To qualify globatrons statement....
You can not make GSM phone calls on the Flyer, PERIOD! UNLESS YOU HACK IT.
HTC do not allow calls on the device so as not to be hit by any 'i' litigation....
Is there a reason why calls are not allowed on 3G HTC Flyer?

in Gingerbread the software and hardware are all there, but it's not enabled
in Honeycomb, who knows
so let's hope ICS then
PlayoffS !? Are you talking Playoffs??? Playoffs???
Hmmm,
Is S-OFFed honeycomb not able to make phone calls either ?
Read thread title, I know it is cryptic but if you stare out it long enough the answer will become evident

I know but vast of people claim that you cannot make calls from Flyer AT ALL - I make em so I thought that upgrade to honeycomb and soffing/rooting/etc it will enable me to do it.
It's very poor - I personally use HTC Flyer with gingerbread as my only telephone so no upgrade to HC today ;(
yes if you use your Flyer as a phone it is best to keep the operating system that is meant for a phone on the tablet. Honeycomb is a tablet operating system adn thus does not natively assume one would make phone calls. I am sure there is someone who could find a way to do it, but is that person here and or motivated to do so? If you need phone functionality honeycomb is not for you

Yes, we can read it even in this thread.
But, the title is clear and spoke alone over honeycomb. It has nothing to do with the Flyer. Here we know, that a 3G Flyer has the hardware and with a OS which support phone calls it is possible (like Gingerbread).
But honeycomb didn't support phone calls.

No, because here are all OS parts missing and nobody can write them beside Google and HTC self.

That might or might not be true.
It is likely that HTC is not willing to support voice calling most likely its due to carrier support. I tried searching and was not able to find an article that explained Voice calling is architecturally unsupported or impossible in Honeycomb.
Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus supports voice calling http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxytab/7.0/feature.html?type=find
The international version does and US version will not support this feature mainly due to AT&T

I know gsm phone call not work in htc flyer honeycomb.
but anybody unlock (or hack) gsm phone call in Flyer Honeycomb?!

Okay, maybe the galaxy tab is the only honeycomb table which can make phone calls over 3G but I am not sure. I though they use another technique (VOI).
Beside this exists - as I know - no Honeycomb tablet where phone calls over 3G (or 4G) are possible. They all us a internet connection. And this is also with the Flyer possible. So, you can use Skype, Google Voice, ...

Hello All,
HTC Touch Pro
---------------------------
U S Cellular
ROM - 1.08.573.1
Radio - 1.07.06F
Very new to smartphoning. Have spent the last few days trying to get VOIP enabled on this HTC Touch Pro phone. At this point I am guessing some how U S Cellular has disabled the ability to do 'Internet Calling' with the stock ROM. I have downloaded every voip related .cab ,reading through each tutorial and just never end up with the 'Internet Calling' tab showing under the >settings> Phone category.
I have searched here but simply can not find a definative answer for this.
Could someone that possibly has an usc Touch pro give me a link or a walk through on how to enable voip on this phone. I would guess I am going to have to drop a new ROM on to it,at this point?
BTW: I have installed both fring and agephone( with no luck there),but would like to get back to the native WinMo 6.1 voip setup if possible.
Thanks in advance
Barry
Smartphoning? First time I have ever heard that one... ahhh kids these days
All joking aside, you may want to try to get rid of your stock rom. There are a few threads in this site about VOiP and how some users have managed to get it working. Having said that, more than likely you will have to get rid of your current stock rom.
egzthunder,
Thanks for the feedback. I was hoping someone might post up what ROM they used,,IF in fact voip is actually possible on the uscc cdma phone? I see so many voip *almost* works posts ,but have never really read A post were someone is actually using voip on TP,on a daily basis?,,,.

From what I've seen Galaxy S is th only phone with Bluetooth 3.0..
I'm just curious as to what this will bring to the table that other phones will not be able to...
I hope there are some nifty bluetooth gadgets in production for our vibrant!
faster data transfer through bluetooth.
You will be prevented from using the Ryan Frawley's Wiimote App! Congratulations on your bluetooth 3.0 phone!
(And to provide at least some helpful information, he has not responded to any questions about the galaxy s line, our future froyo update may fix this for us).
@PathogenX, Yes I knew that...
@SquareBare yes i'm also aware of that.. i'll just have to wait... i'm liking the multi touch control... which works perfectly so i don't mind waiting til froyo to see what happends ...
i guess i was looking to see if this will mean video streaming or something... i think i saw an article like that b4.. but can't remember
anyways Thank you both for ur fast replies ...!!
The SGS family is the only smartphones in the world (if i'm not mistaken) to have BT 3.0. Okay, the Samsung Wave had it first.

Well, more of the blame lies on samsung than Mr. Frawley.
I read somewhere on these forums that Samsung implemented the bluetooth standard in a somewhat bizarre way. Kind of like how you have to swap wires around when you are connecting the video cable to your TV.
From what I see though, Samsung has acknowledged the issue and will correct it with the upcoming froyo update.

Samsung gets the blame for using the latest technology? How does that work?
I read in a press release from January of last year that the two main features of 3.0 is faster transfer and better battery life. In addition there is suppose to be some security enhancements.
It uses 802.11 to transfer the files like wifi does to transfer files to and from you phone.

This isn't the article that I found before but this is one from the source.
http://www.bluetooth.com/English/Press/Pages/PressReleasesDetail.aspx?ID=16
The article I seen explained the bt/wifi thing better and said that bt 4.0 should be out by the end of this year.
Hi guys,
I just bought a Motorola Atrix 4G from Ebay. However I was wondering, what ROM should I use, since I live in the Netherlands?
I already noticed a few roms here, however, since I live in the Netherlands, I want to know which one I should use for the best performance within my country.
Can someone please advice me?
Thank you very much.

Sorry I forgot to mention it's the cell phone from AT&T carrier. I already know where to unluck it, thanks to this forum!
I am really sorry if this is a dumb question, but I couldn't find anything on it on the forums for Dutch people. :S
You're welcome.

I apologize for Shaydar. That is an incredibly rude comment to make for absolutely no reason.
Make sure the ROMs are compatible with your network. I know that Canadian users were warned to avoid using certain ROMs at first.
However, I no longer own an Atrix, so you might need to some more research on the subject.

No problem, luckily there are some more decent folk around here. Oh well, I guess on every forum their are a few a..........
I never heard of a provider blocking a ROMs overhere in the Netherlands. But then again we are allowed a lot of stuff overhere, legalised soft drugs, red light district and so on. So I doubt it will going to block a custom ROM, but of course you never know.
So the ROMs, depending they aren't blocked, do work without problems with other countries, right? As a matter of fact, it doesn't matter what or who's ROM it is, the ROM itself doesn't provide the connection (phone/data/gps). Right?
Sorry if I misunderstood. Oh well; even if someone said it wouldn't work, it doesn't matter that much anymore, since the phone will arrive here within 2 days.
By the way, you returned the Atrix 4G? Didn't you like the phone or was there another reason?
I believe Canadian Atrix users have to use certain ROMs due to hardware compatibility. I'm no expert in Canadian Atrii but they've been waiting until very recently for an SPL that's compatible with their phones so I assume it's either compatibility between the ROM and the phone hardware (bootloader maybe?) or between the ROM and the network.
Sorry if I sounded rude.
All roms are just original firmware with skin and some mods.
Guess the guy sold his cell cause the bootloader was locked and some things like the real 4G, 1080p recording, and gingerbread are not yet available for the phone.
I am from france and all the roms avaible on this forum worked fine.
Got a preference for GreyBlur.
Enjoy your Atrix when you got it.
Mine cost me 425€ all costs in.

Okay thanks. After doing some researching I will be going to use the GladiAtrix2v4.2.3 (not themed) version.
Let's hope I manage to get it working properly.
On a sidenote; my phone didn't arrive yet.
One thing: don't be surprised when you don't see the earphones in the package.
At&T just don't provide them.... But there's a HDMI wire.... Weird choice...
And plug your phone to the wall-charger if it doesen't seem to boot.

Ah okay... I don't care much about earphones, though other people might. But thanks for the information.
Also thanks for the extra pointer regarding the wall-charger.
Darn... I also wanted to order the Motorola vehicle dock including rapid charger, but it seems they don't have that overhere yet or in my neighbouring countries. :S
Cleaned the thread, back on topic.
Simple question; is there a way to disable those annoying messages about updates?
I rooted and installed gladiatrix and it has been working perfectly since then. However I am not getting messages about installing an update (4.1.83.en.US).
I select "Install later" every time, however after 3 hours it's back and it's getting annoying. Or is the update safe to use on a rooted gladiatrix phone? If not, how can I disable these messages completely?
Hi, I have a question with the roms for the htc Evo View, I can install a rom for Flyer?
I do not need the data connection, just regular wifi.
reading other reviews I've seen say the only difference between the flyer and the Evo are the drivers for the data connection, hence my question arises
thanks

People please use the search function, it is after all forum rule #1.

View development has been almost non-existent it seems. Probably because most people opted for the Flyer. But with all the View firesales over the past few weeks, I think there will be a lot more View owners. Whether that translates into more development is unknown, but it may. I just bought a View on the cheap and would be happy to see some more development, but I'm pretty content with having a nice tablet at a great price.
I bought a evo 3d back in the summer, it is running the generic gingerbread. Up until now it has been fine. Recently most apps keep shutting down (force stop) it won’t even display the weather app on home page anymore! It won’t update to ice-cream sandwich through ‘software updates’.
I called htc and gave them my imei and serial etc, they told me that it is an x demo and that I shouldn’t have it, they explained that the problems I am experiencing are to be expected as the device in not as sufficient as the retail models. I find this hard to believe and am looking for some truth hence I have joined this forum.
I guess I am looking to see if I can update it to the above mentioned or even jelly bean.
I am trying to update it to ic sandwich to fix my issues, however I can’t get a copy of the file ‘Temp Root File – RW EVO 3D’ as it appears to have been removed from every link on Google.
I have searched the whole site and cannot find any similar posts, I do hope as a noob that I do not offend or annoy any one.
