Hello!
I am just receive Nook Tablet.
I follow hxxp://nookdevs.com/NookColor_Factory_Mode/Skip_Out_of_Box_Experience and get Factory Mode.
There is interesting information on the screen
Public key modules=108342652296433033527751572104361125
On the Nook Color this string is 000000000000000000000000.
Is it different number for different NT? May be a key?
Excuse me for my English. (I am Ukrainian)
Unrelated to development
Where's the "10 posts before you can post in the dev sections" check?

Please post items like this in the "Nook General" forum.
I can be mistaken.
I think this is related to development. Idea is the try use this Public key as key for boot-loader.
The question is this Public key (from Factory mode screen) unique for each BT or no? Anybody can post this number for his/her NT?
If this number unique for others NT then I mistaken(

In /rom/devconf there is a private and a public key hash. I was asking about this some last week. Hopefully we can get someone that knows what they are doing to take a look and see if we are on to something or if it's nothing.

For example here's my hash of private key.

You have to know what the issues are
THESE PRIVATE KEYS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SIGNING THE BOOT-LOADER.
Please understand the issues.

First of all I'm sorry if this has been asked & answered, but I think it wasn't.
I have a ZTE Skate(aka Orange/Optimus Monte Carlo) and it has flash led, the thing is I would like to use it as a flashlight.
Please don't point me to any app or anything cuz they won't work.
Looking at Torch.apk you find this, which I think is what the app uses to control the flash led:
Code:
public class FlashDevice
{
public static final int DEATH_RAY = 3;
private static final String DEVICE = "/sys/devices/platform/flashlight.0/leds/flashlight/brightness";
private static final String DEVICE_SHOLES = "/sys/class/leds/spotlight/brightness";
The problem is that ZTE Skate doesn't have these files: /sys/devices/platform/flashlight.0/leds/flashlight/brightness nor /sys/class/leds/spotlight/brightness
I don't know if those files are generated at boot, when using camera but the thing is that with any ROM available for this device those files don't exist.
What I'm asking is if it is possible to create them, how and if they'll work.
Or a workaround to use led as flashlight.
Thank you all in advance.
Anyone?
I know for my past phones (evo 4g and droid x) I hade to try atleast 5 diferent apps/ widgets to find a working one, I guess it depends what phone you have or what device the app supports and then MAYBE it will work. ...hope I helped.

anyone found the solution?
I hope I'm posting in the right place.
I'm trying to enter some cheat codes into Gameboid on my Nook tablet.
All research I've done says to simply push the "menu", button and select cheats but nook does not have a menu button.
I've tried different durations of pressing/holding the "n" button, but to no avail.
Can someone please tell me how to:
a. Access cheat codes input for nook tablet; and
b. Enter cheat codes?
And perhaps show me a better version of the app I'm using? (gameboid)
I know it sounds silly.
Thanks xda. Looking forward to a response
(I'm really sorry guys, I'm traveling right now and just noticed this belongs in q&a. Will a moderator please move this for me as the wifi I'm using now will force me to endure a lengthy wait in page loading.... Not to mention having to retype everything I just said on my Nook. Which is what I'm using to speak to yall.
You can always use the app called Button Savior to bring up the menu and other buttons. It requires root to work.
You simply press the back button

The button savior did the trick for me, thanks alot.:good:
I keep wondering where the moderators have gone when i see this thread still in the development section.
And it's not a question so I will leave it here in General ...
I would have liked to post this in the [ROM][4.2.2][AOKP/CM] Unofficial Vanilla RootBox [Per-App-DPI][PIE] thread -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2199598
but being a noob I have to get someone to link this issue to that developer thread.
Took the latest (Mar 20 14:22:28 + quinsyatt-Nightly-2-130320 and gapps-jb-20130301-signed for my I717)
Hit the microphone button on the keypad and sent Goggle search down a rabbit-hole that loops for while until "Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped. Report/OK".
Pkg: com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox
Exception class name: java.io.FileNotFoundException
Source file:AssetManager.java
Line number: -2
Stack trace: (last) android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: File res/raw/open.wav from drawable resource ID 0x7f080009
Can re-create at will and re-booting does not help.
This was my first JB rom attempt so after I mounted it as a USB drive, used it and ejected from the PC side (Win. 7), it would acknowledge the haptic keys but did nothing else. Only the long power button worked to power it off - is that normal?
Thanks for all your efforts - everyone!

They called you a noob because this issue is a Gapps issue which has been present with CM10.1 since the beginning. Update Google search in the app store and your problem will go away.
Its tough finding the right think via search.
But your more likely to find an answer in the Q&A section in the future--that's where people go to ask qusstions--but if you're like me, you often pop into the section to pay your dues, to learn what's been going on lately, or to find answers to problems you didn't know you had. I call it education.
Don't be discouraged. Some people are more supporting than others.
I've used search in one form or another since Winmo6, and my success rate has been limited.

On the rare chance it won't go away, use a different keyboard...like the "Jelly Bean Keyboard" or others like it from the market. They're exact copies of the stock one, often with a few added features.

Actually, I took a later version than is available in bulk from the store as my baseline and the issue is still there too so I found I had to manually update as you said!

Vanilla is quite small and has no built in alternatives and I have not found where that is or how to side load yet (but I'm still looking).

Maybe he figured by the time he typed out that whole response someone else might have dropped in a quick answer or comment.
Happens to me a lot.
Still though, a post in any thread without a quote is assumed to be directed at the op unless context clues within the post say otherwise
Lulz, see context clue, no quote
I'm trying to work with a custom build of Android based on KitKat to incorporate a stylus, copying some of the functionality (though not code) from Samsung which sells Android-with-stylus builds for e.g. the Note 3. I'm not including details of the specific device because right now I am working on a custom dev device and my aim is to write code which is generic enough to be usable from any Android (based on KitKat). The build (written by others) already incorporates drivers and sends stylus events correctly as motion events etc. Programming at the app level I can receive onHover, ontouch, onClick etc
The specific functionality I am trying to achieve is to pick up a stylus-button-click while hovering. It's perfectly possible to do this in any app, using an onGenericMotion Listener.
However, I want to make my "stylus-action" have system-wide effect - so that anywhere (in any other app, or in the launcher or whatever) I will pick up the event (prior to any other app) and bring up my custom menu. (just like AirCommand in Samsung Note 3) I guess in my custom Android this would then make that particular action somewhat protected or unusable for other users, but I'm ok with that.
In older Android (prior to ICS) you could try something by putting up a System Overlay (i.e in regular app code, without hacking the ROM at all), but this is no longer possible.
This is not an attempt to tapjack or whatever, I understand why this functionality has been removed from the domain of the regular programmer, and I don't want to regress my ROM back to pre-ICS behaviour by allowing the System Overlay hack. Now I am programming the system (if my change is good enough I'd like to submit it back to AOSP) so I would like to know the best method to address this. Since Samsung have already done this, it must be legal (using legal in the terms of "Android will allow it"), and I want to do it right.
Is it possible to write something similar to the System Overlay when you are running from a system service? Or is there a good choke-point to capture events before they are broadcast to the current running apps?
I was looking at (sorry, not allowed to post links) AndroidXRef /frameworks/base/core/java/android/view/View.java specifically in the function dispatchHoverEvent() which looks like a promising place. My naive idea is that I would place code here checking the MotionEvent to see if the button is pressed and if it is, don't call any listeners and instead call my little menu app (or broadcast a custom message, or something anyway). However, I've never written code on the ROM level before (LOTS of experience writing app code) so I don't know if this is a really bad point or a good point to add in code. Should I be putting things at a higher level or a lower one? Will this capture all events or not? Is it all just trial and error?
If this is the wrong place to ask questions like this, please tell me where on XDA I should be asking it. If it's the right place - please answer
Thanks

The guy above me is a ****. I stumbled across this post looking for something completely unrelated (title interested me). Five words in I knew this was something completely out of my league, but I still read the entire post. If I may offer you some probably useless advice, I would talk to the devs in the note forums. The only problem I could see is that the AOSP guys don't have this function in their roms because it's locked up Samsung code and the guys modding the stock roms leave it alone for the same reason. I could also be completely wrong. Like I said completely out of my league.
