Hello there..
I've been using my new Razr (GSM) for 3 days & listening to my music via wired headphones, till this morning when i plugged my headphones and nothing! music kept go thru the loud speaker as it didn't even recognize the HP's !!
I've tried many other wired HP's (even the one came on the box), rebooting & all, still nothing.. Bluetooth headphones worked fine.
im worried it could be a hardware problem, i don't wanna go throu warranty/fix/change/etc ..
anyone experienced something like this ? any advise would be helpful.
thanks in advance
Moe
Ps: is there anyway that i can only RESET the phone setting only without wiping the internal Data ?
Hi,
Everyday, when using Spotify, I have no sound from the headphones, while speaker is working.
Nothing in the system log, the only way to have headphones back is to reboot the razr.
Looks (sounds) like a software issue but I don't know if it's low level of at Spotify one (that app is so badly coded that everything is possible).
Not sure it helps, but collecting feedback is a good start

Well, it happens to be a small piece of paper from my jeans pocket inserted somehow & prevented the hp's to connect! anyway, my mistake! problem solved
thanks for the feedback!
I have the same problem. How is this solved?

yeah same thing for me my 3.5MM socket stopped working
i think its a common issue ill be sending mine back for repair and then giving this to my gf......i think i might just get a Gnex
A paperclip or a needle is probably the best way to clean lint out of the headphone port. I had the same problem one day. And a paperclip saved my headphone jack

I finally decided to do a reset on the phone before sending it back to Motorola and (3days now) I am using headphones without any problem yet.

Hi all,
I need your help for my recent problem occuring on my XDA Atom. So, yesterday I was using my XDA Atom as music player with pocketmusic application from pocket mind. I use headphones.
After I finish hearing the music, I plug off the headphones before cloesing the application or turning off the music. Usually, if I do that the music sounds will come out from the speaker. However, not this time. So I think there is no problem back then. So, when my friends call my mobile i can still hear ring tones from the speaker.. but when i try to pick it up i can not hear any voices coming out from the speaker and can not use the microphone on the XDA atom. I found out that I can only pick up a phone by using the headphones + microphone (headset) that provided in 02 XDA atom packing. Without that the sepaker can only sounds ringtones. The speaker can not play music, system notification and button taps. I already soft reset and even perform hard reset but this condition persist.
I dont know what to do with this.. Can anyone help??
there r some cases like that noticed due to using the headset. i had a problem similar to this.. the only solution i got was by sending the device to the service center & they tried after replacing some parts like speaker finaly they had to change the mother bord. sad to say it
Solution to your problem
Hi,
I experienced exactly the same problem as you just a few days ago. The problem is caused by the switch contact inside the headphone socket not springing back to allow the internal speakers and microphone to work. The solution is fairly simple. Just poke a toothpick into the socket on the phone and jiggle it around gently. If you do this whilst you have music playing, you'll hear it when you hit the "sweet spot". DO NOT USE A METAL OBJECT TO POKE AROUND.
Just back from the shop to make my Exec repaired... it was exactly the problem of contact of hearphone switch.. after having changed the loudspeaker...
Anyway it is not big deal just clean the switch
It is due to microphone jack.

Have you fixed the problem.
You can fixed this problem by visiting repairing center, they will fixed it by replacing microphone jack, which probably broken inside.
Thankkkk Youuu
GUYS THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOur prompt reply to my XDA Problem.. I've just fix the problem by doing the procedure given by TOMTECS... I poke the headset plug-in on my XDA while playing the music.. just a little bit pushing there twisting here.. then.. the sound come out...!!!
THANKS GUYS!!!
I've had the same problem, and I was desperate because I thought it was a tough mechanical or electronical failure. But a little poking with toothpick as tomtecs said worked like a charm! Great!!
Thank you!!
By the way, the switch is on the right hand side in the jack, when the screen is looking above. (tested only for HTC Prophet)
Thanks so much for this posting guys.
I ended up using a kitchen twist tie (you know the ones you use to seal plastic bags) while I had an mp3 running and then heard sound from my speaker again. Yay.
You guys rock!
I was wandering if anyone else had this problem? Every time I plug in to the Headphone jack my SD card unmounts. Has anyone else seen this?

i dont have that problem but my headphone jack does seem extremely tight, not sure if i have to 'wear' it in
don't have that issue BUT annoying is that when u plug in headphones it DISABLES THE MICROPHONE!! arg. so no way to listen to music & then answer a phone call without unplugging yer phones. How stupid is this?? its like the designers never actually used the phone

I know right? Its a damn shame that the guys here will fix all the problems that HTC should have caught
As for the Microphone issue, I think that has to do with the actual software.
Ok, I figured out that the tip of my connector was bent and it was pushing against the SD card.

Mic not working
Guess I didn't know this was an issues since every phone I have ever owned (feature phones) with a headphone jack d/c the mic when you plug it in. I always just picked up a nice pair of headphones with a mic on them to answer calls.
Found that out the hard way too. Right in the middle of a busy street, on an important call. Can't wait for CM7 so I dont have to deal with a stupid feature like that...
Audio Jack has a loose connection
I found a different issue in that if you bump the headphone jack just right, it cuts out the audio altogether. I took my Thunderbolt to the store thinking I had a defective unit and I was able to duplicate with their floor models too. Sounds like a manufacturing defect. I tested several headsets that to eliminate that as the problem.

Can you reproduce the issue with the battery cover off? Wondering if maybe the headphones aren't seated right. Taking the cover off would give more room to make sure they are all the way in there. (That's the only way I could type that last sentance without it sounding pornographic)
Note: don't bump it too hard with the cover off. You may knock the battery out.
no i have not encountered this problem, and i use headphone jack everytime i go out
Yea that definitely is a defect! If you can't easily fix it without potentially causing damage, I would get a replacement
The Disabled Microphone issue is really annoying, I can't wait for a dev to fix it!
That's lame. Have you heard of anyone figuring out a workaround yet?
Anyone found or asked a ROM developer about the mic shutting down when a headset is connected?
Music plays fine out of the wired headset...it always has. The headset has functioned properly until about two weeks ago. At that time, my Atrix began to think that I was pressing the headset button. Constantly. Over and over. Any time the screen is on with the headset in, it redials automatically. When the screen is off, it does it too, because when I turn the screen on, it gives me the vlingo vs. voice command box. Also, when I make a call with the headset plugged in, the other person can somehow not hear me at all, until they call me back, and it's fine. The phone thinks the headset button is being pressed once every few seconds. THIS IS INCREDIBLY ANNOYING.
I know it's not the headset, because I've tried three different headsets (two by Motorola, both the 'official' wired headsets of the Atrix, and one third-party), all with the same result. Also, it's not just my phone! Oddly enough, I replaced my Atrix with AT&T's warranty, and THE NEW PHONE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
Has anyone else experienced this, or have the slightest clue what is going on? I've looked around the internet for weeks now and I haven't seen a single instance of it. Pleeeeease. This is brutal.
My headset with mic and button does not have any issues. Its the bose MIE2 mobile phone headset.
Yes I have experienced this as well and it is super annoying I will prob swap it out and hope I don't get another messed up one. Sometimes when I am in my car and connected to my bluetooth handsfree it'll do the same thing and start a song playing and I don't even push anything!!! Hope someone figures this one out.
theres defo something funny about the atrix headphone jack and remote controls.
At first my nexus one remote worked fine with it, but it started doing funny things, then flat out would go crazy (issuing commands without me touching it etc.)
Gave up and went wireless, now I only use wired @ the gyma dn they're just dumb headphones w/out remote
ME TOO!!
Yes, yes, and yes on having this problem. I use my headphones (SkullCandy FMJ) sometimes when riding my bike and yesterday all I kept hearing was "please say a command...did you say...I'm sorry please try again" over and over...hard to deal with at 70MPH!!! Hope this gets fixed, I thought it was my headphones, but it sounds like another GB issue. I don't have any problems when using my SENA SMH10 Bluetooth inside the helmet.
I had this same problem, mine got randomly solved. You could find how the wiring world for the Atrix and block that connection or cut off the controller on the headphone and solder your headphones back together.

Thanks for the feedback, but a)I'm not looking to do any soldering or rewiring (I'm good with software mods, but not hardware mods), and b) it never happened until recently, then I swapped out the phone for a new Atrix, and it happened right off the bat - again with all three headsets. Tried a bluetooth, worked fine, no problem.
I tried a new headset (skull candy something-or-other) and it's been working so far, inexplicably.
I made a voodoo doll of my Atrix and poked it a bunch of times in its little voodoo headphone jack. Seems to have done the trick. I'd recommend that method.
I have this problem too with my headphones from my Sony x1, or x10. I cant remember which one. But as soon as I plug them in the phone goes nuts!
Which really sucks because they are they best headset/ headphones I have ever used for my funny shaped ears.
I think mine fixed after I dropped it and the headphones came out Anyways as long as its resolved that's awesome.

i also started to experience this issues. At first i thought it is kernel or ROM issue but then after multiple test and experiment it is the Atrix 3.5mm headset jack is the culprit. If im not mistaken it is due to pressure contact sensor inside headphone jack. Please anyone know how to rectify this kind of problem do post your solutions for us.TQ

You bike at 70MPH? Holy.
so no one found a real fix or solution for this problem? Maybe we need to make a petition and submit to motorola
I had the same problem with a BB9700. It ended up being a damaged headphone jack. I figure some crap from my pocket had been in the jack when I plugged in the head set. Which jammed everything into it wrecking the receiving end of things.
Luckily I had a spare housing which came with a new jack. I'm not sure if it's as easy to replace on the Atrix since I haven't had the opportunity to tear it apart yet.
Power amp has settings that fix my controls and it works great.

Still no one ever face this kind of problem?
Can anyone confirm that this could fix our problem? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301998
I have same problem too. But I have this problem on stock ROM and CM10.1 (with 3.1 kernel) ROM. I don't have this problem with any other ROM.
as in title: after installing latest OTA update friday, the headphone jack stopped outputting sound.
plug the ol' klipsches in and nothing. sound keeps coming out of phone speaker.
(yes, i did confirm they work on anther device. yes, i did try another set of headphones on razr. no sound)
never been a problem before, pretty good assumption that it's software related.
searching the interweb and forums but no one else seems to have this issue. dug into settings and there doesn't seem to be an option to adjust/select jack so at a loss.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance.

Headphone jack works fine here with new update. XT912vzw

Works on mine after upgrade. Tried two different headsets and both work fine.
Clear the lint out of the headphone jack. Reach in there with a paper clip or something.
i just had this problem too.
a simple reboot helped me thought, but im sure you already tried that

Weird. After update mine still works. Are you rooted? Maybe flash back to stock to see if it works and then update.
I am having the exact same problem and I have restarted a couple times, thought I was going crazy
I had the same exact issue. I did not even think to link it to the update. The phone would not detect the headphones. I just kept unplugging and plugging the headphones back in till the phone recognized the headphones, and since then I have not had an issue.
I had the same problem after the upgrade. Nothing is able to fix it yet, any other suggestions??

I had headphone issues with my Razr too. And it appeared to happen after rooting BUT it wasn't related to the rooting at all. It was just a bad headphone jack. Moto seems to have problematic headphone jacks on a few of their phones. I got my replaced.
Try unrooting it and doing a factory restore. If the headphone jack still doesn't work before you root it again then you know what your problem is.
Verizon rep told me that the broken headphone jack is a known issues. Call Verizon to get a replacement.

It is nothing to do with the upgrade. There seems to be no bugs on the audio script. The solution is to reheat the audio amplifier (placed in the reversed board of headset connector). If not replaced the defective audio amplifier i.c...This will solve your problem.
Hello everyone, I am having an issue with my galaxy s3. The problem is that I can't remember when this issue started and if it's a software or hardware issue.
This only happens sometimes and I've tried different headphones and it happens with all the headphones I have and once again it happens sometimes.
When I am trying to listen to music, sometimes the music plays through the headphones (most of time this is what happens) but sometimes the music (with the headphones plugged in) plays through the loudspeaker. I think it could be a hardware issue from the fact that sometimes while listening to music the music stops as if I had disconnected the headphones from the jack when in fact they're still plugged in.
Since it happens sometimes I'm not sure it's a hardware issue and I should get it changed. I haven't rooted or changed anything. Stock dbt international S3. Could this be a software issue or a hardware issue?
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Sent from my Galaxy.
No one?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
Most likely hardware.
It sounds like a hardware issue, it is common with headphone jacks.
You could try a few things though, like cleaning the headphone jack with Q-Tips, trying different headphones and using a different app to play music.
Have you put extra stress on the headphone jack? Or dropped the phone badly?
If all else fails, backup your apps, contacts, pictures and all other personal data and install stock firmware using Kies.
Best of Luck!
Mine does this too sometimes. Omega latest version 34 here. Headphones I use are Sennheisers made for iphone. They are not totaly compatible with Samsung running android.
Yeah, I'm running completely stock! Maybe I'll give it a clean with some alcohol and a q tip. If that doesn't work I'll reset and wait for the next update. If it isn't fixed by then, then I'll be exchanging it under warranty.
Any other suggestions?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
Are you sure it has the same issues with stock headphones? Mine not. Its more like an incompatibility with headphones made for IOS/iphone, an issue that is not present at all on HTC phones for instance. Therefore Im in serious doubt that this is either a problem covered by the guarantee or solved by cleaning with alcohol. Keep us posted.
I'd like to update:
After updating to 4.1.2 I'm still having the same issue. I cleaned it out with alcohol and a Q-tip, and it worked! for all of 10 minutes... I plugged and unplugged maybe 20 times and it worked fine every time. I set it down for about an hour and then I came back and tried it again and it didn't work!
This is frustrating. After Xmas I'm going to format it and set everything back to factory (no apps, no data, nothing!) and see if that fixes it. I guess it could be an error somewhere with an app or software.... If that doesn't fix it right off the bat then I'm taking it in.... Unless any of you have any suggestions!
