[Q] USB Charging Help! - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Received my Galaxy Tab 10.1 the other day and already rooted, installed starburst rom and OC to 1.4.
working fine! BUT i try to allow usb charging by going into android terminal emulator and typing-
su
echo 1 > /sys/class/power_supply/battery/force_usb_charging
but then i get back this message- sh: cannot create /sys/class/power_supply/battery/force_usb_charging: No such file or directory
any ideas?
thanks

Are you sure you have a kernel that supports usb charging???
Otherwise, try pershoot's kernel. That one works like a charm ;-)

Yeah im running - 2.6.36.4 cyanogenmod+ root @pershoot-ubuntu #1
With Starburst Rom 8.8
Thanks

[Help] Unable to start wifi - After installed custom kernel

Hi everyone,
My X10i said that it cannot enable wifi after I had installed custom kernel on STOCK ROM (I have tried many of stock firmwares but the same problem). The custom kernel I used is:
- FreeKernel-alpha1 by zdzihu
- FreeKernel-alpha1-in-call volume fix by zdzihu
I also used the FreeXperia Kernel beta4 by Bin4ry. The wifi works good but I cannot start a full benchmark from Quadrand. It said that "this phone does not support ..." something like that when I tried to benchmark.
Please help!
Thanks in advance.
Custom kernals aren't supported at this point so it would make sense that you had some error, especially when you are installing it on a STOCK rom. There's not much you can do until they develop something stable =)

Thanks, I create this thread because I watched the video in which X10i (STOCK firmware) installed custom kernel from zdzihu and the wifi works properly. But mine is not working.
Just download "barnacle" from the marketplace and use that. It works perfectly.

Can you post a dmesg of the error right after the "Unable to start Wi-fi" ?
Open a terminal emulator and type dmesg, save the text and attach it here, I have a similar problem :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12882017
Thanks, I will do it and post the info asap.
one possible reason could be..
wifi.ko needs to insmod in the kernel mine was stuck coz of that.
did you used flashable zip to install kernel or manually did the editing.
please post your chargemon @ /system/bin/chargemon
+ logcat.

[Q] How to install Pershoot Kernel

Hello,
I'd like to start by saying thanks to everyone who are working hard on all these great developments / tweaks / Kernels / ROMs / drivers and everything else!!
Thank you.
I am kinda new here, and just installed GalaxyTask latest 13.1 slim ROM, which works great, but I had the GalacyTask 10 version, which had the PerShoot kernel, which I think is better.
My question is this, how do I flash the Pershoot kernel?
If possible please provide a step by step explanation, as I tried a few things, all resulting in a need to restore a recovery I did before.
I read a few things in the droidbasment site, but I just didn't understand a few of the things there, any help will be great.
I have Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi, running Tasks 13.1 slim version (latest at this time).
Thanks in advance

Kinda strange answering myself, but what I did was restore just the boot part from a GalaxyTask 10 ROM backup (after flashing the boot for pershoot kernel, without the actual modules, as I have no idea how to do that, so all I got was snow...), it seems that SetCPU can OC my tab again, I can charge with USB and that things actually work smoother, meaning, seems that I did installed Pershoot Kernel, just by restoring the boot from a GalaxyTask10 ROM backup.
Does this make sense?
Should I expect any issues, or should everything work properly?
Sorry for the n00b questions (everyone were n00bs once, if you dont ask, you can never learn).
download this kernel boot-cm_2636.4_ux_hc32-oc-xtra-vfpv3-d16_fp-010912.zip from pershoots site reboot tab into clockwork recovery wipe davlik cache then install(flash) kernel zip then reboot tab download setcpu app so u can control max and min cpu in case you want to overclock
edit: pershoot says that you should flash stock kernel then flash his kernel
---------- Post added at 02:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:21 AM ----------
everything should be fine if you just restored boot but v10 had an older version of pershoots kernel

[Q] auto rotation issue

I installed galaxy task v14 from galaxytabhacks.com and the kernel that was a seperate dowload but was supposed to be for it. It all works very well but the autorotation isnt working and it is driving me insane.
Anyone else have this issue, and if so any idea how to fix?
Don't mean to cause offence but have u checked to make sure its enabled? I knocked it off by accident once lol

If I'm not mistaken. The v.14 from task is installed with the normal kernel from samsung. The kernel that you install separately is a custom one. Does it work with the normal kernel?
I had the same issue after upgrading to stock 3.2. I tried messing around with the calibration settings, and it worked. Maybe it'll work for you too! Goods luck!

The problem is because the kernel listed in galaxytabhacks.com is for HC 3.1 and "Galaxy Task 14" is a HC 3.2 ROM.
The right kernel can be found in pershoot's blog:http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/
Direct link to kernel: 10.1-Wifi, Touchwiz UX (OTA, GT-P7510)
BTW, I suggest you to check the official "Galaxy Task 14" thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340064
Maple you are my hero, wiped cache, dalvik cache, and reflashed new kernel now it works like a dream. big thanks bro

Simply amazing what search can do.
Thank you for the help... I just did not know which kernel would be the best from pershoot.... I know that his latest kernel is for ics only and that kernel is not stable..... I just did not want to flash an unstable kernel..... Again thank you for the help....
UNTOUCHABLE EPIC CM9 BETA 3

That kernel is stable but the last kernel for hc 32 was Jan 9.
aokp 37 and pershoot kernel 2505
I'm running AOKP 37 and Pershoot's latest kernel (2505) and I'm pretty happy. No buggs or reboots. I'm not using flash as some guys reported to have the freezing screen when using it.
My 2 cents...

honestly i cant really say what kernel i think is best, what works for me may not work for you. if i had to choose I'd recommend semaphore, neat, and neo kernel. before i forget semaphore and neo are out dated but they still work great as for neat its the most up to date between the three.
ok! finally I installed C-RoM 7.1 & Neo - Kernel CMA TWRP 23.04
thank's

dude try semaphore kk3.4.3 its freakin awesome.... I'm on slimkat 7.6 have some issues lags on incoming call..... remaining everything is smooth n fine..... go for that 6.6 buikd its a stable 1... heard slimkat is going to be updated within 3 days for vibrant hope it happens to b a stable 1
I'm on Neat because it provides 417mb Ram. I believe that's the only kernel that provides that much ram, is that right? I need as much ram as I can get lol
