Baseband N_01.77.15p
I thought it might be the APN considering I am using it in AUS and it is an AT&T phone. Confirmed the APN with another phone on the same carrier and still no joy.
I have even inserted the other SIM to ensure it was not mine.
Data connections have all been switched to the on position, I also dowloaded an APN toggle to ensure that the data connection was on.
I have full bars from the carrier with an H+ symbol next to the bars.
There is a small window for me to send the phone back. I am hoping there is a simple explanation though.
Thank you in advance.
Was your last phone an iphone? If it was you need to switch the data plan.

Thanks,
I will go back to the carrier to confirm my access.

[Q] Roaming problems on the S2

I have a problem with roaming.
I am on MTS who has joined with Rogers network.
On stock ROM: 2-6-35-7-i9100xwkf3-cl276555 rootdell101 #2
I go to the US
Phone works on roaming
Can receive SMS
Cannot send SMS - Send fails
I have since rooted and installed Alienware 2-6-35-11 ninphetamine 2.1.3 xxkh3
I go to the US
Phone has 4/5 bars and can't get on network to roam
can't send/receive SMS
when dialing get the Mobile network unavailable message
My wife's samsung galaxy S i897 works fine -
Swapping SIMs with her yields the same failures on my S2 with her SIM.
In both cases, crossing the border home fixes the problem and life is grand.
I have tried:
1.enabling data roaming
2.rebooting
3.battery pull
4.swapping sims
Is anyone else having similar roaming issues - is there a ROM that actually works while roaming from Canada while in the US?
I have seen problems on my old Galaxy S and my wife's similar to this as when trying different ROMS, but have never gone across the border with any of these ROMS installed.
What I've seen with different ROMS is:
1. sometimes cannot get phone to get on network unless I setup the APN settings first
2. sometimes cannot get phone or data to work without enabling roaming mode. The phone actually says it's roaming even when it's on the home network
Is there anything I'm missing in the forums on this issue?
Thanks for the help
hmm, maybe you've tried, but have you checked if the APN list is accurate ?
i believe there is an app to set the APN on the market ( can't remember the name though, never had the need for it.)
or try to google if you can find the APN setting of your network provider.
Seem like an APN problem to me as you explain it.
on the phone, you can access that with :
Settings >> Mobile networks >> Access Point Names and then the details of each APN can be checked/edited.

How Android roaming indicator works?

Hi, I came accross this situation which i cannot understand how.
I am using cyanogenmod 9.1 in my HTC Explorer (pico) with BSNL Mobile as carrier in India.
Recently, I moved to another state and android is showing roaming. After one or two days, the roaming symbol disappeared. Even in phone info (*#*#4636#*#*), it says not roaming.
Then i took a backup and started using the same ROM from start (wiped data and cache). Roaming indicator started showing. But even after a week, the roaming is still there. It says roaming in phone info also.
Then I restored my old backup. There is no roaming in that same backuped ROM!! How is this possible? One ROM says not roaming( ROM i was using in my home) and other says roaming. even after several switching between then few times.
The thing I noticed is that in one rom, it says network as "BSNL Mobile" but in the other it is "Cellone". Both are same operator only ie mobile services of bsnl is cellone.
How does android detect roaming?
Can you explain why this is happening?
Which android package is responsible for network selection?
Can we manually select which signal channel of same operator to use?
How can i make other ROM also to show as not roaming?
This is the same case with my friend also. He is also using BSNL in Samsung Galaxy W. So i guess its android and network dependent.

Data Wont Get Connected to Roaming Operator after Update to CM 12.1

Hello,
I know i may be posting about Custom ROM in wrong section, but being a new member am not allowed to make post in Development thread.
Regarding issue, I installed Cyanogenmod 12.1 Build 17 ROM Yesterday. All went well. But am facing an issue with Data Connection
Am Using Reliance SIM Card and since am mostly on roaming and Reliance does not have 3g services in my roam location, i select Tata Docomo netwok for using 3G Data services. However after installing the New ROM, though am able to select Tata Docomo Network and make calls with same, Data does not work with it. To be clear i have Data Roaming On and am able to use 2G Data on Reliance Network.
I tried manually changing APN but it did not work either. Is it the bug with the ROM or am i missing something? May sound silly but is there any way to force start Data?
Note: Tata Docomo does have 3G issues. If 3G gets disconnected, you have to refresh network selecting either Docomo 2g or Reliance 2g network and then again selecting Docomo 3G. This method works with 100% hit Ration on stock ROM and even other devices like Micromax. Tried the same, but never worked on CM12.1
