[Q] Gingerstreak 2.4.4 Release Baseband? - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I've decided to take the plunge and flash Gingerstreak to my Steak 5. I've taken the cautious approach and decided to read the instructions, which I'm pretty confident that I understand.
The main step I'm having a problem with is
YOU MUST FLASH THE BELOW BASEBAND AND DSP1 IMAGES TO ALLOW THIS BUILD TO WORK CORRECTLY!!
Click to collapse
Will flashing them change my baseband? The reason that I'm asking is that I have a British streak and I don't really want to completely **** the radio. My current baseband is GAUSB1A131921, has anyone had any experience with flashing over the radio? Will i still get UK signal/data connectivity?
Many Thanks
Tom

Regardless of which Gingerbread ROM you install, flashing the AMSS and DSP files will change the baseband. The baseband is like a computer BIOS in that it provides basic control to the radios. It has nothing to do with your carrier and does not inhibit the ability of the Streak to pick up your carrier's signal.

Just for reassurance if you need it, I'm a UK Streak user and you'll be fine.
If anything you may well find better signal strength with this baseband - not guaranteed but certainly possible.

Thanks guys, I went ahead with it and all seems fine.
Cheers again
Tom

I have seen some of your answers in some of the posts here that shows you do have good knowledge about. I have a post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1401440 here in this forum, but so far no answer, pretty strange. Care to take a shot and help out? Thanks

Have you found any standalone radio/modem tar. files that you flash via Odin for the showcase?
Sent from a depraved XDA junkie and flashaholic
The only thing I flashed with Odin was CWM red and the rest went from there I don't know much about radios and nothing about modems. Is there any way I can get my phone back to a working state?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR REPLYING!

There is an all in one package for the fascinate that you could flash but it contains a fascinate modem. Therefore you would have to flash a showcase modem to your phone if the all in one works. You would need to find a standalone showcase modem. A modem is what allows your phone to make calls, transmit and receive data and work with the gps. This is all theoretical of course, I don't know if the all in one for the fascinate would work but what do you have to lose. Here is the link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1017817 Like I said, this contains a fascinate modem so you need to flash a showcase modem via odin after doing this. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WILL WORK. But, this method has fixed my phone when nothing else could. I am about to be unable to communicate anymore for a little while but I will check this thread again to see how you are.
Alright I'll try this in the coming hour. Is there a way I can PM you to see tell you if it worked or not or can you check back later? Thanks

Well its not like you have much to lose now but I doing think its likely anything here would work for you. I'm assuming your phone and carrier is similar but kernels for one line just isn't intended to be tried on anything different.
Really hope it works but I think your phone may need to have an accident and get replaced. When you get a replacement or if you get yours working again, try to stay clear of roms/kernels for other devices.
Well, I just got it replaced over the counter as a manufacturer defect... lol thanks everyone!

Good to hear.
For the record, the Showcase is as similar to our phones as it is to the Mesmerize.

Updating from locked o2 stock 2.2 to 407.

Hi,
I've been reading around but am not satisfied with the answers given regarding this question. I've a 2nd locked Dell Streak begging for a taste of GB but I recall having read all manner of things "back in the day" about requiring a rebelsim to change recoveries etc, but can't find that info now for a definitive answer.
I want to move from o2's stock. Can I just fastboot flash the 407 recovery and update.pkg it, or are there more steps due to the fact it's locked?
Thanks in advance.

Please, don't all jump at once...

as far as im aware you would have to use fastboot , and flash the recovery, then the update.pkg, theres lots of threads and guides on here telling you how to do this, also check the wiki lots of good info there too
I saw those, but there was nothing - for me - specific to o2.
The biggest issue for me is remembering reading a requirement for a rebelsim or goldcard?
Or... am I confusing this with another device? :-/
I have read the wiki a few times while learning about Modding my unlocked phone. The locked one is new to me though.

The fact that its locked just means you can only use your o2 SIM. I don't think it has anything to do with your ROM. You just flash the amss and then the dsp1 files, flash recovery and then flash the stock package. From there you can move to custom ROMs for GB. There is still no guarantee the GB ROM will recognize your SIM... simple as that
The radio files should be included in the update package... at least it seemed to flash them when I went from 351 to 407 on my unlocked streak.
Everything else though: spot on, thanks! I will give it a go and hope for the best

I have a 02 one I am almost sure you have to unlock it first which i did with unlockstreak.com it does cost $29 though but you can test first to see if it can and i paid through pay pal.If you do look in your spam folder for email with code as i didnt see it at first. The site is to down load the software and test is
www$unlockstreak£com/pages/download-dell-streak-unlock-software?ref=874b1d7212afe8cc4672f2f53d9976c12a5ea0e5
and a write up about it at www$streaksmart$com/2011/02/dell-streak-unlocker-software-unlocks-streak-in-minutes.html
as to the flashing i have done gingerstreak 244 and dsp amass streak mod recovery i didnt do a normal recovery upgrade first though so not sure if i did it right still have to look into this but it works
you deffo dont have to unlock it as mines is still o2 and im running gingerbread dsc rom, just make sure you flash the required amss and dsp1 file then recovery and rom you should be set to go
If I recall correctly, all a RebelSIM does is allow SIM cards from any carrier to be used in the device without having the device's unlock code. Thus using a RebelSIM should not affect the ability to flash ROMs. My Aria and my roommate's Inspire are both SIM locked to AT&T, yet both have custom ROMs (Cyanogenmod for the Aria, Android Revolution HD for the Inspire).
SORRY

My mistake sure i read it had to be unlocked might have confused it with my hd2.
Can you tell me if i should flash a 350 recovery or is strak mod a recovery instead.Only when i went from o2 rom to gingerstreak i did not flash a recovery.only streakmod recovery.I did streak mod then dsp amass then gingerstreak thank you
407 requires either 350 or 407 recoveries
Sent from my Dell Streak
Ok heres what i did, flashed the appropriate dsp1 and amss files for gingerbread, then f-ash streakmod recovery , then via the recovery flashed dsc rom, but some say it might be better if you flash official 2.3 first then custom rom over it, entirely upto you but i flashed dsc gingerbread rom straight over froyo 2.2

I see I did streakmod first then dsp amas then ginger its working ok just didnt know if i had to do the recovery or if strakmod was a recovery that you can use instead of.Thank you and im not trying to hijack this thread but i get the impression the 02 device is a bit different to do than a dell one.
Bayton, it shouldn't matter that you're on o2 but you can always e-mail o2 and they will send you an unlock code for free - I did it myself. There is a page on the o2 website where you can fill in a unlock code request. If they refuse the code tell them they must have made a mistake and that you know someone who's had theirs unlocked. This happened to me and then they sent the code.
Cheers.

I do not have much of an idea but i know that it needs updating.having read the forums about the updates my head is all over the place.
i ask please for a link to the correct firmware i need to flash.. and what i need to flash with the easiest way
Hope you can help me and point me in the right direction..I have took the time to read the forums but i still have no idea what i need for this device
as i have just received it.
Many many thanks in advance
Rather open-ended question because the correct firmware is going to vary depending on what you want to do. For instance, do you wish to revert to a stock ROM? Do you want to be as up to date as possible? Are certain features important to you?
I personally don't recommend going back to stock, but to go forward and get a custom gingerbread ROM. Check the development forum for four good ones: Longhorn 2.9.1, DSC 1.2, Cyanogenmod 7, and MIUI.

no need to revert to stock then... streakdroid 1.9 is the best for 2.2.2... so whats the point on going back to stock...? all stock are not optimized at all and have many hidden and useless application in it...
last time i tried using the deodexed stock but still it is not enough and does drain the battery too... custom rom is way better...
but if you insist on going stock.. i am not stopping you.. do what ever you want.. also updating to stock gingerbread such as olleh 407 has its own problem too...

I see from other posts that you are going to put 407 on the device and with this post why you're going that route is clear. Factory reset isn't required prior to flashing because flashing the ROM itself will wipe everything. What is required is that the stock recovery image for 407 be placed on the device before attempting to flash the ROM. Otherwise it won't work. I'm not going to go into detail on how to change the recovery image because there are sticky posts galore that have all the relevant info. A good thread to look at is in Streak 5 Android Development, titled "Everything you always wanted to know about the Streak but were too busy bricking it".

I had no idea as to what to search for as I have never even seen a dell before,I assumed it would be as other androids get a stock rom and just flash but was hit with so many differant roms...ones for each region etc.l could not find a post that said LATEST STOCK ROM FOR U.K DELL STREAK 5 or anything like it,and it was a hell of a lot more complicated than I imagined so I was stuck and asked for help.Thankfully with the snippets of help I have been given I am more knowledgable now and even capable of flashing the device properly I hope...and if for some reason someone else needs to know the same I will pass on what I have learnt from you guys gladly to help a android user

The country you are in and the carrier you are using do not matter when it comes to flashing a Streak ROM. All that matters is whether the region of the recovery matches the region of the ROM you are installing. Thus, for 407, you would need a region 14 recovery as 407 is a region 14 ROM. Unlocked Streaks purchased direct from Dell had their own region, 00. To flash one of those ROMs, e.g. 360, you would need a region 00 recovery.
I hope that clears things up.

SCH-R760

Edit:
How to root:
I followed the directions in this thread.
http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/topi...2Bstock++tar
Except for the stock kernel I used the FF24 one. I uploaded to here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/usnhbh2n9ksj08s/VMAJKof_-C
This will get you root, but stay mostly stock.
Well I have a Generic Samsung Galaxy S2
Model: SCH-R760
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband: S:R760.01 K.FF24
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-SCH-R760.XARFF24-CL1125314 [email protected] #2
Build: GINGERBREAD.XARFF24
I am looking for how to obtain root only. I believe this can only happen by flashing another Kernel, in which case I would like to know how to back up my current Kernel.
Any help with this would be great. I know source is available from Samsung, but I have not learned how to build from source yet.
Thanks,
Ralph McDade
BUMP Me too, exact model. Am wanting to root. Any one with any info on how?
to root it looks like you are going to have to flash another kernel. If you have US cellular there are backups and rooted kernels. If you are on another carrier, you can flash the us cellular kernel and then reprogram the phone for your carrier. The problem with this is depending on what kernel you are on, you may not be able to go back to stock.
I am working on contacting Samsung to see if I can get the stock software that is currently in my phone. I will keep you posted.
No, It's not a US Cellular phone
I understand that, mine isn't either. But it looks like we can use the kernel from the US cellular that has been rooted. Or wait till a one-click root comes out for 2.3.6. Which maybe never due to work being done for newer android phones. Sorry, who is your carrier. If we can find the stock Kernel we could modify it. Problem is Samsung has not release it, only the source.
Mine is [email protected] #2
My carrier is a local company called Pioneer Cellular. All of my stats (kernel, build etc) match yours exactly
---------- Post added at 07:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:25 PM ----------
Is there a way to pull the kernel from the phone using odin?
I will let you know what I figure out. I am going to get in touch with my provider and see if they can provide the software. I doubt it though.
I have tried all of the one click solution none have worked.

Yes, we have successfully rooted. Follow the instructions in the following post. If you are on FF24 instead of FF18 then download the stock FF24 from page 2 in the same thread (post # 25 by mcdader) instead of in step 3.

Or follow the instructions in THIS post. They are the same as the ones above but with an FF24 link added to step 3.

sch-r760 rooted, use on other cdma services?
So i have my us cellular galaxy s2 phone rooted with some app exnos abuse or something like that. What i am wondering is if there is some way to get this phone to work with other cdma services such as verizon, verizon prepaid, straight talk, or even U-Prepaid( i guess this is us cellular, but they wont let you use a us cellular contract phone... Say what!?) Just so we are all on the same page, i am very much a noob when it comes it flashes and kernals. I used to toy around with flashing basic verison phones so that they would run java apps, but thats about it(lg phones turned into super nintendo).
I have searched around, but the only thread i found asking this same thing had no solution and a bunch of ppl complaining how it was on the wrong forum. So i thought i could post here? I hope nobody minds overly much.
Anyway, if this is possible i would love to hear from someone maybe get me pointed in the right direction.
I aslo read that verizon will not add meid numbers to their database. Do you think it would be possible to take the ein and meid of a verizon basic phone and put them on my device? Would i be able to get 3g if i did ths or do you think they would view ot as a basic phone on verizon's zide?
For the MEID swap NO. It's basically your phones fingerprint, assigned to that device built in to the hardware . Although you could clone another phone if its the same, but that is a felony. So I wouldn't try it. But flashing to another carrier, would require the stock files for that particular device. I.e if ur going from say Alltel phone to USSC you could flash USSC stock file to your phone. But it would basically have to be the same model GS2>GS2 and hardware.etc

really?

What so to clone the meid of one device i own to another device i own is a felony? I bet that freakin FCC is behind this!
That aside, i've seen people talking about scripts that allow a user to install a newer android version from a similar device on another network, then the script edits the back to be able to use uscc, is there any way i can manually edit these settings so that i can connect to another network? I'm sure i can convince someone at straight talk to add my meid to their cdma service if their towers see my device. What with that new thing they offer send u a sim card for any gsm phone. Can anyone point me in the right dicection on switching carriers this way?
Uhg sometimes text entry gets so glitchy on this thing, makes it hard to go back and chamge aomething when my curser is out of place five characters, this is my excuse for any the spwllig issues.

[Q] Atrix 4G MB860 SKT Version

Hi All,
First of all I would like to thank everyone at XDA who has invested their lives to make our phones look and work better day by day...
I am very confused right now and have been searching the whole internet for three weeks now but didn't got any solution as yet.
I have got a Motorola Atrix 4G from Korea that has the following information:
Model : MB860
S/W Version : 4.5.2A- SKT-167
Android Version : 2.3.5
Kernel Version : 2.6.32.9- 00004-gfbc 746e
My problem is that the stock rom currently installed is flooded with Korean language. I want to put a pure english stock rom into my Atrix that has all the stock options enabled. Which rom is suitable for this purpose and also as Korean SKT version doesn't have SBF files over the internet, therefore how can I restore to stock if things went into the wrong direction. BTW I have already rooted my phone.
While searching, found some files at "main.develoid.com:81/%40%20MOTOROLA/Atrix/" that I am not sure helpful for any thing or not.
Thanks in advance for all your help and support.
Ignore this and search for "how to know if my atrix is bell or ATT", then flash the proper sbf

Thanks for ur reply but I am already aware of this fact that my Atrix is not from any of these two i.e. ATT or Bell. My phone is from Korea and is from SK Telecom South Korea. It is a MB860 with SKT software version.
The SKT is the version of the rom. There are only 2 atrix models: ATT and Bell. It doesnt matter where are you from, my Atrix is Bell and we dont even have it in Brazil...

I have googled but haven't been able to find anything useful regarding ATT and Bell. Have found a new info as the FCC ID for ATT and Korean Atrix are different
ATT Atrix 4G FCC ID: IHDP56LS1
My Korean Atrix 4G FCC ID: IHDP56LS2
I am not sure as if this has something to do but I considered it worth sharing...
See this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
I guess the proper sbf for your phone is where says
Orange/Bell/Telestra/Latin America/International users ONLY - Download IHOP

Please remember that questions go in the Q&A section.
Contrary to what was posted earlier, there are three Atrix models (MB860, MB861, and ME860). But you seem to know which one you have already. Also, never flash an SBF unless you have no other choice.
Did you try going to Settings, Language & keyboard, Select locale and see if you can choose English? Might not work because I think that is the Korean GB235 software.
Is the device rooted with an unlocked bootloader? If so, you should be able to flash a AT&T stock fruit cake.

Thanks for your reply. My apologies for posting into the wrong section.
Right now my phone is rooted but not unlocked yet. I wanted to be safe before I can actually modify it. Least I could have a restore point to return. Thats why asking the experts for an advice.
My only issue is not the language but most of english characters are shown wrong whenever I receive a SMS. Can only have caller ID for SMS (contact numbers with +) or for the call (removing the + sign from all contact numbers). Can only send SMS with 80 characters otherwise it is converted into a MMS.
Instead of solving all these issues one by one, I believe installing a stock english rom would solve my problem. The only problem is that I am not sure which ROM can I use and what can I do if I end up into a soft brick phone.
Thanks again for taking the time to look into my problem.

Text information will probably never display properly with the Korean OS. Probably a combination of language and carrier differences.
Flashing an English ROM will solve your problems. Be sure to follow instructions for unlocking the bootloader for the Korean Atrix in the dev section. You can install any custom ROM. You can also install a stock ROM, but may have to make changes to locale and APN settings - no biggie.

This is where I get lost ((((((((((
I have apmel experience of flashing my old HD2. I even did it with my eyes closed. Thanks to XDA for the load of development and user training.
Atrix is a little complex (or maybe I am more cautioned). Which stock english rom will work for me? I have also read within the forum that Korean Atrix can take Telstra Stock ROM but still I am not sure about it.

Just to be clear, when I say stock ROM I mean a fruit cake. Some associate stock with sbf. As I said before, never flash an sbf (OK, only once when unlocking your bootloader). I recommend flashing this fruit cake to get you started. If you are not on AT&T, look here for changing your APN. But the very next step you take will be to unlock your bootloader. Worry about the rest later.
Thx for everything
I will unlock the bootloader tomorrow.
For the ROM, are u advising me to flash stock ATT fruitcake. Would ATT software be compatible with my phone's hardware?
Plz accept my apologies for bring unnecessarily demanding but I am very cautioned about flashing my Atrix mainly as it lacks support from Motorola.
Thanks again...

Can I use the fruit cakes given within this link:
"forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009"
Also right now I am on GB 2.3.5 and if I go for ATT GB 2.3.6 fruit cake, can I downgrade to 2.3.5 with my stock backup? What I have understood during all my search is that Atrix could get hard bricked if downgraded. Please advice.

make sure you make a CWM backup of your rom first and put it in dropbox/mediafire

Yes, AT&T fruit cakes will be compatible You can flash any fruit cake you want, you will just need to makes the changes I posted earlier.
The one thing I forgot to mention before: depending on your country and carrier, you may need to flash a different radio. Those are available at the Atrix Reboot Project.
Once your bootloader is unlocked you can flash or restore anything want. Your phone will be free!

Yep this is the only workaround I have to go stock if something went off the plan
Thanks for the tip though.

Many thanks
I will start off with flashing process tomorrow and will post the results accordingly.
Finally I did it
I have unlocked the bootloader and complete backup of my phone with CWM and ROM Factory.
CWM has given me a folder full of 6 files and ROM Factory has given me a .zip file and a folder workdir.
I believe now I am on the safe side to flash custom ROMs.
People like me can head to this post that I have followed to do things forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302423
Many thanks upndwn4par for the sincere help.
Moreover I would also like to thank all the developers working hard to make our phones what they are really today... Really appreciated :good:
Please advise if my backup is accurate. Also direct me to the place where can I drop these files to help other users with a similar phone.

Backup strategy is correct. The fruit cake won't work as is. Upload workdir or the zip to the Atrix Reboot Project and I'll fix it and put it back.
Edit: You can also post a dropbox link. Whatever works.
Edit 2:
Forgot to say congrats on unlocking your bootloader!
Also, could you post a link here?
