Hey guys as the topic says anytime I change my kernel my wifi won't connect and its frustrating I've done full wipes and reflashed my Rom and I still can't get it to work
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Make sure you flash kernels with CWR. I know people who were using kernel manager to flash were having problems with wifi connecting, but that was a while ago so it may be fixed by now.

How did you flash and what baseband are you running? I did a factory reset, flashed stock recovery, flashed stock 354 rom, flashed streakmod recovery, flashed 1.9.1, then did a Dell factory reset. Sounds worse than it really is. I haven't experienced your problem (nor other problems posted by other users) and can only assume that flashing over a fresh stock rom install in some way helps.
Did a cursory test of wifi tethering and it seems to work fine.
Paired my old iphone 3g and browsed a bit and no hitches.
Have you tried doing a factory reset? Installing streakdroid leaves all data in place so reinstalling is only half of it

Im pretty sure did the same thing more or less.. i forgot to mention that it used to work until i tried to create a password for users to connect, upon trying to change or enable a wep code, the activity crashed and since then, it gave me errors everytime i try to enable tethering...

I've searched the forum for a sollution to no avail and since I can't post this in the actual ZMOD 003 thead (low post count) I was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem?
When I start up the Wifi on my X10 I am just met with "Error".
I've reflashed and fully re-installed the .71 baseband, ROM and 003 update and this had happened each time (after first phone reboot I think).
I'm otherwise really pleased with the ROM (full camera, 6+ days battery, etc), is there a sollution?
SOLVED: Downgrade busybox to 1.17.1 (re-install by the andriod installer back to the older version) and reboot.
Assuming you have a custom kernel ... After flashing the cm7 zmod rom, try flashing the wifi modules to match your kernel, then reboot phone and wifi should work.
Had this problem on a few of the roms I've tried, got into the habit of installing the wifi modules immediately after installing any rom I try, before rebooting into the new rom for the first time.

u can also try it with static ip.

It's not that it won't connect but the Wifi won't turn on no matter what I try. I've tried this anyway but with no sucess.

Ok thats sounds like some good advice. Noob question but where could I get the wifi modules for zdzihu's custom kernel? Or do you mean flash the default wifi modules? Also do I just install them through xrecovery, I'm a little lost?
Seems like I'm not the only one having this problem:

help anyone, im lost without my wifi.
edit:
Busybox seems to be the issue, I downgraded from 1.19.2 (i think) back to 1.17.1 and the wifi went straight back to working on reboot.
Problem seems to be solved, for now. I now have the perfect ROM.
my wifi worked for awhile then stopped connecting. tried wiping cache/davlik 3 times. tried re-installing the rom. i nandroided back to an older version which wifi worked before and now it doesn't. tried flashing a different rom no success. tried flashing a different kernal anthrax b-02 via recovery no success so i tried flash gui image app in the market. all with no luck. im on h-boot 1.40.
my 4g connects just not my wifi. if anybody can help it would greatly be appreciated.

The 4G and WiFi drivers are stored in the same directory. Generally, if one is not working due to a mismatch with the kernel, the other one will not work either.
Since you're taken some initial steps to gaurantee the WiFi module definitely matches the kernel version, I would move on two more detailed troubleshooting.
There are two approaches I would suggest to get at the root of the issue quickly without wasting more time/effort.
1) When you toggle WiFi on/off from the Settings screen, what message does it display there? It should also be displaying detailed error out put in at least the logcat if not also in dmesg/kmsg. If you are able to post up these logs, it should help narrow down the issue.
2) Nandroid your current setup, you can revert back later and then flash a completely 100% stock ROM and kernel. Use a modified version of the RUU if needed.
Personally, I would glance at the logs from Step 1, but to make sure the hardware on the device is in deed working 100% and there are no hardware issues, I would revert to 100% stock ROM and kernel. If the WiFi doesn't work with 100% ROM and kernel, this would appear to be a potential hardware issue and I would look into getting the device repaired/exchanged.
If the WiFi works on the 100% stock ROM and kernel, then the issue now lies with either the previous ROMs/Kernels or the methods used to load them.
Hope that helps and appreciate the support!
hey, thanks for the reply and help.
when i try ti connect in the settings, it attempts to connect and obtain the ip address but it doesnt connect and just times out. i dont know how to look at or even find the the logcat or dmesg/kmsg. if you could tell me how to find it, i would post it.
im going to try to flash a stock rom with stock kernal, hope fully its not a hardware issue. i will post my results on the stock rom flash.
i just flashed Shooter_S_Sprint_W...8.651.3_deodex.zip and still no wifi.
am i just screwed or is there another way to fix this problem?

joeykrim, thanks bud for your help. I got it to work. i really do appreciate the quick reply and assistance.
I flashed the ICS Euphoria ROM for Samsung Vibrant, but now I cannot connect to wifi and my phone doesn't pick up my network (neither does it search for it). I have not flashed the kernel yet because I do not know what I need to wipe in CWM Recovery before installing it.
So how do I flash the kernel, and how do I get my wifi and mobile network working again?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
EDIT: i flashed the kernel after wiping dalvik cache, but its still not picking up my network or wifi
EDIT2: WIFI works now (I was dumb) but still no carrier signal. It just says No Service. Please help.
EDIT3: turned out it was the ICS Euphoria ROM that was at fault; i have Passion now and it works fine.
RESOLVED BY MYSELF. THANKS FOR THE HELP
I installed a custom rom, everything is working except for the wifi, the wifi wont turn on and connect to the wifi network, is there something wrong with the actual wifi card or is it fixable?

What rom did you use? I suggest going to the thread for the rom and asking other people that are using it. Chances are you may just need to re-wipe your phone and then reflash.
we will definitely need more info than what u gave us
You may have to reflash the custom kernel if you flashed one before flashing the rom. I ran into this issue after I flashed a new version of the rom I'm using on top of the Trinity kernel. Just had to reflash the Trinity kernel again and wifi was working again.
