Anybody know of an alternative to replace the glass cover on my camera. My fix works but the quality of my pictures is not great.

I'd suggest just getting your Tbolt replaced from Verizon as this was not your fault.
I tried they told me I would have to file s claim.

I've dropped mine a couple times, tossed it onto my desk, all sorts of fun caseless things...and yours just breaks while sitting in a cloth pocket?
Are you sure you're telling the whole story...?
Lol I had it in my pocket most of the day I'm not shure how it cracked. But I'm not worried about how, I want to fix it, any suggestions to how or where to get a lens .

i think your picture says enough.
sorry i wish i could help with a solution there but its a hardware problem
Geez stereotyped by my picture now .... What has xda come to.

ive never seen just a replacement lens. if verizon refuses to replace it, then try contacting HTC and see if they have a way of providing that part.
a cracked lens isnt a defect so any damage to it will be deemed 'your fault.' so verizon probably wont give you a new one :\ and if you dont have insurance then thats bad news. sorry dude
another option could be to take it to one of those ripoff-artist kiosks at the mall that replace cracked phone screens. their suppliers might have access to your part.
Thanks gohamstergo I have a call into a friend who works at a Verizon service center ( 300 miles away) to see if he can get me one from a damaged phone and also an xda member is checking his parts bin to see if something he has will work. Your pic proves don't judge a book by its cover.

Call em and tell them that your charge ports broken and it won't charge. They will replace. Usually with no questions lol. Always works for me

That will get you a $350 charge on your bill. New policy. And personally, I totally agree with it. If you send in a physically damaged phone the techs at the warehouse will take pictures as proof and send you a receipt for your new 'equipment charge'

That's what I figured..any who he was able to pull the lens from a phone they got that couldn't be repaired so no worries.

My phone has a spider web shape crack look on the screen. Phone is fully functional. Phone calls and data are fine too. I have no insurance. Any ideas on what I should do? I suppose I can get a free 3gs and use that until contract expires. Or pay $500 upfront for a new atrix too.

Just spend $40 on Ebay and get a new glass.
Get a replacemnt glass and fix yourself or get one used off craigslist.
I voided my warranty.

I've replaced my glass twice - it's pretty easy.
Here is the place I bought it from:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180688922991
and there are videos on ebay that are very detailed on the process
If you decide you don't want to repair it, let me know how much you want for it.

Yes it's really easy. There's tons of tutorials (video and ifixit instructions) I'll admit that the ifixit instructions make it look scary, lol. I'd just follow the video.
Thanks guys. I bought one from ebay for $32 and shipping from nyc. Gonna give it a crack. Pun intended.

UPDATE!
I borked my phone. I tore off the the orange triangle shaped ribbon thing. Like the other guy did. (I think it's the guy from Brazil or something.)
One of these?

I had mine broken a couple weeks ago. I searched on Craigslist inside service for ppl that replaces screen and it costed me $95 to have the screen replaced with a brand new one original one and I can't tell that it was ever replaced. It took them 1hour from the time I dropped of to get the service done.

I ebay'ed that part before and thought I could buy that too, but I'm on the fence about going through repairs again. It looks easy enough to replace the orange triangle though.
So my rez fell out of my coat pocket getting out of the car the other day. I have a replacement screen coming. Obviously taking it apart voids the warranty. If I don't do so and I have an issue not screen related do you think vzw would replace the whole phone and cover it under warranty.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
if they can tell you messed with it (missing warranty stickers, etc), then they probably won't cover it.
TEC through Verizon covers that kind of thing...its a great service.

The other night I stupidly hit a can of coke over onto my rez. I soaked it in rice and everything is functioning except for the proximity sensor and a mark that was caused by the liquid. The mark is getting larger constantly and now has most of my screen taken over. The touch screen still functions there but the mark is a gigantic nuisance. I also checked behind the battery and there isn't a sticker to detect water. So if there is no definite indicator that it was liquid damage should I take my phone to verizon, should I just cut my losses and buy an off contract phone, or should I just suck it up and deal with it?
Sent from my HTC Rezound using Tapatalk 2
There is supposed to be one on the edge of the battery itself, one in one of the screwholes of the red chassis cover, and one on the internal board near the headphone jack.
Make your own risk assessment based on the location of the liquid relevant to those areas, and know that sugar still may leave a telling residue after drying.
If there is no sticker, I would assume they would immediately think you removed it, thereby voiding your warranty. If they catch it after you've sent it in, you're SOL.

you can order a sticker to put on the phone look on amazon or ebay... I forgot what they are called
Use insurance if you got have it otherwise pony up the $$$.

I dropped my last rezound in the toilet.. it completely submerged and after grabbing it and trying to get the back cover off to pull the battery (with wet hands :/) as I'm sure you can imagine how long that took. After getting the battery out I let it sit in rice for 36hrs booted back up and had zero problems.. that being said when I returned my rezound for over heating issues over five months ago Verizon didn't/ still hasn't said anything about it. And i seriously doubt they'll pull part every rezound that got sent back. Especially of it boots up..

I had something similar happen with a thunderbolt. I had a bottle of snapple break open in my backpack, and it just doused my phone. I let it dry out, and it booted, then immediately hard bricked. Never breathed life into it again. I used the asurian warranty because the stickers were clean and you couldn't see water damage under the screen.

If he did and provided that he doesn't try and claim warranty which it seems like everyone enjoys going in situations like this where there is no proof. Although it's not exactly water damage as much as accidental but eh.

My S4 had the same problem. Took it to a repair guy who is comfortable taking the phones apart - it's a little gasket that looks like an o-ring that slips down in front of the camera - easy fix.
Good luck.
It's no longer water resistant once it's opened up too

If there's no visual damage to the outside and NO water damage you can just run it back and they'll replace it. Dont tell them you dropped it, just say you tried using it and all pictures look this way. Should be no questions asked and replace honestly. Sucks though.

Water damage HAS to be covered now since the phone is advertized as water resistant. Right?

Nope, if the back cover or charge port is not totally sealed and the indicator turns red, you'll pay your deductible or OOW fee.

Water resistant =/= waterproof
Thread cleaned of warranty fraud discussion...not on this site!!

I have the same issue with the front facing camera, only I never dropped mine. I started playing with the front camera on Friday and noticed a shadow along one side. At first, I thought this was some kind of filter I had accidentally applied. When I could not find a way to turn it off I thought maybe the top of my case was causing it. When I looked close, I saw that the top half of the camera was being blocked by this gasket. I took it to T-Mobile and they exchanged it as a manufacturer defect and I have a new one arriving today. Once the new on gets here I'll post some pics of the bad one.

Fair enough, but as stated directly following your message, someone had the same issue, took the phone in and was replaced under warranty so our previous talks prove factual, dropped or not this is a warranty issue, not fraudulent?
Either way I appreciate the work you do to keep this place tidy, thanks man.

I sure try... Thanks. The difference with the post after mine is the phone was never dropped. Warranty is for defects. Insurance is for accidental damage or bricking your phone. My statement was meant for just that, if you do drop it then responsibility should be taken and it is not proper to ask here if you can get away with getting it fixed under warranty.
Cheers
Kenny
Here are the pics I mentioned. Hopefully this does not turn into a widespread issue.
Front camera.
I have the same issue, didn't drop my phone. But the oring has shifted in front of the camera. Im wondering if I send it in if they'll fix it or just send a new one? Because I have a spigen glas.tr screen guard on it and I don't want to be out the money on it. I'd prefer they just fixed it.

Front camera defect
Hi guys! I just joined this site to share my problem with my new Galaxy S5.
It's been weeks since i got my new phone from T-Mobile. I love it! It's a expensive phone so a good cellphone case is a must. I have a case and screen protector to protect my device. Suddenly, I just found out the same problems you had with your phones. I've never dropped mine either. So I think it's gonna be a manufacturer defect. Something is blocking the front camera. Again, I never dropped my phone, it doesn't have any scratches on the screen and any dents on its body.
I went to my network provider and ask for help about this issue. They sent me a replacement phone (Galaxy S5) after 3 days then I sent over to them the defective one. They said that it depends on the manufacturer/service tech if the phone defect is under warranty or not. I'm still waiting for them to check the phone. Or else I'm gonna be charge $175 out of warranty fee!
I'll attach pictures of my previous Galaxy S5. I hope this is not a widespread problem. Share your thoughts too! Thanks!
