Hi there. I just got a P500 from work and noticed it still has Froyo which i can not stand (even my old Milestone has Gingerbread thanks to Kaldaban and CM 7.1).
In my country (Argentina) there is still no official 2.3 update. What 2.3.x custom rom would you recommend that offers stability and battery life? (remember, it's my work phone, i can not f*ck it up!).
Thanks!

well, oxygen ROM is best gingerbread IMO
But, I still like devoid froyo final - it's most stable, bugfree, and best battery life
There are basically 3 main ones. CM, phoenix, and oxygen. IMO they are all good and just depends on ur taste.

Hey guys im a Newbie here and Im thinking about buying Ace and thus would like to ask some questions about it first..
If I upgrade the firmware to the latest KPH 2.3.4 are there any problems in that firmware?
If I want to revert back to original Froyo then is it possible? If yes then where can i download the original Firmware?
Is 384 amount of Ram sufficient?I mean are there any lags or hiccups if many apps are running?
Is the 800Mhz CPU fast enough i mean is the UI snappy under it?
Are there any Custom ROMS available for Ace?If Yes which one is the fastest/snappiest?
That will be all
Thank You
The 2.3.4 update has small wifi bugs.
You could revert to 2.2 froyo with a flashtool and the firmware is provided in Samfirmware.com
The ram is good in froyo but in gingerbread there're appkills in background when you play games.
800mhz is quite snappy but if you're big on performance then you'll have to go for expensive phones like galaxy s or s2, nexus, or htc high-ends.
The development section of the phone is rather young so custom roms are not that far from stock firmware as yet, but the phone has potential. If you're looking for a medium-spec phone this may be a good choice.
Thank me if I helped in any way in your decision

Ohkay thanks for a early reply
So Froyo is lighter compared to Gingerbread?
And is Code.ROMv1 good rom?
What about Villian Rom?
are these faster compared to KPH?

Coderom is great mainly because of the darktremor app2sd support, extending the memory for app download. Villianrom is lightweight so I guess it should be faster than stock KPH..
I'll still prefer stock froyo if not for the app2sd support in coderom (am using that now)
hey all.
Any suggestions for a very stable ROM(Gingerbread) for the Lg Optimus one?
Cant seem to find one
(Send Me a Link)
Void Forever with franco 18.1 kernel...the most stable one.
hit thanks button if i helped you..
do you want actual gingerbread or like... mik's cm7 gingerbread?
mik's is 1000x better than any actual gingerbread Rom, here's the link to that one,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
but if you really want a REAL gingerbread Rom than i think GingerLOL is a decent one...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118685
I'm running mik's cm7 6.5.5 as you can see in my signature, and it's 1000x more stable and more efficient than any stock LG Rom, even the... modded ones.

I think u have never used any other GB rom other than miks.
I have used almost all GB roms and i feel that all of them are more or less the same.

Yes, they are all relatively the same but mik's is more stable in my opinion. With constant updates it really is a killer rom.

No point of comparing mik's rom to any other GB rom.
I too prefer mik's CM7 while my second opinion would go for void #forever. Try both, you won't regret

If you're looking for a STABLE gingebread rom with the OLD baseband the best shot will be sure mik's rom... If you have the NEW baseband GINGERLOL i guess would be the best shot...

What about the black screen bug? Or have you been lucky enough not to be affected by that? Because I was getting that ALL the time, including with different kernels.
Try OneDroid. Very stable, no black screen bug and good battery!!!

Mike 6.5. Most stable with Franco kernel

I'd really like to use mik's rom, but last I checked it didn't support bluetooth calling. If that means you can't use a bluetooth headset to talk on the phone, then it's a no-go for me since I need to be able to talk while driving. So does mik's rom still prevent that?
i tried void. #forever 2.3.4 by Noejn, but the data stopped working. Not sure if it was because of the rom. I did a full factory reset and now I like:
Mik's CM7 v6.6
Kernel: Franco-2.6.35.13v1GINGERBREAD38
For a more powerful ROM, mik's one is better. But it you want a practically bugless ROM, better try GingerLOL 1.5. I personally prefer GingerLOL because of the low battery drain and its stability, as it is based on the official ROM. Although I used to recommend mik's work for more performance, I actually concluded with due usage that both ROMs perform smoothly and without any lag at all.
For Kernel if ever you're going with GingerLOL, use Paolo Kernel instead of franco's one, zero bug in this one.
I would like to try Mike's rom but if data doesn't work i don't see the point of using a smartphone
I am currently on gingerlol 1.5 and am very satisfied with its performance and stability.
Do you know if there are any major differences between void#forever and ginger lol?

void is based on CM7 and gingerlol is based on official v20c... Come on, is quite the same though...
My Stable,Fast Rom is mik's CM7 v6.6 + Franco 2.6.35.13 GINGERBREAD39 + Old Baseband (Downgrade baseband cuz needed data )
SO far I tested GingerLOL and now I am testing CriccoROM 1.1
GingerLOL feels more laggy than stock official untouched ROM with froncokernel. Also got less points in benchmark test.
CriccoROM runs smooth but I have battery drain in iddle, 1-2% battery/hour from the usual 0.4-0.6% battery/hour.
I think Mike´s rom is good choice.
Is Mik's rom still unable to let you talk on your bluetooth earpiece?
I'm about to get a X10 from a friend of mine, and was curious about what the best rom/kernel for the phone is.
So far it looks like cyanogen mod 7.0 is going to be the best thing I could flash it with, but it kinda bugs me that the camera doesn't work 100%.
I'm also hearing that 2.3 will be officially released soon, but knowing how my carriers usually operate with updates that will be 3 months till I see that.
Whats the closest thing to a vanilla android experience with full functionality?
or what Rom/Kernel are you using and why?
Wolfbreaks 009 isnt quite vanilla but is my favorite thus far. Has some new ported gingerbread features from achotjan and it's speed is unreal. I use it with the 3.62 kernel by goro, doomlords, and zkernel are all amazing. Just amazing all around, and if not that use erickwill's 2.1 ROM. When gingerbread comes out the camera drivers will be ported to gingerbread ROMs so you shouldnt worry about not getting a working 2.3 ROM
good to know.
If you're looking for some extra speed, take a look at Power To The People kernel. Overclocked to 1.2GHz, but might cause some instability, and fry the device if used for a long time.
I wouldn't want to overclock.
I don't see the point in doing it on smartphones, especially when the battery life is already low.
Right now im leaning towards cyanogen or ultima 4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095637
just finished rooting it, now im running titanium backup.
Then for kernel you might want to check out zKernel-failsafe, no overclock, no underclock. Stable and fast. The stock kernel is slow.
Just testeds both Wolf's and Ultima 5... got some tiny issues with 3G band on Ultima and I wasnt able to open the NFS Drift Game in both of them...
Tryed CM7 + custom Kernel with a good response, all of this using BB 67. The only trouble I got with CM7 was the slow response from GPS...
I might go back to Stock Eclair + custom Kernel till the update comes out...

I was looking at the CM7 Rom but was afraid that everything would be slow/laggy on the xperia.
Which GB Rom out there currently has most stable GPS and battery life? I know of the few GB roms out there like Simply, i9000 ports, and Juwe 6.0, but which one nails the best on your own experience?

CM7.1
I've been running nightly 157 since it was built. Runs flawlessly.
I too would like everyone's opinions on this.
I've been using CM 7.1 since it's "stable" release, it runs great and I'm a long-time CM user. But it's not without it's faults; 911 dialing is broken, when toggling the GPS the phone won't go to sleep and the battery drains.
Plus, CM has removed the Vibrant from it's list of supported devices. Nobody on the CM development team currently owns a Vibrant and there doesn't seem to be much hope that it will change.
MiUi. Yes 911 dialing doesn't work on this rom either, but otherwise it works great. Good battery life as well.
Phiremod cm7 excellent everything especially battery life I charge it every two days

in my opinion miui with the platypus kernel is the most stable gb rom. But thats comparing roms that aren't final.
What about Juwe 6.0? Anyone been using that?

I am using NIGHTLYFOURE its goods but is there any other rom which is better except oxygen bcoz it requires themeing n i dont want that
perfect peso and btw wrong section...
In my opinion the best is NightlyFourE
NightlyFourE and PerfectPeso are useless to you if you are a T-Mobile customer. These roms use the new v20 baseband, which will give you NO DATA (3G) as a T-Mobile customer, even if you upgrade your phone to the new baseband.
Stick with Mik's CM7.

I just followed the guide ( a lil scary while doing it for the first time.... but its easy took 3 min to go each way (old -> new ... new -> old))
I am here in southern california... and i will say that the newbaseband WORKS FINE on the tmobile network with a rom that works with the newbaseband (i tested with the latest cm nightly 18) ... i DID NOT notice any increase in signal strength. And i DID NOT test in multiple areas.... just tested around the house...
But needless to say newbaseband CAN WORK on tmobile network.
After it all i went back to the old.... as thats what my nice rom is on.

Still though my personal favorite is CyanogenMMatt V1.1 ( mik_os 6.5.7 deodex'd, and tweaked ) w/ fserve golden leaf LG kernel, w/ nemus launcher.... smooth fast, great battery life... and most important of all... STABLE.
I say NightlyFourE, till now at least... but i am waiting for CM9, MIUI and IOSdroid to be fully operational.... I think IOSdroid will come soon
I vote for adaf cm7 A8, I have been using since the first version and it is perfectly stable, good performance and battery life with fserve goldenleaf LG kernel (using 748 MHz on overclock).

Perfect Peso:
I used the old version. Great Performance and Battery Life.
I haven't used the v2.2 yet.
MIUI v4.0:
Great UI. Good Performance. Drains battery really fast.
But what would you expect from a still incomplete ROM.
IOSDroid (current ROM):
I just installed this now. UI is slick. Performance and Battery are good as well.
Although I had problem when restoring my Call Logs and Messages Backup. The launcher FCs all the time after I restore those data.
Final Verdict: Depends upon your preference/use of your device.
If you want good battery life, opt for more stable ROMS.
If im not mistaken the new PP has the latest nightly which has funny sim so tmobile users do get working mobile data...im a tmobile usa user on v20g..im using blackbird and battery life is amazing but i miss roms with working camera exposure levels and the drawback to blackbird is default kernel only has two governors but all frequencies. I have attempted to use different kernels but none of them give me working data
