Affinity is a rom for froyo (2.2.2) unless your x2 has been off since July you probably are on gingerbread (2.3.3 or 2.3.4) you have to flash roms that are build off the correct android version. this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313103 will give you more info as to which rom is for what android version. there are also links to the SBF files and everything else you will need for the X2.
p.s. try not to post the same question in multiple places. once is good enough.

[Q] Flashed viperROM to Evo 3D, now WiFi won't work...

Hello,
I am trying to get viperROM to work correctly on my Evo 3D. I would have posted in that thread but I don't have 10 posts yet so I'm not allowed...
I wasn't thinking and I accepted the OTA update when it came out.
So I used this tutorial and did the HTC unlock and then flashed CWM 4.0.1.4 to my phone.
I used CWM to back up my stock ROM, then I used it to install viperROM.
Well, it worked except for the fact that the WiFi wouldn't turn on. It just said "Error".
I have been reading these forums for hours now and my eyes are glazing over but I figure it's something to do with the radio I guess?
I tried to do some forum searches but the search function is apparently down for nightly maintenance.
Anyways, I restored my backup and thank God WiFi is working again.
Can someone please point me in the right direction to fixing this?
Thanks.
Did you do a full wipe before you installed viperRom?
I don't believe you can use Viperrom on your phone because it is a 2.3.3 rom and your kernel is only for 2.3.4 roms. When you took the OTA and your phone upgraded to the 1.50 bootloader you lost the ability to install kernels and write to the boot partition. With out the proper kernel you will have problems running any 2.3.3 roms properly. Look for a rom that is already upgraded to 2.3.4 and give that a try. For now I would flash back to stock and wait for Viperboy to update his rom.
help please?
I try RCMIX 2.2.3 and recover HTC Rom but stcuk boot HTC logo.
Can i replaces viperROM ? how i can?
I'm Newbie.
Thanks

[Q] Can't flash a custom kernel on AT&T Atrix

I've tried again and again, following multiple sets of directions, but for some reason, whenever I try to flash faux's OC UV GB Kernel for my AT&T Atrix, the phone won't boot or get past the boot screen. I have no idea why this could be happening and have tried whatever I could think of to fix the problem but no luck so far.
I've tried to flash previous versions as well as the latest version of faux's kernel using Romracer's latest CWM, but it hasn't worked. I keep having to flash back to the stock AT&T kernel to get the phone to boot up. I've tried this on the HomeBase Rom, DARKSIDE Rom and on the Alien Rom. The ROMs work fine with the stock kernel though.
I also tried flashing CM7 and faux's CM7 but that didn't work either.
Anyone think of why this could be happening and have any suggestions that I could try to get this working?
Thanks in advance for the help.

When I have flashed a rom like DARKSIDE, which has the kernel built-in, the phone won't boot and I have the same issue, even though it has the correct kernel, unless I flash back to stock at&t kernel.
He has a GB version and a CM version out. Are you sure you're using the correct version for your rom?

yes, I have tried the GB AT&T/Unified Version for when i have flashed a GB Rom and I tried the CM7 Kernel for when I flashed CM7, neither kernel was working for their respective roms.

Sorry it took a while for me to get back to you, thanks for your suggestion, I did try this but still no results. I reflashed pudding and put recovery back and then tried flashing the kernel again but it still gives me the same result. Anyone have any other ideas i could try?
I also tried doing a full wipe after flashing the kernel as well, that didn't work either.
sorry man, i can't think of anything that might be causing that problem. you should send Faux123 a tweet and ask him about it, if he has spare time he might be able to help you out
Does anyone have any ideas i could try to get this workong? I'd really love to use faux's kernel on my atrix.

Question about bootstrap

Is bootstrap recovery the same as clockwork recovery? Are they one and the same?
Also I'm on kernal 2.3.4 do I have to do anything special if I want to load a 2.3.5 rom?
Sorry I'm new to playing around with motorola phones.
I thought they were the same when I first started hacking my phone. But it turns out they are not the same.
As for updating your phone to 2.3.5, if you are on stock 2.3.4, all you need to do is root your phone, install bootstrap recovery and flash the 2.3.5 ROM using bootstrap recovery.
There is a nice guide someone put together in the dev. Section.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Basically, yes - those recoveries a almost the same. They are both used in the same way, which is to backup/restore, wipe data and flash a ROM. So there's no real difference.
As for the 2.3.4 kernel. SOME people can get away with flashing a 2.3.5 based ROM on their 2.3.4, others can't. Either way, I'd recommend just updating to 2.3.5 to safe. Plus (to me), 2.3.5 seems smoother and faster.
To Update to 2.3.5, just download the update.zip from here: http://www.multiupload.com/0ZT7FTOW0R
This is just the update file, so all you need to do is flash that, but I won't get into much about that.
If you need a guide on updating it, then you can look at this one right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391824
That's the one I used.
Ok so I'm currently on Molten 2.2 wich is a 2.3.4 romand was looking at liberty rom wich is 2.3.5 rom. So all I would need to do is just clear the needed data and flash it like any other rom?
The reason for asking about if it was clockwork was because in one of the roms the instructions says to use clockwork and I never saw a like to clockwork in the dev section
Yes I looked in the stickies first and these were just the questions that popped up that I didn't see the answer to it. I may have just over looked it but I figured I would ask before I borked my phone lol
looks like while I was writing a responce some one answered lol thank you all for your help
U don't need to root to install 2.3.5
It is signed by moto so we can flash in stock recovery
(actually that's how you SHOULD FLASH 2.3.5)
And our BSR is a hacked/ported cwm
To update to 2.3.5 you WILL need to be STOCK (you CAN be rooted but it will take away root when u flash it....just root again with zergrush...)

Just so you know, Liberty is a 2.3.4 rom. Have a look at the OP in that thread. If you're on Molten, just wipe data and cache and you should be set.

[Q] Root void with different CWM?

Hey guys!
Before I get to the problem, I guess you would like to know more about my mobile.
I have a Galaxy 5 (that is kinda obvious since I'm posting here), that came with 2.1 Eclair as stock. I soon upgraded to 2.2 Froyo using the ROM flashing thread in the development section, soon after which I rooted my G5. After about two months, I flashed CyanogenMod 7.1 v1.6 hotfix 3, which I'm using as of now.
Prior to flashing CM7.1, I flashed ClockworkMod RFS version, compatible with my old 2.2 stock ROM, which was used to flash CM7.1. Despite what others said on the CWM forum, it worked. Recently i flashed CWM ext version, which is supposed to work with custom ROMS, such as CM7.1.
I found that after doing this, my G5's root permissions were not working: I couldn't move files from my SDcard to the system as i should have been able to with root permissions.
I think this has something to do with changing the CWM version.
Please help.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long and boring post above.

I had the same problem with CWM. Certain versions of it would either soft brick the phone or break one or two features. Only way I found to fix it was to put the old working version back on.

New to Rooting Questions

I just rooted my DX2, i intended to use rom manager to flash/backup my roms but that was not working. So i downloaded bootstrap (the little green arrow icon) and used that to make a backup of my stock system and then used titanium backup to backup all my apps.
What i wanted to know is when i finally install a new rom and do a data wipe how do i recover everything if it starts me with a clean phone? do i just reinstall titanium and bootstrap and will SU still be installed?
Also can you point me to a good guide on installing CM9 to my DX2?
Thank you,
Jake
A couple of things. What system version are you on? 2.3.4 or 2.3.5? Also Rom Manager doesnt work for us (as you know now.) Are you using the BSR from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318083 ?
When you install a ROM yes you reinstall the BSR (but if you are going on CM7-9-10 then you need the CM7 patched BSR once on the ROM.) and then Redownload Titanium Backup. All your backups are stored on your external card so a wipe doesnt get rid of them. Once titanium is loaded back up it will find them.
A rom comes rooted so SU and everything is part of the package. Install instructions for ROMS are on the original page of the ROMS. Just note that if you are on 2.3.5 the only ROM that will work for you is Eclipse. All the other ROMs are 2.3.4 based.

I am on 2.3.5, is eclipse a good rom?
Thanks,

Eclipse is a very stable and clean ROM. I used it for a long time. CM7 is also stable and a.lot.more customizable but you will need to SBF to 2.3.4 to get on it. Both eclipse and CM7 are gingerbread roms. Cm9, MIUI, AOKP Paranoid Android are ICS and CM10 is jellybean.

Thanks for recommending Eclipse, its a really awesome ROM. At some point i plan to SBF to 2.3.4 for CM10, but for now Eclipse is better than stock.
