[Q] Root Problems with ODIN HELP! - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I am trying to root my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 but am having problems...
Here is the situation... I follow all the steps but when I get to clicking and opening the "Odin3_v1.85.exe" it gives me an allow box, I click allow, then (unlike the video) it gives me another box that says odin3 then Japanese or something, when I click the only thing to click on it, It opens and closes ODIN in a flash. This happens everytime...
I have downloaded ODIN, uninstalled, reinstalled, and the works...
I'm running Win7 on my comp, had drivers installed, in ODIN mode, its a galaxy 10.1 running 3.2 all stock upgraded through KIES...
When I just open ODIN without the "Odin3_v1.85.exe" it wont recognize my tab... I'm lost and want to root my Tab so I can run what I want...
Also I have rooted and completely decked out my Vibrant, so i'm not a complete noob, but I am lost on this one...

Did you try re downloading the Odin?

Very strange problem one in the world

Hi folks, i'm italian and first of all i apologize for my bad english, my' problem is very madness. I decided to unroot my 3g 10.1 (gt p7500) unfortunately i flashed the stock P7510 firmware. From this point i don't know how, but i have a p7510 firm and tab (for me is very ugly about the skin and option, apart the lack of 3g). I tried everyfing about stock rom, firm, but odin say me everytime "FAiL"!!! Kyes recognise me as P7510 but it isn't!!! How can i return to my original brand new tab?
P.S. I installed hc-3.1_ota-full_sam_tab_10.1.zip from recovery by "install zip from sd card"....i made a mistake certnly
(i was rooted in my 7500 but i decided to go in the stock way because the battery issue, it decreased too quickly!)
any idea? However, i take back the tab to assistence service, i hope they know what to do. I notice that, in odin, the tab changes the ID port. When i'm in windows normally it shows ID10port, when i'm in downloading mode it shows ID9 port. Maybe tab is recognised by two way (p7510 and p7500) booooooo!

If in Odin the port-id is shown and yellow, you shouldt be able to flash a stock rom.
Download this rom from the dev section and flash that one in Odin. Its the stockrom for P7500 Make sure usb-debugging is on. No need to do it in download-mode

What's debug mode usb? Simple when i connect my tab to pc with odin on?

Well.
Go too: settings/applications/development on top you find 'USB-Debugging" tick that. Then connect youre tab with the pc. Then start Odin and select the rom-file you downloaded in PDA. If in Odin the com is yellow start the flash.
If you cant connect with Odin, uncheck the USB-Debugging and start again.

Just flash a stock rom through Odin, it does the same job as kies only faster, you can find a stock rom here.

[Q] Cant connect to kies since root

Since rooting my phone I cant connect to kies is this something I missed in the small print, anyone else have this problem? It just shows up as connecting which it never does.
Try uninstall of Kies and reinstall .
Root using CF root does not block Kies .
jje
I did the trouble shoot connection and it re-installed the kies driver. The problem is still there it just wont connect
Problem solved simply uninstall SuperSU which I am guessing will take me back to stock? The guide I used to root the phone which I cant link in this thread! had me install CF root v6.0 is this an older version there is a 6.3.
So the question now is can I root up to 6.3 safely?
Yes. Just flash the new kernel through Odin/CWM.

No, you just got rid of the app which manages root-access for programs. The kernel is still modified.
another pc
try another pc with kies installed
I rooted the phone again with 6.3 and everything worked fine. But today once again I cannot connect to kies even with a reinstall. I have the phone charging through my pc and every so often a pop up in the task bar with new hardware found galaxy S3 comes up. WTF!
Try to coonect via a different USB port - this many times solve the problem. I not know exactly why, but sometimes some of the USB ports wont let you connect to KIES.

[Q] Windows 7 doesn't recognize my I9300.

So, I cannot connect my phone to any pc.
Problem started after re-installing Windows 7 I believe.
The phone charges fine over usb.
Here's what I have tried so far:
I have changed mtp to ptp.
I have tried using different usb cables and ports
I have re-installed windows 3 times
I have installed Samsung drivers and kies, and tried fixing the error thru kies.
I have tried different kernels (Siyah and stock cm10 kernel)
I have tried on a different pc.
I have tried the stock sgs3 rom, it has Siyah kernel.
I have tried turning USB debugging on and off.
Galaxy S3 toolkit doesn't recognize my phone.
Any help is appreciated.

You say you already tried stock rom with Siyah Kernal. How did you get back to stock did you flash or use Odin?
I would make a backup, Use Superwipe script and use Odin to load Stock Ics 4.0.4 and then try. If that fails you can always restore back to your backup and someone else maybe able to provide a solution.
TBH it doesn't sound like its your PC if you have tried it on other PCs.

I had an older backup with the stock rom in it.
I'm not sure can Odin connect to my phone, so I would end up bricking it completely..

Odin is relatively safe but I am not going to guarentee anything, There is a lot of tutorials on using odin on here and youtube. It is completely up to you what you do. My suggestion was purely based on what I would do in your situtation.

I just tried to flash cf-root using odin and windows just gave me a error.
Could doing a megawipe or a superwipe make windows recognize my phone again then?
Uninstall Kies completely from your PC when its uninstalled reboot your PC then make sure the Kies folder located here is deleted
Program Files / Samsung / Kies
Next download and install Kies from the Samsung web site, reboot your PC once rebooted plug your phone in to the USB (preferably with the original USB cable), let the drivers install themselves.
Once installed you should have it working again.

Done, it says USB device not recognized.
I'm currently installing Kies on a laptop, if it works it means that my motherboard is broken or something, if it doesn't it means my phones usb port is broken.
E: Okay, this windows is saying that the device is in error mode or something like that...
Question: How do I get my phone to stock without usb so I can take it to the warranty?

Pants. I'm in the same situation, but my phone isn't rooted. So I can't use mobile odin. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Is there any way of using stock recovery to either flash an official image or perhaps root?
Mike.

[Q] Soft brick, halp!

Hi guys,
I think this doesn't look good, due to the way it failed. It was working just fine, using NeatROM. Just came after a walk, using it no problem. Let it rest for a bit while I was doing other things, and then when I check it again, it's dead.
It doesn't go beyond the Galaxy S2 logo, it doesn't get to the bootloader. Custom Recovery doesn't load. Download mode does start, but Odin hangs in "NAND write start". What would be your recommended steps?
Since I installed the crappy Samsung Link on my home laptop, I'm going to put the blame on that, and will use the work laptop that is clean of Kies or other crap. But i'm not very optimistic of how this looks...
EDIT: OK, so tested on a different laptop. Samsung USB drivers downloaded/installed, ODIN 3 v1.85. Still hangs on "NAND Write start!"
Try with usb drivers first, but kies is always a safe bet (of course, you need to kill its applications before flashing, all four of 'em).
This is probably an usb problem or odin version.

Hi Gastonw,
Thanks for your reply. However I'm now with a "virgin" laptop, with samsung usb drivers installed specifically for this. And still no luck, still hanging and the NAND write
EDIT: Just to confirm, this laptop has never had Kies installed, and I'm just running with the USB drivers, without Kies.
Alright, I want you to try all usb ports and try with different odin versions.
Genuine SII cables?
