Does anyone know of a way to prevent the wifi from restarting itself. I am having the data connection issue and turn wifi off but it is back on again a little while later.
Are you using any battery/app management apps? Greenpower?
No battery management app and even after a factory reset I did yesterday for a different issue, it is still happening.
Bump... Any ideas>
can you describe the problem a bit more please ?

I have the same problem with mine. Wifi keeps restarting or sometimes hangs at authenticating. Very frustrating and makes wifi connection completely unreliable. I dont have any battery management app or no task manager either except for default one that came with Atrix. I use inbuilt battery app in "nighttime saver" mode thou.

I will turn wifi off through settings and later, sometimes minutes, sometimes hours, I will notice that it has restarted. This is without reboot. At first I deleted all the previous connections, but it still did this. I have even done a hard reset, flashed back to stock and I continue to have this issue. When it is on I have the data connection issue seen on multiple forums where I have to reboot my phone to get a data connection back (not calls, no sms, no email). This happens even though I have never reset up any wifi locations.
Any other specific questions?
BTW, I have the battery saver that came on the phone in performance mode.
try this to see if it helps. go to settings>wireless and networks>wifi settings> press settings button> advanced> turn wifi sleep policy to never.
maybe that will stop it from turning off.
I actually want it to STAY off when I turn it off. I would love to have it on sometimes but since that crashes my data connection, I want to keep it off for now til the fix for that is out.
Also, it seemed worse before I installed GingerBlur, but it still happens, just less often.

Did you flash the new radio after going to 2.3.4?

May or may not help!
I flashed att pudding full 183 then cherryblur 0.5d...I don't think that either of those flashed new radio...
I believe I have N_01.77.15P now...going to update to latest version.
I believe this only affects the cellular radio, but I after doing some research it seems if you are going to be on 2.3.4 you should upgrade to this one..

Trying to figure out if this is just me or what: Using Paranoid Android on my evoLTE and I'm fnding that sometimes when I'm playing audio either from Google Play Music of Doggcatcher and go to another app the audio app in question just gets killed. Sometimes its immediate, sometimes it takes a minute. Normally they should play in the background complete with a play/pause button in the notification tray but instead they die without even a force close message.
My guess is that the ROM in question is being way overly aggressive with task killing and I was wondering if this is Jelly Bean in general or the specific ROM. Is there a way to keep audio apps in memory?
Happened during a drive though this time with Google Navigation. I was at a red light and switched to my podcasting app and Navigation got killed in the background moments later. Is anyone else seeing this happen?

It's the goddamn HTC sense task manager... This is why multi tasking doesn't work well (or sometimes at all) on our phone
Oh wait just noticed your on a custom Rom. Same idea though. Best to ask the dev too.

Android will automatically kill an app when you need more resources to run another. If you switch through a bunch of apps and neglect the music app, android might kill the process. If you are using a third party music app, some have the option of keep the thread a priority and can keep android from killing it

But I'm not skipping through apps. Today I switched from Navigation to Doggcatcher and Navigation died when it should have stayed in the background and in the notification tray. I hit play in Doggcatcher, went back to Navigation, got that on a route again and then a few minutes later Doggcatcher stopped playing and was removed from the notification tray. It doesn't happen pften but it happens enough where it becomes quite annoying.
Is anyone having issues with the Google Now notifications? On my last phone, I would get notifications for flights, and games on days my teams are playing.
one the HOX+ I have everything configured the same way, but I don't get the notifications. I only see the info if I launch google now/search.
Did you try rebooting the phone. I posted an issue I have seen that location services does not seem to activate properly all the time if you turn it off and on. If you reboot the phone it should ask to accept Google location services immediately click accept and it should work.

Were you previously on ICS? On JB certain notifications "hide" till you pull down the notification bar. Things like weather and traffic typically aren't visible at the top till you pull notifications down. But I remember when using the "massaged" Google Now app on ICS, they would appear up at the top. For a while after upgrading to JB on my Inspire I thought something was broken, but it turned out it's normal for some notifications to not be visible at the top all the time.
No idea if this describes your problem, but if you came from ICS to JB, there are a few changes to how the app operates.
I didn't know google now was available on ICS... In my case, it's always been on JB.
On my last phone, I would get a notification in the morning of the day that any sports team I configured is playing. It would say which team is playing, and what time the game in the local time zone of wherever I am...I don't get that on the HOX+ unless I open the google app
I wonder has anyone else felt having a stand-alone alarm on the Gear Fit would be useful using vibration as a wake-up. I really enjoy using the watch as a wake-up device and I know you can set your phone to a silent alarm so it essentially wakes you up by the vibration. But sometimes my phone battery dies during the night or sometimes I want to set a quick day time alarm when I don't have my phone around. The timer I think only goes up to 99 minutes.
Maybe this is only strange to me but not having a built in alarm on the phone seems an oversight. I had the same issue with the Gear 1 and tried a few aftermarket apps such as Zen alarm but found on the phone they often didn't have the alert until hours after it was meant to.
I know these watches are companion devices to a phone but they do include some apps that make sense to have on the phone such as timer, pedometer etc. Always wonder why not an alarm as well.
Agree 100%

the problem is, there are no real apps for gear fit only app connections that are in need of the phone to work.
So what you are suggesting with the standalone alarm won't work if your phone is not connected via bluetooth.
Maybe someday it will be possible to include apps in the firmware but i wouldn't wait for it.(since there isn't much free space)
Best way would be to tell samsung directly in boards or customer support or whatever if they could include a standalone alarm.
Like they listen

Good morning everyone. I also am interested in having the alarm on the Gear Fit, because as the partner says above, if we run out of battery in the phone, or even if the Bluetooth connection is lost no would sound us the alarm, and I see no logical we will put both mobile Vibrate as bracelet at a time.
That said I do not understand because if you can make a calculator application, or one in which the screen turns on and then torch, not to have to create multiple alarms. I'm not saying having a hundred but 2 or 3 alarms at a minimum I think is not much to ask.
I think it's the only thing missing from the bracelet. Anyone know where I can get environment or any program to program applications for Gear? I'm looking and looking to try to create an application and see if we can somehow create if only an alarm.
Regards and forgive the inconvenience.

There should be a better timer and a better stopwatch!! they only go to 99 and that is pretty anoying. I'm thinking someone should also do one of those interval apps, the gear fit is perfect for it so you don't have to be carrying the galaxy device into the gym (which I hate). And of course a standalone alarm with multiple configurations, I can leave with setting it up in the device itself.
Guys, I have come here just to look for such an application. Any developments yet? It seems our device is half baked and using only a small portion of its potential.

yes. the most app I want is an alarm!!!
This sounds like a no-brainer, but the SDK (as I understand it) really only allows an app to respond to touch input and the phone via BT. There's no access to the native clock. I plan on looking into it, pretty much just to tinker, because I lost my fitbit and BT8010, and this was a much less expensive replacement (used). I've got a class to finish, and a kid to raise, so it might not be timely. Don't expect much.
This little guy really does have potential. It's a crying shame the software development didn't support it. Really, Samsung's pretty software sucks like no other manufacturer I've ever seen. And I'm WinMo-3.0 old.

a vibrating alarm for gear fit!
There isnt a need for a stand alone alarm, atm its not possible. The Gear Fit isnt designed to have apps loaded on it, just on the phone & used via bluetooth.
I think an Ideal solution to this would be an Alarm App that can be downloaded as usual to the phone, and accessed on the Gear Fit.
For the Alarm to be 100% silent on the Phone (with no vibration either) but to vibrate on the Gear Fit - the settings for the alarm could be edited either on the phone or via the 'App Connect' feature on the Gear Fit....
I think this would give the solution people are wanting???

You can do this with the built in Alarm (via the Clock app) on your phone. Just make sure Alarm is checked under Instant Alerts in the Gear Fit Manager. You can even dismiss or snooze directly from the Gear Fit.
How do you get it to appear in the instant alerts? I only see incoming calls

Working Alarm for Gear Fit
Just recently got rid of my FitBit and got a Gear Fit but had the same question as you. I tried the different alarm apps and tried to us the Gear Fit Manager app to make them function.
Lo and behold! I did not have to get an app as the Clock app already loaded with my Samsung S5 works just fine. Just set your alarm on this Clock app, go to your Gear Fit Manager app, then go to Notification. Scroll down to Instant Alerts for Gear: 3 and put a check mark on Alarm. Voila!
Of course, I did a test first and yes, my Gear Fit vibrates with the alarm at the exact time NOT an hour later like the Sleep as Android app.
Hi,
its possible prolong time in countdown app ??? i cant set on 90 min. If it´s possible we can use this app like alarm.
I'm using the Mate 10 Pro.
I listen to Spotify in my car. Right now every time I enter my car, I have to start up Spotify on my phone, which is quite annoying. On my previous phone (Mate 7), I could add Spotify to the "Protected Apps" and it wouldn't shut down anymore.
Is there a way to solve it in Mate 10 Pro/Oreo 8.0.0/EMUI 8.0.0?
So far I have:
- Added Spotify to "Ignore Battery Optimization" (Status: "allowed")
- In Launch, I deactivated "Manage automatically" and set all three option active (Auto-launch / Secondary launch / Run in Background)
I don't know what else to do. Any help appreciated!
The stock music player app takes precedence over spotify and others. So if there is any sample music on your phone, it will try to launch that first. Maybe remove any locally stored music and try again.

Thanks, but I already did that. I removed all rights from the "Music" player and deleted all files in the same folder. I created a new folder, named it "My Music", so since then (about 1 month ago) the default Music player has not played anything anmore That's good so far. My issue is really just that it shuts down Spotify.
I noticed that when I'm at work. Maybe another hour later, I still see the Spotify icon on top of the screen, so it wasn't shut down. But sometimes later during the day, it's suddenly gone. So when I'm back in the car, I need to start the app again.
I also tried to hit the "open apps" button (the one next to the home button), then clicked the lock icon. But didn't help either.
I dont use spotify throughout the entire day, but usually as long as I wasn't playing a random video or gif online just before entering my car, spotify will start back up.
I cant say that it runs in the background all the time when not in use. Its like my car triggers it to re-open when it reconnects to bt.
I have a mazda 3 though, all cars seem to act different for BT connectivity.
The thing is, if I leave my car to go shopping or something quick and I get back in my car, it works perfectly fine.
Therefore by my logic, I can rule out the BT of my car. When this happens as explained before, the Icon still remains on top in the notification bar.
So, I guess in the end, for some reason my phone just shuts down Spotify.
Anyway, thanks for your input.
I Have the same problem with VPN App it work fine in background but After a while the App Closed Why?
Having a similar problem with VPN app and also with Youmail visual voicemail. No notification of new voicemails until I open the app. Any ideas? I also set to ignore battery optimization and launch manually.
You need to deactivate the battery settings of the app.

That doesn't help. Apps still shut down in background.
FWIW, I have noticed that battery optimization (Launch in settings) changes can be hit or miss. Some apps perform as set. For instance, I have some items set to manage automatically and they seem to stop when I want them to. However apps like Facebook when Set to manage manually and run in background is off, it does not stop. Other apps set this same way will be stopped. Not really sure how it works actually.
