Phone Bricked - Motorola Photon 4G

My phone just bricked, It won't turn on or charge, I have the TEP plan, will they repair it

Yes for $100 deductable. Easy online process to do. Might be able to take to sprint repair center and if they can't fix they may replace it.

The phone didn't brick....but the 3G is messed up major with a looping Connection Network - I called them this morning and they were able to get the phone working on 4G and Wifi. I cannot download my profile or PRL.

One thing is you can call sprint and have them manually push your profile by logging in with your msl code but what I would suggest now is getting rsdlight and flashing the stock moto build or take it in to a sprint store that has repair. They with out a doubt will be able to get it reflashed or give you a new one on the spot

I flashed a fresh build twice before calling sprint

Please don't act dumb, I as a tech would rather you tell me straight up... then at least I'm willing to work with you... otherwise when I find a rooted unlocked phone and you didn't tell me up front I will just void your warranty and once I do that your only option is insurance...
Then again not all reps are like me...

No Worry i didn't act dumb plus the guy did 2 factory resets infront of me and still couldn't get it activated so he is calling me in a hour and is currently fixing it...he asked if i broke it when I rooted and unrooted it.....which is weird because it wouldn't of broke like that for a root. It was a pure activation issue that could of been fixed by pushing out the profile, but even then this guy didn't even know about the Boot Menu Air Plane Work around even I suggested to the guy that.
Edit - Ok, the guy never could figure out how to access the key pad, so there giving me a replacement

I had the same thing happen to me..I was messing around with prl stuff
Even if I did a reset with clockwork it would do the same thing
Get ur msl and do a factory reset then flash the latest sbf with rsdlite and u should be good to go

So need I guys to help me make a decision

My evo gets horrible and i mean horrible data speeds consistently 300kb or less on both upload and download.
I know it's a common problem. And i figured it was like when the first evo came out that it would fix itself. but it hasn't I have done prl updates and all but still no improvement. should i return it and just get a replacement in a couple days or should I try sprint trouble shooting. I never had speeds this bad with me OG evo, and my wife's epic is fine also....
Any recommendations? I would prefer not to mess with the phone, and i just want it to work outa the box.

You can edit it if you'd like. Just select to edit your first post, and you should be able to scroll all the way up and change it.
EDIT: Also, I don't have a good suggestion to your problem if you don't really want to mess around with it. Did you already try the known 'fixes' for that issue? Perhaps try calling Sprint and see if they can do a reset on your data profile or something to that nature. I know you said you don't want to mess with it, and you'd prefer if it worked out of the box, so perhaps calling Sprint is the best bet if you're not feeling like messing around with it.
Had the same problem with my evo, went to a sprint store, the rep that helped me had the same phone that he said he got weeks before the official release, when we tried to do a speed test his was around 300 (the 3g g in this area is really bad) while mine was 30-50, at the same place same time. so he sent it back to the techs, they said everything was fine, so he just exchanged it for me (30 days exchange), no restocking fee or any of these sort of things. so I recommend you exchanging the phone (unless you are not in the 30 days) then i would send it through warranty.
good luck
Thanks today is my last day though i ordered it online so I can't into a store.
I'm ginna try the fixes. And then I'm gonna tryba verizon prl like I had on my evo. Though I lose txt message accuracy if I do tyat....
Thanks for the suggestions.

Go there and tell them about the horrible data speeds and ask for a data reset. they will re provision your account and that should help...doing the proxy removal hack might help too...did for me...

Also try the prl hack to gain 3g roaming access on Verizon's towers. You'll need qpst and your msl.

[Q] Has anyone had problems returning to Sprint after HTCdev unlock?

I'm wondering if anyone has been denied a return. Does sprint check the bootloader for *Tampered* or *Re-locked*?
I really want to start flashing roms but there is the possibility that I won't keep the phone.
Just relock your bootloader and run ruu. Then it will be acceptable. At least that's what I had to do after I showed up at the store all rooted and everything.

Well my power button was in the fritz the first day. Unfortunately the Regional HTC was at my local Sprint. Guess what he did? That's right. Booted into the bootloader. Why. I have no frikken clue. All the reps were amazed by what I did to the Dr ice so soon. Even another local sprint about 5 miles away found out (a friend of mine that works there told me) I was pretty pissed that I went in there to exchange it out and he booted Into that. O asked him for what reason, but he seriously had no clue what the f**k he was talking about. Honest to god. I'm mean, I'm sure he was just a sales Rep for HTC. But damn. When he seen that Tampered sign and when he also booted into TWRP, he was like "jeez, android in gone. Why did you do that?" LOL. So, o talked to one of my girl friends from Sprint, she's gonna hook me up. But I wad so shocked that he did that, all over me ha ing an issue with my power button. That was the first for me. Thank is god tha issue I had was due to a couple of apps .or allowing my phone to sleep correctly. Ahh well

I exchanged mine yesterday after with it relocked and still rooted with no issues.
Well to be fair a bad kernel could affect the power button. Maybe he thought you were flashing kernel ports or something
Thanks for the response guys!! I'm gonna unlock now!

It's hard to check if the bootloader was unlocked when you have a broken screen. (wink wink)

Do not go to a corp store go to a retail store that does repairs they need to order one which is two days and they take the old one. No way there are refubs yet.

Well that is good to know. I'm waiting for mine to charge so I can activate, but hopefully everything checks out. I'm glad to know that relocking and going back to stock seems to take care of CS issues.

I got a phone that was previously rooted and keeps rebooting

Ok so I had a international galaxy note that was a little beat up and I wanted a new evo lte. So I posted a ad on Craig's list to sell the note or trade for a new evo. A guy hit me up to trade today and we met and did a trade. Well the evo seemed to be working fine at first. But now it keeps freezing and rebooting. I did a factory reset to see if that solved the problem, and when the phone rebooted I saw a splash screen that said team winning. So I think the guy tried to root and messed something up. Is there a quick and easy way to flash or back to normal without bricking it ? or should I just claim it gets stolen, pay the deductible and get a new one? Any help on getting this back to stock would be great. It's in great condition but literally freezes and reboots every few mins.
Look in the dev section for the ruu.

Well what you are saying is insurance fraud and don't think you can talk about that here.
I would flash a stock ruu if I were you and test your luck. At the end of the day you bought/traded from a 3rd party that was not retail and have to deal with your own decisions.

See if.u have a recovery installed by turning the phone off and loading into the bootloader by pressing and holding power + volume down at the same time..if so I guess u could attempt to unroot with a stock ruu
Didn't mean to mention the insurance thing if talking about that is against the rules. My apologies. When I enter recovery the teamwin recovery screen comes up. Also at the top of the phone it says unlocked and tampered or something like that. So should I just try to flash the stock rui? And are the instructions in the dev section? Thanks for all the help guys. I have flashed stock roms on my og evo and my evo 3d but never a custom Rom.
You can't flash an RUU. Just flash a regular ROM and see how your phone works.

Ok. How would I be able to tell if the phone is rooted? Like I said when I go into recovery it says tampered and then unlocked. Does that mean it's rooted? And if so can I just load a stock rom on it ? or should I watch the how to uproot video and run the rui? Thanks in advance for the help.
Edit. I need to edit cause im not going to help you commit insurance fraud

Tampered means rooted, Unlocked means bootloader is unlocked. Just load another ROM zip on SD card and flash it in recovery after doing factory reset, cache wipe and davlik wipe. Might be OK after that.
Thanks for all of your help. I will try to run the ruu or flash another rom after work today. I really like the phone and hope that that fixes the problem. Thanks again.
Use TEP on that. I have done that with my past ebay/craigslist phones with no problem. I bought them and then they ended up having hardware issues a few weeks or months after I bought them. When Sprints' techs ask me where I got the phone, I tell them Craigslist or eBay. One of them told me "That's pretty smart" when I explained how I bought a used phone and put TEP on it.
One of the reasons I love TEP is they don't care where the phone comes from! :good: :good:
If you can verify the power cycling while a service tech is present you shouldn't even need to pay a deductible
I would flash the Superwipe than any ROM of your choice. I like Stock with Goodies.
Just get a ruu and run it from your pc. That will get you back to complete stock. Use it stock and see if any issues come back up. If they still do then worry about fixing it. But I think you should be good after ruu
Thanks everyone for the help
I installed and flashed mean Rom and that seems to have cleared up the problem. Thank you to everyone who helped. I think I'll run this rom and see how I like it. if I have any problems with it I'll just go get the ruu and run it. I read in the forums that I have to relock the bootloader before I can run the ruu. How do I relock it? Thanks again.
I believe it's from adb:
Fastboot oem lock
Stop me if im wrong, but from what I read you could only add TEP within 30 days of a newly upgraded line. So im not quite sure how you ended up adding TEP on a use phone without a line upgrade.

Whenever I have bought phones outright or from off the net they have always just transfered my insurance from the line that I activate the phone on. I had a Palm Pre and bought the og evo from Sprint for full price. They simply transferred the insurance. As soon as I activatedthis Lte evo I got a message saying my tep went up from 8 to 11 dollars. And when I talked to the rep she said that the insurance transfered over.
Unfortunately I have to take this phone to the repai center tomorrow. I loaded mean rom on it and it worked great for 20 mins. Then it got stuck on Chrome and the screen wouldn't turn off. I came home relocked the phone, ran the ruu, and unrooted the phone. Still randomly reboots and resets itself. The guy at the sprint store said if they can't repair it and there is no sign of physical damage or water damage they will just give me a new one.
Yeah insurance transfers to a new device even if it's not "new"

I use to have that problem on one of my older sprint phones.
I hated it. I understand why they do it but at the same time it's our mins, who cares!
Anyway you could try a custom rom.
I am fairly sure it's the phone and not the network side itself so may be something in stock rom doing it.
I can't flash rom because can't clear my damn google wallet until it's fixed and don't want to risk it trying to work around.

[Q] Error code 1233 when updating profile/prl

Last night I decided to try to update my prl through the updater in Sense and I got an error code 1233. Called sprint tech support and spent an hour trying to get it fixed. The tech ended up just sending me a new phone, which a huge buzz kill because I've had hboot 1.12 since the beginning with s-off. Was running toasted-deck from irc, and I don't know if that had anything to do with my phone getting screwed up so I figured I'd ask if anyone else has had this problem? I want to unlock this new phone when I get it too, and I'm really going to miss TD if this is a common problem.
I got the same thing while trying to update my firmware.

I was getting this too. I had to run an errand up to another major city north of where I live. While there, I figured I'd give it a shot again, and it worked there. If you get the opportunity, try running it in a different area from where you tried.

Unfortunately I did try in a few different areas. I live in Cincinnati and go to school in Dayton, but got the same error in both places. I really wonder how this even happened because I never had a problem running AOSP on my OG EVO so I don't think that could be it.
I had this happen on my 3D and when it did work it only connected to Verizon....weird I know and even the tech couldn't believe but I did a data reset on it and never had that problem again.

I had the same problem a few days ago. I was Running CM10 and switched over to Stock w/ Goodies to update my PRL and Profile so i can take advantage of LA's new LTE network but i kept getting that error. I ended up unrooting and relocking my phone and restored to complete stock after that it updated fine the first time. I doubt being rooted prevents you from updating either the PRL or Profile.
I was getting the same error code at work. I googled the code ansomeone said it was a connection problem. I believe this because I never get a good signal at work. When I got home my prl updated. I'm on meanrom.
Easy Fix
Turn off WiFi and LTE radio (CDMA only) and try it. You should be able to update the PRL and Profile.
As "zAcHcOmA" mentioned, I also gave them a Thanks for it.. I had the same issue with "Error Code 1233".
My problem started when I noticed every incoming call I tried to answer thru the Handset would basically act as if I missed the call. Seems I didn't have an issue answering through Blue Tooth though. Not exactly sure what is causing this. I'll keep an eye on it after updating my PRL & Profile. Anyways, I did the following and was able to update both PRL & Profile..
1. Make sure Wireless is off
2. Set network to by going to Settings - Mobile Data - Network Mode "CDMA only"
3. I was then able to update both PRL & Profile through System Updates and I then rebooted my phone.
I'll now find out if my issue is resolved or if I still have on going issues.
